Initial reports identified the victim as a 27-year-old man, while later updates described her as a 35-year-old former policewoman.

In its statement, Handala challenged Israeli authorities to publicly confirm the identity of the victim, while pointing to the inability of the regime's security services to protect senior figures.

The group also warned that even individuals under the strictest protection of the regime were not immune to its reach.

Pentagon raised threat of Israelis spying on US to highest level

The Pentagon has raised the counter-intelligence threat level to its highest level, amid escalating concerns that the Israeli regime had become more aggressive in its US espionage activities.

In a report, NBC News cited US Department of War sources as saying that the Pentagon is increasingly concerned about Israeli spies ramping up their espionage operations on US officials, advising them to take extra precautionary measures with the Israelis.

According to the report, two US officials and one former official, the Pentagon recently raised the counter-intelligence threat level from America’s closest regional ally to the highest degree.

The sources said the Pentagon’s Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) posted an internal warning message, which one eyewitness had viewed, raising the danger level of the Israeli regime’s agencies spying on the US military to “critical.”

The increased risk level stems from the rising concerns within the War Ministry that the Israeli espionage apparatus is making an added effort to spy on US officials to get information on the Trump administration’s internal deliberations and decision-making processes on the illegal US-Israeli wars in West Asia, the officials said.

According to one of the current US officials cited in the report, a DIA seven-page assessment featured a chart demonstrating the Israelis have the ability to conduct human espionage and technical collection of sensitive data at a “critical level.”

The official said that the assessment also identified a pattern in a series of specific incidents that raises the Americans’ espionage concerns.

The Israeli embassy in Washington, DC, dismissed DIA’s report as “completely false.” Its spokesperson claimed that the Israeli regime’s spies would “not gather intelligence on American ...government officials.”

US Navy intelligence analyst Jonathan Pollard was handed a 30-year prison sentence after he was found spying for the Israeli regime in the 80s. Pollard revealed aspects of the US intelligence gathering process, including its “sources and methods”. In 1995, while imprisoned, he was granted Israeli citizenship. Pollard was released from prison on November 20, 2015.

US officials are often advised to take extra precautionary measures when traveling to the occupied territories, sometimes using burner phones and computers and extreme caution when speaking in hotel rooms during official trips, the current and former US officials and experts said.

The Israeli regime has “a hyper-aggressive intelligence service,” said Emily Harding, vice president of the Defense and Security Department and director of the intelligence, national security and technology program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a think tank in Washington.

“They are exceedingly interested in what we are up to,” Harding said of the Israelis due to Tel Aviv and Washington not being in full agreement about the US-Israeli war on Iran.

This was very immediate, with the whole exchange taking place in about an hour.

US wants to send frozen Iranian assets to Gulf allies – media
Tehran is demanding access to its funds as part of any lasting peace deal with Washington

The Trump administration is seeking to redirect frozen Iranian assets toward rebuilding energy and other infrastructure damaged by Tehran’s retaliatory strikes in Gulf Arab states hosting US military bases, Bloomberg and CBS News have reported.

The Treasury Department plans to use “all available authorities” to make Iranian assets accessible for rebuilding and repair efforts linked to any future damage caused by Iran, CBS reported on Saturday, citing a source familiar with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s thinking.

Bloomberg reported that Bessent has directed Treasury officials to assess conditions among US allies in the Persian Gulf and request comprehensive estimates for damage inflicted since the start of the conflict. The outlet said the department will also consider whether Iranian assets could be used to cover “past damage,” blamed on Iran-backed groups.

The initiative comes as indirect talks between Washington and Tehran have stalled over Iran’s demand for access to frozen funds. Mohsen Rezaei, a military adviser to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, said on Friday that a deal hinges on the release of $24 billion in Iranian assets.

“This is our own money, not America’s money,” Rezaei told CNN, calling the demand a test of trust for US President Donald Trump.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi told Mehr News Agency that Tehran wants at least $12 billion released immediately upon the signing of any memorandum of understanding with the US, while the remainder should be released within “not more than one or two months.”

Since the US and Israel launched their attack on Iran on February 28, the sides have largedly refrained from directly targeting oil and gas infrastructure. However, in mid-March Israel hit the world’s largest natural gas field in South Pars, knocking out 12% of Iran’s gas production.

Tehran declared that energy infrastructure in Gulf Arab states hosting US forces had become “direct and legitimate targets.” Energy facilities in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Bahrain have all sustained damage in tit-for-tat strikes, before a Pakistan-brokered ceasefire took effect in April.

Washington reportedly promised to unblock some Iranian assets to bring Tehran to the negotiating table in Islamabad, although it publicly rejected the demand as unacceptable. President Donald Trump has repeatedly criticized his predecessor Barack Obama for allegedly sending Iran billions of dollars in “pallets of cash” under the 2015 nuclear deal, which Trump unilaterally withdrew from during his first term.

Hospitals declare emergency, move operations underground

Israeli hospitals declared emergency status and began transferring operations to fortified underground facilities, Israeli media reported.

Soroka Medical Center in the Negev region of occupied southern Palestine said it would limit activities to emergency and urgent cases only, reducing other medical services, according to reports.

Hospitals in Safed and Nahariya in the northern occupied territories declared states of emergency, with various medical departments moved to underground and reinforced facilities to prepare for crisis conditions.

Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv also announced it would transfer its departments to underground rooms and spaces resistant to missile attacks, while maintaining emergency admissions.

Israeli authorities have converted underground parking garages into hospital facilities for critical conditions.

‘Iran is a superpower in missiles’

Brigadier General Zvika Haimovich, former commander of Israel’s air defense system, warned that Iran’s military capabilities have been underestimated.

“In the world of rocketry and new aerial threats, the Iranians are a superpower,” Haimovich said in an interview with 103FM radio, according to Israeli news site JFeed.

“Iran has not disappeared from the map; their threat and their desires remain in effect. We hit their capabilities significantly in recent months, but it’s never down to zero,” he said.
