Default The Very Best UFO Photos and Footage

I have in my possession an extensive library of UFO photographs that I've collected over a period of some thirty years and more, videos too. Unfortunately, a number of the older ones are low resolution (by today's standards) and are not worth posting, but many more are clear, high-quality images, some quite rare, which you may never have seen before.

    Hence this thread.

The intention here is to create an archive of the very best, and most compelling captures of UFOs in the public domain. Blobs of light in the night sky are not included. Only daylight images make the cut. Every attempt has been made to select the very best instances of UFOs caught on camera. The vast majority pre-date photoshop and CGI by years, and are therefore considerably more admissible. To my eye, and the researchers who have studied these cases, these are the genuine article (as best as one can tell).

    The Paul Villa Images

Paul Villa was a mechanic living in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Over a number of years he experienced face-to-face contact with a group of beings claiming to be from the planet Coma Berenice. They were humanoid in appearance, although more refined in face and form. They told Villa that they were here on a mission to understand human behaviour and to catalogue the fauna, flora, and minerals of Earth.

On multiple occasions they allowed him to photograph their ship.

This case has been researched extensively, notably by Timothy Good. Today, most researchers consider the case authentic, and his impressive collection of photographs.

In this contact, on June 19, 1966, the larger mothership deployed a remote-controlled probe, a disc about 1 metre in diameter; it is accompanied by small spheres which whirl round it.

    Much more to come...

I posted this back in January 2013 to start a thread I titled A very high-resolution UFO photo.

    -------

    Hi, All:

A friend gave me this photo last night. It was taken by a friend of his, a number of years ago, in Peru. The original was sent to Art Bell, who apparently never returned it.

This photo posted here is a high-resolution scan (which I did myself at 2400 dpi) of a good first-generation print. The digital images have not been altered or touched-up in any way.

The original high-resolution photo (5.3 Mb) can be downloaded here:

Yes, I've seen (and have) many of these, the majority being low-resolution or poor quality. What I have to show is better.

    Daniel Fry

The following images are claimed to have been taken by contactee Daniel Fry and/or his associates. A deal of controversy still surrounds this collection -- right off the bat, the first batch may not have been taken by Fry at all, but by Fritz Van Nest, a geophysical engineer. The daughter of Van Nest remains adamant these photos were taken by her father, that they've been in the family since she was a small girl and Fry was taking credit for them. The other side is that Tahahlita Fry, Daniel Fry's second wife, snapped these photos near the small town of Merlin, Oregon, in 1968. Allegedly, she was taking pictures of one of her nearby properties when the camera started taking photos 'by itself'; at the time, the sky was empty, and only upon having the film developed did she discover that something extraordinary had been captured.

Personality, I believe there's a greater than fifty-percent chance the following images are fake. I theorise Fry did have a series of genuine experiences, but not of alien beings in alien craft, but human beings in human-operated ARVs. In other words, this was a psyop. Speculating...I believe a number of the so-called "contactees" of the fifties and sixties, though honest in their claims, were not having real alien encounters, but were the subject of an ongoing experiment involving stage-managed Alien Reproduction Vehicles to create the illusion of alien contact (the 'abduction' phenomenon of the sixties onwards was the second phase of this psyop) -- at least in many cases. Fry's pictures were not even ARVs, but models of his own creation, taken to 'bolster his unprovable claims' [so that when the pictures turn up fake, lo and behold, real alien contact stories get irreparably smeared -- this is the art of the psyop]. Fry's dubious film-footage was almost certainly faked as well.

The truth in this case may never be known, but of course, decide for yourself.

    Zdany, Poland 2006

    Something new, and perhaps unfamiliar.

12.30, January 8, 2006. Two men, Maciej, 65, and Zbyszek, 60, are returning from a wedding party. Approaching a bend, a known 'black spot' for accidents, they slow down. Here they spot something, in the sky over an adjacent field, a metallic, shiny object less than a hundred yards away. A moment later the car engine stops. Another interesting detail: the vehicle behind them, a small minibus, also cuts out at exactly the same moment. Everyone gets out of their vehicles.

Zbyszek, passenger in the first car, gets out, bringing his camera (an Olympus, Model: X100, D540Z, C310Z) with him, which he'd used at the wedding. He starts rattling off pictures.

The object is about two metres in diameter and resembles two bowls welded together at the edges. It is metallic – sunlight is reflected from its surface. No engine can be heard, no fumes or smoke are visible, but in the vicinity of the object a strong wind starts blowing up when there hadn't been one before.

Eventually, the UFO starts a swift ascent and instantly flies away. All in all, the sighting lasted almost 8 minutes. When it disappears, the engines of both vehicles start with no problems.

Hi Mark (SM). Interesting premise for a thread, but I’d need more info before taking seriously the ones you don’t think are fake. Because eveything looks fake to me, at first glance.

First stickler was the June ‘66 small drone from a mothership, the second set of pics on post #1. The first pic shows it in a patch that looks added from another print. And that metallic sphere above it there, the note had plural. Or was that the mothership, with no comment. Also, those huge tall legs don’t look right, and why would they even be needed?

The example of your “post #3” (post #6 in this thread) is sketchy too. No sequence of pics, with a reference like a tree, showing movement. 2006, even in Poland, these were taken on a phone or better. My bet is, if the UAPs weren’t balloons, they were lightweight models chucked downrange for the photos.

I look forward to this thread flourishing, I guess because I am hopeful that I will see what I believe.

Scepticism is of course the default position, but I believe it is unwarranted when opposed by strong supporting evidence.

Of the Villa images, experts have studied and scrutinised them for more than sixty years now. I can tell you the negatives were first examined by William Sherwood, an optical physicist at Eastman-Kodak. No supporting wires were found, or camera-tricks detected. Based on his studies, he declared the images genuine: the objects in the images are really present and are the size they're purported to be. The photographs were also analysed by JPL (Jet Propulsion Laboratories) in Pasadena, California. Walt Disney Studies also got in on the act, and allegedly, so did the US Army. Neither could fault them. Dr Edward Condon of the University of Colorado, sponsored by the Air Force to investigate UFOs (1966-68), said they were 'the best he'd ever seen.'

Villa never made any money from the pictures, and always shied away from the limelight. He was a man of modest means, lived simply, and died in relative obscurity. Tim Good himself met him and interviewed him in 1976 and was left with nothing but a positive impression. But I think we must always still tread carefully with contactee cases, for many of them there's likely an element of fiction mixed in.

Where the line lies between fact and fiction is difficult, if not impossible, to tell, but in Villa's case, unlike certain others, I'd place him in the 'extremely plausible' bracket. His pictures are the genuine article: unknown objects tens of feet in diameter suspended aerially by means unknown.

His contact notes (with the 'space people' of Coma Berenices) are well worth reading up on.

First, I am very amateur at ufo research. I look from time to time as it is interesting but not a serious student of this topic. I tried searching the other ufo threads [100s] to place my question but they are more specific [about sightings per se] and less general and maybe my question would fit this thread. [If not, maybe a ufo expert can direct me to a better thread for discussion.]

The thing I notice with all of these photos [even outside of this thread], which are extremely interesting is the craft are all typically a small craft similar to a shuttle-craft and perhaps have limited facilities [considering some kind of biological needs] and presenting a need to rendezvous with a larger craft - a larger craft at times in history not within the capabilities of our sensors but in this day and age, certainly more possible.

However, the larger crafts are elusive. So are we to believe these small crafts afford all of the particular biological needs of life however different they may be from us and still travel great distances with great speed in order to remain elusive? Assuming forms of life have a need for energy and waste disposal or a reasonable amount of time to access such resources with short endeavors.

I mean if you think about it, some of our aviation tools are short use without facilities [fighters, helicopters] and pilots, navigators, and aircrewman still have biological needs outside of short missions [endeavors].

So is there some biological conduct of studies that address the needs of life forms even if different from humans or life on earth? Life on earth conducts a constant cycle regarding energy needs. What do we think alien life does to address these needs even if particularly advanced? And if not?

I don't know where you might find a comprehensive account of his experiences on the net, but there's an outline here, and also the book here, which is probably your best bet. Tim Good also wrote extensively about Villa in his book Alien Base.

So are we to believe these small crafts afford all of the particular biological needs of life however different they may be from us and still travel great distances with great speed in order to remain elusive? Assuming forms of life have a need for energy and waste disposal or a reasonable amount of time to access such resources with short endeavors.
From what I mostly understand, I'm led to believe the smaller craft are indeed merely scouts, it's these that operate in the atmosphere. Larger craft (from which the smaller craft are deployed) or motherships, tend to remain in space, or -- because of their size -- are invisible, or 'unmaterialised', existing outside our dimension.

I mean if you think about it, some of our aviation tools are short use without facilities [fighters, helicopters] and pilots, navigators, and aircrewman still have biological needs outside of short missions [endeavors].
I'm not sure all ETs even have biological requirements, not in the way we understand things. Certainly there are some who are not strictly 'physical', and for interactions with earth create, or 'formulate', vessels -- human bodies -- to temporarily occupy. But others eat and drink much like us, and so one imagines they have the same needs. I think it was Adamski who described an alien bathroom while on board one of the motherships. He talked about peeing into a tube with a funnel at the end that came out of a wall. But if that's true, if that really happened, I've no idea!

    (...)

    Much more to come...
Thank you Mark. When seeing these photographs, I feel like teleported back to the first years of my interest in the subject – the 80s, really. As mentioned elsewhere, A Belgian writer, Julien Weverbergh, wrote quite interesting books about the subject in those years, cool-headed and passionate. They were at the time not translated into English, although they had deserved to be, but in ...Rumanian (of Ceaucescu’s times), for which country Weverbergh had developed a strong liking, and who had quite active ufologists.

One of the photographs, the one which is about to land in a “garden” (the one just below your sentence “In this contact, on June 19, 1966, the larger mothership deployed a remote-controlled probe, a disc about 1 metre in diameter; it is accompanied by small spheres which whirl round it.”) is I think one of a small set of photographs analysed in the 80s by the University of Brussels professor of physics Prof. Mesens, who on the basis of the observed vibration concluded that the displacement during vibration while floating in the garden air reached up to several thousands of kms/hour. (Mesens was part of a Brussels and Namur University based foundation of half a dozen of scientists, called SOBEPS (Société Belge pour l’Etude des Phenomènes Spaciaux), who organised quite sophisticated presentations that I attended and authored a vast two-volume study in French on the famous "Belgian Ufo flap” where flying platforms were observed by hundreds of people. The SOBEPS lasted into the early years of this millennium an then, as the founding members were passing one after the other, it was liquidated – and I am not quite sure whether I read anywhere whether their vast archives could be salvaged.

Also I am especially interested by the photographs where two "models” can be observed, a diesel fuel engine one and an EV styled by PininFarina.

Thank you Mark, for all of these.

Just a slight off-topic remark. May I suggest that for the Forum astronomically nonsensical names like “the planet Coma Berenice” be corrected into “a planet circling a star which if visible from the earth would appear in the Coma Berenice constellation”?

Thus we could make a difference between serious ufology and the “Dracos from Draco” lore.

Astonishing clarity. The night time pics and videos are always a bit of a disappointment! Nice to see one up close and personal in daylight.

    The Paul/Evelyn Trent photos

Taken on a farm near McMinnville, Oregon, May 11th, 1950. These images were very famous in their time. They appeared in Life magazine and in newspapers across the country, and are often considered among the most famous early UFO pictures. Never debunked.

    The Paul Scheeler Photos

Little is known about these images and their provenance. Allegedly, they first appeared in a series of UFO publications in the mid-nineties. Often attributed to Ed Walters (of Gulf Breeze fame -- the craft does share a striking resemblance) these were in fact taken by Paul Scheeler, in an unknown location in Wisconsin. As far as I know, they have not been debunked.

The following images surfaced only in 2020. They were discovered in the personal collection of acclaimed researcher Wendelle Stevens. They were taken in Nevada, in June 1981. The unknown object is pictured alongside an F-117A Stealth Aircraft (a classified aircraft at the time).

A subsequent analysis determined that the prints depicted a "three dimensional object between the viewer and the jet that was there at the time the shutter was opened." Further, the print was established to have been developed in the 1980s, lending further credibility to the 1981 date.

    The Green Bay Disk

Four more images that haven't been debunked. Some have called this a fancy drone, but nothing like this was available on the market when these images first appeared (2007). Tell-tale signs of digital manipulation are also absent. Digital analysis determined the object in the scene was physically present when the pictures were taken, and it is positioned behind the branches, implying considerable scale.

    Date: January 2007
Location: Green Bay, Wisconsin, United States
