Several posters on X pointed out that the propeller blades at 10 o'clock and 12 o'clock position are melted and bent in opposite direction. This shows that this was caused by intentional destruction by heat, rather than an impact. If the propeller blades had impacted from downing caused by enemy fire, then the blades would have broken up rather than being bent. This is because the propeller blades are made from composite material, rather than metal.

Was the US rescue operation already THE plan for land op in disguise?

Nuclear enrichment facilities (especially Natanz) are significantly closer-roughly 100 km range versus 280+ km to the pilot's likely down/search area.

The equipment used also seems a bit odd for a manhunt rescue mission - why’d you bring C-130s?

The burnt wrecks do have bullet holes. Rotors are bent, indicating they were spinning.

Maybe it was never about burning 300M equipment for 1 missing pilot - but instead the idea to invade deep into Iran’s territory by surprise and disabling enrichment facilities - but that plan “blew up” and they had to abandon it and call it a rescue mission?

If so, Trump’s options for next week may have changed significantly (and possibly why he has a meltdown on Truth?).

Just for the record, Iranian Fars News reported the events rather differently. It has to be possible that the US military account may be inaccurate... either slightly so, or very much so. (But how can we tell??)

If the US account is entirely accurate, one might suspect with such a propaganda victory as the heroic rescue of a downed airman in hostile territory (and it may indeed have been a heroic rescue), that the airman would be interviewed and hailed as a hero (and again, he might indeed have been quite some hero to have survived on his own until being rescued).

It'll be interesting to see if we're shown his name and photo. And a Fox News interview would be something else. (Should we hold our breaths? Maybe not.)

• Since Saturday night, search operations to find the American pilot(s) have continued in the 3 provinces: Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, Isfahan, and Kohgiluyeh & Boyer-Ahmad.

• Isfahan: Around 2 AM today, Iranians in southern Isfahan reported hearing the sound of an airplane flying, and simultaneously, the sound of drones and helicopters was heard in parts of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad.

• According to local sources, until about 5 AM, several explosions were heard in southern Isfahan. The IRGC & Army then announced in statements the destruction of 2 MQ-9 and Hermes 900 drones, and the Khatam al-Anbiya also reported the destruction of 2 transport planes (C-130 Hercules) and 2 helicopters.

• Some local sources reported that the US attempted to destroy the remains of the crashed aircraft and even the bodies of killed American forces.

• Field sources also report the killing of several American forces by Iran’s armed forces.

• Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad: During the enemy’s early morning attack on a point in Siyah Mountain, a point in Kakan, and the Vozg area of Yasuj city, there were a total of 9 martyrs and 7 wounded.

• Some media linked these attacks to the search operation for the pilot and even claimed that American forces were deployed to rescue the American pilot, but official provincial sources denied these claims.

• The political and security deputy governor of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad told a Fars reporter: No heliborne operations were carried out by the US in last night’s attacks.

Odds are the rescue team did NOT get in and out of there without taking on some enemy fire and resistance of some sort or another. It just doesn't make sense for this rescue mission to be just a cake walk, easy in, easy out.

For them to have to destroy aircraft etc., sounds to me that something perhaps went sideways....how bad it went sideways has yet to be revealed. I doubt two planes got stuck in the mud, that makes no sense.

I believe they rescued the pilot, but I highly doubt no bullets were flying and everyone got out of there without a scratch.

That's not a bad deduction.

Rescue II was fake because the "abandoned airport" didn't happen to be too conveniently close to the crash site.

It's a good cover -- you don't think this is an invasion, because you think it's a rescue.

There were no Basij at the crash site, so, no number of commandos and "extreme firepower" would have served any purpose.

It would, to clear natives from an airport where C-130s had been merely disabled by gunfire, and yes, damage to the composite propellors is consistent with heat, not impact.

I can't say anything about what looks to be some male underwear and a female pilot.

The crew members ought to be verifiable one way or another, and I don't have enough doubt in Rescue I to care. Burden of proof is on the second one.

Iran will give you a parallel memory:

Operation Eagle Claw of April 1980.

That aborted mission, launched during the first year of the Islamic Revolution, had sought to rescue US captives from Tehran but ended in disaster at a remote desert in Tabas.

A sandstorm, equipment failures, and a catastrophic collision between a C-130 transport plane and an RH-53 helicopter had killed eight American servicemen and left the wreckage of multiple aircraft abandoned on Iranian soil.

The United States had suffered not just military defeat but global humiliation at the time.

On 5 April 2026, 46 years later, history repeated itself with even greater Iranian proficiency.

Where the 1980 Tabas operation had failed primarily due to weather and mechanical issues, the 2026 Isfahan defeat was the product of deliberate, coordinated Iranian defensive action.

Iranian forces did not wait for nature to defeat the Americans; they destroyed them directly, using domestically developed weapons, real-time intelligence integration, and the courage of IRGC, police commandos and Basij volunteers.

But, yes, as a harsh judge of speculation, the idea that Rescue II is a cover story for a failed commando insertion seems the most likely explanation here.

XXV Amendment can "stop" someone, but, like impeachment, the bar is 2/3 of Congress. It would need to have this many literates. And I don't believe it does.
