Considering all the prestigious air force activity, here is the elephant in the room:

Quote Iran Knew About US, Israeli Plans to Activate Opposition in Syria - Foreign Minister

Iran knew about US and Israeli plans related to the activation of armed opposition groups in Syria, all intelligence data was passed on to the Syrian government, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said during a special interview on Iranian state television.

"Everything was clear. Both analytics and news reports indicated in advance that such a movement would emerge. Both from an analytical and intelligence perspective, we knew that there was a behind-the-scenes plan on the part of the US and the Israeli regime that would create problems for the 'axis of resistance,'" Araghchi said.

"From the perspective of [what was happening] 'on the sidelines' and intelligence, the intelligence services in our country and in Syria were fully aware of the movements in Idlib. And all information was passed on to the Syrian government and the Syrian army," the minister added.

It's not going to be seen as anything other than Anglo-Zionist savagery.

I'm not Syrian or Iranian, I don't agree with them on everything, but I oppose Anglo-Zionist savagery. Which is implicit in its very existence.

SG Partisan is one of the sanest mouthpieces to follow.

Unfortunately, it takes a certain level of power to remain in the area and say anything at all. If the radars and air defense get pummeled, it's not safe for them anywhere, there would be nothing to regroup, you can't do it. This makes it very touchy for state actors to possibly intervene. Seems pretty obvious there is only one that can deal with the air forces, although this has not been their first reaction.

As long as she is in one piece, those will be some of the best updates for whatever happens on the ground there.

Could this possibly be true? Personally, I very much doubt the claims that USA air forces are conducting strikes on ISIL in Syria. ISIL is practically a creation of the US deep state, back in 2012. I’m more inclined to think the US air forces are attacking anything resembling Iranian military sites that may be located in Syria.

    December 9, 2024

US announces air strikes on ISIL targets in Syria after al-Assad’s fall
US Central Command says it struck more than 75 targets to ensure armed group does not exploit end of Syrian leader’s rule.

The United States says it has carried out dozens of air strikes on ISIL (ISIS) targets in Syria following the stunning collapse of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s government.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said on Sunday that it had struck more than 75 targets, including ISIL (ISIS) leaders, operatives and camps, to ensure that the armed group does not take advantage of the end of al-Assad’s rule.

CENTCOM said it was carrying out damage assessments following the strikes, which involved warplanes including the Boeing B-52 Stratofortress and McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle, but there were no indications of civilian casualties.

“There should be no doubt – we will not allow ISIS to reconstitute and take advantage of the current situation in Syria,” CENTCOM Commander General Michael Erik Kurilla said in a statement.

“All organizations in Syria should know that we will hold them accountable if they partner with or support ISIS in any way.”

The strikes came as outgoing US President Joe Biden described al-Assad’s fall as a “moment of risk” and “historic opportunity”.

In a televised address from the White House, Biden said that al-Assad’s fall at the hands of rebel group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) was a chance for Syria’s long-suffering people to “build a better future for their proud country”.

“It’s also a moment of risk and uncertainty. As we all turn to the question of what comes next, the United States will work with our partners and the stakeholders in Syria to help them seize an opportunity to manage the risk,” Biden said.

Seeking to claim partial credit for al-Assad’s downfall, Biden said his demise had been made possible by a decline in support for his government from Russia, Iran and Hezbollah.

“For years, the main backers of Assad have been Iran, Hezbollah and Russia. But over the last week, their support collapsed – all three of them – because all three of them are far weaker today than they were when I took office,” Biden said.

The sudden end of 53 years of al-Assad family rule has cast a pall of uncertainty over the security situation in the region, including the presence of an estimated 900 US troops in Syria.

US President-elect Donald Trump, who ordered the number of US troops in Syria to be reduced by half during his first term after being dissuaded against a complete withdrawal, on Saturday indicated that his administration would not get involved in any conflict in the country.

“Syria is a mess, but is not our friend,” Trump wrote on Truth Social, before switching to all uppercase letters for emphasis.

“THE UNITED STATES SHOULD HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. THIS IS NOT OUR FIGHT. LET IT PLAY OUT. DO NOT GET INVOLVED!”

In his first public appearance since seizing Damascus, HTS leader Abu Mohammed al-Julani, a former leader of the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda, described al-Assad’s fall as an opportunity to turn Syria into a “beacon for the Islamic nation” and the beginning of a “new history” for the region.

“God will not fail you,” al-Julani said in a victory speech at the symbolic Umayyad Mosque in the Syrian capital.

“This victory is for all Syrians; they were all part of this victory.”

All of this Syria downfall happened too fast. I'm under the impression that a big chunk of what really happened hasn't been told yet. The new factions in charge, aka rebels, or more likely terrorists want to have friendly relations with Israel! Not a word spoken about the Israeli genocide of Palestinians...

I just checked what's on Al Jazeera's news website, and am stunned. Check it out at www.aljazeera.com. They have stories about the joyous celebrations of liberated Syrian people, who recall the horrible treatment they endured under the Assad regime. But no mention whatsoever of the horrors that were inflicted by the first terrorist invasion of Syria by ISIL and others.

Nor does Al Jazeera mention at all the looting and other atrocities that are NOW committed by the current leaders aka terrorists in Damascus and elsewhere. Maybe Al Jazeera will report on this tomorrow? But for now I'm rather stunned by what can only be described at the glee displayed on their webpage about Assad's downfall. They even report the positive comments from Joe Biden and Emmanuel Macron about these events.

I thought Al Jazeera was slightly biased towards anything Arab. But who knows, they may be controlled to some extent by the zionist deep state, as are many other mainstream media.

Journalist Vanessa Beeley, on X, December 8, 2024:

"Made it out of Syria for the time being. Chaos rules, looting, thuggery and thieving. Gets the US Israel stamp of approval because this is what they believe in. Going through the border was a mash of gunfire, infighting and looting from every single shop and market. Terrorists on motorcycles, gunslingers and criminals. An incredibly sad experience. The house was surrounded by "rebels" drunk in "victory" from 5am, constant celebratory gunfire and around 10 they tried to beat the external door down to loot the contents of the house. Early morning Israel was destroying #Syria Air Defence with bunker buster bombs. The whole house shook. The CIA road map is always the same. The Resistance is broken and I doubt it can be repaired but the extremist mercenaries in the pay of Israel will tell you they "support Palestine". Go on then, you are on the border now."

Military logistics aside, and there is much good tactical military sense to what Syrian Girl has shared, absolutely, this is a more sobering reminder:

    Simplicius, on X via RVvoenkor:
‼️🇷🇺🇸🇾Russian soldier showed how entire companies of Syrians threw down their weapons, changed into civilian clothes, tore off their shoulder straps and fled to Iraq

▪️There are piles of machine guns and camouflage on the ground.
▪️"It's sad, total incompetence, disorganization, loss of control, even in Sudan there was nothing like this," says our officer.

For those interested in understanding this important, complex, unhappy and and fractured situation even better, there are several interviews coming up on Judge Napolitano's channel in the next few hours that are likely to be extremely useful. The video titles are just the briefest headlines, while the half-hour conversations are likely to be very wide-ranging. As I've mentioned earlier, I'd highly recommend Alastair Crooke's and Pepe Escobar's analyses — whatever they are — above most others. The times are US Eastern Time.

Yes, without a doubt. Alastair Crooke is quite brilliant, and it may be the stand-out discussion. It is likely to broadcast on X as well, around 1pm GMT

Satellite images show new US Gaza pier construction underway, fast
The construction of a new port in the Gaza Strip ahead of a US military-led effort to allegedly let aid into Gaza is quite advanced, according to satellite pictures examined Thursday by The Associated Press.

According to the photographs, the building has moved swiftly over the previous two weeks, and some authorities suggest the port might be finished in as little as a week.

The port is located directly southwest of Gaza City, which originally was the most populated location before the war drove over 1 million residents south to Rafah.

Its development comes as "Israel" faces considerable international condemnation over the blocking of aid into the region, where the United Nations estimates at least a quarter of the population is on the verge of famine.

The satellite images, collected by Planet Labs PBC, reveal that heavy construction has been underway for the past two weeks. The region is directly north of a route that the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) built through Gaza amid the slaughter.

The port will most likely have three zones: one where the IOF receive dropped-off aid, another where the aid is transferred, and a third where Palestinian drivers contracted by the UN will wait to pick up the aid before delivering it to distribution points, according to a UN official.

The question remains: How can "Israel" be trusted with the task of allowing aid into the Strip when they are the very reason it has been blocked?

Meanwhile, while the US claims the pier is to allow the entry of aid into the Strip, UN experts have warned that it might be aimed at facilitating the Rafah invasion.(...)
The military nature of the “pier” was obvious from the beginning.

I thought Al Jazeera was slightly biased towards anything Arab. But who knows, they may be controlled to some extent by the zionist deep state, as are many other mainstream media.

It may be more Muslim Brotherhood.

To extract the points from the Iranian view:

Assad underestimated the HTS buildup and did not organize the military to respond.

More emphatically, the country was still in bad economic shape. However, he was actually pivoting *away* from Iran and *to* the Sunni majority "conservative" states". This was in part to "work with" the Americans and get out of sanctions.

Quote Apparently, in the early days of the terrorists' movement towards Aleppo province, promises of assistance to the Assad government were made by some countries, but none of them were fulfilled by December 8th.

Reuters reported on December 2, that the US and the United Arab Emirates had discussed with each other the possibility of lifting sanctions on Syrian President Bashar al-Assad if he peels himself away from Iran and cuts off weapons routes to Lebanon's Hezbollah. The Americans were trying to cajole Assad that Caesar sanctions would not be extended on December 20 and would receive economic assistance. They did not hold on to their promise and Assad government finally collapsed.

That's why it's been quiet. He wasn't really using the assistance Iran would have provided, which included military assistance up to the last minute. He tried to normalize with the oppressors.

So, yes, those were recent, different decisions that do not really reflect Syrian will, but, an attempt at compromise.

I would tend to say that strategy was non-productive and desperate.

As of now I have no clue what is to be done about HTS or the future there.

A few communication routes may be obvious:

The New York Times: The US has been passing messages through the Turkish government in recent days to militant groups involved in the lightning blitz that suddenly took down Damascus

As if Europe had the means to prevent any destruction of the pipelines all along the Syrian-Iraqi border or by Kurdish independentists in Turkey itself. Sea transport has always been comparatively safer, although not entirely (cf. Nordstream). Canals are less so (cf. the Houthis). Land is unsafe always.

In the beginning of this century German Siemens had developed two plans, both equally visionary and promising to finally make Africa completely independent of colonialism. (To say something less-known and hence “surprisingly” good about the Germans: they were never very much of a colonial power.)

One was building the largest dams in the world (larger than the Chinese had built), across the estuary of the Congo river. That would have left entire Africa to become energy independent, using hydroelectric power. A good guess: the local leadership was bribed into not buying or launching the plan. You may guess once about my guessing once what power sabotaged it.

The second plan was equally daring: it consisted of building across the entire Sahara a gigantic array of sun-heated liquid-containing tubes, that would have served all energy needs of Europe. That was sabotaged by the suddenly erupting "terrorism" in the Sahel countries, making that array quite vulnerable. Also in that case one guess may be sufficient. Maybe even the same guess.

(By now sabotage has become a fine art. The South East/North West diagonal pipeline will never, I guess – or half-cynically hope, be built.)
