I have heard a story, second hand, from a dentist (and not a holistic, but mainstream dentist), who validated the successful outcome by oil pulling, by a patient who had had long term and disgusting peridontal issues. Completely gone. Also, Dr Fife, who writes about the miracles of coconut oil, says you can use it for oil pulling too.

A while ago, there was a discussion going on in Avalon about this very topic. It also included the subject of dental health:

I tried this for a short while about a year ago. The benefits I saw were definitely whiter teeth and they felt cleaner too. I was using organic sesame seed oil (if I remember correctly). Coconut oil probably tastes better - think I might try it again!

This has been a regular morning practise for me for months now. It's very cleansing.

It does quite a lot of things for the body, from my personal exp it can also help to alleviate chronic headaches, say you wake up with them in the morning.
    Why not now?

i got bad denture through out my life

i have done oil pulling for a couple of years now...on and off...whenever i can

my conclusions are: coconut is the best taste-wise and teeth whitening; sesame and safflower for possibly the best dental and oral hygiene; sunflower is pretty good overall; i've even used castor oil, very good for the gums...

it's hard to do a toxicity pull comparison...but if you wake up, or go to bad with strong teeth, healthy gum, and clean odorless tongue, keep doing what your doing...

what i do is do it before bad, or first thing in the morning, 20-30 min, and scrape your tongue very well...ready to hit the bed or the road

i haven't been to the dentist in probably 8 years, and chances are not going back 'till death...
last time i went they suggested me dental work worth of $13.000...i said no thnks

anyway, experiment with it, definitely won't deteriorate your mouth, only cleanse it

    cheers

    give it

Day One of oil pulling I bought Organic unrefined Sesame oil. Taste not so great, but after my mouth felt very clean and my teeth were noticeably whiter. Note if you are trying this make sure you have your rinse cup ready at the time you spit out the oil.
