    From TheChinaShow's latest video at:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xheghLpSRw4&t=1605s:
Transcript (starting at 43 minutes into the video):
"This is a a very good quote from Ken Tao. Yeah, I thought this is great and I thought I'd just read this for you guys.
It says, "China's infrastructure obsession helped turn a Himalayan hazard into a catastrophe for Nepal.
China spent years carving highways and tunnels through one of the Earth's most fragile mountain systems.
This means blasting rock, cutting slopes, removing vegetation, and redirecting drainage.
All activities known to increase landslide risks when poorly managed.
So, when a colossal mass of ice, rock, and mud suddenly collapses near an intensively developed Chinese border corridor, asking whether Chinese construction contributed to this tragedy is elementary risk analysis.
The glacial collapse may have been the immediate trigger, but China cannot claim every successful project as proof of the Communist Party's greatness.
...Then blame heaven whenever the mountain falls down.
Nepal deserves an independent investigation into Chinese blasting, slope modification, drainage disruption, and environmental oversight.
And Nepal is calling for that.
Nepalese citizens and journalists are calling for that.
China exported its infrastructure model across the Himalayas and in the meantime have exported the deadly consequences to neighboring nations like Nepal. "

I think the name of that source is probably Ken Cao (not Tao) and this is from his site on X:

    "Ken Cao-The China Crash Chronicle
    @KenCao_onChina
6 Damning Reasons China Cannot Escape Responsibility for Nepal’s Catastrophic Floods

    1. China received the first warning. The flood struck Gyirong on the Tibetan side, 45 minutes before reaching downstream communities in Nepal. That was plenty of time to take measures to warn the neighboring nations.

    2. No effective warning reached Nepal. In a disaster moving across borders, even minutes could have saved lives. And China had 45 minutes to do it, which is the difference between evacuation and mass death.

    3. China initially blamed an earthquake. The USGS later concluded that the seismic signal came from the massive glacier and debris collapse itself.

    4. China is transforming the region. Highways, railways, dams and settlements are being forced through one of Earth’s most fragile and seismically active mountain systems.

    5. Chinese scientists warned Beijing. They identified unstable slopes, weak geological cohesion and the danger of cascading failures. yet construction continued.

    6. China buried the scale: Chinese reporting initially emphasized only a handful of confirmed deaths even as hundreds remained missing in Tibet and devastation was clearly visible across the border region. China tried to cover up the incident the way it covered up Covid 19 in November 2019 by censoring information online.

China must disclose its monitoring data, warning timeline and environmental assessments and explain whether its infrastructure intensified the destruction, instead of posting propaganda videos of PLA solders arriving late onto the scene.

Nepal deserves evidence, transparency and accountability. The Himalayas do not recognize political borders. But responsibility cannot disappear behind one."

Default Re: What's happening in China?

The Kailash yatra has always been considered "the most arduous" amongst all known pilgrimages of the Old World.

Many people then before today's modern transportation walked 60 days through snow and mountain passes to reach there , it required extraordinary physical and mental prowess and only people blessed with "exceptionally good qualities" were chosen to undertake the trek.
No one has survived this particular journey without supplies and special clothing , according to guides and direct witnesses of previous centuries.
The high passes we see in naked eye the first time of human history ( check photos on Google Maps for latest views ) were covered by several meters of snow that has only partially melted during summer.
There were no roads, tea shops or ways to resupply save for small border villages and monasteries.

People passed away regularly or "did not return" from the Kailash yatra which was considered great blessing and they would be liberated from the cycle of life and death.

Many explorers and discoverers attempted to find the land of Zhazhung of Tibetan Bon , Shambhala and similar "higher realms" near to Mt Kailash and sacred lake Mansarovar ( "the lake of the Mind ) and could not find it but they all have witnessed powerful energy fields to encounter,
geometrical rocks , lights and sounds around the mountain that either scared, owed or blessed the pilgrims .

There are still said to be several centuries old yogis living in hidden dwellings around the mountain.

It's the holiest pilgrimage site for people of many faiths. Place so remote, so strange , so difficult to access.

As a tragedy of life most of the pilgrims seemed to be devoted and knowledgeable people who dreamt of this place for many of their lives.

They have invested most of their savings to this journey and parted with their relatives

I've heard some sherpas discussing the pilgrimage before 1999 and they attested that the trek is almost as difficult as climbing Mt Everest because it's long and arduous ascent in high elevation and it requires lots of breathing, pushing , against the gravity ,
they all say bodies feel exceptionally heavy once around the mountain and it isn't really customary to touch it but people still always do that and then,
there always were some bad stories about people with "bad karma" who turned paralysed by the cold and turn to rock and other people who 7 days after return got hit by mysterious illness and died .

And of course these natural disasters, floods and earthquakes historically always happened , no matter what scripture of old you happen to read it's in the records and almanacs.

Realise the landscape as we see it now was not always there ?

Perhaps it's like dunes, if we return after 10 000 years ,

the deserts would be known as seas and rivers would have changed their riverbeds since and several mountains may have perished and so forth.

The Earth is moving , not only in space also deep within , the whole atmospheric bubble increases its dynamics , with growing kinetic energy and decreasing balance the chance of "events" rises spontaneously.

I'm aware of how much bad weather has affected the planet this year alone with huge wildfires in Spain, California etc . , we see some correlation with the expansive military conflicts using heavy weaponry at several places of the Planet increasing temperature even more rapidly , oil refineries burning , chemical factories spilling deadly gases and their "black crude oil"
is really bad for health on touch.

Dear pilgrim, survivor, reader , you choose .. in the time of calamity of hot and cold hells

    choose the guide within.

We all are watching this with shock and awe.

There was true meaning to "mountain guides" in the times of old as most of the passes were covered by several meters of snow and the path was not known and maps were few,
some very obscure preserved for generations .
The complexity of Himalayan valleys is wrinkled , folded tightly , can not always be drawn on maps, it provides challenge even to satellite navigation systems .

It's clearly visible in most photos and measurements of now that most of the terrain is dry , barren and glacier mass is massively receding .

The Gangotri glacier has melted in length of 14 kilometres ( 10 miles ) at altitude of 4500 m/s since Vedic times ( historically recorded in various Puranas refering to the foundation of Gangotri temple at about 4000 BC according to founding stone inscriptions ).

Most North Indian lakes including high Himalayan ice lakes shrank in volume to maybe 1/10th since 4000 BC.

Especially during the last century most natural lakes are not bigger than your swimming pool, including the famous Dal Lake in Kashmir, Srinagar that used to be vast and hosted many living houseboats in traditional wooden architectures and designs inlaid with handwoven carpets .

The southern side of Himalayas is very heated, dry and damaged by over building, traffic of last two decades , mining of wood and exposed to heavy monsoon torrents taking down large swaths of land .

From the Northern side we may foresee lots of water coming down on us in future.

For the international observer , i better be very straightforward but I would consider any sort of conflict between India and China true humanitarian disaster that unlike natural disasters can be avoided ,
in favor of peace and prosperity of all people , with respect to their holy sites and shrines,
monasteries and places of peace , demilitarised zones where safety of all travellers is assured with respect to all Himalayan languages and cultures. .

As we have seen in the Galwan valley 5 years ago, a war even a brawl is impossibly dangerous and cruel at 5000 m/sea level . At all normal times, the fellows up there see each other as brothers and sisters ready to assist each other in emergencies.

    May Peace Prevail

China has stripped former PLA Western Theatre Command chief Zhao Zongqi of his top political posts. Zhao commanded PLA forces during the 2017 Doklam and 2020 Galwan clashes against India. His removal is part of Xi Jinping's military purge, which has seen 101 senior PLA officers dismissed or disappear.

China has removed General Zhao Zongqi, who headed the Western Theatre Command of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) during the 2017 Doklam standoff and the 2020 Galwan Valley clash with India, from the country's top political advisory body. It was later reported that Zhao authorised the Galwan operation to "teach India a lesson".

It is the PLA's Western Command that controls Chinese military operations across Tibet and Xinjiang and along much of China's border with India.

Thank you 🙏 I think it's very important to the Himalayan ecosystem that is unique in its diversity and people of all cultures inhabiting this ecosystem for thousands of years to cultivate unique mountain spirit of universal assistance to those in need and respect to Life in all living beings .

Maintaining peace and harmony without the use of force and weapons could help us to build "Shambhala of the future",
all with well marked paths, walking only zones, prohibit the storage of explosives and weapons,
people of many nations could learn and benefit .

Earthquake Activity Spreading -- Equal spread across planet -- Seismic Unrest Due

(The Indo-Australian plate boundary is shifting all along the pathway through the subduction zone where the Nepal landslide occurred, and there has been a lot of activity in that area which Dutch's map clearly shows.
He makes no claim that it was an earthquake that caused the event, but he does point out how unstable that area is, in the first 10 minutes of the video.
All the more reason for the CCP to cease their very hazardous construction there!)

"An equal spread of activity is now taking place, leading to new watches for areas, and the fulfillment of several of the locations being hit.
Areas still left to be struck from this past week: New Zealand, and Pacific Northwest USA (off the coast of Vancouver)."

(Coverage of the China-Nepal disaster begins at 41 minutes into the video ("Soft Power Hour").
To the uninitiated, some of the videos of PLA members doing "rescue" work at the scene may seem nonsensical, but there is an explanation starting at 57 minutes which the hosts provide.
In any case, "a picture is worth a thousand words", and visual proof is always more informative than a mere report.
The hosts of this show DO check to make sure the videos they show are authentic and accurate.
And because they still have connections with Chinese people within China from their years living there, they often feature videos you won't see on MSM channels.
At 21 minutes in, footage of the latest flooding. )

I thought the recent decision for Xi Jinping to visit Trump here in the US this month was an interesting development. But, it seems it's just one of many curious developments happening in the political arena of China.

One especially stands out... @ 28:52, Putin directly meeting and negotiating with an official rumored to be a potential successor to Xi in the upcoming Oct Chinese political meetings.

Did Beijing Just Reach a Deal Over Xi Jinping’s Future?

I don't think there is anyone else out there like Lei. Her capacity to analyze the cutural/political developments is top notch. Lots of nuance, but also, historical context.

Not only is the ground shifting in that part of the world, but so is political leadership running China.

Andrew Korybko usually talks about the Ukraine, Russia, Poland, but one of his recent substacks, in the last paragraph, he noted a tidbit on China.

I'm noting it here, as we continue to watch what's happening in China.

Lavrov Shared Some Interesting Tidbits About Russian Policy In His Recent Interview

Quote In sum, the most interesting tidbits that Lavrov shared about Russian foreign policy arguably concern its expectation of a “crisis of overproduction” in China, his hint about what Russia compromised on at Anchorage, its opposition to Hormuz tolls, and his critique of Russian soft power.

(The nightmare of flooding in China this rainy season goes on and on...)

"The situation in Putian is even more severe. Two major reservoirs, Dongzhen Reservoir and Jinzhong Reservoir, opened their floodgates to release water. Among the ten largest reservoirs in Putian, six are located in Xianyou County. Flood releases from multiple reservoirs and hydropower stations caused water levels in Mulan Creek, known as the “mother river” of Putian, and its tributaries to rise sharply. Videos circulating online showed that a section of the Mulan Creek embankment in Huating collapsed, with floodwaters destroying homes and the historic Jinfeng Ancient Bridge."

"The tallest bridge on Earth just opened in China. The province that built it is drowning in debt.

Guizhou has thrown more than 32,000 bridges across its mountains, including nearly half of the hundred highest bridges on the planet. The newest one hangs 625 meters over a canyon and cost about 280 million dollars. It's a real engineering marvel. It's also the crown on one of the biggest debt problems on Earth, and the families who live there are the ones quietly paying for it.

In this one I get into how they hung 22,000 tons of steel over a gorge with no crane big enough to reach it, why the tolls will almost certainly never cover the bill, the tiny county that borrowed forty years of its income to build a fake Big Ben, and the strange thing that's been keeping the whole province afloat.

The bridges are real. So is the debt. This is the story of both."

This is the full story of how it works, why nobody could build it until now, the 1950 disaster that shows what this ground can do, and why India and Bangladesh are terrified of what happens when the water stops carrying the mud their farms depend on."

Some good news out of this car race crash in China.

I’d seen the David-On-China vid, where he says that track safety took 15 minutes to arrive on scene. Good post, Natalie.

This interview of the Dutch driver Loek Hartog who stopped and rendered aid, is a window into differences in culture, imo.
