A landmark day today. (Or a milestone!)

What happened yesterday has (kind of!) changed my life.

For years my internet, where I live tucked away in a very rural green valley, had been via WiFi bounced off several poles on the hillside. They were vulnerable to rain — and lightning strikes. And it was always pretty slow and intermittent.

10 days ago a lightning storm broke the whole thing, and when the tech guys tried to effect a repair my speed was like this: (sometimes it was just a little better, but this was unsustainable)




So I waved the white flag and went to a fiber-optic provider. They came yesterday (complete with a big handsaw to remove tree branches in the way of the new cable) and now my speed is like this: (and I opted for their slowest, cheapest program)



It's a transformative experience for me to actually click on a link and see it open in microseconds!

Years ago during university, my father bought me a wonderful car. She was my favorite thing for so many years, zooming along across more than 350,000 miles and yet she still kept going... then a couple of years ago, my husband decided to sell her for lack of space. No other reason. I actually cried and have regretted it since... she was the only thing I had that represented everything from teen years on. All the memories, adventures, travels and travails.

I often take a tiny bit of delight in reminding him that she was the best vehicle I will ever own.

Two days ago, we got a letter in the mail...saying she had been parked at a storage lot a month ago and no one ever came back for her. She had never been registered or licensed after purchase. She's still mine. So, she's coming back home!!

Funny how things happen...
