Excellent post. A few additional observations. The phenomenon you describe is exactly why a true poll would show Trump winning the election in a landslide. The rhetoric and shame of being a Trump supporter is so intense, a large percentage of voters, for a host of reasons and in virtually every context, cannot admit they are voting Trump, even to a pollster over the telephone. But when in the voting booth, with the curtain closed, the majority those who have managed to protect their minds will pull the lever for Trump.Posted by Abondance (here)
I can’t imagine the US staying in one piece when things get so vicious.
If it were an isolated case, I would sigh and shrug. But when a group of people are targeted in this way, I think the discomfort and the level of violence and fracture has become too great for any outcome to appease the whole society...
"Trump supporters in Pennsylvania are reportedly being targeted with threatening letters from radical leftists, warning them that their visible support for the former President could lead to dire consequences.
Residents with Trump signs in their yards, particularly in Philadelphia, have reported receiving disturbing letters through the U.S. Postal Service, complete with fake Trump campaign letterheads, Post Millenial first reported.
The threatening letters, which start off as a seemingly benign “thank you” note for being engaged in the electoral process, quickly devolve into dark, ominous threats.
One Trump voter, Janet from Penn Valley, shared her harrowing experience to Post Millenial.
After proudly displaying Trump signs in her yard, she received one of these letters, filled with hateful rhetoric and explicit threats to her family and property.
The unsettling message was far from an isolated incident. Janet, who reported the matter to the Lower Merion Police, revealed that other Trump supporters in her area had received similar letters.
However, the phenomena you describe has also produced casualties en masse to such a degree it has become a driving force of culture. A huge swath of the population has literally lost their minds. They are so rabidly in opposition, as the letter illustrates, the term Trump Derangement Syndrome doesn't do justice to the social pathology afoot. Simply put (and this point cannot be understated or dismissed as hyperbole), there is widespread mental illness currently afflicting culture to such degree that social instructions are breaking down and becoming dysfunctional, including the very institutions that govern law and justice. This is not an organic or accidental occurrence. This is a coordinated attack and systematic attempt to dismantle America. The weapons employed are psychological. They are waged against the minds of people (and in a broader sense against humanity en masse) to inculcate a psychological stand down to America's conquerors, and they are literally producing mental illness en masse. ,
An addict to heroin will do anything to get his fix. But even the most pernicious cases of mental illnesses are limited in scope and checked by the sanity of society. But when millions upon millions of people are driven by a common mental illness, the social order itself begins to collapse. People will do anything in their districts and cities and bureaucratic positions of leverage to get their fix, or at the very least, become sympathetic to a breakaway from values that hold civilization together, e.g. the rule of law, upholding constitutional human rights and freedoms, etc. This breakaway is no longer just a phenomena of corruption in government. It is widespread mental illness afflicting every power center of society.
This is why, IMHO, a very probable outcome of this election will result the coronation of POTUS Harris, despite the fact that Trump will win the true vote in a landslide (possibly even a 50 state landslide). The technology required to tally the vote need be no more sophisticated than an abacus; electronic voting software is designed for one reason, and one reason only. To manipulate the vote count. Everybody surely understands this at some visceral level--yet our elections are still executed via electronic voting. They are administered on the blind trust of not only the honesty but also the sanity of those proctoring the software. But at present there are no reasonable safeguards against an unethical count when employing electronic voting machines and those who would do whatever is necessary to fashion a result are enabled by millions and millions of mentally ill people programmed to condone a rigged election.
If I'm wrong about this and the Trump vote is somehow strong enough to overcome the algorithms, the psychological impact on society cannot be understated. The psychological aftermath of a Trump victory will create a crisis the likes of which America has never seen. Crime and violence will go up, families will break apart, marriages will split. Alcoholism and addiction will increase. Those with resources will seek therapy in attempt to repair their psyches. And this is just the tip of iceberg.
The most likely result may be the worst of all. The people and institutions and various authorities that adjudicate disputes will likely not be able or willing to reach a consensus regarding the result of this election. And we all understand where irreconcilable differences of the body politic lead to at the end of the road.
How this all plays out is anybody's guess. But until there is a remedy to the mental illness plaguing society, I certainly don't see this ending well.
