Angry YouTube no longer supports downloading of their videos

Here's their page advising members: http://support.google.com/youtube/bi...n&answer=56100
What's the story, are they attempting to restrict the dissemination of information that may be embarrassing to the Cabal or am I just paranoid.
Even The Paid Download option has been removed. Basically the only videos that may be downloaded are your own with a limit of 2 per hour. There may be other means by which we can download You Tube videos, I'll be investigating them tonight.
Has anyone else got anymore info on this restriction of important public data ?

    Hi Folks,

If you can see and hear the video and audio chances are you can "download" it or at least capture is somehow . They can make it more challenging, but if you can stream it to your computer you can "save" that stream for later.

I did not think it was officially supported anyway.

I use jdownloader to get any I want.

Perhaps soon they will introduce another method of streaming that cannot easily be intercepted.

Important: BEFORE installing the script below you need to have installed first the extension called Grease Monkey. (Thanks Shamz for pointing this out!!) Oh, and remember to restart your browser each time you install such extensions.

Here is the Firefox extension that I've been using since... I can't even remember:

I would not pay that any mind Felix, there are a whole bunch of tools available to download You Tube vids-they cannot claim copyright, or ownership of other people's offerings ethically anyway!

Youtube periodically make changes to their system that effectively disables downloader software, whether that software is stand-alone or a Firefox plugin, such as Paul described above. When this happens, it usually only takes a few hours or, at most, a few days before programmers of downloaders make the necessary changes to their software so you can download again.

I have DownloadHelper 4.9.9 and FinalVideoDownloader plugin 1.0.1 (as add-on in Firefox) not working anymore and no updates available (yet).

Too bad ... I used to download the videos and convert them to mp3 to listen them on my Android phone later. I am not online all the time ...

I noticed that there is a difference e.g. in the downloaded format. When you download an .mp4 from youtube the download keeps on going. But when you
download a .flv it will slow down after an initial period and takes a long time to complete. When you pause and continue from time to time you can manually
push the average download speed up a little ... It was then that I already noted that the plugin downloaders would know this and manipulate the requests.
I wondered when this would be blocked and voila ... here we are.

It's just a game because it's probably only a matter of time to work around the blockades again ... content cannot be protected unless you don't show it at all.

They must be trying to stem the exodus. Stop everyone from taking their vids back and moving on. YT SUCKS nowadays. Does anybody have any suggestions about websites that are a better place to host that may have community like YT used to have? I have about 30 vids I'd definitely like to house elsewhere.

Just downloaded one with "Free You Tube Downloder" (noon 09-14-12) maybe they haven't started it yet but you can still capture any video with "Audials 9".

I don't undertand it?...Why do some feel they have a right to download other copyright work and then when YouTube tries to protect copyright others share a way around it? I also have problem with YouTube but not in protecting copyright.

edit: My appologies I should have placed the above statement in a better context. It's in regard to the problem with others downloading and placing their own copyrights and removing the original and then collecting advertizement revenue...

Youtube is muchharder to download. I used to use Orbit Downloader, but it stopped working 2 years ago. It's turned into a virus now that inserts toolbars, etc. if you're not careful. So I use "Youtube downloader," but I will try to download as mp3 only with: http://www.youtube-loader.eu/ (it's in German).
