    Raving:

Ben Gvir: The goals of the war have not been achieved as long as Hamas remains

Smotrich: No hope should be given to the Palestinian Authority or Arabs to establish a Palestinian state in the “heart of Israel”

    while eroding:

Quote General Yahya Rahim Safavi, the senior advisor to the Supreme Leader of Iran for Armed Forces Affairs, stated that Hezbollah’s trajectory across Iraq, Lebanon, and Syria is advancing toward victory.

Speaking at a ceremony commemorating the birth of Imam Hussein (PBUH), General Safavi discussed the shifting dynamics in the region and stressed the failure of American policies.

    US Miscalculations

General Safavi pointed out that while the United States believes it has achieved victory in the region, they are gravely mistaken. He drew comparisons to the US defeat in Afghanistan, where, after 20 years, American forces were forced to retreat.

“Just as they were defeated in Afghanistan and fled, they will also be forced to retreat from Iraq,” Safavi remarked. He emphasized that Palestinian resistance significantly challenged the US-Israeli enemy and their allies.

    Israeli Enemy’s Military Struggles

Safavi further commented on the Israeli war on Gaza, asserting that the Zionist regime endured its longest war in over 75 years.

“The Zionist entity is now going through the longest war in more than 75 years of its ill-fated life. Its classical wars from 1948 to 2000 with the governments of Egypt, Syria and Jordan did not last more than a few days. However, the unlimited operations and non-classical wars with Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Palestinians after 2000 lasted from 33 to 50 days,” General Safavi continued.

    Strategic Failure of Netanyahu’s Government

According to Safavi, the war between Hamas and Israeli occupation has evolved into a prolonged war of attrition, significantly weakening Israel’s security and the moral standing of its military.
He criticized Zionist Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for failing to achieve his stated goals, which were the destruction of Hamas in Gaza and the liberation of hostages. Safavi added that the political and military strategy of the Israeli occupation regime had utterly failed.

The senior Iranian military advisor concluded by saying that after more than 455 days of indiscriminate killings of children and innocent civilians, the only outcome, he argued, was the Israeli enemy conceding to Hamas’ demands.
He pointed out that the international community witnessed how the Israeli occupation, after committing atrocities, was forced to accept a ceasefire and comply with Hamas’ demands for a prisoner exchange.

    And perhaps a bonus incursion:

Citing informed sources, Türkiye newspaper reported that Turkey is looking to build 2 military bases in Syria and deploy F-16 fighter jets in the near future.

According to this report, Turkey and Syria will sign a joint defense agreement, according to which Ankara will help Damascus in case of sudden threats.

Also, Turkish forces train Syrian forces, and 50 F16 fighters are supposed to be deployed in this country.

They like to show a few signs:

Quote This batch included Yarden Bibas and Ofir Calderon, transported inside the seized Israeli military vehicle to the handover site in Khan Yunis, located in southern Gaza. Meanwhile, American captive Keith Segal was transferred at the Gaza port.

The display of the Israeli vehicle was meant to highlight that “Israel” has not only failed to recover its captives but also failed to reclaim its lost military assets from the confrontation on October 7, 2023. However, the most striking message was the presence of Haitham Al-Hawajri, commander of the Al-Shati Brigade, whom the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) had previously claimed to have killed in their ongoing military campaign in Gaza.

Israeli Channel 13 confirmed that Hamas embeds a strategic message in every prisoner release, emphasizing that the chosen delivery locations reflect its continued control over these areas despite sustained Israeli attacks.

Segal’s handover at the Gaza port was carried out amid a dramatic military display by Qassam fighters, with Al-Hawajri visibly present.

As in previous exchanges, Al-Qassam fighters carried weapons confiscated from the IOF during Operation “Al-Aqsa Flood.” However, this time, more advanced weaponry was prominently displayed during Segal’s release.

    Hamas: “We’re still here”

The staged handover was a stark contradiction to Israeli claims that Hamas’ military capabilities had been decimated. The orchestrated scene was a clear declaration: “We’re still here.”

Another key element of the event was the condition of the captives. Palestinian sources noted that their healthy appearance reflected the ethical treatment enforced by the resistance, which prohibits harming or torturing prisoners, even high-ranking officers.

The captives’ well-being underscored Hamas’ discipline despite the loss of many of its leaders. This stood in contrast to “Israel’s” treatment of Palestinian prisoners, who are frequently subjected to torture and, in some cases, killed, as seen in the case of martyr Walid Daqqa.

Palestinian researchers drew comparisons between the conduct of the resistance—whom former Israeli Minister of War Yoav Galant labeled as “human animals”—and the actions of Israeli forces. They argued that this contrast should prompt the international community to reassess its stance on how each side treats its captives.

Yeah, what does it take for the "international community" to get the mud out of its mouth?

The couple of preceding posts assure us it is still full.

Besides, it's "toe the line", you supercilious fool. Everything you are doing is caluminating the name "America" -- what is it -- some Italian explorer?? Besides, it refers to two continents, it's not actually the name of a country. This is a temporary union of otherwise independent states, and, I am guessing you speak for New York, the "Empire State". This is a problem.

Today we may note what makes the west giddy about the new Iran -- Russia Treaty:

Markedonov referred to the rumors made by the West over the existence of alleged problems in bilateral relations between Iran and Russia, due to the absence of a mutual defense commitment clause in the agreement.

They're excited because it does not form a NATO-style bloc as of today. But it is really the re-adjustment of neighbors who have never particularly been friends:

Quote "For almost 200 years Iran and Russia have not been closer than today. Don't forget that previously our countries opposed each other in the imperial time, for example."

But now Russia and Iran are trying to overcome the negative legacy of the past, he said. adding, they try to find new options and new perspectives and it's very important.

However, Russia and Iran have had some divergences also, he underlined, pointing to the fact that Iran has its own approach to Crimea, Donbas, and Ukrainian conflict in general; and Russia, on the other hand, Russia's attempts to keep good relations with the Israeli regime can raise questions at the Iranian side.

Those good relations are less political, and owe more to the fact that many Russians are Israelis; and politically, the country cannot ignore this. However, things are not as good as they may seem, according to FM Lavrov:

Quote "There is also data on civilian victims in Ukraine on either side of the line of engagement. It varies, but all sources provide figures of almost half the number of Palestinian victims over a year. In the Ukrainian crisis, there have been almost twice as few casualties over 10 years on both sides," the minister pointed out. In his opinion, this is a "striking contrast." "And it is rather telling, that the Kyiv regime and its Western handlers prefer to keep quiet about the casualty figures among civilians during the Ukraine conflict," the Russian foreign minister added.

Getting back to the situation in Gaza, Lavrov noted that the "scale of damage to civilian infrastructure significantly surpasses the corresponding figures of Arab-Israeli wars" in the past century, which is "also quite telling."

    further:

Quote The Russian foreign minister on Tuesday accused Western nations of attempting to push Russia, China, and Iran into secondary roles in Syria, warning that such efforts are not driven by good intentions.

Speaking at the 14th Middle East Conference of the Valdai Discussion Club in Moscow, Sergey Lavrov said these moves reflect the West’s broader goal of diminishing its geopolitical competitors.

“Attempts to remove Russia, China, and Iran from the process of externally supporting a Syrian settlement are hardly motivated by goodwill. Instead, they expose the West’s intention to push its competitors into secondary positions,” he said.

Lavrov also accused Western nations, particularly the US, of creating crises and observing the outcomes from a distance.

“The West is used to destroying something, creating crises, and then watching what happens, especially the Americans, who find it interesting to observe from across the ocean,” he said. “But the Middle East is not a playground, and it should not be treated as one.”

Lavrov welcomed the ceasefire agreement between ‘Israel’ and the Palestinian group Hamas in Gaza, acknowledging the efforts to reach an agreement after prolonged negotiations at the UN Security Council.

“Of course, it is good that a ceasefire has been achieved after almost a year of efforts,” he said, noting that despite the truce, casualties continue to rise.

He further accused ‘Israel’ of not intending to leave the territories it is occupying in Lebanon and Syria, saying there are also many “credible leaks” that, in addition to expelling Palestinians from Gaza, ‘Israel’ plans to take full control of the northwest bank of the Jordan River.

Lavrov stressed the creation of a Palestinian state as “the key to all the numerous problems” in the Middle East.

He also expressed that the US, under President Donald Trump, has not yet clearly stated its position on the topic of a two-state solution in the region.

Moscow is receiving signals that there will be problems in the implementation of the second stage of the ceasefire in Gaza, Lavrov added.

So, yes, the Russian position has basically always been two-state, and, it still is, which conflicts the Likud theory.

And, those are somewhat unfavorable remarks towards a "good relation" with Israel. It's nothing new or particularly strong, but it is aware and unsupportive of that regime.

Since they don't drop hints randomly, this is probably a quiet undercurrent in the present Russian perspective, which can lead to action and/or significant vetos. So far, it sounds like the American view is that the state of Palestine is partly in Egypt, partly in Jordan, with thousands of bombs in support of that notion. They're not known to be capable of diplomacy. One would expect them to play that same broken record from the 1600s, while the regional countries that have been through these conflicts are mending the differences to protect themselves, and, possibly, extend the protection to whoever needs it.

Interesting talk... Zeteo/Mehdi Hasan with Peter Beinart

Peter Beinart is one of America’s leading Jewish columnists and political commentators. A former editor of The New Republic, he was once a supporter of the Iraq war and an ardent Zionist. But now, Beinart has questioned many of his previous positions and is a prominent voice for Palestinian liberation.

Beinart is an editor-at-large for Jewish Currents, a contributing opinion columnist at The New York Times and a political commentator for MSNBC. He also covers US foreign policy, Palestinian freedom and the Jewish people on his Substack, ‘The Beinart Notebook.’

Last week, Beinart published a provocative new book titled Being Jewish After the Destruction of Gaza: A Reckoning. In the book, Beinart calls on the Jewish community to abandon a long-held narrative of persecution and victimhood in the wake of Oct. 7 and Israel’s war on Gaza. He urges Jews to tell a new story, one that recognizes victims can also be victimizers.

He joins Mehdi for a powerful conversation about his new book, the conflation of antisemitism and anti-Zionism, and his thoughts on the ceasefire agreement.

Beinart calls Oct. 7 one of the worst days of his life, but notes that when it comes to Palestinians being killed in Gaza, they are often “nameless, faceless and generally unmentioned.”

Peter Beinart, the author of four books and a Professor of Journalism at CUNY, states that “We are talking about Palestinians constantly, but never listening to Palestinians, which is a recipe for dehumanization.”

“Israeli safety and Palestinian safety are intertwined,” Beinart tells Mehdi. “It just makes very little sense to think that you need to expose people to brutal violence and not also create conditions that endanger yourself.”

Beinart hopes that the Jewish community can “challenge the moral catastrophe that has happened” while also acknowledging how “Judaism was swallowed by ethno-nationalism.”

“If you worship states, terrible things happen,” Beinart said.

    Text:
⚡️🇸🇦🇺🇸BREAKING: Saudi Arabia’s MFA Reaponds to Donald Trump’s claims:

“The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s official stance is clear and unwavering, as reaffirmed by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister—may God protect him—in his speech during the opening session of the first year of the ninth term of the Shura Council on Rabi’ al-Awwal 15, 1446 AH (corresponding to September 18, 2024).

In his speech, His Royal Highness emphasized that the Kingdom firmly upholds the Palestinian cause and that Saudi Arabia will not establish diplomatic relations with Israel without ensuring Palestinian rights.

Furthermore, His Royal Highness reiterated this steadfast position during the extraordinary Arab-Islamic summit held in Riyadh on Jumada al-Awwal 9, 1446 AH (corresponding to November 2024). He reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to continuing efforts to establish an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. He also called for an end to Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories and urged more peace-loving nations to recognize the State of Palestine. His Royal Highness emphasized the importance of mobilizing the international community to support Palestinian rights, as reflected in United Nations General Assembly resolutions that consider Palestine eligible for full UN membership.

Moreover, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia strongly reaffirms its categorical rejection of any infringement upon the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, whether through Israeli settlement policies, annexation of Palestinian land, or attempts to forcibly displace the Palestinian people from their homeland. The international community’s duty today is to work towards alleviating the severe humanitarian suffering endured by the Palestinian people, who remain steadfast in their land and will not abandon it.

Saudi Arabia underscores that this firm stance is non-negotiable and not subject to political bargaining. A just and lasting peace cannot be achieved without the Palestinian people obtaining their legitimate rights in accordance with international resolutions. This position has been made clear to both the previous and current U.S. administrations.”

⚡️🇺🇸BREAKING: Donald Trump declares that the U.S will take over Gaza and “owning that piece of Land”.

Q: You are talking tonight about the US taking over a sovereign territory. What authority would allow you to do that? Are you talking about a permanent occupation?

Donald Trump: I do see a long term ownership position. Everybody i’ve spoken to loves the idea of the U.S owning that piece of land.
