Native Prayer to the Four Directions

    Great Spirit of Light,
come to me out of the East (red)
with the power of the rising sun.
Let there be light in my words,
let there be light on my path that I walk.
    Let me remember always
that you give the gift of a new day.
And never let me be burdened with sorrow
    by not starting over again.

    Great Spirit of Love,
come to me with the power of the North (white).
Make me courageous when the cold wind falls upon me.
    Give me strength and endurance
    for everything that is harsh,
    everything that hurts,
    everything that makes me squint.
    Let me move through life
ready to take what comes from the north.

    Great Life-Giving Spirit,
    I face the West (black),
    the direction of sundown.
Let me remember everyday that the moment will come
when my sun will go down.
Never let me forget that I must fade into you.
    Give me a beautiful color,
give me a great sky for setting,
so that when it is my time to meet you,
    I can come with glory.

    Great Spirit of Creation,
send me the warm and soothing winds from the South (yellow).
Comfort me and caress me when I am tired and cold.
Unfold me like the gentle breezes
that unfold the leaves on the trees.
As you give to all the earth your warm, moving wind,
    give to me,
so that I may grow close to you in warmth.

    Hiya Ulli!

I understand what you are getting at, and yet there is still something of the sense of dilemma when folks suggest "keeping busy and productive". It certainly might address some symptoms, but there is still an avoidance involved. The question is, what is being avoided, that we need to keep busy so as not to have to face it?

Good morning! Beautiful morning on the lake...still water, cool temperature for this time of year, bright sun still rising. Ahh, so peaceful. Good way to start a busy day.

Yesterday I mentioned to someone that in the time away from posting on PA, I somehow found my authentic voice. Now what's been rolling around in the background of my thoughts is how did that happen? Was it all the shadow work? More time spent in nature...more grounding? To those of an astrological bent...could I have somehow reconciled the 'conflict' of a fire sign sun and water sign moon? Not that it matters, but I find it interesting when I can see changes in myself that seem to have happened effortlessly. Has that happened to anyone else?

Being in the here and now will do that in a very short time, Belle.
Remember how focus will attract that which is being focused on.
Here and now is reality, just as the authentic self, which is your best friend,
    is also your immediate reality.
    Authentic=real.

Thanks for confirming that this thread was the right step as a logical follow-up to investigating cover-ups.
The feeling of total powerlessness experienced after discovering our collective vulnerability has to lead somewhere:
and that is to the discovery that we all have power after all...inside our authentic selves.
And that power, when pooled by an enlightened group, can stir asteroids, as well as topple tyrants...without bloodshed.

    Good Morning,

I don't know what's wrong with me today. Instead of the butterflies in my stomach that usually accompany anxiety in general, there is a cement mixer. I am emotional, crying little sad tears. I am waging war on the beautiful, miraculous, creepy freaking hand-sized spiders that are invading the inside of my house. NOT the deal, guys. Four of them in a day has thrown me completely out of my comfort zone so much that I can't even sit down without watching the floor, the corners, the walls...this is MY house. You are welcome here, OUTSIDE. And I will NO LONGER be uncomfortable in my OWN home. GO AWAY!!!!! (Insert ho'oponopono here).

I am trying to get centered. I had to take xanax for the first time in two months and feel yucky for needing it. Why? I have to go into town, and "I" am very resistant to this idea. First stop is my neighbor's store on main street to ask her if she will help Mama (I have no idea what she needs). I have heard she has natural abilities with animals. Next stop will be the old hardware store where old men gather to swap gossip, because they will know the best way to keep critters outside. And to top it all off, we need a few things around here so I will have to go to the store. I will take a box of tissue with me so that I will reward myself with a good cry between stops if I can just not cry while I'm face to face with people. Wish me luck.

Difficult to remember "it's okay" when it doesn't feel like it.

    Love,
Life is a road we don't travel alone. But everyone's on their own journey home.

Good luck with the spiders. This is the Year of the Daddy Long Legs, at my house. A few weeks ago, I went to start a fire in the alter and hundreds of them came boiling out. Last year was Year of the Spider, and the year before was Year of the Millepede.

I can remember when I was young...I would sit for hours and play with Daddy Longlegs and June Bugs and Rolly Pollies and Lady Bugs and all manner of other creatures. In my little world, the words poisonous and ugly did not exist. Oh, I'm sure these types of creatures existed, but they were just outside my little world. My parents would take us camping, and when I got tired of not catching fish I would play with the minnows. Even the dead ones, which I laugh at now. I would carve out roads in the dirt and use old shells for the houses. Oh, things were simple then.

Have a piece of jet in one pocket, three pieces of obsidian in the other, and am once again wearing a 2" amethyst point...my baby...wore this for a year or two until the chain broke. After the big dizzy spell and weird other sh!t, I replaced the chain. She's all clean and charged up! And permanently around me

    Off I go....

This may not work for everyone, but it might be worth a try.

Back when I first left the monastery (1974), I didn't have much money, and so rented an apartment in San Francisco that I could afford. As I was soon to find out one night when I went into the kitchen and turned on the light, the apartment also came with a large contigent of cockroaches. Talking to some neighbors, I learned that the problem was epidemic throughout the building.

Consequently, I decided to act directly, and caught one of the bugs. I then had a chat with it, and indicated that I would release it outside, and in return, I expected it would spread the word among the cockroach community that my apartment was off-limits.

I then released it, and the next day, I found the apartment to be pleasantly roach-free. It remained that way as long as I lived there (about a year). When I was troubled by other bugs down through the years, I did the same, and it usually worked, although ants seem to be on another wave-length, and hard to reach.

We allow certain spiders, like Hoppers, because Mazie likes them, and they stay out of the way (based on a similar agreement, that they keep a low profile). You might try to catch one of your spiders and try reasoning in the above manner. You never know . . .

Abob, I've seen similar. My teacher, Wendy Fogg, explained how she did this, and that it worked for her for all except wasps. She found their energy to be self centered and she couldn't make an agreement with them. I notice the same when they fly by me, there's no communication ... in their own world and no interest in a human. I can feel some sort of communion with others. I know what you mean about the ants ... maybe it's the hive mind, where communicating with just one doesn't work. My SO always puts out those little black plastic ant catchers, so I try to keep them from ever showing up by keeping sweet/greasy things under wraps. So far this year it's been successful!

Emily, the neighbor's cat, has been eating with us. The neighbor is a young guy, I found out he has a new love who lives 2 hours away and is spending lots of time there... poor little Emily is forgotten, I think he knows I'll feed her. She comes in for strokes, and she has a beautiful purr. Cat purrs are healthy and healing for humans, we were talking about that in the thread awhile ago, weren't we? Emily's very sweet ... there was a small cricket on the kitchen floor, he's been hanging around this weekend ... I've heard crickets are lucky to have in the house. I don't know if that's true, but I like their presence so let him stay as long as he wishes. Emily trotted into the kitchen when I let her in for feeding, and rushed by the cricket, giving him a cursory once-over, then let him be. I loved that, live and let live.

    Emily and her cricket:

My son has found a house not too far away that he can afford, we are hoping he can get the paperwork lined up to buy it. It has a garage, and fruit trees, and enough land around it.

Keeping Nora in my thoughts. And everyone else ... haven't read the thread much today .... except AB, what gorgeous photos.

    Love to all,
    JB

My teacher, Wendy Fogg, explained how she did this, and that it worked for her for all except wasps. She found their energy to be self centered and she couldn't make an agreement with them. I notice the same when they fly by me, there's no communication ... in their own world and no interest in a human.
Thanks for that nice post, M!

I know what you mean about wasps, so I indicate to them that they have no place here, and that seems to keep them from settling down. Of course, I don't mind if they visit, but that's it!

Today Mazie and I were sitting in the yard and a blue-headed bee landed in front of us. Neither of us had ever seen one before. It's head was literally bright blue, and Mazie at first thought it was a horse fly, but I said, "Look closer . . " It then turned itself sideways to show that it was indeed a bee. We watched it for some time, admiring it's blue head, and then it flew away.

I tried to google blue head bees, but there's nothing on them. I am wondering if anybody else has seen one?

We have a decent sized screened in porch out back, and it gives me great pleasure to set free dragon flies and such, who become trapped inside. It's really cool how they go from utter despair, to flying quickly to the sky and disappearing, free at last.(Kind of like what we're after huh?)

I didn't used to be that way, and there is a marked difference in how I now relate to nature. Or maybe more accurately how it relates to me? Hmmm. There is a communication, a harmony, however one wishes to describe it. Whether it be the feel of the earth beneath your feet, the touch of a breeze, or a raindrop. Not all the time of course, but it's there for sure.

When "as above so below" starts to really sink in, it begins to be realized that whether a planet, a human, or an atom, there is no difference. These "little" beings that we love to fumigate, want to live as desperately as we do. By the way we treat those under our control, makes me wonder just what really did happen to us.

When I took up photography as a hobby, Mazie suggested I try to get some insect shots close-up. She said that this would help me to appreciate little lives. She was right!

What a wonderful time I had! I am so grateful. So many beauty full women, a loving land, sacred ceremonies, soulful sharing, heart to heart hugs and kisses, much laughing, some crying, dancing, singing, delicious food (each vegetarian meal was a pleasure party of the mouth), some sleeping… , all in all, wholeness. I made many new friends, renewed with old ones. So much blessings.

Our Inipi Ceremony was held yesterday morning at dawn. I was doorkeeper and asked that no mosquitoes or deer flies come and spoil the time of those of us staying outside. To my surprise, not one came to annoy us. Not one, not even a buzz around the ears. Well… that’s a first for me. Usually, at dawn, these buggers are ferocious. WooHoo !

As the sun rose along with the prayers, I thought of EagleSpirit. May I say...your name suits you well.

I also can acknowledge the road I have travelled since my first Circle of Women back in 1999. My heart is not as heavy as it was, I see clearer skies, and I now can say that it is good to be me.

    We are all related.
