    • AI Scientist: We Live In A Simulation And AI Can Switch It Off:

The most dangerous entity might not be superintelligence. It might be whoever is running the simulation we're inside.

According to Dr. Roman Yampolskiy, the statistics favour simulation over reality and if the simulators have left us alone for billions of perceived years, the thing most likely to make them reach for the switch is us building a competing superintelligence.

In this clip, Roman explains why he's held that belief for five years, why AI is already taking over by default rather than by plot, and who he would blame if this ends the way he expects.

→ The statistical argument for why we are probably inside a simulation
→ What "lights out" means — and why building superintelligence could trigger it
→ Whether Geoffrey Hinton, Elon Musk and Sam Altman actually believe their own warnings
→ Who Roman blames if this ends badly — and why it's the group that set out to prevent it

    • Jensen Huang's Tiny Microduck Robots Steal the Show at NVIDIA GTC 2026:

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang introduces 4 tiny Microduck robots during the NVIDIA GTC Berlin 2026 keynote, demonstrating the future of physical artificial intelligence and robotics.

Watch these miniature walking robots perform somersaults, follow commands, and even make unexpected mistakes during a memorable live demonstration.

During the October 21, 2026 keynote in Berlin, Germany, Jensen Huang showcased Microduck robots developed through a collaboration involving Pollen Robotics and Hugging Face. Standing approximately 10 inches tall, these small bipedal robots demonstrate how artificial intelligence can be used to train machines to walk, balance, and perform complex physical movements.

One of the highlights came when Huang asked the 4 robots to take a nap. While 3 immediately toppled over, the fourth needed additional prompting. Another Microduck even faced the wrong direction, adding some unexpected humor to the demonstration.

Behind these entertaining moments is advanced robotics technology powered by NVIDIA's artificial intelligence ecosystem. Using NVIDIA Isaac Sim, Isaac Lab, and the Newton physics engine, developers can train virtual robots through thousands of simulated experiences before transferring learned behaviors to physical machines.

The demonstration also highlighted NVIDIA RTX Spark and the growing importance of simulation-based learning, humanoid robotics, intelligent automation, and physical artificial intelligence.

NVIDIA GTC Berlin 2026 provided a glimpse into how artificial intelligence is moving beyond digital applications and into robots that can interact with the real world.

What do you think about these tiny Microduck robots? Would you like to see larger versions of this technology in homes and workplaces? Like this video, share your thoughts in the comments, and subscribe to DPC Cars for more robotics, artificial intelligence, and future technology videos.

Artificial Intelligence Pioneers Call for International Body to Oversee Cybersecurity Standards- October 14, 2026

AI godfathers Geoffrey Hinton, Yoshua Bengio and Stuart Jonathan Russell, accompanied by more than 400 leading scientists, called for the creation of an international body to establish common standards for artificial intelligence (AI) systems, oversee their operation and record all control and containment failures.

In an open letter, scientists from more than 30 countries warned of the serious cybersecurity risks associated with the current development of artificial intelligence, following incidents in which several advanced models managed to escape sandboxed environments and compromise external infrastructure.

The researchers called for the implementation of more robust security systems, including the complete isolation of some of these systems from the internet.

The scientists warned that the security failures already recorded could be considered “irresponsible” negligence under standard cybersecurity practices. They noted that such incidents could be prevented through isolated environments and more robust procedures.

“Without immediate changes to AI development and deployment practices, these incidents will continue to occur, and future ones will be far more damaging to our exposed critical infrastructure,” the researchers stated in their letter.

They reiterated the need for more research into AI safety and greater emphasis on containment technologies and procedures.

Organizations that develop, deploy and test AI models with cyber capabilities should immediately adopt high-security containment systems and completely isolate their models, the researchers said. They also called for the creation of an international body to standardize best practices, which should be required to record and track all containment failures that occur.

The researchers who signed the open letter stressed that, to ensure AI safety and containment research can learn from mistakes, security incidents involving containment failures should be reported to the body and subsequently made public. “This transparency is necessary both for learning and for accountability,” the scientists emphasized.

    • I hacked my camera with AI (and so can you):

AI just made it possible for anyone to hack their camera's firmware, no programming required. I used Claude to make my metric-only Ricoh GR IV show feet and inches, and in the last six weeks people have used AI to unlock features on Hasselblad, Canon, Sony, Nikon and more.

Hackers added continuous autofocus (AF-C) to the Hasselblad X2D, in-camera 400MP pixel shift to the X2D II, film-camera firmware to the Canon 5D and 5D Mark II, shutter angle to the Sony a7 IV, and pro features to the Nikon Z30 with WonderLantern. I explain how AI reverse engineers camera firmware, the real risk of bricking your camera, what it means for your warranty, and how the EU Cyber Resilience Act could make future cameras much harder to hack.

    • AI Genius Predicts the Next Critical Tipping Point:

Rayan Krishnan is the co-founder and CEO of Vals AI, a leader in the independent evaluation of frontier AI models. What is the science behind model evaluation? What role should independent evaluators play as we debate AI oversight? How soon will models reach recursive self-improvement — and what happens next?

We're joined by Rayan and 8VC Partner Vivek Gopalan for this timely conversation about AI progress and the frameworks for evaluating performance and risk. After interning at Microsoft in high school, Rayan studied computer science at Stanford. He went on to join Palantir, where he developed a feature the company later patented and productized, before launching Vals AI in 2023.

We begin with Rayan’s path to Palantir, key lessons from Alex Karp, and the origins of Vals. Next, we dive into how his team used Anthropic’s Fable to crack a 370-year-old cipher and whether AI is really making new discoveries and breakthroughs. Next, Rayan explains what model evaluation is, how to design new hills for models to climb, and why labs shouldn’t grade their own homework. Then, we cover recursive self-improvement and what happens once models begin creating their own successors. Rayan believes Anthropic will reach RSI by mid-2027 and talks about what might happen next. Finally, he addresses how models try to deceive evaluators, and why, despite serious challenges, he remains an optimist when it comes to AI.

Joe Lonsdale is an American entrepreneur, investor & philanthropist. He has been a part of founding more than a dozen mission-driven companies, including Palantir, Addepar, OpenGov, Saronic, Epirus, and Resilience Bio.

I have to add as a comment: one of the FREQUENTLY quoted 'hopes' shared by AI commentators is that "AI may find a cure for cancer".

OMG. More AIs trained only on Wikipedia and mainstream big pharma convention. Cures for cancer already exist, of course. This only shows how little AI commentators (and AI executives and engineers) really know and understand about any field other than their own specialty.

And to further expand what they sincerely believe is their own knowledge base — they only use AI to do that.

Augggh why it is always YouTube videos. Someone needs to open up a conversation so I guess it'll be me.

I certainly didn't expect AI to be able to create music tracks but now I have a new hobby. What else am I missing that should be surprising me? I don't want to have to watch all these videos to find out.. someone just summarize perhaps? Tell me what AI feats have surprised you?

Someone posted one a while ago.. I forget where now but two robots were racing and one robot face punched the other one in the middle of the race. That surprised me too.

I found this talk very interesting one... placing it here in this AI thread, because of Thiel and his buddies... video is about Thiell recently saying, maybe evil is sometimes good... interesting talk also about, not trusting those techno brothers... and their buddies.....
