Ulli so happy you made it to your destination safely.

The guitar is unbelievably beautiful -they have always been my favorite of the string or any other kinds of musical instruments.

Another storm has blown in expecting more snow up here on the mountain. Have a good hot fire going in the stove and enjoying the quiet of the forest.

Saw a Golden Eagle today while driving up the mountain -they always seem magical to me. They use to be abundant here in California -rare to see them now.

Strange Metal Boxes Found on Coast

There have been emails circulating around the internet concerning large 5' x 5' boxes that cannot be moved. Supposedly they have tried with 4wheel drive trucks and chains. The first thing wrong with this picture is the picture itself. The boxes are not square they are rectangular, longer than they are wide. Two no one can find them and there is no sound recorded. If something like this washed up on the beach and was humming there would be several agencies all over these boxes. If they were moved then the comment they could not be moved is also false. There is not one verifying fact about this article. Having several friends go to these locations soon after receiving the email not one of them could find the boxes. They also could not find one person that ever heard of the boxes. There are two theories. One everyone was mind swiped like in Men in Black and the boxes were beamed back up on the ships or the whole story was faked. It also could be a set up to discredit people which is often a dirty little trick played by psyopps. Bottom line is it looks like the boxes never existed.

Can I ask a question,to all that are on the subject of guitars right now and their meanings,-"Black Alfed" has been called, unbelievably Beautiful~crazy beautiful~and refered to as a she,and in the same sentence as UN LUGAR SOLITAIO,my spelling may be wrong ,but can someone help me to understand here... Thank You

When I was a child (8.5) I had a fever. I went completely numb. Lost all feeling in my body. I was also doing stilled meditation at the same time. I reached Kundalini and went back to, for while..of being incapable of sleeping at night. Like I did when I was 5.

So, when I heard this 'wall'..when I was 13, well........ I was blown away. Of course, Roger is another Virgo. (Sept 6. 1943)

You were doing stilled mediation at 5?!?

I have just learned that a friend (a Virgo also) of mine lost his twin brother yesterday. Car accident. He lost a daughter during childbirth 4 years ago, which tore him apart.
He knows not of things spiritual of this world and it breaks my heart knowing the pain he is in and that he will not be able to detach from it, and so neither can I.....

Wow, no way! Too, interesting. I won't make a guess then, but intriguing nonetheless. I actually saw the Dead in Memphis, April 1, 1995. My brother took me. I was only fifteen. He told me I probably wouldn't ever have the chance again, and that was true.
A few years later I actually met Bob Weir in a hotel room in Oxford, MS. He was in town for Rob Wasserman's (great bass player) wedding, and I managed to sneak into the reception, after-party and late night. I never said anything, it was just too much fun to be there amidst the talk, beer, and solicitous smoke.

To comment on the thruneck style and also on your original comment, "Back when artists did things right...they got the note they wanted from the instruments and how the gear was set up.", I think that was best typified by Owsley "Bear" Stanley, Phil Lesh, and Jerry Garcia. Notwithstanding the Wall of Sound, Bear was an absolute genius and pioneered the Dead's sound, and took it places where no one else, with maybe the exception of Zappa, was going at the time. Their sound was primarily accomplished by using nothing other than McIntosh equipment, made in Binghapmton, NY. My favorite of Garcia's guitars was the Travis Bean, which he played form '74-'79. The Bean had a solid aluminum neck which ran straight through the entire body with the pickups located on the aluminum neck. I have always wanted one, but alas, I don't have several thousand dollars laying around.



Whether you dig the Dead or not, they put more deadication (slight pun intended) into the sound and technicality of their music than any band that I have studied, again, excepting Zappa, and possibly Floyd.

I just read about the Travis Bean guitars.

I can give you that sustain and make it completely tunable. Any tunable flavor you might want. Anything at all.

In a wood based solid body guitar.

I've been sitting on the design for over 15-17 years.

I don't make guitars, and I don't play them, but I know everything about how they work. On a level where the makers may have more practical experience....but I have the technical expertise in various other areas that allows me to say that, without fibbing or being even remotely wrong.

I've been thinking about going forth with that experiment and proving it to myself, for a long, long time.

I wasn't sure if a completely tunable guitar was wanted, so I just shelved it in the back o' me skull, along with 100's of other similar shelved projects and ideas.


A few friends are luthiers. I'd like to experiment with him (the one guy i'm thinking of), but not at those custom prices. I'd have to spend $100 on a used Chinese strat. which I nearly bought today..after reading this thread. I had to force myself to back off from taking on a fever project in the middle of many other red stickered projects (red sticker:rush, late, important, etc). Too many projects!!!

That's gorgeous! I get your point about the placement of the pegs and its effect on the strings, but I never would have imagined to even think of such a thing. I hope you get the chance one day to build you a guitar. I can only imagine what it might look and sound like.

Un lugar solitario -probably Italian for a solitary place -so in reference to the guitar -in a class of its own. References to "she" or unbelievably beautiful crazy beautiful used metaphorically to something either ascetically beautiful or speaks to your soul and spirit or bothe.

Edit -Un lugar solitario also could mean -takes you to that one place -the beyond-

Just as before that update from Tom came through i was talking to a close friend of his attachment to
thinking he can fix everything himself, which amounts to holding onto control and avoiding feeling
vulnerable, and hence staying stuck in a pattern, I was very much lke that myself , and it took me
years and years to let others assist me, but since i opened that door everything shifted and exponentially.

The letting go of the attachment to control is a tough one, but man, it's absolutely liberating when you finally get there.

Also in the here and nowness.. i just connected with two Aussies that are students of
one of my US trainers, and they are doing a workshop in Melbourne in March, so i get to
face to face with more like minds, very exciting times.

It's trying to rain here after a hot summer day, the air smells lovely,
the energies are different somehow today, cant put my finger on it though,
hmmmm, sort of pregnant, impeding, but in a good way.

Here and now I wonder if I am one of a handful of people who do not post while drinking. I often get replies and exchanges with English speaking people that seem like some translation has been lost. It reminds me of when I was a sober bartender. Tends to take the whole point out of a conversation. I am being not kidding either.
