The biggest current transportation project which I had not heard of.

Not breaking news, because it’s been in progress for over a year, and is scheduled for completion in 2029.

Hat tip to Paula for this thread!

My first question, unanswered by the article, is how are they avoiding pipelines and cables on the busy Baltic Sea floor?

A vast undersea tunnel is being built that will change the road and rail map of Europe

Quote On the shores of the Baltic Sea, in the south of Denmark, a vast engineering marvel is taking shape — piece by giant concrete piece — that, when finished, will drastically redraw the road and rail maps of Europe.

The Fehmarnbelt tunnel may not have grabbed the popular imagination in the same way as the Channel Tunnel between Britain and France did more than 30 years ago, but this structure is just as impressive, if not more so.

Linking Denmark and Germany, the Fehmarnbelt will carry two-lane road highways under the water in both directions, plus two electrified rail lines — a multiple tube thoroughfare that will plunge beneath the waves of one of the world’s busiest shipping lanes.

At 18 kilometers (11.2 miles), it’s nowhere near as long as the 50-kilometer (31-mile) Channel Tunnel, but in many other ways it’s bigger. The project will, in fact, be the world’s longest road and rail tunnel, and the world’s longest immersed tunnel.

As an “immersed” tunnel, instead of being dug through solid land mass like the Channel Tunnel, the Fehmarnbelt is made using prefabricated concrete sections which are dropped into a trench dug on the seafloor, linked together, and then buried.

Last month, in February 2025, the first precast concrete tunnel sections, called elements, left the factory in Rødbyhavn, on the Danish side of the tunnel, completing Part One of a groundbreaking journey from land to sea that is scheduled for completion in 2029.

The 7.4 billion-euro (US$7.7 billion) project is a huge undertaking, in every sense.

Each section of the tunnel is colossal. These concrete structures measure 217 meters (712 feet) long, 42 meters wide and nine meters deep, weighing in at a crushing 73,000 tons — equivalent to 10 Eiffel Towers.

In all, 79 of these “standard” elements and 10 shorter “special” elements measuring 39 meters long (which will house the tunnel’s electrical installations) will be laid end-to-end, from Rødbyhavn on Lolland Island to Puttgarden on the German island of Fehmarn, creating the full tunnel up to 40 meters beneath the Baltic Sea.

    Concrete proposal

Everything about the project is vast. The purpose-built factory is the world’s largest tunnel-making facility and combined with the work harbor covers an area of 220 hectares — the size of over 300 soccer pitches.

Three cavernous construction halls containing six production lines (five for standard elements, one for special elements) are currently working around the clock producing one 217-meter element every nine weeks.

Cast around dense cages of reinforcing steel, each concrete element consists of nine 24-meter-long segments. Once cured the element is pushed forward into the upper basin, a large staging area in front of the factory, where it undergoes quality checks and outfitting.

“We try to install as much of the equipment as possible that will later be needed in the finished tunnel,” Denise Juchem, a spokesperson for Femern A/S, the state-owned Danish company in charge of the project, told CNN.

“This saves time later and reduces the logistical challenges for the work in the immersed tunnel. In addition, monitoring equipment is installed so that we can check the interior of the element at any time during transport and immersion.”

Ballast tanks are fitted for stability and steel bulkheads are secured at either end of each section to make them watertight. Sealing the elements off like this enables them to float, despite their mammoth tonnage.

The first floating was successfully completed in early February when the upper basin was sealed off from the factory and slowly flooded with almost a billion litres of seawater. Once floated, the element was towed into the lower basin in preparation for its final voyage to the tunnel trench.

A date for the immersion of the first element hasn’t been finalized but preparatory work is in full swing, says Juchem.

“This is a very complex and also very weather-dependent process. We are currently testing the highly complex vessels that have been specially built for our project.”

    Buoyed up

Enter “Ivy 1” and “Ivy 2,” the two immersion pontoons whose job it will be to make sure each element is safely lowered into place.

The pontoons will attach to either end of the element before a small fleet of tugboats will pull them into position above a 12-meter deep, 100-meter wide, gravel-lined trench completed last year.

The immersion will be overseen from a control room aboard the pontoon. Winches with steel wire totaling over 200 kilometers will be used to lower the element while the ballast tanks will be filled with water aiding a safe and steady descent to the seafloor.

Underwater cameras and bespoke positioning equipment will guide the element into place with a precision of up to 12 millimeters. Giant rubber gaskets and secondary seals engineered to last 120 years ensure the tunnel is watertight.

When the first immersion goes ahead later this year, Juchem estimates that it will take around 40 hours to complete, including transportation from the work harbor. The pontoon’s crew of 22 are undergoing intensive training.

“There will be no test run for the actual immersion,” Juchem says. “It must work the first time. We will not compromise on quality and safety. That is why we are taking the necessary time to ensure that we are perfectly prepared.”

    Tunnel vision

Construction of the two tunnel portals at Rødbyhavn and Puttgarden is progressing. Both sites are a stone’s throw away from the ports which they will supersede, slashing journey times from 45 minutes by ferry to 10 minutes by car and seven minutes by train.

A traveler wanting to take the train from Hamburg to Copenhagen has a near five-hour journey at present but that time will be cut in half when the tunnel opens.

“The Fehmarnbelt tunnel will be a game-changer for tourism in Denmark and the wider Scandinavian region,” Mads Schreiner, International Market Director at VisitDenmark, told CNN.

“By significantly reducing travel time between Germany and Denmark, it will make our country more accessible than ever for visitors from central Europe. We expect to see a rise in self-drive tourism, weekend city breaks, and sustainable travel options such as train and cycling tourism.

“This new connection presents incredible opportunities for destinations in Eastern Denmark, as more travelers will explore beyond Copenhagen.”

The tunnel also comes with a challenge for Denmark to renew and expand facilities for the expected influx of new travelers, Schreiner says.

“It is crucial that we ensure visitors choose to stay and experience Denmark rather than just passing through. By investing in infrastructure and creating compelling visitor experiences, we can maximize the tourism potential of this historic project.”

    Sustainable future

Inevitably with such a big infrastructure project, concerns have been raised over its environmental impact on marine and coastal habitats.

In November 2020, a federal court in Germany dismissed an appeal against the project’s planning approval over a range of claims including environmental concerns. And in 2022, an emergency application to halt dredging near Puttgarden was also rejected.

Femern A/S says it is committed to protecting the environment and where the impacts of construction are unavoidable they are creating new natural areas elsewhere.

For example, the 15 million cubic meters of seabed materials excavated from dredging has been deposited in new areas of reclaimed land in Lolland and Fehmarn.

“These sites are part of the natural environment that Femern A/S is establishing as a replacement for the areas affected by the project, and they will eventually develop into extensive wetlands with beach meadows, marshes and dry grassland,” Femern CEO Henrik Vincentsen wrote in the company’s 2023 Sustainability Report.

“Femern A/S aims to leave not just more, but better, nature than before the project started.”

Dr. Ken Berry: Any words of wisdom, words of advice for family members who have an elderly relative who hasn't yet broken that hip or hasn't yet had that medical condition where all of a sudden now they need assisted-living or a nursing home?

Hal Cranmer: I would say keep them as active as you can. Feed them a good diet. Don’t just expect the doctors to come up with some miracle thing or this the medication. The doctors can only do so much. What’s really going to help you and your elderly person is really convincing him to adopt a better lifestyle. You can do this. You can live at home. I‘ve seen a 95 year-old in Home Depot planning out a new project. It's all in the lifestyle. It's not in the pharmaceuticals.

So many of our beloved Seniors could drastically improve their health and return to productive life with a few simple changes in diet and lifestyle. We go over what it takes to optimize Senior health in this video. Elderly folks have so much wisdom and love to share with their family, but they can't do it if they are stuck in a dark nursing home, taking 20 medications a day and eating a junk diet.

Hal Cranmer currently owns and operates four assisted living homes in very unique ways. He doesn't believe in warehousing our elderly until they die.

    Be Careful Of Patreon
I can't verify this but ȺɾìҽӀ @Prolotario1 on twitter is presenting his facts as why he does not want to provide his personal details on Patreon, he is highlighting the dangers of Patreon.

Patreon is trying to strong-arm me into providing personal info in order to gain access to my account.

Here is why I objected. This is what I sent.

With all due respect. I am uncomfortable with providing personal info that was not required previously for creating my Patreon account. And I say this for various reasons. One being that I am very aware that In 2022, Patreon laid off their entire in-house security team five key personnel, including privacy engineer Emily Metcalfe and shifted to outsourcing security to external firms. This move, confirmed by Patreon to media outlets like CyberScoop, raised eyebrows among cybersecurity experts because it signaled a potential downgrade in direct oversight of sensitive user data.

This makes me very uncomfortable in providing something that can be used against me and utilized to personally track me down by unofficial parties affiliated with unknown figures who have found issues with my content. Especially when I am talking about certain figures who are curious as to how I acquire certain info. I currently have a X account that has 460k+ followers. So the sudden influx of subscribers on Patreon is very explainable if anyone on Trust & Safety Board found that as just cause to flag my account. Here is the link. I want access to my account without getting lawyers involved is a very simple request that doesn't require personal info being given to for something I already owned that was 100% legal and transparent.

Because if Patreon’s collecting my info, the immediate danger isn’t necessarily from Patreon itself but from who might access it downstream. Shadow operatives let’s define them as covert actors, whether state-sponsored or rogue could target me if my profile fits a pattern of interest: dissent, influence, or association with sensitive topics. The 2015 breach proves data can leak. The outsourcing of security suggests less control over who handles it. And the U.S. intelligence community’s track record buying data from brokers, as admitted by spy chief Avril Haines in 2024 means my info could end up in a database like XKeyscore, cross-referenced with your online activity, without me ever knowing.

    Also in the comments.

    ȺɾìҽӀ @Prolotario1 ·8h

Gina, these people operate in the most anonymous manner while trying to fish you out for personal info that they themselves do not want to provide as to the person/people responsible for removing your channel. The only reason they do this is avoid attempting to explain why they deactivate certain accounts who do not break any rules or bylines & guidelines. Patreon is controlled opposition.

    Hypnogogia

I had the most amazing experience yesterday which I've never been aware of before. I'd spent all day painting (decorating) and felt very tired, but the paint fumes had made my eyes sore and so I decided to put a heated eyepad on for 10 minutes and lay down. Just as I was falling asleep my son came into my room with a cup of tea (bless him) and I was suddenly aware that I was quietly hallucinating

In that indefinable moment between waking and falling asleep I became aware that my mind was creating a repetative vision of slow-motion slinkies, all with little smiling faces, slinking down, down, down and across and down and across, in a rhythmic and undulating fashion, a little kaleidoscope, a little bit psychedelic, a little bit space invaders. The slinkies were a deep rust colour and the background was turmeric and indian spice colours, all blending and merging. So comforting and relaxing, but weird as well.

Once fully awake I wondered whether it was in fact the DMT which is stored in the human brain operating in a hypnosis-like manner and which we're normally unaware of and so I went online and found a name for it - HYPNOGOGIA. And what do you know, it's a common occurrence too with many videos on You Tube. Here's one with a short explanation. I can't wait for my next "trip" and would highly recommend it to everyone, although perhaps it was the paint fumes, who knows?

Woke is Dead. This is the Funeral. Watch the Eulogy. (36 min)
Hollywood and America won’t know what hit them. The Woke Monologues is a cultural exorcism wrapped in savage comedy. From cancel culture to virtue signaling and victimhood economics, this film delivers a brutal eulogy for wokeness. Raw comedy. Real truths. Unfiltered humor. A takedown no one saw coming. It’s time to laugh, cry, and reclaim sanity. This isn’t just another video—it’s the funeral for woke.

    FAT: A Documentary | Health & Wellness | Weight Loss |

Ancel Keys was famous for something called ”The Seven Country Study.” This is where he went and study seven different countries and came up with this hypothesis as to how we're supposed to eat based on correlation. Ancel Keys is the one who proposed what he called “The Diet Heart Hypothesis,” and that was that saturated fat and dietary cholesterol would give you a heart attack. Especially saturated fat like hot oil down a cold stove pipe. It would just clog up your arteries and give you a heart attack.

The problem was he cherry picked these countries that fit what he was trying to hypothesize. He set out to prove that more calories you got the better chance of getting heart disease. It seemed like a straight line between the lease fat consume and the most fat consumed with the US at the top. The only problem was Keys studied 22 country and if you factor in all of those countries, the results are all over the place. He just took the countries that prove that fat causes heart disease. This study made Keys the temporary savior of the medical community and therefore the world. Such that he was able to get onto the American Association Nutrition Committee and he turned the whole association around in one year and got them in 1961 to recommend that all Americans restrict saturated fat and cholesterol in their diet in order to fight heart disease.
”Dietary fats and its Relation to Heart Attacks and Strokes, most person in the United States, who are overweight, will find profitable to reduce their total caloric intake reducing the amount of fat in the diet is one way to do this. In addition to the possibility that atherosclerosis will be prevented, obesity will certainly be controlled.”
This is the first advice anywhere in the world, telling people not eat saturated, fat and cholesterol to fight heart attacks. That’s like the beginning of it all. That is what just blossom, bloomed, grew into the giant oak tree of advice that we have now.

We have no credible evidence to say that saturated fat causes heart disease, and that sounds crazy to say when you look at our government guidelines and our dietary guidelines, but there is no high-level credible evidence to show that saturated that causes heart disease.

FAT: A Documentary | Health & Wellness | Weight Loss
FAT tells the far-fetched but completely true history of how our country became so unhealthy. In 1970, just over 1.5 million people had been diagnosed with Diabetes in the United States. Now over 30 million have Diabetes.

What's even more alarming is that 100 million people, 1 in 3, have Diabetes or are Pre-Diabetic. This is not to mention the 40% of the population that is obese.

"How is this possible with the non-stop flow of new diets, exercise machines and our general obsession with health and weight loss? " We're as unhealthy as ever.

The truth is that we have pretty much had everything completely upside-down and backward. FAT traces a detailed history spanning 150 years to show how misinformation and outright lies have become “truth.”

Good point. My guess is that’s something to take up with Steven Bartlett, The Diary Of A CEO. He’s the one responsible for writing the summary. His contact information is found at the bottom of StevenBarlett.com.

Dr. Richard Schulze on healing through diet, lifestyle changes, and the power of herbs

Interview by Chris Wark of Chris Bea Cancer, https://www.chrisbeatcancer.com

Dr. Richard Schulze is a renowned natural healer, herbalist, and founder of the American Botanical Pharmacy. After being diagnosed with a severe heart condition at 16, he defied the medical prognosis and healed his heart through lifestyle changes, herbal treatments, and detoxification practices. His journey led him to study under some of the world's top natural health experts, and over decades of clinical practice, he treated thousands of patients, many of whom overcame diseases that conventional medicine deemed incurable.

Dr. Schulze's healing methods and herbal formulas are now used globally, helping people heal from chronic diseases like cancer, heart disease, and neurological conditions. He has taught at prestigious institutions such as Cambridge and Oxford and continues to share his knowledge through books, seminars, and his innovative products. His work has reshaped the natural healing field, proving that self-healing is possible without drugs or surgery.

Dr. Schulze's life mission is to empower people to take control of their health through natural healing, and his legacy continues to inspire both patients and practitioners worldwide.

I'm extremely thankful for Dr. Schulze's wisdom, knowledge, and impact in my life. I hope you enjoy this life-changing conversation!

Didn't know where to put this, but this lady is one of our local folks. It amazed me to realize today that she is now 108, and still playing!

Violet Hensley is considered one of the oldest living links to country music's past:
    Age: 108 years old
Known by numerous names including the “Whittling Fiddler” and the “Stradivarius of the Ozarks,” Grand Ole Opry performer, actress, fiddler, and designated “Living Treasure,” Violet Hensley is likely the oldest living link to country music’s past. Born on October 21, 1916 to George Washington Brumley and Nora Springer Brumley, that would make her 108 years old.
She learned how to make fiddles from her father who made his first fiddle in 1888 using hand tools. Violet Hensley was married at the age of 18 and had nine children, but always found the time to pursue her passion for fiddle making. A Violet Hensley-made fiddle is considered a treasure and a masterpiece. It wasn’t until later in life when she began to be known as a performer, releasing three album, Old Time Fiddle Tunes (1974), The Whittling Fiddler and Family (1983), and Family Treasures (2004).
Violet Hensley also appeared on The Beverly Hillbillies (1969), The Art Linkletter Show (1970), Captain Kangaroo (1977), and Live with Regis and Kathy Lee (1992). She’s been featured in National Geographic and other periodicals, and she made her Grand Ole Opry debut at the tender age of 99 on August 6th, 2016.

This is TIBET: Where Earth Meets Sky, Part 1 I S2, EP120

Tibet, often called the “Roof of the World,” is a land of striking contrasts and deep spiritual roots. Its landscape is defined by vast plateaus, snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas, crystal-clear lakes, and sweeping grasslands that stretch toward the sky. This dramatic natural setting is deeply intertwined with Tibetan culture, which is shaped by centuries of Buddhist tradition. Monasteries dot the landscape, where monks chant ancient scriptures and colorful prayer flags flutter in the wind. Life in Tibet revolves around a profound connection to nature and spirituality, reflected in its festivals, art, music, and everyday rituals.

My guess was disgrace - "loss of reputation or respect as the result of a dishonorable action." It's defined in the article as disgratz [sic].
Alina Saad Habba is an American lawyer who is currently serving as a Counselor to the President in the second Trump administration. Between 2021 and 2025, Habba was a legal spokesperson for President Donald Trump, and a senior advisor for MAGA, Inc., Trump's Super PAC.
Trump advisor claims in video she found Biden's 'fake Oval Office’

WASHINGTON (TNND) — Alina Habba, an advisor to President Donald Trump, posted a video on social media platform X Tuesday of what she called former President Joe Biden’s “fake Oval Office.”

She is shown sitting at a desk in front of a paneled wall with a White House logo and American flag.

“You guys, I just finished a show. Look at the room that they put me in,” Habba says before the shot zooms out and pans around the space. “We’re in Biden’s fake Oval Office, everybody.”

The inside of the Oval Office the former president used did not feature the paneled wall or a logo of the White House like the ones shown in Habba’s video. Still, she said she “actually figured this out.”

“I now know why, I now get it,” Habba added.

There is a teleprompter in the room, according to the counselor, along with a blue sofa, a golden chair, a side table and television screens. There are also light fixtures attached to the ceiling.

"There is a screen, teleprompter to the face. All I can say is the last administration was a disgratz [sic],” Habba said.

The Oval Office Biden used had light, patterned walls with photos of American figures like George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson and Ben Franklin. He had two golden sofas and a golden chair, among other pieces of furniture.

The National News Desk requested comment from Biden's agency on Thursday around 4 p.m.

    article

I've just heard William Ramsey, who has a good reputation for knowing his stuff, say that Alina Habba's father is the chairman of the American Knights of Malta.

He goes on to explain a bunch of relationships and dynamics of the secret orders and what they masquerade as. The people he names as members of the Knights of Malta make an odd list. The Knights of Malta 'identify' as "Christian" but the historical record of many of it's members tells a different story more like the Vatican than Christ, though they are definitely not with the Vatican crowd, apparently, and very opposed to communism and islam ( so I infer from that it includes the people who created and have used communism and Islam, probably the mithraen/Roman nobles )

If this kind of thing interests you, this is a good coherent listen to a guy who has decades of research under his belt and managed to keep his sanity and balance on the ground under his feet.

The World's Highest Security Prison: CECOT (The most evil are kept here)
    (20:51)

I watched this yesterday and was struck at the high security and limited space afforded to the inmates and wondered about their Human Rights. You'll see as the documentary progresses that they don't have many at all and appear to have forfeited them when they passed through the doors.

Here's a link to an article about the Human Rights Watch at this prison dated March 2025.
    https://www.hrw.org/news/2025/03/20/...g-v-trump-case

The comments under the YT video are also telling from the people of El Salvador, who now feel freely able to move around in their neighbourhood now that the gangs have been largely dissipated.

Tbh, having watch this short documentary, I don't know how I feel about it. Is it a deterrent? Sure it is if you know what lies ahead before you commit the crime but what struck me was that they are all so young and they're all in there for life which is a living death. There's also more than one person in there who's completely innocent.
"Welcome to CECOT, the world’s largest prison by capacity in El Salvador which was constructed to imprison the worst of the worst. Those who enter this prison are destined to never leave here.

This is the world’s strictest and largest mega prison. It has a capacity of 40,000. Built in 2022, this massive prison is made up of eight separate modules spread over 410 acres of land. Each pair of modules is enclosed by two separate 3-meter-high walls with razor wire. The entire facility is surrounded by a towering 9-meter-high wall with a 3-meter-high electric fence carrying 15,000 volts. Nineteen watchtowers are ensuring nothing escapes notice. The entire design doesn’t just prevent escape, it erases the very idea of it.

There's also an exclusive interview with one of the inmates, who is 41 years old. In this interview, he reveals what life inside CECOT is really like."
btw there are several other very interesting documentaries on this YT channel:

"Is there an idea more radical in the history of the human race than turning your children over to total strangers whom you know nothing about, and having those strangers work on your child's mind, out of your sight, for a period of twelve years?" John Taylor Gatto
