There are two other volcanos that started erupting last week on the 25ft: Puyehue in Chile and Arenal in Costa Rica. Guatemala also got hit by the storm Agatha

A powerful tropical storm has struck Guatemala, bringing torrential rains that have added to the disruption caused by an erupting volcano.

At least 12 people have died in mudslides and floods caused by tropical storm Agatha, which is moving in from the Pacific Ocean.

The rains are complicating efforts to clear up ash from the Pacaya Volcano, which began erupting on Thursday.

Guatemala's main airport will remain close for at least five days.

Tropical storm Agatha - the first named storm of the Pacific Hurricane season - is expected to dump at least 50cm (20in) of rain on Guatemala, as well as El Salvador and southeastern Mexico.
    Buried alive

Some rivers have already burst their banks, destroying bridges and forcing more than a-thousand people to flee their homes.
Plane covered in volcanic ash Guatemala City airport remains closed

Four children died when a mudslide buried their home in Santa Catarina Pinula, on the outskirts of Guatemala City, officials said.

Elsewhere in the capital, four people died and 11 are missing after floods swept through their homes.

A state of emergency declared because of the volcanic eruption has been extended across Guatemala.

Hundreds of people are in shelters after the Pacaya volcano erupted on Thursday.

Officials are warning that flooding could be worse than usual because ash from the volcano has blocked drainage systems.

They fear the rains will turn the black volcanic ash into cement-like mud

There are a number of ongoing volcanos around the world. It is very active in this moment

I can't help but correlate all this with the sun's magnetic storms and CME! Any thoughts on this?

There are three main factors to my understanding
    1) CMEs and other cosmic pulses
    2) Heating of the core of the planet (which is happening in all the solar sys it may well be a galactic thing)
    3) Human intervention by way of scalar tech, i.e. HAARP we could do without this one but, they ain't listening

I think the volcaninc activity makes sense, it relieves pressure and cools the atmosphere with the ash

    Lets sack those politicians

Tropical Storm Agatha Lashes Central America

The first tropical storm of the Pacific hurricane season has left at least 99 people dead as heavy rains triggered flash floods and mudslides across Central America.

Hundreds of thousands of people in Guatemala have been forced from their homes

Tropical Storm Agatha slammed into Guatemala on Sunday where it has had the most devastating effect, leaving 82 dead according to officials.

El Salvador, Honduras and Mexico have also been affected by floods and landslides and hundreds of thousands of people have fled their homes.

"We have suffered many personal misfortunes," Guatemalan president Alvaro Colom told reporters.

"But from now we enter a transition stage where we attend to the people in the shelters."

Authorities in El Salvador have accounted for nine deaths so far with Honduras reporting eight people dead.

All three have declared a nationwide state of emergency and Colombia and the US have offered to send aircraft to transport aid supplies or help with evacuations.

The 40mph winds have dissipated since they first hit Guatemala and the storm has now been downgraded to a tropical depression.

But authorities in the region are still trying to reach cut-off communities and the death toll is expected to rise.

In Guatemala, 112,000 people have fled their homes and a local mayor said a landslide in the Solola district swept away 25 homes in one village, killing 15 people with another 10 missing.

The president has stated that bodies will be buried quickly to prevent the outbreak of disease and schools will remain closed this week.

The storm is a double disaster for Guatemala after its Pacaya volcano erupted on Wednesday showering the capital in ash and killing two people. Three others are still missing.

The ash has closed La Aurora International Airport in Guatemala City, so President Colom has requested the use of an airport in Mexico's border city of Tapachula for emergency flights.
Freddy Sanchez from Guatemala's national seismological institute warned it was highly likely that there could be more "violent explosions" in the coming days.

Anyone know what these sink holes are? Is it a natural reaction or some kind of underground drilling/opening space operations that collapse?

It certainly doesn't look like it was caused by a landslide as the news story is reporting. That story must be some kind of coverup.

122F !!! I can't imagine what that would be like!!

    Hundreds die in Indian heatwave

Death toll expected to rise as India faces record temperatures of up to 122F in hottest summer on record

Record temperatures in northern India have claimed hundreds of lives in what is believed to be the hottest summer in the country since records began in the late 1800s.

The death toll is expected to rise with experts forecasting temperatures approaching 50C (122F) in coming weeks. More than 100 people are reported to have died in the state of Gujarat where the mercury topped at 48.5C last week. At least 90 died in Maharashtra, 35 in Rajasthan and 34 in Bihar.

Hospitals in Gujarat have been receiving around 300 people a day suffering from food poisoning and heat stroke, ministers said. Officials admit the figures are only a fraction of the total as most of the casualties are found in remote rural villages.

Jeeeeze these holes are getting bigger and bigger...seen this?

Photoshopped our arse! This is real (according to the people that run Guatemala), and we are SO very screwed. Does that thing after the jump look familiar? This is where all the bad girls and boys go to spend their eternity. Bingo, it’s the security line at O’Hare Airport.

Hoped you enjoyed that 3-day weekend, ’cause the grind begins NOW!

Today is the day: hurricane season is off and running, yet nature decided to get a jump on the festivities. A storm has already clobbered Central America. Rain from Tropical Storm Agatha has generated flooding and landslides, killing more than 140 people.

But THIS! Have you seen THIS! Folks, THIS is a sign from the almighty. BP, and their gargling oil fountain, have angered the storm gods. Just look what they’ve wrought on poor, defenseless Guatemala. This sinkhole is like an expressway to Hades. HELLLO down there!!?!? Either this is the Hatch from LOST or we can visit Shanghai through this here hole.

First Tropical Storm of the Season Kills Scores

More than 110,000 in Guatemala flee as first storm of season lashes region

    May 31, 2010
    AP

GUATEMALA CITY - Flooding and landslides from the season's first tropical storm have killed at least 150 people and left thousands homeless in Central America, officials said Monday.

Dozens are still missing, thousands have lost homes and emergency crews are struggling to reach isolated communities cut off by washed-out roads and collapsed bridges caused by Tropical Storm Agatha.

The sun emerged Monday in hardest-hit Guatemala, where officials reported 123 dead and at least 90 missing. In the department of Chimaltenango — a province west of Guatemala City — landslides buried dozens of rural Indian communities and killed at least 60 people, Gov. Erick de Leon said.

At least 25 members of Bakkarwal tribe, including women and children, were feared killed along with their livestock while several others are reportedly missing after unprecedented snowstorm in Kishtwar district, official sources today said. Several nomad families at various migration routes in upper reaches of Kishtwar were reportedly missing since untimely heavy snowfall and rain struck the Pir Panjal mountain ranges last week, UNI said quoting a senior police officer who requesting anonymity. As per official assessment, over 4,000 cattle, including goats, sheep, horses, cows and buffaloes, have been killed due to a turbulent weather on May 27, 28 last month in inaccessible high reaches of Warwan, the officer said. "Exact number of people killed in this natural disaster in Warwan area, which connects Kishtwar to Kargil (Ladakh area), could be known only after the administration teams reach the places,'' the officer said, asserting that it takes three days to reach the locations where the deaths of nomadic Bakkarwals have been reported and there is no telecommunication facility in the area. "So far we can just say several nomadic families are missing as we have not been able to establish contact with them,'' the officer said.

According to reports, an entire dera (nomadic group) of at least 25 Bakkarwals, including women and children, which was halting at Jabba Nullah in Warwan area, has perished in snowstorm along with their livestock. As the reports were yet to be verified officially, the state administration was observing silence over the loss of human life and livestock due to turbulent weather in upper reaches in Jammu and Kashmir. On receiving information, the district administration dispatched two teams of 15 members each to the affected area under the leadership of Dy SP (Operations) Kishtwar and Assistant Commissioner (Revenue), the officer disclosed. The teams would launch rescue operation and assess the losses due to natural disaster, the officer said, asserting that exact situation will also be clear after the officials reach the affected locations in Warwan. Officer, however, said locating bodies of deceased wont be possible due to 3 to 5 feet snow in the area. NGO, Tribal Research and Cultural Foundations secretary Dr Javid Rahi said several families of nomadic Bakkarwals and Gujjars were reportedly trapped in inaccessible upper reaches of Pir Panjal. We request government to immediately conduct aerial survey of affected areas and help save lives of trapped nomads in Kishtwar, Dr Rahi said, estimating loss of livestock over 10,000. Not only Kishtwar, but the higher reaches in other districts of the state also witnessed heavy snowfall and rains, and there could be more casualties, an official said. Army has also launched rescue and relief operations for the affected people in remote areas of Kishtwar, Yesterday, a joint relief column comprising Army doctors, civilian veterinary doctors, police personnel and officials from the District Headquarters were airlifted from Kishtwar to Warwan. The team carried along with them sufficient quantities of medicines both for the deras as well as their livestock, Defence spokesman Lt Col Biplab Nath said, adding the army team will undertake simultaneous relief work in Warwan and Navapachchi areas for the next four to five days.
