can anyone confirm that the radiation is actually leaking in substantial amounts? this is just what a friend told me he heard on CNN that it "is melting down". NO fear mongering. i am wanting to find more clarity on this. i live in CA and it would effect us here possibly...

I was at the shop today getting more water and tinned food (just in case) and I heard the cashier say to the customer in front how it had been really really busy yesterday and that morning - and the customer said, oh, what was on - and the cashier said, nothing really, just the footblall, but it was sooo busy.

It made me wonder if more people were using their computer to get updates rather than relying on the TV news.

Probably know as much as you sllim11 but I don’t think it’s gone into meltdown certainly they aren’t talking about it.

You could try the BBC they did have a nuclear professor talking about progress. The main news is on the hour. Hope this helps.

News report says that people living near the Reactor have been given Iodine as a precautionary measure.

Question...If Iodine can be used as a precautionary measure against radiation poisoning,should we here in North America buy some before there's a run on it?

Hi Shybastid - I went to buy some and the chemist said they don't sell it, because it can really damage your thyroid if you take it and don't need it.
She said if you needed it it would have to be through a doctor or government issue.

So - eat lots of leafy green vegies and brocoli.

It is not true that Potassium iodide can damage your thyroid. The ONLY case that would be true is if one has Hasimotos. It's like Vitamin C, whatever your body doesn't use will be peed out. Order Iodoral 12.5 mgs from Amazon and eat seaweed (lots) until it comes.

Hi Nearing - I didn't specify that it was potassium iodine - I just said (because she asked what it was for) and I felt like a bit of a d*ck, but I told her. And that's what she told me - so, I was just passing that on.

It might be a heap of crap - our supermarkets sell fluoride and salvia is illegal.

So - going by our record - you're likely right.
But, I couldn't buy any.

In other words, I'm not praying for ET intervention but rather for the decision makers to get out of their ego mind and do what is best for their country men/women. It IS within their power to stop this.

If ET do intervene - you wont know it, the reactors will just cool and no-one will be able to explain how it happened

Folks, it doesn't look good. Some major credibility issues here. For instance:

On August 29, 2002, the government of Japan revealed that TEPCO was guilty of false reporting in routine governmental inspection of its nuclear plants and systematic concealment of plant safety incidents. All seventeen of its boiling-water reactors were shut down for inspection as a result. TEPCO's president, Nobuya Minami, was later forced to resign, and the utility "eventually admitted to two hundred occasions over more than two decades between 1977 and 2002, involving the submission of false technical data to authorities".[3] Upon taking over leadership responsibilities, TEPCO's new president issued a public commitment that the company would take all the countermeasures necessary to prevent fraud and restore the nation's confidence. By the end of 2005, generation at suspended plants had been restarted, with government approval.

In 2007, however, the company announced to the public that an internal investigation had revealed a large number of unreported incidents. These included an unexpected unit criticality in 1978 and additional systematic false reporting, which hadn't been uncovered during the 2002 inquiry. Along with scandals at other Japanese electric companies, this failure to ensure corporate compliance resulted in strong public criticism of Japan's electric power industry and the nation's nuclear energy policy. Again the company made no effort to identify those responsible.

I pray that the engineers on site have the courage to do what is best for the Japanese public and the world!
