I was not sure where to put this. The 'What is happening in China' thread has become devoted to anti-China propaganda and anyone who tries to post anything different there is threatened, as I experienced. (There is space for propaganda on most threads here because if you do not pay attention to propaganda, or part propaganda, you do not see the full picture, but most threads allow for different viewpoints.) There are also people here who view the Chinese as backward uncivilized people until recently, which completely ignores the very long history of civilization in China.

Then there is an American who married a Chinese man and has two children and who posts about her everyday experiences of living in China. It is all very interesting, from the restrictions on owning a car in cities to the non-profit approach to medical care and inclusion of traditional energy-based tests and remedies ... There is so much positive to gain from a multi-polar world where differences are at least respected and no one bullies anyone else, but it starts with learning how very diverse the world actually is. Countries like India and Brazil and Turkey are positioning themselves to be superpowers in a new multi-polar world and, in my view, we cannot resist domination by resorting to the violent tactics of the British and American empires, among others. Finding out about other cultures is perhaps a good place to start.

From what I hear, David Icke and James Corbett have been the loudest voices warning against the multipolar world order. Both make compelling arguments, but I would say James is more thorough in presenting the evidence.

Cheng told Xi in their meeting that people on both sides of the Strait are Chinese and belong to one family.

The KMT and the CPC should uphold the common political foundation of adhering to the 1992 Consensus and opposing "Taiwan independence," strengthen mutual political trust, preserve Chinese history, promote Chinese culture, and expand exchanges and cooperation across all fields, Cheng said.

She called for efforts to promote the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations, foster a brighter future for ties across the Strait, and advance the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

"I am willing to do anything as long as it helps promote peace across the Strait," Cheng told the press after the meeting with Xi.

That is, of course, something that erodes US economic dominance.

China has ousted foreign interference multiple times, first the Jesuits, then the industrialists, and this Taiwan thing is the last significant apparatus. So the KMT dispute may be a thing that has outlived its significance.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has called on China to take a more prominent role in global affairs, arguing that a stable international order would not be possible without Beijing’s involvement.

Sanchez, on his fourth visit to China in four years, said on Monday that the world was moving towards a multipolar structure and highlighted growing concerns in Europe over the reliability of the United States.

He also expressed interest in strengthening economic ties with China after remarks made by US President Donald Trump about a potential rupture in trade with Spain.

The Spanish premier, who was in Beijing at the invitation of Chinese counterpart Li Qiang, pointed to the importance of expanding “all-round exchanges and cooperation between European nations and China.”
