The Behenian Fixed-Star Algol and Medusa Mythology

I wanted to start a thread about the largely misunderstood and often egregiously misappropriated mythology of the spirit known as Medusa and the very powerful presence the grossly misnamed ‘Demon Star’ that is the Behenian Fixed Star Algol has, its relevance to understandings of the Medusa myth, and its use since antiquity.

Below is a collection of writings, some my own, that I have found across the internet and have found useful as I work to understand the powerful presence of Algol energy in my own life. I hope some of you find it helpful. I will endeavor to share links and credit sources whenever possible, however since I began gathering this info last year in May during the peak phase of Algol energy, I have lost some of the sources and origins of this material.

Algol and Evolution

In the mythology of Medusa, we see her as a mutant. A mutation is the driver of genetic evolution. It is no surprise that the Algol star is prominent in the history of the Human Genome Project.

On June 1, 1866, Charles Benedict, the father of the American eugenics movement, was born. Mercury was conjunct Algol. He sterilized 60,000 “unfit” or mutant Americans and “strongly influenced the Holocaust in Europe”. [10]

On July 16, 1945, we exploded the first nuclear bomb, the Trinity Test, in Nevada. Mars was conjunct Algol. The bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki that followed killed over 200,000 people and mutated countless more.

On April 25, 1953, Watson and Crick published their groundbreaking discovery on the structure of DNA, the building block of our genes. Jupiter was conjunct Algol.

On December 9, 1984, research on casualties at Hiroshima and Nagasaki led to the Alta Summit, the beginnings of the Human Genome Project. North Node was conjunct Algol. “If genome projects prove important to biology, then historians will note the Alta meeting”. [11]

On June 25, 2000, President Clinton announced the completion of the Human Genome Project. [12] Saturn was conjunct Algol.

On May 18, 2006, the last chromosome sequence was published in the journal Nature. Sun and Mercury were conjunct Algol.

On May 21, 2008, the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act became law “To prohibit discrimination based on genetic information concerning health insurance and employment”. [13] Venus was conjunct Algol.

uranus will join algol again in october 2024, during its retrograde phase, and again in april/may 2025, during its direct phase — this is the last time this conjunction will occur in most of our lives. mars will be in cancer on both dates, forming a near-exact sextile to uranus and algol. sextiles are often harmonious, but i'd imagine we'll see themes around nationalism (cancer) rise, especially since mars will be opposing the united states' natal pluto in capricorn.

Uranus will transit over Algol again: April 16th - May 20th, 2025 before Uranus begins to transit The Pleiades and ingresses into Gemini on July 6th, 2025

Uranus is associated with innovation, originality, and sudden change. When conjunct Algol, there may be a blending of Algol’s intense and potentially challenging nature with Uranus’s desire for unconventional and progressive approaches.

This conjunction could suggest unexpected or transformative events that shape our sense of identity and freedom. We might be drawn to unconventional paths or face challenges in asserting our individuality.

The medical term Algology means the study of pain. You will not be able to ignore suffering and horror, or brush it aside. The Algol placement on a chart insists upon a confrontation and assimilation of these harsh aspects of human experience in this lifetime.

Algol, like other stars, confers tasks upon us which, if comprehended and accepted, offer great rewards of power and creativity. These stellar challenges are not to be feared, but innerstood and used in a positive manner.

Not everyone has the capacity for walking into the heart of darkness and not be destroyed by it. Having Algol emphasized in a chart gives almost superhuman strength – which can be turned to good use.

Algol is the ultimate shadow work star - for both individual and collective shadow work, healing, and integration - we are being asked to do this more intensely over the next year.

What is so terrible that it cannot be faced?

We must face it to transmute it…

I meet a lot of people who are artists with Algol impacting the chart particularly if it’s angular. Now, I understand that a lot of people are artists and that artistic practice can be immaterial or research based or sporadic so let me clarify. I meet a lot of people who do this thing where they reproduce images repetitively until they have a sense of control over or freedom from that particular image. This is sometimes part of an artistic practice and, other times, it shows up in other ways. 

There’s a fair bit of remix already within Algol but it’s not remix for the sake of deconstruction or obliteration. It’s repetitive remix—remix for the sake of capture. It’s Medusa turning all those guys into stone. It’s fixing something in place so that we become free around it. That’s the energy of Algol.

To work with Algol, find an image or an archetype that cuts into you and then, using the power of your imagination or paint or time itself, fix it into place. Create a doll of it so that it cannot move anymore. Then, consider how you move around this thing that you have made into a doll. Consider whether or not your movements have changed when you find that the image that hurts is fixed in time. 

Algol is a gift. It’s often artistic talent. It’s the impulse and will to capture beauty again and again over a lifetime.

Algol has long been feared by ancient astrologers. They looked at its glow and likened it to the eye of the devil. Terrible omens were connected to this star and it seemed to be one that our ancestors feared as a harbinger of destruction and chaos.

But, of course, in modern astrology we tend to take a more neutral approach and try to dig a little deeper into what the essence of this star may be. It is also worthwhile noting that many stars that were connected to deep feminine power seem to have received such a bad wrap.

When looking a little deeper, Algol is a powerful feminine energy that is not fearful but rather, misunderstood. It is easy to write Algol off as a habringer of destruction, but when you look deeper at her story, you see a powerful feminine warrior that can protect, shapeshift, and knows her own strength.

In modern astrology, Algol is considered the star of transformation and protection. Through every rebirth that Algol goes through, she becomes stronger, more awakened, and more powerful. She represents the forgotten feminine power, that once remembered would allow us to birth a new world.

The Receivers: Full Moon in Taurus and the Head Of Medusa: An Activation

Greetings to you, the awakened. We are the Receivers, and we come forth upon this night of the November full moon and eclipse by special appointment.

Our scribe awoke early in this morning hour of November 18, 2021, feeling the gathering of strong and peculiar energies, and so asked us for information and guidance. They, being sensitive to galactic energies and quick to detect strong influences amassing. 

As we do so communicate to Them, by thought, via their stylus upon tablet, we wish to provide all who hear with insights and observations which may serve you even long past this present season. The moon is this night full and in the fixed earth sign of Taurus at 27 degrees, 14 minutes —-Taurus, being our scribes' natal house—-and in  opposition to the sun which is yet lingering in the fixed water sign of Scorpio. This is an extremely powerful series of alignments that portends new cycles of eclipses through the 2nd and 8th houses which will extend out into late 2023. it is a signature event: A full moon on steroids!
 
The moon is square Jupiter and trine to Pluto; oh, and Pluto will become a very big player over the next two years, especially for USA. But we digress. This 4-sided aspect, called an animated figure  is ominously influenced by the dark presence of the fixed star, Algol which is situated at 26 degrees, 28 minutes Taurus.
Now, as in all things in your physicality. Balance must always be favored. Moon square Jupiter is hopeful enthusiastic, but also may draw forth impulses and heightened emotions. Therefore dispose yourself in this array towards kindness, generosity, and higher standards of moral codes. Be moderate in all things, especially material pursuits where strong soul attachments may be quickened. The Moon trine Pluto may bring heightened emotional sensitivity, psychic perceptions, and dealing with latent karmic bonds.
The animated, or quadrilateral aspect pattern formed by Sun, Moon, Jupiter and Pluto may quicken imagination. For some, it can open up new creative ventures or reawaken old interests on the planes of adventure, curiosity, and mental pursuits. Contrarily, it may reactivate repressed emotional traumas, thoughts, and memories. Applied properly, these energy may be gateways to reckoning and healing of such. Again, we urge circumspection and suggest any triggers not be taken lightly. Seek assistance it so need, and find your comfortable space.

The Demon Star

The fixed star, Algol is indeed ominous; and, left unchecked, can be a decisively negative, even deadly harbinger, which can be disposed towards misfortune, violence, evil invocations, sickness, and death. This a time to use awareness, tempering of impulse, and discretion in travel. The extremities of Algol are also amplified by the eclipse square with Jupiter. This very much is indeed a dark star and an adventurer of infamy. Algol is the Demon Star, and in this time, amplified by dark energies already resident upon your world, is sought for its power by the workers of the Apex Predator syndicates.

Fear not, though, for we will show you a coded mystery which "levels" the playing field, and, indeed may play a role in shortening the days of  much suffering amongst your peoples. Let us first delve into The mysteries and mythologies of this malevolent host.

Algol is named from an Arabic word which literally means The Demons Head, or ghoul. Although being what is called a fixed star, Algol is also referred to as a "variable star”, one that tends to blink on and off as it were. Variable stars are not uncommon in your various galaxies, as you view them earthside, but Algol is perhaps, the most notorious variable. As it actually pulses with great precision over cycles of 2.867328 hours and is visible throughout its pulsations in the night sty with the naked. 
In fact, Algol's pulsations are not the work of a single stellar body, but of two. Algol is what your modern astronomers classify as the type of an eclipsing binary. These are two stars —-each of differing magnitudes —- which you view from Earth at their orbital plane. When the lesser star moves in front of the brighter, which you view from their orbital plane edge-wise; Algol appears to “blink out", then, after 2 days, 20 hours, it again “blinks” back-on. You can locate Algol in your northeastern skies on Autumn evenings, and high overhead in winter.

Now, the malevolence of Algol arises in the deeper roots of your mythologies. Algol represents What is called the Head of Medusa, the Gorgon*, who was slain by Perseus, the heroic son of Zeus, rider of the winged horse.

It is of the charter and kind of Saturn and Jupiter, known as malefactor and bringer of death, mayhem, and destruction in its raw powers.

Conversely, like all bodies, and Algol is after all a binary star; its energies manifest in duality. Expressed through unclean vessels, baser types: it inclines to brutality. But upon them in whom expresses the Light, the finer energies, and are of good spirit and nature; it does magnify higher spiritual energies.

You live in extraordinary and dangerous times. We need not remind you, but nonetheless, it is instructive to underscore that deep spells were cast upon the inhabitants of earth by the dark masters who serve agendas of depopulation, and defilement of the human race. These energies are magnified by the intense workings of the ongoing transmissions of the Central Sun upgrade codes which commenced upon Winter Solstice 2019; and whereby the spellcraft which became your corona virus event first took root.

Algol, interestingly, is also the name of a family of computer programming languages, the ALGOrithmic Languageof the UNIX operating System, which also has a process calll the daemon. It must also be noted, is deeply attached to genetics, as is Medusa, whom one may in fact call a mutant, her possessing a head crowned by live vipers in place of hair. She is associated with death by decapitation, literally or metaphorically. One might say the viper formed her corona. Algol figures heavily into the astrology of you modern pursuit of genetics and landmarks related to genetic research and the school called eugenics, which has spawned amongst you the likes of Bill Gates and Charles Benedict, the father of modern eugenics; Watson and Crick published their paper on DNA during the algon conjunct with Jupiter on April 25, 1953. The Human Genome Project commenced on December 9,1984 with the Alta Summit, when upon North Node was conjunct with t Algol. Algol, located in the Perseus constellation, is the Head of Medusa. 

Now, lest we keep you in any form of terror, let us show you the cryptic message of this present full moon eclipse (and bear in mind that Algol is an eclipse within an eclipse; a binary, dual-natured stellar body). For within it lies a reversal of the dark workings which have been visited upon your peoples. Your mythological tales which are the folklore of ancient astro-psychology, are also archetypes, foreshadowing of human interactions with the occult forces. Nothing --- we repeat--- nothing is fait accompli of what you call a “done deal”. Those who work in darkness are undone by darkness, or as you may quaintly say, "blowback is a bitch!"

Medusa, the viper-headed Gorgon was said to turn to stone anyone who gazed into her eyes. Thus, she was of the typology or archetype of hypnosis, or mind control. Paralysis. Frozen by fear. She was beheaded by the sword of Perseus, a typology of the archangel Michael, a son of the God, Zeus, known as the supreme God (Cronus or Ancient of Days). Then, in a reversal of spells, the severed head, which retained its powers to turn to stone, was fashioned as a weapon given by Perseus to the goddess Athena (a type of the sacred feminine/Holy Spirit) to place upon her shield. This wherein known in the mythological accounts was known as the device called The Gorgencian.
Now, in this period of exquisitely refined energies which are inundating your planet from the Central Sun into your local solar system; it is now possible, even probable for, to use an old adage, "turn a mighty ship with a small rudder". Though few, there are among you both human and, we would say, extra-human beings; call them warrior angels; who have seized the dark energy and begun the process by which to initiate both reversal of, and recompense, for the horrors which the dark forces, covens, elite families, and their quasi-human political, scientific, techno-media henchmen have brought amongst you.

This present Full Moon is very long in duration, and possessing geometries of profound consequence. Wo would say to you that this is not an eclipse to observe, either by sight or observance of ritual. Pull dark your windows and become still. Meditate, pray, and dream open-eyed for the influx of Divine powers to align. Perseus, the type of Michael, the Prince, archangel of the Sword of Truth. Athena, the archetype of wisdom, the Holy Spirit, who are dispatched unto the peoples of planet Earth to begin the pruning of the principalities spoken of by Daniel, the prophet, as the Prince of Persia.(Daniel 10:12-13). That He (Michael) which once restrained, now goes forward. This, by way of metaphor, as stated in Daniel, a period of 21 days.
We call each of you, to solemnly go into your place of sanctuary, the inner sanctum, the upper room, which is your spirit heart. Purpose yourselves, separately and together, as possible; to reverse the curses of the dark ones. That Michael/Perseus prevail that the Person of the Holy Spirit be upon those in the spiritual battlegrounds. That recompense be rendered upon all who have done treason to humankind and its generations. Pray for the children, seek for preservation of the weak and poor. May the Shield of the Spirit, the severed head of the Gorgon Medusa render upon them that which they sought to render upon mankind. This, than we stand watch for 21 days.

"But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days, but lo, Michael, the first and chief prince, came to help me; so I remained there with the kings of Persia." (Daniel 10:12-13)

Finally: the energy waves of this Full Moon eclipse within eclipse is a long energy pattern. Whenever you receive this message, it is an activation of your own Source power. Never entertain defeat. Never lose faith. Never give up. For the shortness of this time may be upon you all. We honor you each in your gifting, in your valor, and steadfastness. For there is so much we wish for you to know. And that, for another communication on another day.

Take from this that which is profitable. Discard that which does not resonate.

My own understanding of Algol energy, commentary response to The Receivers….

I liked this background on Algol, although I would like to add another oft overlooked piece. The three Gorgon sisters were originally considered caretakers of Gaia, our Beloved Earth, and were her daughters. The Gorgon who was Algol/Medusa was raped by the covetous ‘god’ of the sea Poseidon, and fled her tormentor and took shelter in Athena’s temple, where that goddess cursed her for defiling that selfsame temple of refuge. For this, Medusa was turned into a mutant (and the mind controlled) eyes snake haired being known as the Behenian fixed star Algol. So, of course the eugenicists (who have always walked hand-in-hand with the mind control project scientists) would seek to exploit her placement in the heavens as the harbinger of their slow march towards transhumanism. I would however, suggest, that the way to defeat the invocations of her presence for further rape and mutation of the woman carer of our Dear Gaia mother Earth, would be heal HER, heal the false naming of her as a demon and mutant and simply see her for what she was in the original account: someone trying to outrun and escape torment who was then falsely demonized for the very act of saving herself. Humanity is in a self rescue mission. And its on an individual level. For me, embracing the poignancy of Algol’s sad misuse, her false naming, her deeply misunderstood self who is no more mutant than anyone of us who seeks self preservation and is shubbed for the extraordinary measures necessary to do so. To survive. And to keep loving Gaia all the while, stay present with her through it all — that is no demon, that is the light of truth and transformation whose awareness and embodiment holds the encoded wisdom needed to defeat the gross inversion and perversion that has defiled ourselves, Gaia, humanity, our genetics and the once beloved carer of our sacred planet who was misnamed Algol. She is fixed in her steadfast position because she never left her post at Gaia’s side. She blinks on and off like a lighthouse in the darkness. Her head was maybe cut off… or maybe sticking your head inside Pandora’s box reveals more to the story than even the eugenicists ever had the arrogance to care to heal. Heal Algol, and you heal the human genome from the distortion.

Algol has a less-than-ancient status, because it is not identified in Egypt:

There exists no evidence of ancient Egyptian observation of Algol or calculation of its period, but the attested period 2.85 is very near to Algol’s (β Persei) period of variation. If this correlation exists, the Egyptians would have been the first in history to note Algol’s variation period.

That is to say, there is a "stray" observation that *might* pertain to Algol's fluctuations, but, it has no name or other identity in that intensely star-watching culture.

The name we are using is Ghoul:

A hyena who attacked a woman in Mecca in 1667 was referred to by locals as a ghul, possibly due to a perceived similarity to the creature of folklore.

Al-Dimashqi describes the ghoul as cave-dwelling animals who only leave at night and avoid the light of the sun. They would eat both humans and animals.

It's Arabian. Yes, many tales may be told of flesh-eating zombies, or other weird creatures, but the closest to "real" is in the same sense that Lilith is an Owl.


When we attach the word "demon" to something, it breaks the language. It's a Jewish word. It spontaneously appears in the Septuagint around 300 B. C. E.. It is low quality because they have obliterated the necessary prefix kako-:

The opposite of a cacodemon is an agathodaemon or eudaemon, a good spirit or angel. The word cacodemon comes through Latin from the Ancient Greek κακοδαίμων kakodaimōn, meaning an "evil spirit", whereas daimon would be a neutral spirit in Greek.

Proper Greek for Happiness is:

Following through, the star has its fullest rollout in Greek:

Earlier the name of the constellation Perseus was Perseus and Medusa's Head where an asterism representing the head of Medusa after Perseus has cut it off already known in ancient Rome. Medusa is a gorgon so the star is also called Gorgonea Prima meaning the first star of the gorgon.

In the Tetrabiblos, the 2nd-century astrological text of the Alexandrian astronomer Ptolemy, Algol is referred to as "the Gorgon of Perseus" and associated with death by decapitation: a theme which mirrors the myth of the hero Perseus's victory over the snake-haired Gorgon Medusa.

Perseus is from the older layer of myths.

As to any understanding of the myth, if people don't really have snakes for hair or anything like that, it would take some work.

That the slaying of Medusa released Pegasus is perhaps telling.

Gorgons remained as one of the most common "protector" motifs in all of Greece.

They are Daimonia and the decapitated one is:

Homer and Euripedes only know one "Gorgo", the one on Athena's shield; Hesiod provides the three names.

The meaning behind such things is inscrutable:

The mythus respecting the family of Phorcys, to which also the Graeae, Hesperides, Scylla, and other fabulous beings belonged, has been interpreted in various ways by the ancients themselves. Some believed that the Gorgones were formidable animals with long hair, whose aspect was so frightful, that men were paralysed or killed by it, and some of the soldiers of Marius were believed to have thus met with their death (Athen. v. 64). Pliny (H. N. iv. 31) thought that they were a race of savage, swift, and hair-covered women; and Diodorus (iii. 55) regards them as a race of women inhabiting the western parts of Libya, who had been extirpated by Heracles in traversing Libya.

As to their ongoing usage, they are apotropaic, they turn away the evil eye or avert other disasters.

That actually is the classical approach to things:


Former monsters now work for me.

That's in contradiction to "permanent monsters" or "absolute evil", which doesn't really have a place in these myths, being a later development.
