It is quite chilling what emerges from the witness accounts (but I think there are messages between Epstein and Trump that have emerged that are very questionable, so that is material evidence, not witness testimony). Epstein was a ruthless bully, and so many knew what was going on and flocked around him. To be pessimistic, I do not think that there will be any accountability for participants, and there will be no change in the behaviour of elites.

This is an eternal political squabble ... perhaps apt in the time of social media dumbing down when a person can be cancelled by a baying mob, despite laws protecting free speech.

If, using the Al Capone strategy, politicians do manage to impeach the president, who would replace Trump, and what would Trump do (start a civil war?)? Trump is commander in chief. Would military and law enforcement be loyal to him?

Removed from office, he would no longer be commander for them to be loyal to.

Nixon resigned; therefor, Gerald Ford became president in an unelected manner. Nothing came from court, but scandal was enough to change his behavior. Markets and supporters blow around like leaves in the wind over these matters. That is why exposure is important.

No Civil War has ever taken place here. The War between the States was an attempt to remove the authority of Washington in exactly the same way the Revolution removed the authority of the British. There in England, there have been civil wars, meaning a rival party usurped control of the whole country.

Nobody is going to try to take over Washington D. C.. Then as now, we are saying this is not a good system to the level that we don't want it. There's no discussion to be had on the future of a bloated, amoral war machine; we are stuck at the impasse where it continues.

In the sense this squabble is eternal, yes, this is more correct; many regimes displaying the symptom that, during the course of their existence, some particular class will elevate and insulate themselves using a body of law, which typically exploits the other classes. Then they will try to tell you that you need it or have to have it. Anything to maintain the position.

I would say it is unlikely for an impeachment to have any consequences, but, things change if we go to the level of Congressional Resolutions limiting the use of force. I'm not sure that has a precursor.

Donald Trump Jr.’s Ridiculous Greenland Trip Just Took a Dark Turn
It appears the whole thing was staged.

A MAGA visit intended to make Greenland look pro–Donald Trump appears staged from the bottom up.

The so-called tourism trip saw Donald Trump Jr., far-right political pundit Charlie Kirk, and Trump administration staffer Sergio Gor visit the self-governing Danish territory at a time when the president-elect has made some odd jokes and eyebrow-raising militaristic threats about buying Greenland.

The trio’s presence on the island—and myriad photo ops with local residents—was not taken well by some of Greenland’s politicians, who slammed Don Jr.’s visit as a stunt to make the territory appear open to U.S. governance. Pipaluk Lynge, the chair of Greenland’s parliamentary foreign and security policy committee, told Politico that the territory wants its “own independence and democracy.” Lynge also warned the United States not to “invade” the nation, which is largely composed of Indigenous tribes, in light of its historical treatment of Alaska’s Indigenous population.

“Greenland is not for sale and will never be for sale,” Aaja Chemnitz, another member of Greenland’s Parliament, told NBC News.

But some of the behind-the-scenes details of the pro-Trump expedition are even worse.

Danish media reported Thursday that a series of photos featuring Kirk and Greenlandic residents in MAGA hats was staged. The MAGA cohort reportedly rounded up homeless people from the area—including one person from under a bridge—promising them a meal at the Hotel Hans Egede in exchange for their participation in the pro-Trump photo circuit.

Videos of the trip that circulated on X describe the Greenlandic participants as “the local community in Nuuk,” but several local sources that spoke with DR News described the photographed individuals as “homeless and socially disadvantaged” people who are often outside the supermarket directly across from the hotel where the Trump event was held.

“All they have to do is put on a cap and be in the Trump staff’s videos. They are being bribed, and it is deeply distasteful,” Tom Amtoft, a 28-year resident of Nuuk, told the Danish news outlet.

Amtoft reportedly witnessed the group’s attempts to get locals to wear the MAGA caps for the photos, describing the process as “very aggressive.” He said the Trump envoys chose a “selective” group of people “who could say that Greenland should be bought.”

I just discovered that where I live has been gerrymandered as recently as the 2020s by the GOP in their favor. It was sued for racial discrimination, which was dismissed. The situation exists because new GOP judges overturned the previous ruling. This machine works behind my back, while I am sleeping, to ensure that I am un-represented and silenced.

If these lines had been drawn previously, McCain would have been elected rather than Obama. Seems like there was a purpose, rather than glib response to "population increase". The "bias index" used to estimate these districts rose from about even to +8. Nice going, imaginary lines.

CBS KILLS ‘60 MINUTES’ INVESTIGATION INTO U.S. DEPORTATIONS TO EL SALVADOR’S CECOT PRISON

The decision came from CBS Editor-in-Chief Bari Weiss after the Trump administration refused to participate, giving the White House editorial control over investigative reporting, according to internal emails.

That matters because CECOT isn’t just a prison.

As we’ve been reporting, CECOT is being used as a training ground and laboratory for a new model of mass detention: algorithmic profiling, biometric sorting, collective punishment, militarized incarceration, and population-control techniques exported under the banner of “anti-gang” and “anti-terror” enforcement.

The pulled 60 Minutes segment had already passed standards, legal review, and multiple internal screenings. It included testimony from former detainees describing torture and abuse, corroborating findings from Human Rights Watch that CECOT violates international minimum standards for prisoner treatment.

By pulling the report because the government declined an interview, CBS signaled that they take orders directly from the administration.

Russia condemns seizure of Venezuelan tankers
Washington’s actions could have dire consequences, Moscow’s envoy to the UN, Vassily Nebenzia, has said

Russia has condemned the seizure of oil tankers off the coast of Venezuela by the US military, warning it could have “catastrophic consequences.” Earlier this week, the US Coast Guard conducted the second such operation.

“We strongly condemn the seizure of oil tankers by the US military and the de facto imposition of a naval blockade of Venezuela,” Moscow’s envoy to the UN, Vassily Nebenzia, said on Tuesday, as quoted by RIA Novosti.

“Washington’s responsibility for the catastrophic consequences of such cowboy behavior for the residents of the blockaded country is also obvious. Unfortunately, there is every reason to believe that the US actions against Venezuela are not a one-off. This unfolding intervention could become a template for future military actions against Latin American states,” Nebenzia noted.

US President Donald Trump has justified the blockade by claiming that the Latin American country “stole” US energy assets, while warning that Caracas will face the might of “the largest armada ever assembled in the history of South America” unless it returns them.

The US also deployed a large number of special-operations aircraft and multiple cargo planes carrying troops and equipment to the Caribbean earlier this week, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The first two oil tankers seized were operating on the black market and providing oil to countries under sanctions, Kevin Hassett, director of the White House’s National Economic Council, has claimed.

Since September, the US military has also been conducting strikes on small boats alleged to be carrying drugs, which UN experts have condemned as unlawful extrajudicial executions.

When asked repeatedly during a press conference on Monday if Washington’s intention was to force Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro from power, Trump gave non-committal remarks alluding to that possibility. “He can do whatever he wants,” the president responded. “If he wants to do something, if he plays tough, it will be the last time he ever plays tough.” He also claimed it would be “smart” for Maduro to step down.

Trump tells Colombian president to ‘watch his a**’
The US leader has accused Bogota of allowing cocaine trafficking and has stepped up pressure on Gustavo Petro

US President Donald Trump has lashed out at his Colombian counterpart, Gustavo Petro, warning he could face consequences over cocaine trafficking that he claims is reaching America.

Trump’s remarks followed comments by Petro reacting to US seizures of Venezuelan oil ships, in which he claimed that “all of the southern US” was built on stolen land. He said Texas and California were “invaded” and demanded that the United States “give back what you stole.”

“He’s very bad, very bad guy, and he’s got to watch his ass because he makes cocaine and they send it into the United States,” Trump said Monday at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida, responding to a reporter’s question about Petro’s remarks.

“We love the Colombian people ... but their new leader is a troublemaker, and he better watch it,” Trump added. He also claimed Colombia has at least three major cocaine factories and said “he better close them up fast.”

Colombia has long been a close US partner in Latin America, but ties have cooled since Petro, the country’s first left-wing president, took office in 2022.

US actions against Venezuela, including the seizure of oil tankers, have heightened tensions with Petro, who has criticized those moves and warned against US military intervention.

In September, the US State Department said it would revoke Petro’s visa, and the Trump administration later imposed sanctions under anti-drug trafficking authorities, steps Colombia has condemned as politically motivated.

A month later, Petro alleged that the Trump administration had bombed a Colombian boat carrying civilians during US operations targeting suspected drug smugglers near the Venezuelan coast.

Petro has pushed back against Trump’s rhetoric, disputing claims about drug production while pointing to Colombia’s efforts to curb illegal crops, although data show the country remains the main source of cocaine seized in the United States.

On Tuesday Colombia said it will deploy drones to destroy coca crops, a shift from manual eradication after aerial fumigation was banned in 2015 due to environmental concerns.

Washington has long criticized Bogota’s decision to halt aerial fumigation. In September, the US added Colombia to a list of nations it claimed were failing to cooperate in the drug war for the first time in nearly 30 years, accusing Petro’s government of not doing enough to curb cocaine production.
