In Jan 2023, US Deputy Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland was in Nepal for high-level meetings.

Turns out, the Nepal President has not resigned. He has issued a statement calling for restraint:

    The President

I urge all stakeholders to cooperate for a peaceful resolution of the current situation in the country. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s resignation has created a new context, and in this current complex situation, I appeal to everyone to help and support the country, the people, and democracy.

In a democracy, the demands raised by citizens should be resolved through dialogue and negotiation among the concerned representatives. The current situation should not lead to confrontation, and I request everyone to come forward for dialogue and understanding.

Just before Nepal Army's lockdown notice, some sane youth groups were seen doing a cleanup drive in Kirtipur. Orgs like Eco Sathi have come forward for national service. Unlike Bangladesh, Nepal Gen Z has quickly realised that there protests were being hijacked by foreign agents.

If you have reservations about 🇳🇵Nepal's coup d'état being orchestrated by 🇺🇲US Deep State, take a look at the fund allocations at the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) for 2024

Here are projects in Nepal which got grants for this year:

In a democracy, the demands raised by citizens should be resolved through dialogue and negotiation among the concerned representatives.

Same is true of a Monarchy.

Not that everything always works as intended. Around 2008, there was the disruption of the Gorkha Kingdom 1768:

Quote During the Rana rule (1846–1951), the Shah monarchs had little real power, with the hereditary prime ministers from the Rana family exercising absolute control.

You'd be surprised how intimate that is with the fate of the British Empire. The Legend of Koh-i-noor, the disappearance of "Sikhistan" or Khalistan, The Great Exposition of 1851 are all in there.

Gorkhas are Thakurs from Rajasthan in India. The link gives generally bad press to the Ranas which is worth re-considering.

Generally speaking, for all of known history, it has always been this valuable crossroads between the Indian and Chinese spheres. It has been variously subjugated by Tibetan and Indian forces, and at other times taken over parts of those "other countries".

Many inhabitants speak different languages and do not consider themselves Nepali.

This has no easy, pat answer that can be summed up in a word or sentence. To crack the alphabet code in the article posted I would think:

    ISI -- Pakistani secret police

LeT -- Lashkar e Taiba, a Mughal-inspired reconquista of India

I suppose anyone like that must be clever, since there is no significant Muslim population to be interested in any of those ideologies. Meanwhile, Pakistan has its own separatists who consider the government an Occupier, therefor opposites to the above. Are there any protestors who might describe themselves as more similar to Balochi Liberation?

Just last year, USAID announced $85 million to expand access to quality education for children in Nepal, noting that as an area of cooperation between the development of 'democracy & good governance.'

Kind of suspicious when USAID mentions 'democarcy'

USAID had deep tentacles in Nepal.

If you’re a poor country, you are committing suicide by accepting money from CIA front groups like USAID, NED etc.

Last year, USAID gave $85 million to Nepal’s education — and that means recruiting and training protest leaders in colleges.

    Yes, that's the key.

From the outside, we can't just go around labeling everything and say that NED owns the youth of Nepal. Do they have their hands in it, of course...but *most* of these places, at least formerly, would have had no clue that American assistance comes with stipulations. Tibet's Dalai Lama had no idea about this. Most places don't, or, they make a choice of lesser evils, and I have been expecting for a long time for someone to realize that "foreign assistance" is not always the best answer for domestic corruption.

It's not hard to offer a sack of cash and get someone to wreck a power station.

With all our advanced tech and a governor's proclamation "so this never happens again", we still have not solved our local power plant incident, which is now years ago.

If anyone is going to revolt, the last thing I recommend is random acts of destruction.

You need a coherent goal and desired outcome, specific complaints and issues and your proposed solution. Not wrecking everything and handing control of your laws and finances to America. Maybe a clear picture will emerge from the fracas. Restoring Monarchy could be just as progressive as anything else, q. v. Victor Emmanuel in Italy. There's no mandate to spread paper governments, that's for sure. That's not and never has been a real issue.

"The Chinese Communist Party's grand military parade on September 3 has just ended, and shortly after, a communist leader nearby fell. One of the "VIPs" on the parade stage almost got captured upon returning to his country, and Beijing’s dictatorship suffered a hard slap right after the event.
On September 9, the Nepalese Communist Party government, which has closely followed China’s lead in recent years, was overthrown by angry protesters. Many high-ranking officials fled by helicopter, while those who couldn't escape were captured and subjected to various forms of mistreatment."

I am going to add something here, because we are seeing an unusual respect for Monarchy, and if we pursue some links we can find some unnecessarily bad background.

As to whether it is "bad", we have to consider the office of Prime Minister:

Quote During his lifetime, Jung Bahadur eliminated factional fighting at court, removed his family's rivals such as the Pandes and Basnyats, introduced innovations in the bureaucracy and judiciary, and made efforts to modernize Nepal. He is considered a significant figure in Nepalese history. Some modern historians blame Jung Bahadur for initiating a dark period in Nepalese history marked by an oppressive dictatorship that lasted 104 years, while others attribute this period to his nephews, the Shumsher Ranas.

    Controversial.

I have no personal connection to Nepal, I have an intellectual one because Buddha and the main repository of Buddhism are from Nepal.

These days, I'm talking about only a 5% minority, where Boudnath Stupa is owned by Indians, and Buddhist caretakers are merely tenants. We have no power. Our central archive is a non-descript stucco house staffed by a few college nerds on mopeds and some of their Japanese friends.

Behind this is every kind of intel and co-intel operation, religious and fanatical wars, and the degradation of intellectual history.

As a non-cultural or non-birth Buddhist, Theosophy had a lot to do with "bringing me in".

It turns out we could have saved two hundred years of confusion even before that!

Some of the Sanskrit terms employed by HPB and the adepts can only be found in a bit of material by Brian Hodgson, the British Resident in Nepal around 1833-1844.

While in Nepal, Hodgson was the first foreigner to be able to study Sanskrit there. He only had one guide amidst the realm of Buddhism, so the terms, Dhyani Buddha, and Svabhavika, only seem to have emerged from that particular person. They are not to be found in Buddhist texts Nepal or elsewhere. As the sole source, Hodgson was quoted by other writers in the literature for nearly 100 years.

Hodgson wound up having some role with the Kunwar dynasty. His son was a tutor of the son-in-law of Jang Bahadur Kunwar, the Prime Minister. After the 1846 Kot Massacre, Kunwar was able to install King Surendra, who was basically a puppet, even a prisoner. In 1850, Kunwar made a then-unheard of move, which was to travel to Britain, France, and Egypt. He did not succeed in getting the British government to deal directly with him while he was there, but he was able to establish goodwill. Nepal's future would generally be cooperation with, but independence from, the British. In 1857 from Darjeeling, Hodgson influenced Lord Canning to accept Kunwar's help in suppressing the Sepoy Mutiny. In 1858, King Surendra gave Kunwar the name Rana, a Rajput title of martial glory (Jang Bahadur Rana).

Hodgson provided a copy of the Lotus Sutra to Eugene Bournouf, among the first mainstream translations of Buddhism; Tina Turner relied on this.

This did not "keep going"; most of our sources of information are extraneous, causing academic backlash over these early translations. They suffer the fault of inadequacy; "Svabhavika" is not a school or sect, it's a notice of Purity Mantra. Whereas the material provided by Hodgson really is the survival of Indian Buddhism; studied in its own light is simple and direct, while the criticism of "experts" derives from other sources. And, yes, Buddhism has a terrible problem with biographical information. So this is important.

Well, Theosophy was heavily involved with the Maharajah of Benares; they have the same motto.

As to the then-Maharaja of Benares:

Ishwari Prasad Narayan Singh, who, at age 13, did not revolt in the Sepoy Mutiny, and was promoted to the rank of Maharaja Bahadur; his son married the daughter of the first Prime Minister of Nepal, Jang Bahadur.

The friendship between the two countries reached its pinnacle during the reign of Jang Bahadur Rana. During the Sepoy Mutiny of 1857, Nepal also involved itself in support of the East India Company.

It matches. One of the few political stands attributable to Theosophical Mahatmas is resistance to the Sepoy Mutiny. That sounds un-nationalistic or like a form of surrender, but, it was the pragmatic view that it would just lead to wanton destruction and invasion by a new wave of Mughals or something.

The other thing they did was kick out Dayanand Sarasvati, the founder of the uber-nationalistic Arya Samaj.

What is rather more interesting is his "spiritual brother" who was the mentor of Madame David-Neel:

In 1891, she visited India for the first time, and met her spiritual preceptor, Swami Bhaskarananda Saraswati of Varanasi.

    As to B Sarasvati:

Quote ...an advisor counsel to Kashi Naresh (Maharaja of Kingdom of Kashi)

Alexandra David-Néel studied yoga with Bhaskarananda. Maharaja Jung Bahadur Rana, the King of Nepal and founder of the Rana dynasty of Nepal, has written a pamphlet about Swami. Ernest Binfield Havell (1864–1937), a close friend of Indologist Sir John Woodroffe was also devoted to him.

He also finds mention in Mark Twain's non-fiction travelogue Following the Equator (1897), who met Swami in Varanasi.

It's the same...Benares, Varanasi, Kashi, he was the spiritual advisor to the Maharajah.

Woodroffe is "Arthur Avalon", whose translations of Shakta materials are currently used at Buddhist universities.

Circumstantially, one finds an ideological agreement between Benares and Nepal. The answer for British domination was not to be found with the Sepoys nor Arya Samaj.

None of them are really Buddhists, however they are critical for clear analysis as in Life of the Siddha Maitri, which is another similar kind of rollback. This comes from a manuscript thought likely to have been recorded during Maitri's life. The main reason is that it just ends. There is no return to Nalanda or any teaching or disciples or any kind of career, which, in actuality, was probably rather long from that point, twenty years or something. Also, it expresses things differently than is seen in later Maitri stories. Significantly there is not dirt flung at Ratnakarasanti.

The manuscript in question was photographed separately by Levi and Tucci around 1930 in Nepal from the collection of

General Kesar Sham Sher Jung Bahadur Rana

so it is called the Sham Sher manuscript, and not considered to have been available for research, unless I suppose you had transcribed those particular photos.

Quote The Sham Sher manuscript (not known to Hadano) provides a solid association with Naropada. But the dates of this figure as well can be guessed only by association with his disciple Marpa. Likewise, the dates of Ratnakarasanti and Jnanasrimitra are known only by association with others. The positive association that Sham Sher makes between Maitrigupta and Sabara as disciple and guru tells us nothing as to date, because it appears that the Sabara in this story is a phantom.

This is important because Tibet carries a different story about Maitri, things that show him as robust and victorious, and Ratnakarasanti as feeble and irrelevant. It's a character assassination. It's a form of censorship. Those are contradictory stories that make no sense. From that point, what enters Tibet is altered or conditioned compared to our Nepali originals. We have everything by Maitri. It's not a schismatic repudiation of his predecessor.

All I'm asking for is the same equal rights as anyone else to not have our archive burned so the unaltered Sanskrit material remains intact.

I understand it may be of no appeal to the vast majority of Nepal residents, and that's fine, if we are able to use language to establish a harmonious social order.

On that note, I'd like to remind Nepal and everyone else what the Era of a Monarch is, which is the only kind of calendar that's not "retro-fitted" but starts from the word "go". This would be the record from the old Nepal Samvat:

Quote The Nepal Sambat epoch corresponds to 879 AD, which commemorates the payment of all the debts of the Nepali people by a merchant named Sankhadhar Sakhwa...

That's it. That's the main thing. You liberate a population by clearing its debts. Story of the world.

That's not quite the *only* issue, I don't know if modern Nepal is like America where we pay outrageous taxes for a mountain of debt we never asked for. But in general it is what "coronation" means, or used to be, before these memories were erased and debt became an Immortal Sovereign.

Are any protestors aware of what a new Nepal Samvat would be?

    • Gen Z BURNS DOWN Nepal’s “Nepo Baby” Government!:

The last few days have witnessed mass protests in Nepal, as Gen Z activists have overthrown a corrupt prime minister after the government shut down social media, triggering violent clashes that left dozens dead and forced ministers to resign. Protesters stormed parliament, torched officials’ homes, and demanded anti-corruption reforms, with the army siding with civilians against the police.

Jimmy and Americans’ Comedian Kurt Metzger discuss parallels between Nepal and the United States, arguing that economic precarity, political corruption, and oligarchic control are pushing Americans toward the same breaking point. He concludes that the U.S. system is failing its people, prioritizing war and elites over healthcare, infrastructure, and workers—leaving revolution as the inevitable outcome when voting no longer works.

Be careful with this article as it does not quite say Mossad did it:

Quote Nepal’s youth-driven movement has intensified scrutiny of longstanding ties between Kathmandu and the Israeli regime, drawing attention to the presence of Israeli settlersm amid rising political unrest.

An estimated 7,000–10,000 Israelis visit Nepal each year, with an active embassy monitoring their activities, and in 2013, a national park trail was even renamed the "Israel Trail" due to the country's popularity among Israelis.

According to a report by Press TV, around 200 Israelis are currently sheltering in the Chabad House in Kathmandu as the city remains on lockdown following anti-corruption protests over lack of economic opportunities and cronyism.

The Israeli regime quietly released a travel advisory calling on its people in the country to stay indoors or vacate the Himalayan nation lest the unrest spread.

It is common knowledge that many of the backpackers and tourists in Nepal are mostly comprised of Israeli military personnel, particularly those with physical disabilities—many of whom had been injured during the genocidal war on Gaza—who seek treatment through initiatives like hiking Nepal’s Annapurna Mountain, organized by the Erez Foundation, a group founded and led by former Israeli Lieutenant Colonel Shimon Pariente.

“This year, we’re especially seeing lots of post-traumatic stress at a level we haven’t seen in years,” Pariente told Israeli media.

Yes, of course...popular tourist destination. Will they flush out terrorist cells? Not sure about that. If Mossad has a hand in something, you can usually find it with a bit of honesty...it may have some office for "playing nice", so they can do something else. I say this because there are Asian countries where they do something besides recuperate. I can't give you the details, but I can say this because I have ripped off the Mossad for a considerable sum of cash, mainly because they throw so much to the wind, you can just stick out your hand and grab some.

Here, there is at least some chance the crowd can force away any of its fifth and sixth columns and make their own decisions. It may involve the restoration of monarchy. That would be interesting, since I, at least, am not a staunch advocate of replacing them with paper governments.

    From Nepal Correspondence,

After appointing the cabinet, Sushila Karki will have 6 months to conduct elections as per constitution.

    Unlike #Bangladesh where
    @ChiefAdviserGoB
is ruling illegally and selling national resources to Western corporates.

President Ram Chandra Poudel appointed Sushila Karki as the Prime Minister of the interim government. She will the first female Prime Minister and sixt PM from Biratnagar.

Karki had previously created history by becoming the first female Chief Justice of Nepal. She completed her BA from the local Mahendra Morang Adarsh Multiple Campus and did her Masters in Political Science from the Hindu University in Banaras, India. She graduated in Law from Tribhuvan University.

Interesting. Did the President do it?

The external frame of reference would call this a coup and installation. The government or form of government has not been destroyed; there's just a resignation and replacement.

That, of course, does not mean it was not just a reaction to something beyond control.

Not getting good coverage of the issues makes it hard to tell. In Bangladesh, it sounds more "colorized" or foreign agitated with the unhelpful selling of the country to some grim contract. I suppose that's not happening here. Part of the point of the stuff I posted before was about how Nepal remained quite sovereign or independent from the British during a time when everywhere else in the world succumbed. There were friendly relations, such that Gorkhas gained a reputation as the best soldiers in the British Army, and, well, the kingdom they once established was twice the size of modern Nepal. At least no one seems to be clamoring "give us back Rajasthan" or anything like that.

There is tension about erasure of culture to the Gorkha - Nepali standard.

I wouldn't get satisfied on the changing of a Prime Minister since there have been serious issues with the government since at least my whole life. Beyond that, I'm not knowledgeable at all about movements or parties or factions in the modern era, only its central role in my intellectual history.
