    Yes, a spectacular heap of failed policies. For accountability on these matters, I don't know who we turn to. This pause in tactical action really answers nothing. It is a kind of bookmark, where, at least, the main Hamas demands have been upheld, and "genocide for our captives" can be shown to have positively backfired, and the eating of one's words can begin. But the thing is still intact, really dangerous and very insane.

    Gaza ceasefire: Joy as Palestinians freed after Israeli captives released


    The release of nearly two thousand Palestinians imprisoned in Israeli jails begins after Hamas frees all 20 living Israeli captives held in the Gaza Strip as part of the ceasefire deal.
    Families of many of the Palestinian prisoners and detainees being released by Israel under an exchange deal say their long-awaited freedom is bittersweet after they learned their loved ones would be deported to third countries.

    That includes more than 1,700 Palestinians that were detained in Gaza, since the war began.

    I came back today. I thought I had known despair before, but what I saw today is beyond despair.
    It is not grief, nor horror, nor pain. It is something colder, a stillness where even God seems to have withdrawn His hand.


    The sky was impossibly blue. The kind of blue that mocks you, that makes you wonder whether beauty itself is a crime.
    I walked through streets that no longer exist, streets that were my childhood.
    They are now a wilderness of stone, wire, and dust.

    A man stood on a heap, a neighbor, I think.
    He pointed and said, “It’s here.”
    I asked him how far.
    He looked down.
    And I understood: my house was beneath his feet.

    I lifted my phone, as if the machine could recognize what I could not. The screen glowed; there was nothing to see. The earth had swallowed the distances. Even the smell of home was gone. It was as if the thread connecting me to life itself had been cut.

    I dug with my hands. The dust burned. My palms bled.
    My mother had told me: “Search for anything we can save.” And so I obeyed her like a son obeys the last voice that still believes there is meaning in obedience.

    From a house that once cost my father one hundred and twenty thousand dollars, a lifetime of labor, of hope, of decency, I found two things:
    a knife, and a pillow.

    Two relics of civilization. One for necessity, one for illusion.
    That is what remains of man.

    I sat in the ruins, the blue of my shirt turned gray with ash, and I thought:
    this is the end not of a city, but of meaning itself.

    I thought of my parents, their hands, their faith in honest work.
    How will they bear this? How will any man bear seeing his father’s roof turned into dust by a stranger’s hands, hands that will never know the names of those they destroyed?

    But what tears me apart more than ruin is silence. No one speaks to us.
    No one tells us where to go, who will rebuild, or who is responsible.

    The politicians talk of victories, the generals of strategy, the world of peace and progress.
    But none of them live here among the ashes. None of them stand where I stand, sifting through their own dead.

    And those who claim to represent us, where are they? Where is the money they collected in our name, the promises they made before the cameras, the slogans they wrote while we buried our children?
    Who among them will come to this ruin and say: Forgive us, we failed you?
    Not one.

    They sit in offices with clean shirts, counting our corpses as figures on paper. They say “reconstruction,” “aid,” “negotiations,” as though the vocabulary of power could fill the emptiness of a mother’s bed.

    I tell you the truth: there is no crime greater than indifference.
    The murderer at least acknowledges the victim.
    But those who look away, they kill the soul itself.

    I brushed the dust from my shirt, though I knew it was useless.
    I wanted to see if there was still color left in the world.
    There wasn’t.
    The blue had become the color of mourning.

    I looked at my hands. They were shaking, not from fear, but from the unbearable realization that we have become expendable to the world.
    Our suffering is entertainment, our death a policy, our endurance a statistic.

    I wept then, openly, shamelessly.
    I, who once believed in the dignity of suffering, now see that dignity itself has been annihilated.
    There is nothing noble in being forgotten.

    If you are reading this, do not admire the style or the language.
    Lower your head, and weep.

    Because this dust, this silence, this cry, is what remains of us.

    Not only the book of Joshua. The old testament is full of stories of slaughter of whole native populations, which of course aren't described as 'genocide' in the bible. Sometimes the Hebrews' killing sprees are described as 'god's command'. And sometimes there isn't any description of what it is about, it seems they're killing and stealing just because they can. Just one example: look up the book of Samuel, chapter 27.

    Then you have modern day extremist Israel using that murderous mindset, and they're grabbing weapons and power to kill and take whatever they want. They even have rogue nukes.

    They've also put a mind-numbing psyop on millions of USA zionist christians to make them feel obligated to support EVERYTHING about the 'greater Israel' agenda, or else god will curse them.

    In my view, it comes down to one question... Why are people so easily hackable?

    I have never understood the Islamic attitude that emphasizes suffering as a path to wisdom and spiritual fulfilment. The idea that there is dignity in suffering, and it is sometimes seen as a demonstration of strength or a show of moral integrity, seems ridiculous. Suffering does not open the gates to Jannah, nor is it a golden ticket to eternal peace and fulfilment. Accepting needless suffering because you believe it provides personal growth is one of the reasons that the Middle East is in perpetual conflict.

    There is dignity in the end of life suffering because you established the parameters and agreed to the terms before you arrived. Fulfilling the terms of that agreement with dignity is important.

    I watched an interview (if I can find it I will post it) with a key player in the Emirates, and he was saying that he and other Middle East leaders were working with Trump to accomplish what happened today BEFORE he was elected. The geopolitical shift is happening, and it will be accepted in the Middle East a bit faster than in the rest of the world.

    ‘Inhumane’: 154 freed Palestinian prisoners forced into exile by Israel
    Palestinian families awaiting return of imprisoned relatives are shocked to learn they will be deported.


    Families of many of the Palestinian prisoners being released by Israel under an exchange deal say their long-awaited freedom is bittersweet after they learned their loved ones would be deported to third countries.

    At least 154 Palestinian prisoners being freed on Monday as part of the swap for Israeli captives held in Gaza will be forced into exile by Israel, the Palestinian Prisoners’ Media Office said.

    Those to be deported are among a larger group of Palestinians being released by Israel – 250 people held in Israeli prisons along with about 1,700 Palestinians seized from the Gaza Strip during two years of Israel’s war, many of whom were “forcibly disappeared”, according to the United Nations. For its part, Hamas and other Palestinian groups released 20 Israeli captives under a Gaza ceasefire agreement.

    There are no details yet about where the freed Palestinians will be sent, but in a previous prisoner release in January, dozens of detainees were deported to countries in the region, including Tunisia, Algeria and Turkiye.

    Observers said the forced exile illegally breaches the citizenship rights of the released prisoners and is a demonstration of the double standards surrounding the exchange deals.

    “It goes without saying it’s illegal,” Tamer Qarmout, associate professor in public policy at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, told Al Jazeera.

    “It is illegal because these are citizens of Palestine. They have no other citizenships. They’re out of a small prison, but they’re sent to a bigger prison, away from their society, to new countries in which they will face major restrictions. It’s inhumane.”

    Families shocked by deportations

    Speaking to Al Jazeera in Ramallah in the occupied West Bank, relatives of Palestinian prisoner Muhammad Imran said they were shocked to learn he was among those Israel had decided to force into exile.

    Raed Imran said the family had previously received a call from an Israeli intelligence officer, confirming that his brother, 43, would be released home and asking where he would stay on his release.

    But on Monday, the family was dismayed to learn that Muhammad, who was arrested in December 2022 and sentenced to 13 life terms, would be deported.

    “Today’s news was a shock, but we are still waiting. Maybe we’ll get to see him somehow,” Imran said. “What matters is that he is released, here or abroad.”

    The exile means his family might be unable to travel overseas to meet him due to Israel’s control of the borders.

    “We might be looking at families who will be seeing their loved ones deported and exiled out of Palestine but have no way of seeing them,” said Al Jazeera’s Nida Ibrahim, who has reported extensively from the occupied West Bank.

    ‘A win-win for Israel’

    According to Qarmout, the deportations are intended to deprive Hamas and other Palestinian groups of being able to claim any symbolic win from the exchange and to remove the deported prisoners from any involvement in political or other activities.

    “Exile means the end of their political future,” he said. “In the countries they go to, they will face extreme constraints, so they will not be able to be active in any front related to the conflict.”

    He said the deportations amounted to forcible displacement of the released prisoners and collective punishment for their families, who would either be separated from their exiled loved ones or forced to leave their homeland if they were permitted by Israel to travel to join them.

    “It’s a win-win for Israel,” he said, contrasting their experiences to those of the released Israeli captives, who will be able to resume their lives in Israel.

    “It’s more double standards and hypocrisy,” he said.

    Calls grow for release of Gaza’s Dr Hussam Abu Safia after ceasefire deal
    There have been conflicting reports on whether Israel would free the prominent Gaza medic as part of the truce agreement.


    As Israeli and Palestinian captives return to their families as part of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, the status of many prominent Palestinian detainees remains uncertain.

    Among them is Palestinian doctor Hussam Abu Safia, a hospital director in Gaza who was abducted by Israeli forces in December 2024 and has stayed in detention despite growing calls for his release and reports by his lawyer that he has been tortured in Israeli prison.

    Many Palestinian rights supporters see Abu Safia as the embodiment of the resilience of Palestinian medics, as Israel systemically targeted Gaza’s health sector for more than two years.

    It is unclear whether Abu Safia will be released as part of the ceasefire deal, which includes both Israelis held captive by Hamas in Gaza and Palestinians swept up in Gaza and imprisoned en masse by Israel, most without charge or trial.

    But as of the end of Monday, the doctor has not been freed.

    CNN reported over the weekend that Israel would not release Abu Safia, citing a source from Hamas. However, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported on Monday that Abu Safia was among five extra names added to the list of Palestinians from Gaza to be released.

    The human rights watchdog Amnesty International says that the hospital director has been held without charge or trial under an Israeli security law after being arrested by Israeli forces at Kamal Adwan Hospital in Gaza, where he continued to work as a paediatrician after his son was killed in an Israeli air strike.

    The 'ulterior motive' behind Trump and Netanyahu's speeches | LBC


    James O'Brien tries to make sense of Donald Trump's address to the Israeli Parliament yesterday, as well as Benjamin Netanyahu's 'sycophancy' directed towards the U.S. President.

    During his address to the Knesset, Trump declared that the 'long and painful nightmare is finally over', with Israeli MPs praising the President with cheers of 'Trump, Trump, Trump'.

    The speech was delivered on the same day that the last 20 living Israeli hostages were released by Hamas, as the first phase of Trump's peace plan.

    James O'Brien notes the 'extraordinarily choreographed' nature to the speech and the 'triumph' of the moment.

    O'Brien also points out the lack of 'acknowledgement' of the 'two-sides of suffering in the settlement', as Benjamin Netanyahu did not mention the casualties in Gaza.

    Instead, the Prime Minister and Donald Trump emphaised how the day was a 'victory' for Israel.

    James O'Brien also speculates on the ulterior motive of Netanyahu's 'sycophancy' towards Trump, pointing towards his own possible political motivations.

    Altogether, he concludes that the speeches by both men are 'conflicting and contradictory'.

    Egypt Summit: The Farce of Trump’s ‘Peace’ That Legitimizes Genocide in Gaza -today



    The recent international summit in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, has been sold to the world as the end point of a two-year siege and the culmination of the “peace” process for Gaza.

    The official narrative, co-chaired by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and US President Donald Trump, seeks to impose a story of diplomatic success.

    However, for millions in the Global South and those fighting for justice, this meeting was nothing more than a geopolitical performance designed to legitimize the conclusion of the Israeli offensive without ever addressing the structural roots of the genocide and occupation.

    This agreement comes after Israeli apartheid left a brutal toll: more than 67,800 Palestinians killed in Gaza.

    The so-called “peace” was signed at the price of blood and rubble, as the summit coincided with the end of the humanitarian exchange of prisoners/hostages.

    Hamas’s allegations about the “most severe forms of sadism and fascism” inflicted upon the released Palestinian detainees underscore that the systemic violence of the occupation does not cease with the truce, but is merely masked.

    In this in-depth article, we will thoroughly analyze what the “peace” summit held in Egypt really was.


    The Absences That Define the Agreement

    The agreement is intrinsically illegitimate due to the notable absences from the table. The two main signatories of the truce, Israel and Hamas, were not present.

    Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declined to attend, citing a religious holiday, a weak excuse interpreted by diplomatic sources as clear internal resistance regarding the political scope of the negotiations.

    This absence underscores the disconnect between the summit and the ground reality, allowing Israel to maintain distance to continue operating with impunity.

    Israel opted for a lower-level technical delegation, reaffirming its power position where political negotiations are secondary to its military and security decisions.

    On the other hand, Hamas, excluded from the table, only participated through Qatari and Egyptian mediators.

    This exclusion highlights the nature of the agreement: an unequal negotiation where the occupied and resisting party is denied a direct voice on the main stage.

    Even more significant were the absences of states with critical stances. The non-attendance of Iran (Hamas’s main ally) and, especially, Saudi Arabia, evidences the fracture in the regional bloc and limits the effectiveness of the agreement to an axis functional to the US.

    The Iranian Foreign Minister refused to “sit in the same place as the people who have attacked the people of Iran,” directly pointing to US allies.

    The composition of the summit was a filter: the allies of the US and those who accept the conditions of the hegemonic power were present to bless the agreement; those who seek a solution that fully recognizes international law (like Russia and China) or who are considered direct enemies (Iran, Hamas), were deliberately marginalized or self-excluded.

    So far, that's the kind of thing that seems to rein in the reckless behavior. No serious economic blockade has been attempted yet. It would be pretty easy to boycott, divest, and sanction this plague and it would just shrivel away, but you have to revoke the support.
