    Default Turmoil in Nepal

Nepal Protests Escalate, Airport Closed, Prime Minister Resigns

Protests in Nepal are evolving into a full uprising. The airport is closed, and the government has fallenwith the resignation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and at least five other ministers. Meanwhile, social media has been restored.

Sparked by the Nepal government blocking most social media, protests have spread through Nepal’s main cities. Yesterday, 19 people died and over 100 were injured in the demonstrations. Today, curfews in the Kathmandu area didn’t stop the protests from continuing, with protesters setting fire to some government buildings and politicians’ residences.

With social media working again, members of the climbing community in Nepal have also hurried to share their protests online.

    Control, corruption, and “nepo kids”

The so-called Gen Z revolution began with the sudden closure of most social media in Nepal last weekend, but the roots of discontent go much deeper. The demonstrators rose up against government corruption and, in particular, the shocking wealth gap between an impoverished population and their political elites.

In recent weeks, activists have spread a campaign against “nepo kids” on social media, spotlighting the lavish lifestyles of politicians’ children and allegations of corruption, the BBC reports. Coincidentally, authorities then shut social media down last Friday, alleging that the social media companies had refused to register and submit to more governmental control of content.

After 19 people died in the protests yesterday, anger only increased. Parents and relatives of the younger protesters are starting their own demonstrations. On the second day of protests, demonstrators increased in number. They set fires in front of the Nepali Congress building and the residences of some members of the government, The Kathmandu Post reported. The government imposed curfews in several areas, but demonstrators continued their protest anyway.

The video below, by an unknown author and shared widely on social media, shows soldiers at the gate of Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. International media confirm the airport is closed until further notice.

    Government down, airport closed

The government lifted the ban on social media this evening, to “address the demands of Gen Z,” a minister told the media. According to the latest news, Prime Minister Sharma Oli has stepped down, and several members of the government may be fleeing the country.

    From DD Geopolitics,

🇳🇵⚠️ Nepal in Crisis Over Social Media Ban

Thousands of protesters stormed Nepal’s Parliament in Kathmandu today after the government enforced a ban on 26 major social media platforms that refused to register and comply with national laws.

At least 14 dead as the army opened fire to disperse the crowds.

But this crackdown is being spun by US-funded ‘press freedom’ fronts like CPJ, not to defend Nepal’s sovereignty, but to protect Silicon Valley’s impunity.

CPJ Statement: CPJ condemns Nepal, demanding the country allow foreign platforms to operate without regulation, despite the fact that the U.S. and EU require the same compliance from foreign companies.

Nepal is asking only what Washington demands for itself: “Register. Follow local law. Then operate.”

But in the 21st century, information space is the front line of sovereignty. Social media platforms have partnered with the U.S. State Department to orchestrate protests, revolutions, and even regime change, from the Arab Spring to Ukraine 2014, Serbia, and now Nepal.

This is an attempt to preserve U.S. influence in the digital sphere and punishing any nation that dares to secure its own information infrastructure.

    From DD Geopolitics,

🇳🇵 Protesters in Nepal have set fire to the parliament building, following earlier arson attacks on the homes of the prime minister and several ministers.

🇳🇵"Gen Z" protesters in Nepal attacked the finance minister in the street.

They are demanding that Kathmandu’s mayor Balendra Shah, a former rapper, be appointed as the new prime minister.

The second clip shows his last music video, released six months ago.

The current prime minister has already resigned after his residence and the parliament building were set on fire.

🇳🇵🤔 Not gonna lie... Every time we see banners in English at a supposedly “spontaneous” protest in a country where English isn’t the official language, it raises a few eyebrows. In Nepal, English is indeed widely used in business and tourism… but still.

    From Brian Berletic,

🇺🇸🇳🇵US-funded Fake Rights Groups Condemns Nepal for Demanding Foreign Social Media Platforms Follow Nepal's Laws...

CPJ, another US-funded front involved in interference abroad, demands Nepal allow Western social media platforms operate with impunity within Nepal's information space.

The ban is only for social media co.'s refusing to register in Nepal to operate in its information space and follow local laws (as the US & Europe demand foreign platforms do).

Once they register, and if they follow local laws, they can continue operating.

Rather than speak up for Nepal and its people's right to use their information space how they want, not how Silicon Valley & Washington demand, CPJ is protecting multi-billion dollar US-based social media co.'s.

Nepal, and other nations must secure their information space - if not, in the 21st century, no other national security domain matters if it isn't.

US-based social media platforms have worked with the US State Department to manipulate public perception, organize unrest and even terrorism inside targeted nations - including throughout the "Arab Spring" the 2014 protests in Ukraine, and across the world today from Indonesia to Serbia and everywhere inbetween.

    Source: https://cpj.org/2025/09/nepal-orders...dia-platforms/

If you don't have time to check CPJ's funding from across the US-European governments and Western corporate foundations....

...another way to see if it really protects human rights, or just hides behind them to spread propaganda - check to see if they ever spoke up about Gonzalo Lira.

He was an American-Chilean journalist/activist in Ukraine jailed and killed by Kiev with the US government's knowledge/complicity.

Just as the US has military forces spread across the face of the planet - it has organizations manipulating human rights, media, entertainment, and public perception targeting the minds of people worldwide.

    https://x.com/BrianJBerletic/status/1965374854171136253

    US regime-change in Nepal

This is yet another US government-funded regime change operation - right on China and India's doorsteps - carried out by organizations funded by the US National Endowment for Democracy (NED) many people mistakenly believe has been dismantled.

It is simply hidden and more dangerous than ever.

The protests are "Gen Z" upset over a social media ban.

As stated earlier - the ban was because US-based companies REFUSED to follow local laws and insisted on violating, manipulating and disrupting Nepal's information space.

Lazy CIA-NED recycling images like the Japanese anime "One Piece" flag - for Nepal - having already used it in US-sponsored violence in Indonesia this same month...

The BBC also notes that Nepal has lifted the ban on foreign social media platforms - meaning the government has likely abandoned attempts to secure its information space.

This will only embolden the US and its abuse of Nepal's information space, and allow its influence over Nepal's population to be consolidated.

The multipolar world needs to prioritize raising awareness of this form of invasion and capture - and begin working on ways to transition toward information sovereignty from Washington, Wall Street, and Silicon Valley.

    From The New Indian Express,

What’s unfolding in Nepal is a generational reckoning. Led by Gen Z, these protests are not just about censorship.

They are an open revolt against entrenched political privilege, nepotism, and elite impunity. At the center of public fury: the so-called “nepo kids”, children of politicians and powerful bureaucrats who flaunt designer fashion, exotic vacations, and lavish lifestyles on TikTok and Instagram while the average Nepali youth struggles for jobs, affordable education, and above all dignity.

These “nepo kids”—many of whom have never held jobs, yet drive foreign cars and vacation in the Maldives—have become symbols of everything that’s wrong with Nepal’s post-conflict democracy.

The resignation of Oli, once seen as an immovable strongman, might seem like a victory. But for the country’s newly awakened youth, it is just the beginning of a deeper movement to reclaim the republic from those who have long treated Nepal as their inherited fiefdom.

It may have been agitated slightly, but that's not a color revolution. Nepal has had Maoist youth camps out in the woods since the 1960s. Replacing Monarchy by a paper government doesn't always work so well. It has been walking all over most Nepalis for a long time.

It's complicated, because Nepalis are not from Nepal, but that is what we have to call everyone who lives in a certain area. It encompasses three regions that were generally independent and different ethnicities.

They're mostly literally payed by no one. Nepali government secures large resources from trade agreements with China.
Nepali is strategically important to China , namely because they share access to the Mt Everest and countless border passes .
On the other side of the border there's Tibet.

Due to the continuous pressure from China to control political and economical situation in Nepal who is culturally sovereign and self governing nation acquired resources were spent as unwisely as possible ,,,..

    Without addressing serious humanitarian issues.

It would be further advisable to the sovereign and self respecting government of Nepal to cut ideological intervention from other nations especially those whose language and mentality can not be evenly translated to that of Nepali descent and cultural heritage .

    May Peace n Freedom Prevail

    • Question for all Avalon Admins/moderators & @BillRyan:
Project Avalon Forum has many wonderful, funny & hilarious collection of smilies, yet you would expect for ANY forum that is known to encourage sharing controversial discussions, for allowing people to be healthy skeptical, to have the "skeptical thinking" smiley that among others Facebook uses! ... See picture below:

When seeing 15 versions of it (see above picture) I like number 10 & 13 the best, but that is subjective of course. But we do not have that in our Project Avalon arsenal of smilies.

Are there any Avalonians that have been in Nepal for weeks, or months? And can tell something about their experiences that relates to how you sense the Nepalese first hand?

I was in Nepal for a couple months back in 1981-82. Most of the time I was way up in the high and remote remote rural mountain areas (where were there were dozens of tiny villages and small farming settlements), but I did spend a week or two in Kathmandu.

As best I know, there was no political turmoil in the country back then. I found every single Nepali I met to be delightful and friendly, and the entire country was poor but most extremely beautiful.

    There’s more to it.

One NGO—Hami Nepal, the main protest organizer—received 200 million rupees in funding from U.S.-linked sources and is openly supported by the NED Free Tibet movement. That’s more than enough, in Nepal, to bankroll a full-blown nationwide mobilization.

    Their messaging? “Anti-corruption.”
The exact same line Balen Shah has been pushing since day one.
Now, magically, these Western-funded protests are demanding him as the next PM.

    Shah’s not some neutral actor.
He’s already cozy with the U.S. embassy, met with the ambassador, pitched Hollywood partnerships, and—surprise—been invited to the U.S.
Victoria Nuland also just happened to visit. If that name’s on the guest list, you know regime change NGOs are in the mix.

    The protests?
    Same old playbook:

English-language signs designed to frame the unrest as “noble” to Western audiences.

Symbolism straight out of the color revolution starter kit.

Carefully crafted narratives laundering chaos into virtue signaling.

And then there's Sudan Gurung, Hami Nepal’s founder,
openly using Western social media to issue protest guides—complete with gear checklists and tactics—explicitly telling people not to shy away from violence.
No shock that it turned violent when mobs started storming government buildings.

    Let’s talk targets.
They weren’t random. They were precision hits:

    Government ministries

    Parliament

    State media
Even individual ministers were personally targeted.

That level of coordination isn’t “grassroots”—it’s foreign-backed tactical ops. Real grassroots protests burn out fast. They don’t cripple state institutions with military precision unless they’ve got outside help.

And for those still clinging to “but the grievances are real”—
Congratulations, you’ve discovered the first step in every single color revolution.
Every regime change op begins by co-opting legitimate public anger and steering it toward foreign goals.

    From Sony Thăng,

    Exactly, Yuliana.

    They think they are "empowered."

But empowerment handed to you in English slogans is not empowerment.

    It’s programming.

Nepal sits between India and China.

That geography alone makes it too valuable to be left to its own fate.

    So the money comes.

    USAID workshops in Kathmandu.

"Democracy trainings" run by Western-funded NGOs.

Youth camps where the slogans are pre-written, and the livestream equipment is already waiting.

Delhi’s intelligence services watching every ripple.

Washington’s think tanks writing "Nepal scenarios" like screenwriters plotting the next act.

And the people, the same people who shout about corruption, never ask who funds their microphones,

    Who hosts their servers,

Who edits their footage before the world sees it.

    They think they are players.

    They are pawns.

They think they are writing history.

They are footnotes in someone else’s playbook.

Empire does not need to overthrow Nepal.

It only needs to keep it unstable.

    A bleeding pawn between giants.

    Forever distracted. Forever dependent.

That is why every explosion of anger looks the same.

No discipline. No strategy. No sovereignty.

Just another rehearsal in Washington’s theater.

    And when the curtain drops,

    The blood is Nepali,

    The gain is American,

And the board is India and China.

That is Nepal’s fate: a bleeding pawn between giants.
