Rob, as a rule, I normally let these types of comments pass without concern. Please understand that I ask this question with no anger or animosity, but rather pure curiosity. It is my feeling that Martin Luther King put this so succinctly because he understood that love was the only true antidote for hate. Had this young man (or whoever you believe pulled the trigger), had love in their heart instead of hate, Charlie Kirk would still be alive today. This is simply a fact. It may sound a bit trite to you, but often the truth is just as simple as it gets.
What would you consider the antidote for hate?

Hi rgray, i hear you and agree, love compassion empathy understanding are extremely important in a functioning society, there should be no room for hatred malice greed etc, BUT when someone deliberately planned and executed that plan to shoot a bloke in the neck in full view of that mans wife and kids, in front of thousands of innocent men and women, that bloke does not deserve love understanding compassion, not getting mine anyway.
He absolutely deserves all the punishment headed his way (this is of course if hes the shooter) and i hope he rots away in a cell, my judgement and reasoning is NOT out of hatred, cause im an eye for an eye kinda bloke when it comes to heinousness and brutal actions performed, played out by an evil and sick individual, there has to be tough consequences for crimes of this nature.
Not being a smart a..e here rgray but would you still feel the love for this bloke if he blew the neck off of your dad..?

More shocking than downright hatred for Charlie Kirk is seeing people gleefully celebrate his death. Someone who never personally caused them harm, only espoused a position, a philosophy, they happened to disagree with.

If Charlie Kirk said anything of this sort I'm not aware of it at all. I strongly doubt he ever did say this, or 'advocated' it. He was for peace and love and for bringing people together.

Don't underestimate the demonisation and weaponisation of conservatives by the legacy mainstream media. They lie, they twist, and they wilfully, knowingly, fabricate. Celebrities and influencers (shills) are complicit in the same evil. For those of reduced or impaired awareness who listen, the result is nothing short of mind control.

This is exactly what unconditional love is.
To understand it is to understand God and yourself.

In love, this person deserves punishment. He violated the rights of another.
BUT, that does not give us the right to torture him.
If we do, we are no better than him.

A quick death seems appropriate.

The question of whether incarceration is just punishment or if it is torture I leave for another day.


Another point is that our system is broken, if it was ever anything but. In this scenario, breaking the law has social implications. And legal defence is a question of financial resources. The more money the better the defence. The systemic corruption that is intrinsic to our system and skews the "level" playing field in favor of the corrupt unjustly targets the poor - and keeps them poor and underrepresented.
This is not an excuse for the individual to act criminally but it is a reason to resist. I have resisted my whole life and it has cost me dearly, yet my conscience is clear because I did not violate my principles. I did not kill, maim, lie or deceive in response to the unfairness. Corporations, companies, banks, governments, think tanks and global organizations are fair game but individuals are not.
