I am now reluctant to post anything because I dont wish to add to disinfo.
I just dont have the knowledge to discern true from false.
This item at least seems to prove nothing to fear.

In any case, let me expand now:

If comet Elenin actually had 10-20 times the mass of the Earth, then when it came at the distance of 0.2 AU from the Stereo B satellite, the least that could have occurred is a need for the agency in charge of it to reposition it due to the formidable gravitational pull on it from such a huge mass.

An intermediate effect would have been that Stereo B would have been caught as a satellite to Elenin... and gone along with it through the solar system, catching our moon and our planet along with it!

The worst case scenario would have been that Stereo B crashed onto Elenin as occurs to satellites pulled back down to Earth.

Has any of the above occurred? There's you answer!

Since I noticed you also followed the other current Elenin thread and had read similar posts as above, my question is: what's so incomprehensible or confusing about it?

Yep, I would download and save this picture while it is still there. They are updated and replaced everyday never to be seen again. I check this web cam every day and have not seen anything like this before. Of course some will say it's a lens (tihingamajig) but it still deserves to be researched.

Yiola if you check everyday and haven't seen anything like this before wouldn't it stand to reason that it isn't a lense flare?

Its still on link that verach kindly posted.
It doesn't look real ie like an ink blot on a photo----- different kind of texture.
If it was lens flare it would not be in approx same position on the sun and the camera is fixed.
Who knows---I dont but I would assume if that is real then it would be visible to a lot of astronomers,

Hi Bill, welcome to our little infamous corner of Avalon ! You are most likely correct in your assessment regarding the clearly defined edges of the black circle. It just seems strange that, even though we've seen the sun on the Antarctic web cam before, this is the first time the black circle has shown up. Maybe its some new software or filter they are using. I'm going to wait and see if the circle increases in size over the next few days or disappears completely.

The thing to remember here is that there are thousands (maybe tens of thousands!) of competent, knowledgeable amateur astronomers in every developed corner of the world. Most of them are independent and are not funded or employed by institutions.

If there were any major anomalies visible with an optical telescope, they would be shouting from the rooftops. And competing with one another to add their names to a new discovery.

The only major problem out there is likely to be Planet X, which is not yet visible optically. As best I understand, it's still a few years out. It's probably currently visible in the infrared, though, through means not available to citizens (and certainly not visible in a cellphone camera).

Very good observation.
The ego would be strong and compelling them to be the first to report the sighting of whatever it is they saw first.
