Here and now ..just listened to a really funny female stand up comic. Which is quite rare, let's be honest.

Her name is Leonarda Jonie, and she spares NOBODY. To say she is vigorously anti-woke would be an understatement. She's out there letting it fly, and not giving one single f#ck. I can't believe I haven't heard of her till now. The video heading is MOST BANNED COMEDIAN, and having dug into her background a little, it's true. Even in the era of Trump she's having some difficulty with the cancel culture brigade.

She won't be everyone's cup of tea, but I view what she symbolizes as being far more important than her comedy. She couldn't have even existed a couple years ago.

13 minutes long. The video poster offers his 2 cents in small bits in the beginning, which is annoying, but the rest of the video plays mostly uninterrupted:
She is very funny, i prolly laughed when i shoudnt have, but the one about woopi goldberg was hilarious, cheers Mike.
Ide not heard of this women before but glad i got to know about her, ill be YTing all night now.
Hey Mike there is this Aussie comedian that i only recently found and his sense of humor is just like Leonarda, he tells a story about taking his best mate to a brothel before he dies of MD....................RRR
The more people i met, the more i liked my dog.

    There was so much wonder
    Joy didn’t need a reason
The laughter echoed in summer evenings
Excited just because the sun came up
    Everything felt possible
You never questions whether you belonged

    Please come back.

You didn’t need words to feel understood
    The stars were closer, right?
The dreams that lived under your pillow
    Barefoot through the grass
…before the world told you who to be
You didn’t need permission to feel this
When did your dreams get smaller than your fears?
When did you trade curiosity for caution?
They’ll remember your love - not your work
What if it’s okay to be absurdly forgiving of yourself?

    Please come back.

Do you still feel the wonder you once had?
When did you stop believing you were enough?
The quiet spaces in your heart…are calling you back
That precious kid is still here
    They don’t deserve this
    You know it
The deathbed is waiting - don’t wait to live
Who were you before the world distracted you?
    You’ve forgotten your real name
    Say it
    I’m me

    Come back, please.

Thank you Paula (Running Deer), what a lovely video. How wonderful and simple life was, (at least I thought so). There were places to explore where no one went, discoveries to be made with the kids in your own area. Cubbies to be built with the simplest of materials, and best of all our imaginations were huge and colourful and creative. The water was safe to swim in, adventure was around every corner, and I never really worried about "strange" people. Everyone was just who they were.

I still love all the beauty that we share, each plant and creature and wonderous being, there is so much still to celebrate, and to nurture back to health, the way we want it.

    Let it be so again

I spent a lot of time fixing my truck lately. All of the front suspension was replaced with high quality parts, it was a big job, it took me a long time and a lot of money. But I'm happy I did it. So I've driven it twice now no problems. I went to take it out again and the transmission is acting up. It's really frustrating but I count my blessings, at least I live in a place with a fantastic supply chain and I can get the parts I need quickly.

I'm trying to stay positive but man is this testing me lol. Whoever first said it is right, "cars are pain."

I remember replacing a water pump in an Altima sedan back in early 2000's. Those were the days when the engines were simpler and we could replace and service lot of the parts to the engine. I taught my nephew how to do it, and later he was able to replace that water pump again years later.

Funny you say that, water pump is on my to-do list. If you google image search what a water pump gasket looks like on a 2000 tacoma 2.4l it'll give you a chuckle if you have a childish sense of humor like I sometimes do lol.

Question for whoever this applies to:
As I mentioned earlier I'm changing the way I post on Avalon when it comes to certain topics. I write my post out in a word processor and then copy/paste it to Avalon. This works great for someone like me who has trouble getting all my thoughts in order (I still have trouble but it's much better this way). There is a small problem with formatting though. Last time I did this I wrote up my reply in LibreOffice, copy/pasted to Google Docs, then to Avalon. The format was really funky and needed some tweaking. Any of yall have experience with this and a better solution?

    Thanks in advance!

    • Paste your text.
    • Click the little box at the top right of the post.
    • Then click the little box at the top LEFT of the post. That removes all formatting and restores everything to default.

Thank you, I'll give it a shot on my next big post. I'm writing one for my 'give your younger self advice' thread which hopefully will be done before the week is done. The standard font is different between libreoffice, google docs and avalon as well as other things like line spacing. So pasting was a bit funky lol but no biggy.

Here's a feel good video for yall. I'm a sucker for these kinds of videos and I know some of yall are as well. A guy set up a sign "Free Hugs" and blindfolded himself to see how folks would react and how many would take him up on the offer.

Startling story about a yoga pose that caused major damage to a student. The Bridge. It is an inverted, advanced pose.

The reason I was interested is because I also hurt myself badly last year and I wanted to know if it was the same pose. It was.

For me, I popped my hip bone right out of its socket. Luckily it popped back in right away. But it hurt for weeks afterwards.

I stopped doing all yoga after that. I only keep up my small morning routine that includes a few basic yoga poses.

So be careful. Yoga is a serious discipline with serious repercussion if trifled with.

She, like me, probably hadn't been properly prepared to do such an advanced pose. A bit of warm up is not enough. It takes months of devotion, practising every day, to even attempt the advanced poses.

But also, do not be scared off. Yoga is extremely beneficial and is for everyone if kept to a moderate level. Just do not try the advanced poses 'just for fun'.

Yes that's it! That is the first pose of a series, leading to a full inverted pose, with extension.

I participated in a yoga class called, “Gentle Yoga for the Elderly”. I still keep up with it at home but I do only the poses that I like and skip the yucky ones.

Chi Kung, Tai Chi, yoga, walks, dumb bells and sprints up my stairs round out what I do stay fit. The diversity helps me stay on task.

Maybe yall can help me find the name of someone:

I listened to an interview on the Shawn Ryan Show about a month ago of a woman who was close to Biden and worked for Legacy Media like CNN or something. She later became pushed out from her inner circle and relentlessly ridiculed for speaking out about issues with Biden. From what I recall she wasn't very critical at the time, just 'dared' to ask questions. She lost all her friends and her career path was permanently changed (IIRC). She spoke from personal experience about some of the people who were more or less doing a lot of his work for him. Basically it was a lot of young people. I don't remember the details of this interview and I want to look into her claims further. It was an important interview so I need to find her name. If anyone knows of her I'd appreciate it if you can post her name or send it to me. If I find it I'll post it in here as an update to this post as well as post it in the Shawn Ryan thread I made.

    Much love, thanks in advance.

I watched the interview. I'd very much like to believe in her sincerity, but to me she comes off as one of the losers on Team A begging the winners of Team B to accept her into their ranks. It feels a little oily and sycophantic to me. Whether it's Shawn or Tucker or any of the other conservatives she speaks to, she approaches the interview with excessive flattery and a kind of feigned innocence and victimhood. Maybe I'm being too cynical, but I can't escape that feeling.

I moved a couple of new posts about one man's remarkable solo ocean journey (with his cat!) to the Humans Are Amazing thread, where that topic better belongs.

(No-one's ever fully defined the theme of this thread here, but it's really all about interesting, intriguing, or moving personal oddities that Avalon members think about, notice, or experience in their daily lives.)

Humans are all amazing, in my opinion. So we could post all the people stories there? Nope, please.

These stories here are about how one guy is dealing with a dire physical prognosis, spinal structure is ~collapsing, and he was given 4 years iirc.

Def not Breaking News, but the Here and Now thread has always been about heart stories like this.
