Russian sappers carry out aerial demining in the special operation, helping them save the lives of their troops and discover traps set by Ukrainian forces as well as unexploded mines.

Russian engineers have started to use the aerial demining method on the battlefield. First, an area is scanned using a reconnaissance drone that searches for traps – unexploded ammunition and mines. The mines are then destroyed by dropping explosives from another drone.

This method is particularly useful when dealing with mines that react to the approach of a sapper.

Aerial demining has become relevant with the installation of seismic and laser sensors on modern mines. A sapper cannot approach such explosive devices, as demining using standard methods is hampered by enemy unmanned aircraft.

Military expert Yuri Lyamin told Russian media that the idea of demining with the help of UAVs has been in the air for two years.

"In my opinion, the method works, but a lot depends on the implementation," he said. "Detecting and destroying such a large number of mines may require a lot of sapper drones. Scout drone operators are best suited for the role of sappers. After all, they are more focused on finding different types of objects," Lyamin said.

"Aerial demining is a modern and humane method," he noted. "A sapper is one of the most dangerous professions, because he can make a mistake only once. But a drone has the right to make a mistake, it is not a human life.

Russian engineers previously presented an air-ground mine clearance system. First, an operator launches a special quadcopter capable of aerial photography with a high-resolution camera. As a result, the sappers receive an orthophotoplane — a digital panorama of the area, which allows them to see mines both on the ground and in the grass.
After that, operators scan the surface with a drone equipped with a magnetometer, and launch a robotic platform for mine clearance. They use a lightweight robot that grinds the soil to a depth of about 10 cm using a rotary mechanism.

The International Criminal Court has filed a complaint with its watchdog against Mongolia for refusing to arrest Putin.

The panel of judges of the International Criminal Court has referred the case of Mongolia to the States Parties to the Rome Statute due to the fact that the country's authorities failed to arrest Russian President Vladimir Putin during his visit.

“States Parties and those that accept the jurisdiction of the Court are obliged to arrest and extradite persons subject to ICC warrants, regardless of their official status or nationality.

This reminded me of my Father, he was a 19 year old in 1942 and he was drafted into the Royal Engineers as he was a tradesman (at this time a trainee Bricklayer/Carpenter), he used to relate his adventures to me if we were driving along somewhere, I would be curious and want to know if he 'killed anyone", he used to say "We were mostly being shot at, rather than shooting", he described laying explosive charges, blowing up bridges once the troops had passed over them, mine sweeping with this big clumsy dish on a stick, and even water-divining with two copper rods (if the army does it, it tends to work) - I wonder what he would think of aerial devices being used to demine, and modern warfare, yes I am a classic 'Boomer' an actual son of a returned WWII soldier, I feel kind of proud of my Father, despite his faults and flaws as a man he prevailed and raised a family, the odds of him surviving were not great, sappers are prime targets because they are great enablers of the army. These people are not true human beings, there is something truly absent from their nature, to persist like this in killing civilians demonstrates more than anything else the full horror of hatred - I am amazed the Russians do not go the whole way and simply wipe them all out, they could but always they show restraint and even great mercy: they know much of this is due to lies and long years of conditioning, also many of these incidents are managed by NATO. Sorry to declare the obvious but I am disgusted.

Russian troops stop Ukrainian cross-border raid – governor

An “armed group” has sought to enter Bryansk Region, Aleksandr Bogomaz has said

The Russian military, together with border guards and National Guard units, have repelled an attempted incursion into Bryansk Region, its governor, Aleksandr Bogomaz, said in a statement on Telegram on Sunday.

According to the governor, an “armed group” had sought to cross into Russia from Ukraine near the village of Manev. Located right on the border, the small settlement has been abandoned for years.

The border guards, together with the military and security forces, opened fire on the invaders and forced them to retreat, according to the statement. The size of the would-be incursion force as well as its potential losses remain unclear. Bogomaz has not reported any casualties on the Russian side.

Russian warplanes have obliterated a Ukrainian-held building in the border Kharkov Region where a number of officers were posted, the Defense Ministry in Moscow announced on Monday, releasing video footage of the strike.

The ministry said in a statement that its forces had destroyed a Ukrainian temporary deployment point near the town of Volchansk, which is about six miles from the Russian border. The area around the town has been the scene of fierce fighting since Russia launched its offensive in Kharkov Region to establish a ‘cordon sanitaire’ to protect civilians from repeated shelling.

Officials said that “a powerful blow to the enemy” was delivered after Russian warplanes received target coordinates from reconnaissance and used a glide bomb to attack the facility.
