Here’s an interesting claim, that reads like a kid trying not to get his parents in trouble, explaining to cops on a domestic violence call, especially because he knows the creepy neighbour who would dial that.

Being a kid, he doesn’t know the details, like how fast (high energy) cosmic particles can flux some magmas stiffer so they’re more prone to explode. Like Toba, and more recently Tambora (1815) and Krakatoa (late 1800’s). Kid will probably blow up himself, one day, and get in to history too.

The Sun Flashed a Giant Heart at Earth This Week, And We Love It





In what we can only interpret as a show of solidarity for the Solar System's beleaguered dwarf planet Pluto, the Sun put its heart prominently on its sleeve atmosphere.

On the side of the Sun facing Earth, a giant coronal hole appeared in the shape of an enormous love heart, many times the size of Earth, blasting a powerful stream of solar particles across the Solar System.

Coronal holes aren't actual holes in the Sun. They are regions where the Sun's magnetic field weakens, allowing the constant wind of solar particles to escape more easily and powerfully, sending gusts of solar particles through the Solar System.

Solar activity is likely to continue declining over the next few years as we emerge from the peak of its 11-year activity cycle, known as solar maximum. Coronal holes, however, are just one facet of the Sun's behavior. With a recent report from NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory indicating a gradual increase in the strength of the solar wind since 2008, we may see more activity than expected as we head towards Solar Cycle 26.

Low Flaring But Active Surface

Today’s top story: Flare production has been low over the past day, but the sun’s surface has been active, as we saw by action on the periphery. We saw gorgeous long-lasting prominences in the sun’s southeast and southwest. However, an increase in flare activity is anticipated, as two active regions, AR4220 and AR4216, have now developed a gamma in their magnetic configurations.

Meanwhile at Earth this weekend, we should start receiving the fast solar wind produced by the large heart-shaped coronal hole reported recently. Accompanied by the arrival of a co-rotating interaction region (CIR), this may bring interesting geomagnetic activity – and auroras – to Earth.

While reviewing the footage, I zoomed in on her face because she was making a hilarious expression. Accidentally, that’s when I noticed it — something moving from left to right across the screen.

The official number of exoplanets, planets outside our solar system, confirmed by NASA has reached 6,000. Thirty years ago, the first exoplanet was discovered around a Sun-like star. On Sunday, Sept. 21 at 3:54 p.m. EDT or 12:54 p.m. PDT and 19:54 GMT, the moon will officially reach its new moon phase. At that time, our natural satellite will join the sun in Virgo. While new, the moon is travelling between Earth and the sun. Since sunlight can only illuminate the far side of the moon, and the moon is in the same region of the sky as the sun, it is usually completely hidden from view from anywhere on Earth for about a day. This new moon, however, will deliver a very deep partial solar eclipse that will only be visible from New Zealand, eastern Melanesia, southern Polynesia, and western Antarctica.

On Monday, Sept. 22 at 2:19 p.m. EDT, 11:19 a.m. PDT, or 18:19 GMT, the sun's apparent motion along the ecliptic (green line) will carry it across the celestial equator, traveling southward, marking the autumnal equinox in the Northern Hemisphere and the beginning of autumn there. On the equinoxes in March and September, day and night are of equal length and the sun rises due east and sets due west.


Tuesday, Sept. 23 - Neptune at opposition (all night)



On Tuesday night, Sept. 23, Neptune will reach opposition. At that time, the distant planet will be closest to Earth for this year — a distance of "merely" 2.68 billion miles, 4.32 billion km, 4 light-hours, or 28.9 Astronomical Units. At opposition, blue Neptune will shine with a slightly enhanced magnitude of 7.8. Since it will be opposite the sun in the sky, Neptune will be visible all night long in backyard telescopes and good binoculars (orange circle).

Around opposition, Neptune's apparent disk size will peak at 2.4 arc-seconds and its large moon Triton will be the most visible (inset). Throughout September, Neptune will be located a short distance to the left of much brighter Saturn, both planets below (or celestial southeast of) the circle of stars that forms Pisces' western fish.

Earth’s Ozone Layer on Track to Recovery in Coming Decades: World Meteorological Organization





The ozone layer is healing and the Antarctic ozone hole in 2024 was smaller than in previous years, according to a new report from the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).

The depth of 2024 Antarctic ozone hole — which appears over the Antarctic every spring — was below the 1990-2020 average, with a maximum ozone mass deficit of 46.1 million tons on September 29.

It was smaller than the relatively large holes between 2020 and 2023.

Its onset was relatively slow, and delayed ozone depletion was observed through the month of September, followed by a relatively rapid recovery after the maximum deficit was reached.

“This persistent later onset has been identified as a robust indication of initial recovery of the Antarctic ozone hole,” WMO experts said in a statement.

If current policies remain in place, the ozone layer is expected to recover to 1980 values (before the appearance of the ozone hole) by around 2066 over the Antarctic, by 2045 over the Arctic and by 2040 for the rest of the world, according to the most recent assessment in 2022.

Stingrays Are Carnivores

Stingrays are purely carnivorous, preying on animals that live on or under the sand. A study that examined diet reconstruction in southern stingrays along the Caribbean found that stingrays fed primarily on crustaceans, ray-finned fish, and worms. Supplemental research found that the species consumed at least 65 prey types — as many as 30 each day.

They Move by Flapping Their 'Wings'

Stingrays may look like they’re flying through the water, but a closer look will reveal a graceful flapping motion propelling them through. Most species undulate their bodies to get from place to place, moving like an underwater wave, but others tend to flap their sides up and down like wings.

Stingray Babies Are Born Fully Developed

Babies, called pups, can swim and feed immediately after being born, and most species require no parental care.





Females Are Larger Than Males

Not only do females reach sexual maturity faster than males, they tend to live longer. Among round stingrays, a particularly fast-growing species, females and males reach 58% and 70% of their full size, respectively, within the first year of life.

They Are Venomous

Stingrays have long, thin tails with between one and three venomous barbs attached, and the sting usually causes immense pain, risk of infection at the wound site, and occasionally death.

They Sleep in the Sand

While resting, stingrays bury their bodies in the sand, leaving their defensive barb sticking out to protect themselves as they sleep. This can be problematic in areas where humans enter the water, so it is recommended that beachgoers do the “stingray shuffle” to produce vibrations in the sand and warn stingrays of their presence.

There Are More Than 200 Species of Stingrays

Experts estimate that there are about 220 different species of stingrays across the world’s oceans, lakes, and freshwater rivers.

Some Species Chew Their Food

Biologists at University of Toronto filmed freshwater stingrays munching on soft fish, shrimp, and hard-shelled dragonfly nymphs using high-speed cameras. The findings suggested that mammals and stingrays had evolved similar methods of breaking down food independently of each other. Before that, mammals were believed to be the only animals to chew their food.

They Lived at the Same Time as Dinosaurs

In 2019, a team from the Institute of Paleontology of the University of Vienna discovered a fossil stingray dated at over 50 million years old. The research provided new links to radiation caused by the aftermath of the Cretaceous mass extinction event. Further molecular data suggested that modern stingrays diverged from a sister group during the Late Jurassic, about 150 million years ago.





They Can Get Pretty Large

In 2009, a giant freshwater stingray was caught and released in Thailand that measured 14 feet long and between 700 and 800 pounds.

They Can Detect Magnetic Fields

Scientists conducted tests on yellow stingrays in 2020 to prove the animals could use Earth’s magnetic field to maintain their sense of direction while navigating through their environment. They found evidence that not only proved stingrays could detect changes within the geomagnetic field but also that they could use the field to their advantage by orienting themselves and maintaining a heading during navigation.

I’ve followed Dr. Lerner for more than a couple years, about his ion fusion-energy work, and this described process is new to me. It’s something different, and is claimed to be so good as to be a paradigm shifting development. Normal Hydrogen, and the most common isotope of Boron, shake AND stir. In Episode 3 of this series, Lerner explains the radical alternative approach to fusion energy based on hydrogen-boron fuel. This fuel can make possible far cheaper and more compact energy sources that have ever existed.

Our videos come out of LPPFusion’s research in astrophysics and fusion energy. This work is paving the way for the development in this decade of a source of cheap, clean, safe, unlimited and decentralized energy. Fusion energy will provide a future without pollution, with a sustainable environment, with abundance for all.
