...just now, Houthi missiles have hit Abha International Airport and King Khalid Air Base in Saudi Arabia.

Unsurprising...this "thing" is of course an age-old Saudi blockade that no one will do anything about. Except the Yemenis themselves.

For this reason, I, at least, have followed the convention of dropping the term "Houthi" as if meaning a follower of some rebel, and simply refer to it as "Yemen", de-legitimizing the Saudi-backed "other" government which has little visible function. Taking retaliatory forces to be the actual Yemen, it is capable of striking Arabia and Israel, and, of course, stopping Red Sea traffic.

Security is for everyone or no one.

Plus the 20% tariff as a blatant act of stealing! The Trump administration are tying themselves up in an astonishing number of knots trying to justify taking control of the Strait. Unfortunately, there are a lot of stupid and brainwashed people in the world who believe this absurdity, and sadly a lot of them are in the US.

I'm not sure why anyone thinks trying to use that stuff is a valid idea.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said they set ablaze the main U.S. logistics and support centre for West Asia at Mina Abdullah in Kuwait on Wednesday, the 4th wave of "Operation Nasr 2" retaliation for American attacks.

The IRGC said the KJL facility, the primary logistics and supply hub for U.S. forces across West Asia, was struck and burned under "Operation Nasr 2."

The Guards said U.S. forces had launched cruise missiles and dropped bombs on coastal bases and other points in southern Iranian provinces on Tuesday night.

"On a night when no ship dared to violate orders or cooperate with America, and there were therefore no ship strikes, the enemy struck our coastal bases and points in southern provinces with cruise missiles and fighter bombs to hide its defeat and impotence," the IRGC statement said.

The Guards said their "mighty fighters punished and suppressed the aggressors with crushing responses," and that the strait will remain closed "until the end of American mischief."

The statement concluded with a warning on regional energy: "The export of oil and gas from the region is either for everyone or for no one."

Saudi Arabia seeks mediation because Yemen has threatened/blockaded all the airports in Saudi Arabia.

Sana’a authorities renewed warnings to civilian airlines over flying through Saudi airspace, signaling a potential expansion of attacks unless restrictions on Sana’a International Airport are lifted. Officials affirmed their intent to close the Kingdom’s airports if the Saudi blockade continues, demanding the full resumption of commercial flights “without obstruction,” Al-Akhbar’s Rashid Haddad wrote.

In response, Riyadh has turned to mediation efforts led by Oman and Qatar to contain the escalation. Informed political sources told Al-Akhbar that Saudi Arabia conveyed to mediators it was not responsible for the recent strike on Sana’a airport, attributing it instead to the Aden government aligned with the Kingdom in Yemen.

However, a Yemeni military source rejected that account, stating: “Sana’a forces have identified the type of missiles used in the Monday attack … The aircraft that carried out the strike on Sana’a International Airport was Saudi, and the missiles used were British-made Storm Shadow tactical missiles… exclusively possessed by Saudi forces.”

Escalation Threats

With Abha International Airport still closed following recent strikes, Ansarullah revolutionary group’s military media published a new “target map” covering all Saudi airports, underscoring what observers see as a readiness to expand operations despite diplomatic efforts.

Amid fears of further escalation, Saudi Arabia has pushed UN envoy Hans Grundberg to intensify efforts. Grundberg met with Sana’a’s chief negotiator, Head of the Yemeni National Delegation Mohammad Abdul Salam and Omani officials, focusing on de-escalation and preserving the fragile calm in place since the April 2022 truce, according to Al-Akhbar report

While details of the UN proposal remain unclear, discussions are believed to include humanitarian measures such as salary payments, reopening roads, lifting air restrictions, and prisoner exchanges.

Sources in Sana’a, however, stressed that pressure on the ground remains key. “Military operations against the Kingdom are the only guarantee for the implementation of any agreement,” one source told the Lebanese daily, suggesting Saudi calls for mediation aim to avoid further strikes and delay resolving contentious issues.

They call it 15 days of convenience and are now selling oil through the established channels. Iran can actually work around the Strait. Maybe not at full capacity, but it works.

Recent targeting is somewhat repetitive, now counting seven waves of Nasr-2, including something called "Virginia Base". I certainly am not familiar with all the specific names of these installations, but Kuwait and Bahrain are really small, it's hard to hide much.

Jordan is incredibly complicit in the renewed aggression.

The statement added that the Islamic Ummah expects the Jordanian people, who have witnessed American and Israeli crimes against Palestinians more than any other nation, to "seize every opportunity to destroy American institutions and expel the occupying American army from Jordan."

The actions of Israel are nearly unprintable. Not much has been done to them in a couple of weeks, so they freely spray white phosphorous on anybody. However, all of their ground units are attrited, meaning a brigade is not a brigade, but something with that name and far fewer staff and tanks than it is supposed to have.
