Maybe they are bending as Trump negotiates a backroom deal and uses leverage to get cooperation to help ICE remove criminal elements in the illegal migrant group ...?

These people are not well. I don’t think you’d even disagree with that - it’s a dilemma. And it’s spiraling. If people like you don’t talk to people like me about how to undo whatever has been done to these people’s brains to make them want to go LARP as revolutionaries & sacrifice their lives at the alter of stupid politics…

Then how can you ever claim to care about other humans besides yourself?

I don’t wanna see anymore people die over this ****, and neither do you….thats called a common objective…we don’t have to like one another…

It ain’t a partisan fight. It’s societal problem solving. It’s innovation. You are closer to these people in being able to understand how they got to where they got to in their heads than we are, that’s a recognition that you have valuable insight.

It’s a mental health epidemic. Which of course is predictable in the course of the timeline when you just remember “Covid” - some version or multiple versions of “this” was going to take place after “that”, cause we know a decent amount about human psychology.

The two agents who fired the shots have met with mental health professionals. They have a 3-day administrative leave. They will be placed on desk duty if they return to work until the so-called "investigation" is complete.

Palantir Technologies, the CIA-linked technology firm, has come under fire for its role in helping US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) track and arrest undocumented immigrants targeted for deportation using information from government databases, Fortune reported on 28 January.

ELITE, a tracking tool used by ICE and developed by Palantir, uses data from the government healthcare program Medicaid and other government databases to generate profiles of individuals ICE believes may be deportable.

“ICE is using a Palantir tool that uses Medicaid and other government data to stalk people for arrest,” the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), a nonprofit advocating for internet freedom, recently wrote.

The EFF said that Palantir is seeking collect vast troves of government data into a single searchable, AI-enabled interface.

Demonstrations opposing ICE operations to round up migrants have grown in size across the country following the agency’s killing Alex Pretti and Renee Nicole Good in recent weeks.

In both cases, killings were caught on camera and went viral, leading to widespread public anger.

Last year, Palantir received a $30 million contract to design an AI platform, called ImmigrationOS, to “track immigrants’ movements.”

Palantir can also access data from the US Citizenship and Immigration Services, the agency that handles citizenship applications.

During his election campaign, US President Donald Trump vowed to expand deportations and has leaned heavily on tech firms run by CEOs enjoying close ties to his administration.

Since coming to office, Trump has helped Palantir expand its access to US government data. Alex Karp, Palantir’s CEO, claims his firm can assist with everything from battlefield intelligence to tax enforcement.

“Big Tech, including Palantir, is increasingly complicit, normalizing authoritarianism under the guise of a ‘revolution’ led by oligarchs,” according to a public letter calling on tech CEOs to cancel contracts with ICE. The letter has accumulated 450 signatures from tech employees, including from Palantir, Google, and OpenAI.

Last fall, ICE signed a $4.5 million contract with BI2 Technologies for a system that allows agents in the field to identify people by scanning their irises with smartphones.

BI2 says on its website that the technology can identify people in seconds, compared with the hours it can take using fingerprints, by accessing a national database of iris scans built expressly for law enforcement purposes.

Palantir Technologies is among the tech companies that have been implicated in enabling and profiting from Israel’s genocide of Palestinians in Gaza.

Its advanced data analytics and AI tools, which supposedly provide “precision targeting,” have helped the Israeli air force carry out mass killings of Palestinian civilians in a calculated and systematic manner with little human oversight.

Palantir supplies the Israeli military with AI platforms that use intelligence data to spit out lists of alleged members of Hamas to kill.

The platforms issue a notification when targets enter their family homes, after which the Israeli military then bombs them, their wives and children, and often everyone else in the building.

Founded in 2003 by Karp and Peter Thiel, Palantir has grown from a secretive data analytics startup to a cornerstone of modern military and intelligence operations.

Initially funded by the CIA’s venture capital arm, In-Q-Tel, Palantir’s tech products have become integral to numerous US government agencies, including the FBI, Department of Defense, and various police departments.

"On Thursday, Jan 22 at approximately 1pm, a group of about a dozen Vermont community elders with whistles entered the atrium of White Cap Office Park in Williston VT, home of ICE’s National Criminal Analysis and Targeting Center.

They refused to leave when ordered by Williston Police, the property manager, and federal agents, demanding instead that the landlord renegotiate and cancel the facility’s lease.

For the next 3.5 hours, they sat together in silence, pausing every 90 seconds to read the name of someone killed in ICE custody, followed by a loud whistle blast.

Williston Police arrived at around 1:30pm, and asked protesters to leave and stop making noise. A group of 5 elders refused and remained in the atrium accompanied by a medic and physical therapist.

Around 2pm, property manager and landlord Normand Stanislas arrived and began screaming at supporters gathered outside that he would have them arrested.

Around 3:15, the Williston Police announced that they had determined that the protestors were not breaking the law and were acting within their first amendment rights. They declined to arrest the group, which had paused blowing whistles to sit in front of the ICE office doors.

After the Williston Police had left, several DHS agents approached the group and threatened to charge them with Class C federal misdemeanors but did not actually do so, likely because they lacked authority to do so. The agents attempted to physically remove the elders and carry them away from the doors, but the group continued to exercise their right to protest by walking over and sitting back down. Eventually, the agents left.

The group continued their protest with banners and singing until the sun began setting, when they left the office park of their own accord.
Karen Bixler, 83, of Bethel said, “I’m taking this action to bring attention to our state’s role in this horrific institution. White collar workers, sheltered from the brutality that is taking place in our country, are providing ICE with information to aid in their raids.”

This protest follows several months of public outcry against the Industrial Ave facility, which is used to monitor civilian social media activity and identify targets for ICE detention and deportation. Over the winter, community groups conducted several noise demos at White Cap Business, and anonymous individuals hung a banner from the flagpoles reading “ICE VIOLATES RIGHTS HERE.”

70 year-old Dorothy Mammen of Middlebury said: “This facility is staffing up to spy on people via social media, to flag "negative sentiment" toward ICE and build dossiers on anyone who opposes fascism. They are compiling personal details, family links, and using facial recognition. To what end? To stifle dissent; to trample our right to free speech.”

The office at White Cap is one of many ICE-related facilities in Chittenden County, which serves as the national nerve center for ICE operations. The notorious Law Enforcement Support Center on Harvest Lane is home to ICE’s nationwide tip line, while at least 10 other nearby locations (totaling an estimated 400,000 square feet of office space) are used by DHS for data processing, surveillance, and administrative work.

On Tuesday, the Williston Selectboard passed a resolution condemning ICE activities in the town, and several hundred protesters marched in the frigid temperature to denounce the ICE Call Center on Harvest Lane.

The elders risking arrest in Thursday’s sit-in were not representatives of any official group or organization, but simply community members concerned about the safety of their neighbors. They expressed hope that their action would help others to find the courage necessary to get ICE out of Williston."

The man accused of squirting an unknown substance on Democratic U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar at a town hall in Minneapolis has a criminal history and has made online posts supportive of President Donald Trump.

Anthony Kazmierczak, 55, was convicted of felony auto theft in 1989, has been arrested multiple times for driving under the influence and has had numerous traffic citations, Minnesota court records show. There are also indications he has had significant financial problems, including two bankruptcy filings.

Police say Kazmierczak used a syringe to squirt liquid on Omar during Tuesday's event after she called for the abolishment of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the firing or impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem following the fatal shootings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti. Officers immediately tackled and arrested Kazmierczak, who was jailed on a preliminary third-degree assault charge, police spokesperson Trevor Folke said.

A neighbor told the New York Post that Kazmierczak said he was going to Omar's town hall and "I might get arrested."

In social media posts, Kazmierczak described himself as a former network engineer who lives in Minneapolis. Among other things, he made comments critical of former President Joe Biden, a Democrat, and referred to Democrats as "angry and liars."

Trump, a Republican, "wants the US is stronger and more prosperous," Kazmierczak wrote. "Stop other countries from stealing from us. Bring back the fear that enemies back away from and gain respect that If anyone threatens ourselves or friends we will (expletive) them up."

In another post, Kazmierczak asked, "When will descendants of slaves pay restitution to Union soldiers families for freeing them/dying for them, and not sending them back to Africa?

The attack came days after a man was arrested in Utah for allegedly punching U.S. Rep. Maxwell Frost, a Democrat from Florida, in the face at a bar during the Sundance Film Festival.

Christian Joel Young, 28, said "we are going to deport your kind" before striking the congressman, according to a probable cause affidavit. Young also said something similar to a woman and pushed her, the affidavit said. He was charged Tuesday in state court with two counts of misdemeanor assault and felony burglary for entering the bar illegally.

A judge ordered him held without bail. Young's attorney declined to comment.

Kim Iversen strongly suspects that all this is being engineered to divide the nation, though her guest, Craig "Pasta" Jardula (a journalist who is a Bernie Sanders supporter), talking to many of the protesters there, states that as best as he was able to discover they are not actually being funded or paid.

Phew! What kind of savage jungle has the world become that the public execution of someone (unarmed and prone on the ground) by shooting him multiple times is justified because he spat in the direction of someone and kicked and broke a taillight of a moving car on a previous occasion?

That there is even a discussion about if the killing of Good and Petti was justified or not is very disturbing. The killings were not even accidental. And if the two people murdered were what you judge to be good people or not is irrelevant.

Is it possible for people to step away from the violence and the cult-like thinking of politics and find a clear, rational way to behave?

Personally, I am not a fan of unregulated and uncontrolled immigration. How can a government, at any level, govern effectively if it does not know how many people there are, what their needs are, what their skills are, etc.? If there are not enough job opportunities or housing or schools or health care facilities or public transport, and so on, how are these people going to sustain themselves? It is a fact of life that especially in times of financial and material hardship, locals become angry when immigrants take up space and resources (longer queues at health care clinics and lack of spending on infrastructure, etc.), and tend to scapegoat the newcomers. Especially in cities, all over the world countries are facing the consequences of increasing immigration. Governments should lead the way in managing conflict and the challenge of using resources for the benefit of all, not send out an armed militia with zero accountability to terrorize communities.
