The woke don't just co-opt movements like these, they co-opt language in general (i.e. "violence" "safety" "white supremacy" ..and most notoriously all the language around sex and "gender"). Often they're speaking the same language as everyone else but with entirely different meanings. It's all done deliberately.

In effect they've created what James Lindsay calls a simulacrum, or a false reality superimposed on objective reality. It's done thru language, and creates all kinds of disorientation. It forces the average person to be constantly vigilant of this misdirection. It's exhausting.
It's an important note about language. It's similar to the "words of art" employed in the legal realm. Simple terms like "employee," "person," "taxpayer," and "income" are some "words of art" they statutorily redefine in order to coerce people out of money each year. The legal system has literally weaponized language against the common man, because the common man doesn't suspect it, and often isn't either intelligent enough, interested enough, or have enough free time to fully educate themselves on such a dreary topic as the legal system, especially in the field of taxes. My point, in relation to the language you speak of above, is that even the most intelligent people have been deceived by language on some level. The legal world is nothing but deception, dreamed up by lawyers/politicians/snakes who want to take your money.

Yes, constant vigilance. Unfortunately, it seems the average person isn't up to that task and would rather scream, "Give him a ticket!!!!!"

    And yes, it is exhausting...

Why would there need to be any title change? Nothing in the original suggests exclusivity to the woke only. That the woke are, like many other groups, supporting to some extent the Palestinians over the Israel crowd seems like a no-brainer to me.

That's really interesting about legal language. Thanks for that.

I was just talking to a friend about all this. Whether it comes to UFO's, woke, deep corruption in healthcare or government, or (fill in the blank), I just think your average individual is too busy to be doing deep dives into all this stuff. I have to keep reminding myself that most people have families and are far too busy to do anything outside of tending to and nurturing them.. and when presented with information like we're offering here in this thread, are usually too exhausted to sit around and parse all the weaponized language in order to have a grasp on the situation. They'd rather be drinking beer and watching tv in their precious free time, and tho I find it disappointing I have a hard time blaming them.

And also I think a great many remain willfully ignorant. To become aware is to suffer a nagging sense of responsibility to act, and very few have it in them. And then there's the fear angle; to accept you're being deceived by our most "trustworthy" institutions is old hat here, but still kind of traumatizing to most of the population. They just don't want to know (I kind of fell into this camp at one point)

The constant vigilance required is tiresome and demoralizing. Even here on Avalon I can feel the collective psychic eye roll when woke stuff is evoked lol.. and I totally get that btw. It's an ideology designed to force resignation and complicity thru constant rhetorical bludgeoning. And it's very good at it.

Hi Jim, It's the reason the woke support Palestine that inspired the thread. Their reasons are self-serving and inauthentic imo, and do not align with the sincere support they receive here and elsewhere. It's important to separate the 2 camps.

    Language.. tiens, tiens..

Mike could you explain whether the title of the thread means:

    (1) Why do all woke support Palestine?
    (2) Why do some woke support Palestine?

And then, last but not least could you give a definition of "woke” (I suppose it is in the dictionary?) ((I mean: I suppose it is in a dictionary?))

Please understand that for somebody whose English is not so bad, has spoken the language for at least sixty years etc. "woke" is a new word. As a result, this person (I) does not understand what the word means. It would be nice if you or anybody else who knows what it means explains to that person (me) what it means.

As soon as I know what it means I can then try and formulate an answer – at least if you can disentangle my puzzlement about whether "the" woke or "some" woke is meant.

    Thank you for the trouble.

    Hi Michel, no problem.

The most succinct definition of woke is one I heard today from Andrew Doyle, and it goes like this: woke is a cultural revolution that aims to achieve equity according to identity through authoritarian means.

Equity = equality of outcome = Marxism.

I've always explained woke as being a species of Marxism, but instead of the bourgeoisie vs proletariat it's black vs white, straight vs gay, trans vs everyone, men vs women, etc. It seeks to create fault lines wherever it can (or augment already existing ones) all while claiming to be trying to remedy those fault lines.

It's grievance culture. It divides the world into 2 categories: the oppressor and the oppressed. And if offers reductive, very low resolution remedies to solve the issues that either a) don't truly exist to begin with, b) only exist because the woke created them, c) do actually exist on some level but are dramatically exaggerated to justify radical action.

The woke, like the Marxists, only see the world thru the lense of power. Either you have power or you don't. Those that have it are labeled the "oppressors" and those that don't the "oppressed". They seek (at least superficially) to even the playing field thru Marxist/Communist activism..which they call "equity".

It's anti-west, anti-merit, anti-personal responsibility, anti-capitalism, anti-reason, anti-enlightenment values, anti-classical liberalism, and lots of other anti's I can't conjure at the moment. Most recently it's become a unionization of colors and creeds and "genders" vs straight white men, more or less.

Do all woke people support Palestine?
The woke are typically narcissists, so it's not obvious to me that they support anything outside of their pathological need for attention and power. It's mostly mentally ill theatre. The most deranged float to the top of the heap and the rest follow. But they're all under the spell to some degree or other. Surely you could find some woke folks who genuinely care about Palestine, but at scale it's a disingenuous and phony movement. Their support of Palestine is largely a superficial affectation imo, used as a proxy to achieve what they're really after, which is narcissistic satisfaction and power over others.

In the simplest terms, "woke" is the hijacking and bastardization of "awake," of the real awakening process everyone here has experienced to at least some degree. It's a weaponization of the language yet again by turning awake into woke, inverting, perverting, and muddling the similar terms to the negative which sounds like the positive, i.e., the Patriot Act, United Nations, Planned Parenthood, fill in the blank to eternity. Correct me if I'm wrong here but it came into being, at least this recent version, at the same time as BLM and Antifa and soon became their call to recruitment, it even specifically referrences BLM in the Merriam Dictionary Definition:

"Woke is now defined in this dictionary as “aware of and actively attentive to important facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice),” and identified as U.S. slang. It originated in African American English in the first half of the 20th century and gained more widespread use beginning in 2014 as part of the Black Lives Matter movement. By the end of that decade it was also being applied by some as a general insult for anyone who is or appears to be politically left-leaning."

People were waking up, Trump got elected, the woke was their attempt to regain control of the narrative, to divert those almost awake, curious and looking for answers, down the wrong alleys and into the wrong camp. It's good to see the current motto of this group is now: "Go woke, go broke."

    Thank you Mike.

But do I have to thank you, actually?

I ask for a definition of "woke" and you offer "cultural revolution.."

"Woke" is an adjective. "Cultural revolution" defines a noun.

    ?

And then you quote the most "succinct" definition you have encountered. It contains "equity".

    ??

My English is definitely substandard but, mind you, I happen to know what "equity" means (even the two possible meanings of it), and "equality of outcome" is most certainly NEITHER.

Then you write a small essay not on what it means, but on what it evokes for you...

    I am none the wiser.

'Woke' is a slang term, so it's inherently flexible, and was used in that spirit.

To be technical about it, 'woke' describes an individual or group that embodies 'wokeness' or 'wokeism', which is a political and social philosophy/ideology that - through cultural revolution - aims to achieve equity according to identity through the use of authoritarianism.

    Better?

The issue we're having now with the word 'equity' is the sort of issue we always run into with the woke, because they constantly co-opt and redefine terms in order to advance their cause. You're likely confused because you're using the dictionary definition of the word 'equity'. That is not the woke definition in most cases.

I just found this definition from NACE (National Association of College and Employers), which is useful because it is a very woke association: "...Equity means recognizing that we do not all start at the same place in life and must acknowledge and make adjustments to imbalances." What this means is redistribution. Communism.

But even Merriam Webster describes it as "freedom from disparities", which is kind of a cute little euphemism.

My small essay as you call it more or less represents the consensus of the unwoke.

If it's the semantics of the word you're getting stuck on --

"Woke" is derived from the word "Awoken", being the past participle of "Awake".

    "Awoken" -- roused from sleep.

When one is roused from sleep, one becomes aware of, rather than oblivious to, all the "social injustice" around them.

This is the root of the word and what it formerly came to mean.

"The awake and the aware who fight against social injustice."

    That's it in a nutshell.

Now, "woke" has come to mean "insane".

For an explanation on how and why it went insane, see Mike's excellent analysis.

    Hopefully, this is now clear.
"When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace."

Another wonderful "Free Palestine" friend has blessed us with his virtue (Mohamed Sabry Soliman) by setting people on fire at a Jewish community event in Colorado with a makeshift flamethrower.

All this on the heels of the fatal shootings of the Israeli embassy staffers in Washington D.C. by yet another deeply caring, sympathetic and sincere Palestinian supporter, Elias Rodriguez. Rodriguez is a clear woke radical, while Mohamed Sabry Soliman appears to be an illegal alien from Egypt. Not much is known about Soliman at this point, but I'm going to go ahead and take a wild guess and assume he's an Islamist.

There is something of an unholy alliance between the woke and the radical Islamists atm, and that might be for an entirely different thread.

It appears we are seeing an escalation of these attacks.

There was another event that isn't getting much attention that happened also yesterday in of all places, Gatlinburg, TN. Someone sped into a crowd of people and rammed several vehicles right on main street there. Several people were injured.

Also in several cities, San Deigo for an example, there are outbreaks of some rather rowdy groups bordering on Paris type of "peaceful protests".

Violence and Chaos is knocking at the door, the door has been opened.

My main concern is and has been the several hundred thousand fighting age male illegals the deep state and democrats have stashed away all over in this country. They are a part of this unholy alliance you mentioned.

I share that concern. I'm thinking of that part in "V for Vendetta" where V flicks the first domino and we're taken thru a montage of planned events that are sure to follow the first.

These events feel like the first few dominoes.

Trump won and that's all well and good, but sociopaths never go quietly. Their attitude is that if they can't have the country, no one can. I expect to see a lot of violence and chaos in the coming months, and I'm not sure anything can be done to prevent it.

I also expect more violence and chaos. Riots and several cities with fires burning by July 4th I suspect. Summer of Love 2.0

The army of young fighting age illegals will probably be released once Trump sends in the National Guard to some of these places.

This may actually backfire for the evil dems and lefties (and some republicans) as most people on both sides of the isle in the civilian population won't put up with this crap and are just plain and simply tired of all this nonsense.

Either way serious damage is coming and anyone with critical thinking minds are quite certain of it.

Maybe you can tell me why this a question that will provide any insight at all into what is going on. Perhaps I will start a thread on Northern Ireland not very long ago and compare the manipulation of hate and fear there (which has been resolved) to what is going on in Israel. If you haven't seen real propaganda inspired hatred or fear you know nothing. You might as well have a thread on why the woke like cats. Your question applies to nothing relevant.

The purpose of the thread isn't to provide any insight into the conflict in Gaza. The purpose is to expose the woke sociopaths who are co-opting the free Palestine movement, and explore the sinister reasons why.

As for the rest of your post, I have to confess to not knowing what you're talking about.

You need to start at the first post and read the whole thread.

You won't be able to imagine the degree of manipulation. Critical thinking won't help.

    Slam dunk, exactly.

We have different perspectives on the current issue of Israel/Palestine and all that but this is something I can agree with totally. As to why they co-opt these movements I don't know, I'm sure that's a rabbit hole that goes deep.
