I think Senator Murphy is playing an unintentional role and playing it brilliantly. He’s under strict instructions not to discuss the briefing, yet everyone knows he can’t wait to get in front of a camera and say "everything" without actually revealing anything specific. He dances around the legal issues just carefully enough to stay out of trouble. He is an unwitting mouthpiece for the Trump administration, and he is playing his part with gusto.

Imagine you’re Mojtaba Khamenei or a senior IRGC leader, and you hear Senator Murphy say these words so confidently, calling the situation “insane” and the "destruction of our rule of law”, and that it "will lead to devastating escalation." Five minutes after watching this video, you might be looking for an escape route or preparing to meet Allah.
