elenin under intellegent control, now the orbit makes sense,, a comet would go right into the sun , but a planet/craft comes in makes a sharp left turn and goes right back out basically the way it came in... they are here and want to say hello we are here......there is a better way to live , and we have a chance to join our galactic family finally.... gotta put the cabal out of power.... we are one.... time to re-shape the matrix....

Indeed phones do not have Infrared capabilities.

The apps you can use are simply software for digital photo manipulation to "fake" or "emulate" IR vision using various algorithms.

Even the Youtube video states at the end, that the filter is simply getting the lower part of the visible spectrum and is not actually infrared vision.

If you want to test for infrared vision, go into a perfectly dark room (to your eyes!) and then take a picture of your body. If the photo shows the hot/warm areas of your body, then yes, you have infrared.

In my opinion the photo in the original post is a digitally inverted lens flare caused be overloading the cheap lens of the phone. Expensive lenses don't do any better either. To photograph the Sun or around it you need special filters.

PS: The title of this thread is very misleading. It should have been something close to: "Something appears near the Sun if photographed with my phone". No argument was offered to show that is Elenin.

That may be so, but as far I know the CCD sensor is designed to capture meaningful information in the visible spectrum. Do you actually know of iPhones with a CCD camera that can truly take IR photos? Using iTunes apps?

True, iPhones are not designed to capture IR only and I don't know of any that are. What I suspect the apps of doing is taking the RAW data and extracting the IR portion that has been recorded by filtering out the rest of the spectrum.

I see... that could work if the CCD has some IR data. My hunch is that the App simply uses the "red channel" data and with slight alterations presents it as "IR". How to test?

PS: Sorry to derail this thread a bit, but it goes to show what kind of devices you can use and what you can expect to actually get when hunting for comets.

No doubt about marketing PR scams...

How to test? What you suggested previously: in near dark, taking pictures of objects offering a range of temperatures from ice cubes to that handy cup of coffee or tea... ... Iron sole... inside of oven... etc.

I'll try to locate the references I had in mind on IR capacity of regular cams and add it here later.

I've got a very hot cup of tea, just after boiling it and went into the bathroom with no light... nothing registered on the sensor but noise.

The apps that were allegedly doing infrared, were simply selecting a very long exposure time and a high gain and that could trick you if they could get a bit of light. But no luck here, only blue reddish noise...

So I've looked on the net and most IR apps state clearly that they are fakes:

Entertain your friends making them believe your phone has infra-red thermal vision capabilities.
See your camera preview looking like a Thermal Visor in real time, and take thermal looking pictures.

Looking at your links the first two talk about NIR (near Infrared). So yes, there is some sensitivity to IR but not quite.

The third was more interesting:

Unlike film, digital cameras are all sensitive to IR. This is unfortunate for regular photography since sensitivity to IR can makes colors look unnatural.

Thus all digital cameras and camcorders have an internal filter deliberately to remove IR.

So I guess that while the digital cameras do have IR sensitivity, it appears to be deliberately filtered out. And the IR apps (at least for Android) have a disclaimer "Phones don't have real infra-red capabilities".

It's still a stretch since the original photo does not really have anything to do with Elenin, but lets say "we stay open to the possibility".

I noticed the date at the bottom of this post (Aug 20). This link is no longer active. So I searched further.

On the SAME date in the NASA photos (http://soho.nascom.nasa.gov/spaceweather/) a planet sized object with 'wings' is shown. So, the idea that NASA is hiding this is a lot of drama and... well.... lies from someone addicted to the idea of conspiracy.

To see for yourself:
1. go to http://soho.nascom.nasa.gov/spaceweather/
2. Find the 8/20/11 date.
3. Look at the 'blue LASCO C3 image to see a planet with 'wings'.
There is no description here of what this object is, however there is an orbit diagram which certainly indicates that Venus would have been exactly where the object was shown in the beginning of the thread. By the way, it is normal for planets near the sun in these images to have 'wings'.

I too see lots of lies and conspirators in our government, however I try to check facts as much as possible. I know one thing about my mind, once it believes something it attempts to create evidence to prove that it is right. I'd rather not be run around in circles by my mind so I try to use wisdom check things out before I buy into drama, thought you all might appreciate my sharing what I found in checking.

I was wondering I have a some infrared binoculars which I use for night viewing various anomolies in the skies...yopu know the ones...

If I put a filter on them and looked towards the sun ... would this work?? just a thought...

Elenin may or may not have fragmented and/or it may or may not have been diverted by force. Have you heard anything about that?

What "noise" do you refer to?

I know a thing or two about astronomy. From the reports I read recently, it seems that it has "fragmented" into few big pieces and several small ones. The sudden change of trajectory happened after the "disattach".

Some of the noises heard in Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Siberia, Hungary and elsewhere. There were reports of something of this type also appearing in the UK and France.

I asked to see if it can confirmed by members living in these countries.

Each noise is slightly different. It doesn't sound like a boring machine because its way too loud and it usually can be heard from any possible three dimensional, 360 degree angle.

Some of the sounds even sound organic. Like some of the weird noises caught in underwater exploration that to this day are unexplained.
