India raised import duties on gold and silver from 6% to 15% just days after Prime Minister Modi personally asked citizens to stop buying gold. On the surface, it looks like a decisive policy response. But underneath it reveals something far more significant about the state of India's currency, its trade deficit, and what $3.8 trillion in household gold actually represents.

    The Kobeissi Letter

Japan is exporting gold at a record pace:

Japan’s gold exports surged +35.6% YoY in FY2025, which ended in March 2026, to ~$25.5 billion, the highest since data began in 1988.

The average export price rose +48.7% YoY to a record ~$117,400 per kilogram, driven by surging global gold prices.

At the same time, gold imports surged +120% YoY to ~$1.1 billion, the highest on record.

As a result, Japan exported over 200 metric tonnes more gold than it imported in FY2025, valued at ~$24.4 billion, up +37.9% YoY.

Japan's domestic gold production is too small to account for the scale of export growth, according to the Finance Ministry, which says the figures point to an outflow of previously smuggled gold into the country.

The suspected mechanism is that gold is smuggled into Japan without the standard 10% consumption tax, sold domestically at tax-inclusive prices to generate a profit margin, and then exported overseas.

Unusual gold movements are taking place in Japan

China’s Gold Endgame: How July 24th Begins to Dismantle the West’s Deceptive Price Manipulation of Metals
    07/10/2026 // Mike Adams // 6K Views

Introduction: The Chess Move You Haven’t Heard About
Something historic is about to happen on July 24, 2026, and it has nothing to do with the revaluation of US gold that speculators dreamed about on July 4th. On that day, China’s major banks will complete a quiet but devastating campaign: halting all retail purchases of precious metals on margin. The paper marketplace for gold and silver at the retail level -- the very mechanism Western bullion banks have used for decades to suppress prices -- will cease to exist in China.

This is not a regulatory tweak; it is the opening salvo of a long-planned campaign to destroy Western price manipulation and establish honest price discovery. I believe this single action will shatter the illusion that paper gold controls physical reality. As I previously stated in interviews with Andy Schectman, the end of JP Morgan’s manipulation of gold and silver prices is the only thing protecting the dollar, and once control over price discovery leaves Western banking centers, the entire fiat system cracks [1].

What China Is Actually Doing -- and Why It Matters
The Shanghai Gold Exchange has been methodically raising margin requirements for years, but now they have outlawed leveraged positions for retail investors entirely. This move directly targets Western agents and proxies who have used retail paper markets to artificially suppress gold and silver prices through massive short positions and spoofing tactics. When James Rickards wrote about central bank manipulation techniques in "The New Case for Gold," he explained that manipulation really kicks in when gold is strong and looks like it’s breaking out, with banks dumping physical gold and flooding futures exchanges with paper [2]. China is now pulling the rug out from under that very system.

By forcing all retail trading to be backed by physical delivery, China eliminates the main tool of manipulation: unbacked paper contracts that create infinite synthetic supply. The globalist-controlled paper market, which suppressed silver prices below $50 for nine years, has already shown cracks -- as revealed in "The Silver Coup," real industrial demand has overwhelmed the manipulative derivatives system run by the COMEX and LBMA [3]. China’s July 24th move accelerates this breakdown, paving the way for real supply-and-demand pricing untainted by Western central bank interference.

The Consequences: Price Discovery, Arbitrage, and a Drain on Western Vaults
When paper manipulation vanishes in Shanghai, physical spot prices there will almost certainly rise above London and COMEX prices -- creating a massive arbitrage opportunity that the machines will exploit greedily. Smart players, including sovereign wealth funds and private vault operators, will take delivery of cheap physical gold in the West and fly it to Hong Kong to sell at the higher price. This will deplete Western vaults at an accelerating rate. The move mirrors what James Turk and John Rubino described in "The Money Bubble": how gold from GLD was looted by bullion banks, shipped to Swiss refiners, turned into kilo bars, and sent directly to Shanghai or Hong Kong [4]. Now the flow reverses -- only this time, the West is being stripped of metal.

Hong Kong is already expanding its vault capacity to handle 2,000 tons of gold by 2029, signaling that China expects a flood of metal its way. Meanwhile, as reported by Andrew Moran in The Epoch Times, China’s central bank keeps buying gold while dumping US debt, with Michael Howell of CrossBorder Capital stating that China’s ferocious appetite for gold is what will keep driving metal prices higher [5]. The arbitrage drain is not a possibility; it is an inevitability.

The Bigger Picture: China’s Long Game to Topple the Dollar
China has been quietly accumulating gold for years -- officially 2,346 tons, but likely more than 20,000 tons when including covert purchases through state-owned enterprises and military channels. James Rickards documented that China purchases gold through stealth, using covert operations and military assets to avoid the price impact of transparent market purchases [2]. This massive hoard positions Beijing to back a new international settlement currency, exactly the kind of system described in the BrightLearn book "The Silent Shift: China's Quiet Ascendancy and the End of American Dominance" [6]. By first buying gold at artificially low Western prices and then allowing its value to rise naturally through honest price discovery, China will have the ammunition to support a BRICS-based trade system that bypasses the dollar entirely.

This is a genius long-term strategy: end paper manipulation, let gold find its real price, and then use that value to create a gold-backed settlement system that makes US sanctions and dollar weaponization obsolete. As Pepe Escobar outlined in his analysis of the petro-gold road, the 15-point plan presented to Iran is already dead, and the multipolar financial system is rising with gold at its core [7]. The July 24th move is the trigger for a new global monetary order where the dollar no longer rules.

What This Means for Gold and Silver Holders -- and the US Treasury
Whoever holds physical gold and silver right now is likely to see the dollar value rise dramatically as China’s plan unfolds. The US Treasury may even be waiting for gold to hit $8,000 an ounce before revaluing its gold at $42.22, freeing up trillions to support the bond market. This is not speculation; as Chris Martenson noted in a Peak Prosperity podcast, the European Central Bank now warns that demand for physical gold could threaten the Eurozone's financial stability in times of geopolitical stress [8]. The same dynamic applies to the US.

In my view, paper gold, ETFs, and all forms of counterparty risk are dangerous -- physical metal in your own hands or vaulted in your name is the only honest store of value. As the U.S. Mint raised the price of one-ounce silver coins by 85% anticipating silver could soon exceed $100 per ounce [9], the manipulation that held prices down is crumbling. Prepare for the revaluation of a lifetime.

Conclusion: The End of Paper Manipulation Begins
July 24th will be remembered as the day the Western financial establishment lost its grip on gold and silver prices. China has played a 20-year chess game, accumulating metal, building vaults, and now severing the paper market’s ability to suppress prices. The result will be a flood of physical metal from West to East, a skyrocketing dollar price for gold and silver, and the end of the fiat era. Those who hold physical metal will be vindicated; those who trust paper promises will be left holding worthless receipts. The chess move is set -- the board is about to be swept clean.

Interesting...I'm not sure it amounts to ending "paper manipulation" for the world, but, it would probably clean unreal stuff out of part of it.

To review, gold was dictated by Rothschild on the London Gold Fix. Yes it had the participation of four other banks, but, their input was marginal. For the most part, the price was created by one source.

They sold their seat off the board around 2004, indicating, in their view, that physical and its price were no longer important, and that, in fact, paper was the true realm of high finance. There were some forms of non-existent transactions prior to this, but, after that, they ballooned, and most of the world's value is not exactly "in the bank" like cash could be, but, somewhere in a contract or deal about...things that can be hard to identify.

My sense is it is being shifted into data centers as the tangible asset, but, asset of what? These are electricity hogs that produce nothing.

Anything beyond the most basic kind of stocks and responsible investment is, at best, gambling, and difficult to justify in the eyes of anyone who's not reaping the benefit, which is not very many people whatsoever.

THE GOLD-OIL CORRELATION IS STILL A TRADE — AND THE BREAK IS THE REAL TRADE

I watch the gold and oil charts every day for one reason: to see whether the algorithms still treat rising oil as pure bad news for gold.

    Right now they do.
Oil climbs → US yields climb → real rates tighten → gold gets sold.
It is mechanical - algorithmic. It is a trade, not a fundamental relationship.

My assessment: this linkage is temporary and increasingly fragile.

We caught the first real glimpses of it in the last FOMC meeting. The language, the projections, the body language — none of it projected the iron discipline of a central bank still in control. It projected a central bank that is already negotiating with inflation rather than declaring war on it.
➡️ When markets start pricing the Fed as constrained, yield spikes stop being a gold negative.
➡️ They become confirmation that inflation is entrenched.
➡️ Gold then trades as the only asset that benefits from both higher nominal rates and higher inflation expectations at the same time.

GOLD IS SILENTLY REPLACING US TREASURIES AS GLOBAL COLLATERAL

Something bigger than anything seen in over 50 years is unfolding in the global financial system right now. Almost nobody is talking about it. Gold is no longer just being bought by central banks. It is actively returning as the preferred collateral across private citizens, companies, and governments, beginning to displace US Treasuries from the core of the system.

THE CORE THESIS: GOLD RECLAIMS ITS ROLE AS TRUST
➡️ Collateral exists to replace trust. In the repo markets that keep the entire financial machine running, government bonds still make up the vast majority of that collateral.
➡️ US Treasuries alone account for roughly two-thirds of global bond collateral.
➡️ When trust in those bonds erodes, the demand for them as collateral shrinks. That is exactly what is starting to happen.

    PRIVATE CITIZENS ARE ALREADY MOVING
➡️ In India, gold-backed loans grew seven times faster than ordinary consumer credit over the past year.
➡️ Vietnam’s central bank is preparing gold certificates so citizens can turn privately held gold into usable financial instruments.
➡️ Tether’s gold tokens can now be used as collateral for loans on crypto platforms, and a physical-gold-backed credit card is launching specifically for emerging markets.

    THE EMERGING-MARKET BREAKTHROUGH
➡️ Juan Sartori of Tether Gold put it plainly: “Our top goal is to offer people in collapsing financial systems a financial alternative.”
➡️ For hundreds of millions who fear their local currency or even their dollar accounts can be forcibly converted overnight, a gold-backed card that lets them spend without losing purchasing power is a game-changer.
➡️ Similar tokenized gold products are already expanding across Asia.

COMPANIES AND GOVERNMENTS JOIN THE SHIFT
➡️ Commercial Bank of Dubai just launched a gold medal loan product that lets businesses borrow and lend directly in physical ounces.
➡️ Hong Kong has centralized its gold clearing to pull price discovery and yuan-denominated trading closer to China.
➡️ Dubai introduced a physical gold contract settled in dirhams. Singapore is building gold storage for foreign central banks so the metal can serve as trusted collateral.

    THE BOTTOM LINE
Gold is being remonetized from the bottom up and the top down at the same time. The process is quiet, technical, and still invisible to most investors. Those who understand that collateral is the real battleground already see where the next decade of demand is coming from.
This is how money quietly changes.

That is, of course, one of the main things we were talking about.

It's why Treasury yields are sky high, but, that doesn't mean any buyers.

That means -- at least since we saw the trend develop -- the United States will do something violent. It's how you get the cash. Steal it, or, show off the prowess of your war machine and cash will come flying in like magic. Maduro met this qualification. But it didn't work.

Those new loans not only have to keep pace with inflation, they have to expand to match the ravening appetite of the war machine.

They come due and you have to pay or your credit rating dies.

If you don't get new loans, how you gonna pay? You don't have any cash.

The fact that people in India like to personally have gold, doesn't have much to do with the Treasuries con; it just attests to stable and lasting value. The important thing is to undermine the dollar dominance; that seems to be happening.
