Will the renovated Notre-Dame become a woke ‘Disneyland’?

The fire of 2019 ravaged the iconic Paris cathedral, but it’s still under threat of further damage according to high-profile members of French cultural society, who are slamming the approved restoration project.

    https://www.rt.com/pop-culture/54380...me-disneyland/

Barely had the flames been extinguished than French President Emmanuel Macron had promised to rebuild Notre-Dame in an “even more beautiful” way. Well, it looks like his idea was perceived quite differently by many.

First, there was the matter of the roof. As the iconic wooden spire collapsed entirely, designers started to wonder whether a glass roof or one capable of generating solar energy would fit the building better.

Or maybe there should be a greenhouse? It was finally decided that it should be rebuilt just as it had been before.

Regarding the interior, however, a far less conservative decision was reached. On December 9, National Heritage and Architecture Commission experts approved a radical redesign project, sparking a huge wave of criticism.

Father Gilles Drouin, who is in charge of the interior renovations, told the media that, apart from changes to the cathedral lighting and the acquisition of new benches, the plan included Bible quotes in several languages projected on the walls, as well as modern art installations to replace some of the little-used 19th-century confessionals.

The idea of bringing contemporary vibes to a centuries-old cathedral doesn’t sit well with prominent figures of the cultural community. Indeed, 100 of them published an open letter protesting against the modernization of the cathedral.

“When we are talking about Notre-Dame, we are not talking about a random monument – we are talking about the most significant French monument. It’s more than a regular discussion about art restoration and legacy, but also about a symbol,” doctor of philosophy Sami Biasoni, who signed the letter, told RT. “There’s a chance for a change, so they [the authorities] want to make it as contemporary as any kind of a museum, but it’s not a regular museum.”

Notre-Dame de Paris to become a Disneyland?

Those who devised the restoration plan insist it will offer visitors a better opportunity to understand its cultural background. Father Drouin told the AFP news agency that, before the fire, it was noticed that more Chinese tourists had started to light candles in a chapel dedicated to a Chinese martyr when texts in Mandarin were installed there.

Still, critics of the project accuse the authorities of trying to turn the cathedral into a theme park. “It’s as if Disney were entering Notre-Dame,” architect and urbanist Maurice Culot told The Telegraph.

Albert Doja, professor of anthropology at the University of Lille, who also signed the open letter, insists its historical background must be preserved regardless of religious or commercial issues. “I think that Notre-Dame de Paris is a historical monument. It’s part of our cultural heritage. So, it’s not only a touristic place,” he told RT.

Biasoni thinks Notre-Dame visitors want to access French history and culture – “to touch and to feel it.”

“Modernity is everywhere, I love it, but we need to have the places where we celebrate the past,” he insists.

“I visited both these places, and I felt cultural proximity to Turkish and Russian people because I was offered an opportunity to be engaged in their past,” Biasoni says.

Professor Doja added that erasing parts of the historical background for the sake of modern tendencies may even damage people’s self-identification. “Culture is part of people’s identity, no matter how much they know about it. Maybe they are not even aware of that,” he told RT. “The history, the culture, the language, their relations with each other, the way how they behave, the way they think – these are the things that define people.”

Rebuilding Notre Dame | Full Documentary | NOVA | PBS
    53 minutes

Following the April, 2019 fire that almost destroyed Paris’s iconic Notre Dame Cathedral, a team of engineers, masons, and timber workers set out on the daunting challenge of restoring France’s historic landmark. The program traces the dramatic human and technical challenges of the project’s first three years, going behind-the-scenes with carpenters shaping lumber for the new roof and spire, stone masons repairing gaping holes in the vault, and artisans who use traditional techniques to restore stained glass windows. A symbol of the nation’s identity and resilience, Notre Dame gradually rises from the ashes, thanks to a restoration project like no other.

Notre Dame reopens! Here is a 2+ hour coverage of the event, which was quite well done. Of course speeches, pageantry and musical performances were well videographed, but I would imagine that all the pictures of world leaders setting there doing almost nothing was carefully choreographed too. I found it interesting as to see who got the seats of honor from front road center to the left. It was 1) Emanuel Macron (as it should be, he was the head of the country that financed this great endeavor). 2) Donald J. Trump 3) Brigitte Macron 4) Jill Biden 5) Ashley Biden.

The one other world leader who you kept seeing in photo shoots was Zelinsky. I had to wonder if that was for political reasons, or perhaps the cameraman was just saying "Look at this one slacker who shows up to an event like this and he can't even bother to wear a tie!" Yes, his wife Olena went shopping at Cartier in New York and dropped a million dollars on two pieces of jewelry and she couldn't even buy her slob husband a tie?!? The other great irony for me is that hundreds of thousands of Ukranian men are dying now and they can't get a Christian funeral because Zelinsky has closed all the churches. Why is he allowed to pass through the front door of a church here?

I did not see Putin, Xi or Modi in the audience which makes me wonder what the event is really about? I think it is to welcome Trump into the new order, to say "Okay, it's up to you to do something about the multipolar BRICS order. We didn't like you, but perhaps you are our last hope. Now get to work."

The church looks beautiful but I rather see it being used for a truly religious event, as opposed to this secular event and celebration of globalist power. Before they use the church for a real mass, I hope they thoroughly fumigate with lots of incense and lots of prayers to Archangel Micheal against demonic entities to clear the area it of any Luciferian New World energies that were left in some of those front rows.

I know what you mean. At first I was relieved at least it was not the Woke Disney version that was re-opened, but as I looked at it, I too felt it had all the signs of a NATO elite global ritual to usher in Trump as their new leader to save them from BRICs.

I found it creepy, and utterly distasteful that they were all swanning around smugly and happily on the same day that Syria fell, and they did not care at all, it was irrelevant to them. They obviously were happy that there they were, enjoying their lavish and luxurious celebration while more slaughter and bloodletting to appease their gods was taking place at that very moment. They do so love their slaughter.

That kind of ruined it all for me.

Ashley Biden took artistic inspiration from her surroundings for her look at the reopening of the Notre Dame cathedral, choosing striking, complex embellishments in a coat by Alice + Olivia.
The daughter of U.S. first lady Jill Biden and outgoing American president Joe Biden, sat alongside her mother on Saturday in Paris at the restored building wearing the brand’s Thomas coat. The piece, by founder Stacey Bendet, was a statement-maker, done in black and gold, featuring embellished jacquard, sharp shoulders, button-less closure and a maxi-length with a high-neck silhouette.

Interesting that the article only mentions who her mother is. Could her father also be someone famous?

Yes, I also found this photo-op for the world's most powerful psycopaths to be stomach turning. The occasion for reopening the church today is the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, which is a day that celebrates Mary's conception, 9 months before her birth, and the uniquely Roman Catholic idea that Mary, the mother of Jesus, has always been completely "sinless". It is quite a yin-yang concept that this is balanced with the appearance of so many evil, sinful, psycho-critters inside the church.

There was one truly magical moment for me though, that made watching this completely worthwhile, which was the "reawakening" of the newly restored organ. It felt like a great sacred ritual in what was otherwise a secular event. (Catholics know that the real inauguration of the church is the first mass celebrated there - which would happen the following morning.) The Bishop utters some sacred prayers, a light comes on in the organ gallery, and then the great organist Oliver Latry starts improvising, first on some of the lower pipes and gradually building to something very wild and frenzied. All four of Notre-Dames organists got to participate in this event. The video can only pick up so much of the experience, one really has to be there to feel the physical effects of the 32 foot pipes, and of being in a great resonant space when all the pipes get pulled out. It must have been amazing.

The event seems to be some kind of flip-flop act considering the opening of the Paris Olympics had satanic imagery. The same bizarre behavior was in the opening ceremony of the Gotthard tunnel.

What can you say, this re-build does not compensate the French people's tragic loss of their cultural landscape. Zelensky is repulsive, deeply repulsive and the disingenuous praise and applause he used to get from his paymasters now rings very hollow: now he is being ticked off for being an insufferable slob and rude, vulgar little man.
Notre Dame cathedral, what a tragic, awful loss, this is a horrible spectacle, everything to do with the official world is today hollow, inauthentic and a huge insult to the intelligence of the people.

In this NOVA documentary they found two lead coffins directly where the steeple fell onto the church floor. They also found an ancient heating system. I'm thinking the entire church was scanned and the lead objects couldn't be penetrated so they set the fire as an excuse to excavate. That falls into the same context as invading Iraq after the discovery of the tomb of Gilgamesh. World War II allowed the Nazi's to go to sites around the world unrestricted.
