A new Washington Post investigation reports that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth personally gave the order to “kill them all” during the first U.S. boat strike in the Caribbean on Sept. 2.

According to multiple officials with direct knowledge, U.S. surveillance confirmed a suspected drug-running vessel, and Hegseth’s spoken directive was to leave no survivors. After the first missile strike, two men were seen alive in the water; the Special Operations commander overseeing the mission ordered a second strike to finish them, reportedly to comply with Hegseth’s order.

SEAL Team 6 carried out the operation. Law-of-war experts and some U.S. officials say the campaign is illegal as the suspected traffickers posed no imminent threat, and the U.S. is not in a lawful armed conflict with them. One former military lawyer called the killings “murder,” adding that an order to kill incapacitated survivors would constitute a war crime.

The Pentagon denies the report, calling the narrative “completely false,” but internal briefings to Congress have frustrated lawmakers, who say the explanations don’t add up and key footage has not been provided. Since that first attack, at least 22 more boats have been hit and more than 80 people killed, with little public evidence that all were combatants.

A direct order to kill everyone onboard, survivors included, and a growing debate inside the U.S. government about legality.

"Anyone arguing on behalf of the Chavista Regime and calling the US military presence around Venezuela a “pretext for imperialist designs on their resources” is shilling for the Cartel, whether or not they’re on their payroll and regardless of whether they even understand what they’re saying. I don't want Trump to get the world into another war, but along with peace, I support honesty, especially in reporting. So when I see flagrant lying, I feel a need to call it out. There is so much proven dishonesty in this video that I'm surprised it is being posted. We know that the Washington Post piece was a dishonest hit job from start to finish. I am searching for the right word for these two characters with malicious intent to harm the public with untruthful information. I suppose Slanderers, Demagogues, Hatemongers, but I think I will go with sanctimonious vipers, more fitting and more honest.

That is the problem. It's never a good idea to place anyone on a pedestal above the law, and it's even worse to cover up incriminating evidence.
We're soon headed into a terribly disastrous world conflict (or the worsening of the already existing world conflicts) if this is allowed to go on unchecked.

So, here's a serious question. Has there been any evidence produced by the Trump team that Venezuela is smuggling drugs into USA?
If not, then the Trump supporters really need to open their eyes, and request Trump to stop this madness. Nobody needs to start a war on Venezuela.
Personally, I have a growing sense of dread of what's about to happen... Not feeling safe in Canada either, too close to USA.

The US military has conducted a number of deadly attacks on boats it claims were linked to Venezuelan-led narcotics smuggling

The US will soon start bombing alleged drug cartel targets on land, US President Donald Trump told reporters in a cabinet meeting on Tuesday.

The announcement comes amid a massive US military buildup in the Caribbean, which Washington says is aimed at curbing Venezuelan-led drug trafficking. Caracas has denied the accusations, arguing that the US is using them as a pretext to justify invading the resource-rich South American nation.

In recent months, Washington has killed more than 80 people in strikes on boats in the Caribbean and Pacific that it claims were smuggling narcotics.

“And we’re going to start doing those strikes on land, too. You know, the land is much easier,” Trump said at the White House. “We’re going to start that very soon.”

He did not expand on where or when the strikes would take place.

Asked to elaborate, Trump added that Washington could expand the strikes to any country allegedly smuggling drugs into the US, specifically mentioning Colombia.

The US military deployment in the Caribbean waters off Venezuela, which has now reportedly reached upwards of 16,000 personnel, has been accompanied by increasing political pressure on Caracas.

In recent months, Washington has offered a $50 million bounty for information leading to the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, and greenlit clandestine CIA operations in his country.

Maduro has denied the drug trafficking allegations, accusing the US of “fabricating a new war” and regime-change operation aimed at seizing Venezuela’s vast resource reserves.

Forgive me if I step in here just for a moment. (I've been steering clear of this discussion, maybe for obvious reasons, but I felt I had to make a couple of points.)

• I watched the short video (just 2 minutes). I was intrigued to know what the issue was about.
  
  
• Macgregor's remarks reminded me strongly of the plot, with its final courtroom climax (one of the great scenes of movie history!), of the classic Jack Nicholson/Tom Cruise movie A Few Good Men. (The briefest summary: two lowly marines are put on trial for executing an illegal order passed down the line from their senior commanding officer.)
  
  
• And I have a Socratean question, for anyone to answer if they would like to. If the killing of the two survivors in the water, clinging to the wreckage of their boat, is deemed to be acceptable "in the fog of war", would it have been equally acceptable if they'd had their hands free enough to be holding white flags? (I'm rather surprised no-one in the White House press corps has asked that question.)
