Phil Collins catches alotta sh!t. It's sorta unhip to like him, but he made a ton of good songs. This is one of his best. I love this song:

It's amazing, some of his songs are actually really good. Call me a douche, but this one haunted me for a while...

Ahh Phil Collins. I like to listen to old songs remixed or mashups sometimes. And just roll through them finding other cool ones. this one is amazing with some decent ear buds. I'll be on the sky train listening wishing i could just make everyone else listen to it too lol. thinking about unity and how if everyone understood that every moment should be a party, maybe we could kick off the awakening and all dance to the drum of the new coming frequency.

I love that thought. I remember attending concerts when everyone was truly feeling it, when a song hit that transcendent climax after a breathtaking buildup, there's real magic there, you really feel connected to everyone who's there experiencing it with you.

Raskolnikov, you're not alone.. that also makes me a douche, because I like that song too

Here's some early 90's hip hop.. just a little obscure: only peaked at 86 on the billboard Google tells me. But this is good sh!t. It's my era, and I dig it. Got that gritty NYC sound. It's called Who Got Da Props, by a group called Black Moon:

😄 only if he can sing, unlike this dude.

Ha, back in the day, a guy in army uniform hit on me at the pub while I was at the bar getting a drink.

    "Thirsty?" I asked. "Busy day?"

Struggling to respond, I helped him fill in the gaps.

    "No time to change?"

    "Um, I suppose..."

    I pressed on.

    "Army Reserves?"

    "Um, yeah... how'd you know?"

"C'mon mate, seriously? No self respecting soldier gonna come in here hiding behind his uniform, using it as bait. Now toddle off home this minute and change. You'll have better luck with the ladies. Trust me."

Poor guy must've been listening to this silly song. I felt bad for him. Especially when he started weeping and thanking me for my honesty - true story. Good God kid, pull yourself together. S.N.A.G enthusiasm ain't a good look either.

Love that response. First line made me laugh. And I’d have to agree, but he’s quite the dancer eh? Enjoyed the story. It’s so true, in youth men really have no idea how to approach a woman. Think that’s why I started drinking, think that’s why everyone in my high school did too. Needed to ease those inhibitions with some liquid courage. Spent a fun year in Perth in the early 90’s. Really enjoyed the people and the culture, back before all today’s nonsense. Felt like I truly slipped into the “no worries, mate” lifestyle and state of mind. Those Sunday sessions by the beach were legendary. What a great concept to cap the weekend - start early, end early, still make it to work Monday. At least it worked for everyone in their teens and twenties, can’t imagine making it to work today no matter how early we started. It was like a gathering of the tribe. Drinks, music, dancing, that magnificent salty air off the ocean. Truly magic.

“Now toddle off home this minute and change.” When it comes to uniforms, I think that’s sound advice. The late, great, George Carlin said it best:

“If it requires a uniform, it’s a worthless endeavor.”

    and

“Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.”

Serious question: Is Lady Gaga really this old?

I found this mix in my ‘archive’ folder this evening. Apparently I deleted it from public view in 2013 (I’m not sure why). It’s an eclectic mix from the 1990’s club / cocktail bar scene. A misspent youth for sure, but hey, I’ve come so very far since then!

This track is my own (as are all of the DJ mixes I post). For the record, I was a professional club DJ in the Sydney club circuit from 1992-1997.

Absolutely Ras, there are songs/music out there that can bring a tear to my eye and being surrounded by thousands of others, all experiencing the same emotion is a powerful thing, music connects people together, even if you dont speak their language we can hookup in our experience of music, like we are one.

What i dont understand is people, mainly youngons, that attend a concert and stand there all night with their phones out held high videoing the concert, they spend half the night looking at their ph screens making sure the stage is in shot, why would you record a concert......? i bet they dont even watch their own video of the concert when they get home, and they miss out (IMO) on the human connection and joy, because they are not in tune with others around them, they are more worried about recording the event instead of feeling it.

Almost like the language of love, "even if you don't speak their language..." There's a connection there that transcends language. And then it gets even crazier when you think about the symbols on ancient temples that are visual representations of tones or sounds, like keys to the universe.

I'm with ya all the way there RRR. I do not understand the youth today. They don't seem to possess the power of living in the moment and letting themselves go. For me that was the whole reason for going to a concert, to enjoy not only the music but the camaraderie of the crowd, the experience of meeting new people and living in the moment. Is that a thing of the past, a bygone era?
