He then examines the failure of the postwar liberal system. The United States rebuilt Europe and Japan, opened its markets, and funded a worldwide military presence, only to see American manufacturing decline as globalization, corporate power, national debt, and neoliberal finance expanded.

China’s Belt and Road Initiative offers another model, but Mike argues that it adapts the same old imperial methods. Using Sri Lanka’s Hambantota port as an example, he examines how Chinese loans, long-term leases, manufacturing dominance, and transshipment networks advance China’s interests without creating genuine national development.

At the center of the discussion is the American System: sovereign nations cooperating on energy, infrastructure, industry, and scientific progress for their mutual benefit. Mike argues that Venezuela could become President Trump’s test case for replacing zero-growth globalization with a new era of industrial development.

Trump’s Venezuela strategy is therefore much bigger than oil. It could offer a model for rebuilding nations, strengthening American energy security, reviving domestic industry, and creating economic growth without British imperialism, neoliberal globalization, or communist control.

WASHINGTON — President Trump is spending Labor Day flooding his Truth Social account with AI-generated images about conquering both the Earth and outer space alike.

Trump on Monday posted a map of North America, where both Canada and Mexico are annexed to the United States — and shaded in stars and stripes.

He dropped several posts suggesting the state of New Mexico be renamed “New America.” The posts carried various maps bearing the new name.

In another, Trump claimed the moon for the United States.

The president dropped about 40 posts over a 10-hour period on Sunday before taking it up again on Monday, keeping a steady stream of AI propaganda that hit a variety of topics.

Trump declaring himself the best leader ever was another theme.

He shared a ranking of US presidents, listing himself at the top as the “Greatest,” above “greats” Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson.

An AI-generated image post shows the back of what appears to be President Obama facing a mirror showing Donald Trump reflected back. The caption reads: “Mirror, Mirror on the wall. Who’s the greatest president of them all?”

Another image shows Trump arm wrestling Hulk Hogan, the late WWE star.

Many of the images portray Trump as larger than life – one shows him towering over a command console on a rocket ship captioned “Space Force,” while another shows him sitting on some type of large, dark stone chair (reminiscent of the Death Star of Star Wars) with the caption: “Give them nightmares.”

The images also reflect current events, including Washington’s trade war with Canada.

Surprising it didn't go as far south as Venezuela. But including Iceland is so much of a stretch! So, why not include all of Europe!

Iceland’s foreign minister summoned the US ambassador after President Donald Trump shared a map depicting Iceland and several other territories under the American flag, local media reported Tuesday.
Foreign Minister Thorgerdur Katrin Gunnarsdottir summoned US Ambassador Billy Long to a meeting over the image posted by Trump on his Truth Social platform, according to Icelandic public broadcaster RUV.
“It was made clear at the meeting that the post was entirely inappropriate,” the Icelandic Foreign Ministry said.

US Central Command has confirmed that it destroyed eight Iranian crude carriers in two recent operations – three on September 5 and another five on Tuesday – after accusing the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of firing ballistic missiles at US warships.

US President Donald Trump has promised a $5,000 “dividend” to every adult American if Republicans retain control of both houses of Congress in November’s midterm elections.

Speaking at the Republican Party’s first-ever midterm convention in Dallas on Wednesday, Trump argued that the US economy and revenues generated by his tariff policies would allow Washington to make direct payments to citizens.

“If the Republicans win, you win with us and you get $5,000,” Trump told the cheering crowd. “It will be called the Trump Dividend.”

“The only caveat I have is that the dividend that we’re making must be spent in the United States of America,” he ⁠added.

The president did not explain how the payout would be implemented or funded. At $5,000 per adult, the plan could cost well over $1 trillion.

Trump repeatedly boasted about the amount of money flowing into the US as a result of tariffs and foreign investment. His administration previously claimed that more than $20 trillion in new investment is coming into the country, while Treasury officials have projected annual tariff revenues potentially reaching hundreds of billions of dollars.

The president also touted his administration’s recent oil agreement with Venezuela, which gives the US majority control over more than 65 billion barrels of proven reserves, before joking about how easy it was to find oil in the South American country.

You know the way Exxon and Chevron... they spend millions and millions for equipment, they go all over the world looking, they can’t find it,” Trump said. “In Venezuela, you look on the ground and you see ground that’s soaking wet with oil, and you say, ‘Let’s build our rig right there.’”

Trump also joked about renaming the Strait of Hormuz after himself while discussing the ongoing US-Israeli war with Iran.

“We should call the Hormuz Strait the Trump Strait! I should get something out of it. The Trump Strait!” he said. “I’m sure the Iranian leadership will be thrilled with that!”

The president reiterated his prediction that the conflict with Iran will end and oil prices will fall after the US midterm election, tying his foreign-policy and energy message back to the vote in November.

“In 55 days, Americans will be going to the polls in one of the most important elections in our country’s history,” he said.

“When I’m on the ticket, Republicans always do well,” Trump added. “I’m asking you to pretend I’m on the ballot… Just one more time.”

The two-day Dallas convention, conceived by Trump as a campaign showcase ahead of the midterms, is the first such gathering ever held by the Republican Party outside a presidential election year. Trump is scheduled to return on Thursday to deliver closing remarks.
