Well, my ex High Football Coach died today! He was 84. Good long life. Short illness.

As I look at it after all these years, it seems like RESPECT comes to mind. He was rough and gruff at times. But when I was in the hosptal, he came to deliver my letter jacket.

Needless to say, he had a loving wife(I love her to death) and two beautiful children.

I was the first of 5 brothers that played for him. We had many chamionships based on dicipline.

So what does love have to do with it? Respect for your fellow man!

We lived a community that was half causcion and half black. We came together on the football field as one. Remember this was back in the 60's.
Respect! Again. We didn't have fights in the schools. Thats what he taught us!

Yes, I took my beautiful boxador (combination black lab and boxer).Copper. Yes it is a breed!

Anyway as the sun started setting, On my Ol' Kentucy Home, it is beautiful 63 degrees in Kentucky, USA. As the beutiful sun fades in the west.

I just want to wish my old coach, pleasant jorneys in the afterlife!

My goal is for new and existing members to feel comfortable on the forum. So your feedback and Paul’s is helpful.

Ideally, it’s where everyone participates: Avalonian Family reaching out to Avalonian Family. Nothing complicated. Something as simple as a PM, or a hello on a message board of thanks for their valued point of view.

I’m tossing some ideas around. Maybe even start a thread for feedback on how we all can assist:
- new comers
- reluctant ones
- ones that don’t feel connected

For those that expressed doubt, confusion and frustration, I’ve seen some of us direct them to the “Here and Now” thread. It’s a great place to experiment with voice and play and support and family/friendship connections. Too, there are lot that reach out in quiet ways.

If 2 out of 10 members drop a “hello I was thinking of you” message once a week, that kind of juice is paid forward in countless ways here and in their personal lives.

Small and consistent actions are immeasurable.

Another idea is that I’d PM, to ask if anyone be part of an informal “phone line”. We’d pass along names that may be in need of an invitation/encouragement to skydive, fire walk, bungee jump, or do it the Wakytweaky way - leap. (Or roll up the pants and wade.)

If any one is interested in the informal phone line, please let me know.

Thanks in advance,
Paula

Dennis, can you briefly explain what is the job description of a mod?
Hi Paula. I'll take a serious try...

Quote Posted by WhiteCrowBlackDeer
- How long were you one?
I was active for a few months, then I got too busy in other things (Reset Button, mainly) to do much moderating.

Quote Posted by WhiteCrowBlackDeer
- Do you have to train?
No. Not really. For some technical stuff, (like splitting threads), each new mod is walked through the process by someone with the knowledge of how to do it without screwing up the forum threads (it was usually Paul, sometimes Ilie, for me)

Quote Posted by WhiteCrowBlackDeer
- Does it require technological skill/training?
A bit of understanding how the vBulletin (forum) software works is a plus, but the main things mods do are not technical, but are using their hearts to guide them in making King Solomon decisions. (You'd be great!) Nothing controversial was decided solo. The kinds of things mods do without consulting each other are more like forum thread/post housekeeping. Fixing nested quotes, for example.

Quote Posted by WhiteCrowBlackDeer
- What kind of time commitment does it take?
Give what you can, when you can. Paul said it better.

Quote Posted by WhiteCrowBlackDeer
- Do mods have a short life span being a mod because of the responsibility to deal with so many personalities?
I can only say for sure why my lifespan as a mod was short. (I got too damn busy.) But it it true (much moreso then, in the wake of the forum's eruption) that I found it tricky to be an ordinary member and posting in controversial threads in which I was also actively "modding."

Quote Posted by WhiteCrowBlackDeer
- What percentage of people would you say didn't respect your decisions? Are they mostly repeat offenders?
The percentage was small, other than a hugely unpopular decision when one longtime and well-liked (or strongly disliked - there was not much gray zone) member was removed from the forum. In the very beginning of the short time I was a mod, there was a faction that wanted to crucify Bill for all things wrong on the forum and in the multiverse - including burned toast and sh!tty marriages - and hounded and accused and put-down and some even libelled Bill. That was tough to take, was unfair to Bill, and those folks generally did not respect any decisions made about them and their repeated actions (and some got vacations to think about it, some were removed from the forum, and some quit.)

Quote Posted by WhiteCrowBlackDeer
- Were there many paid infiltrators on the forum?
I've had suspicions on a few, but not confirmed.

Quote Posted by WhiteCrowBlackDeer
- What if you are not interested in a thread, do you still monitor it?
No. No one was assigned to any threads, and it was hoped (and encouraged) that members would report posts that were outside guidelines - thus alerting mods to problems on threads that maybe none of the mods were particularly interested to follow.

Quote Posted by WhiteCrowBlackDeer
- Did you ever run into a problem with someone that has authority issues?
Yes. Some folks handle even gentle forum moderation suggestions very defensively - and sometimes they would simply invoke their right to type anything they wanted, calling it "censorship" if they had to modify behavior or words.

Quote Posted by WhiteCrowBlackDeer
- Are you expected to log in a certain number of hours?
No, whatever you can. (Although it would be kinda crazy to volunteer if someone could only be on the forum a few hours a week.)

Quote Posted by WhiteCrowBlackDeer
- How important is it for the community to be a part of reporting of
Members reporting problems is important because mods should be representatives of the whole forum, not utterly autonomous. Mods have dealt with a few "big deals" and so might not see something else as being big enough to warrant attention - but a member or two reporting a post shows the mod that it needs attention.

Quote Posted by WhiteCrowBlackDeer
- Have you ever had to give a 10 day vacation to someone?
Yes. Again, those were different times. There was probably more of that in early 2011 than in all of 2012. There were a number of people - maybe a dozen, that had been a part of Avalon and felt a strong sense of "ownership" (for lack of a better word), and at the same time, the clash they had with Bill and/or some of the mods made it impossible for them to stay. They either quit or were removed.

Quote Posted by WhiteCrowBlackDeer
- Did the new people stay in close contact with you for support?
Not really. I had a few people ask several "how do I..." questions, but not as much as I expected. I think the vast majority of members are forum savvy and computer literate.

Feel free to delete any or add. Thanks for your time.

Peace,
Paula
I would add that some of the staff (Bill, admins, and mods) chats on Skype were epic and awesome, and easily as good as the best forum threads. For one reason or another, they were about information that just couldn't go on a public forum, or sometimes just personal stuff. It was, of course, also an opportunity to get to know those folks better - much better - and was one of the best parts of being a mod.

Just remember to stay in high frequency, say thank you, do random acts of kindness, listen to uplifting music and seek out your joy without judgement. We are all in contact with multidimensional BEINGS, first they are inside of us, but more than that they are all around us just waiting to be invited. To connect, remember you are one of them, ask to be connected, call out "I remember who I am-I connect-Come be with me, whisper in my ear of love and direction, I am ready to be present, I am ready to BECOME"
Becoming high frequency is our goal and remembering is the key. Love to all.

You know...something is going to blow 'wide open' very soon in an unimaginable beautiful and exponential way. This direct/indirect help I keep speaking of regarding each of our own 'higher ups'. What we are doing in the roots and wings matters of things that really matter now is so instrumental in helping this along moment by moment. I have been doing many things myself moreso than usual, quietly behind the scenes and also setting myself up by speaking out...and what I speak up about is not new at all...we may each be simply setting up decoy after decoy with higher help so that this energy of unforeseen and unforetold magnificent magnitude can play out, So simply keep doing what we can do through each of our own heart's mind and active manifestation in the here and now. It boggles my mind why someone has not simply gotten a massive output of instant information out there that has put some practical inventive things to work for themselves and everyone out there...like running a small home with Tesla/Leedskalnin more or less non-stop power completely off the grid. James from ECETI put it out there while I was living there and helping out inviting any 'tinkerer' with this knowledge to come to the ranch and get it working there and show the world in a very thought out clandestine and then instant exposure way. I am talking about this here and now because I feel it is about to happen and cannot be stopped this time. I feel there are cluster groups already doing this and keeping it quiet for now, I also feel that we are going to get an instant upgrade someway somehow very soon because we are going to get direct access to the advanced technology that is already at our fingertips but is completely hidden and kept from us. I was prompted to share this openly this morning for some reason. I have a strong feeling our energy of seeing this occurring very soon is in fact a catalyst for it occurring very soon. And I understand many here in the Village understand that but I wanted to put it right out here in front of everyone. We are right there...something is going to push it through any moment. I understand again that many of you have been doing this somehow, someway...but...
Can we really give a Village push to this...each in our own way together?
Maybe it is simply pedal to the metal time with this explosion of information and putting it to use now, Here and Now...NO money down...just put it out there and change the world and upgrade the upgrade we are now experiencing beyond all logical and comprehensive 3d convoluted bindings!

Ulli:
Very inspiring, eaglespirit. Those who do this have to stay under the radar, though. If that is possible.
The rest of us have to push up protective energies around them. I know Carmody can use our shielding efforts.

I feel this too, vividly. Thanks Eaglespirit.
I will add my energy as well.

Oh my gosh, I sure wish I could describe for you what is going on in my house right now. I'm laughing so hard. Em and Little One are doing Wii Fitness. Em, whose name cannot possibly be Grace in any universe, first worked on balance and toning. And, since the lovely lady in the Wii brain told her she could have help, I stood next to her and laughed my ass off while she held on to me to steady her. The lady kept interrupting, saying "you are doing well, but you are a little wobbly." That kept me going for a minute. Then she did a 1.2 mile bicycle ride through town. Now, that was something to watch. She was controlling the bicycle and peddling fairly well until she hit an incline, got those muscles working uphill, but the down hill...she didn't know how to brake, so she flew over about a 6' wall and landed on the road below..and the three of us yelling the whole way "Ahhhhhhh!!!"

Of course, what made me sit and guffaw with my legs crossed was the Hula hoop. Actually it is the Super Hula Hoop. What's the difference, you ask? Well... She is standing on this pad, Little One beside her, swinging her hips in circles, him thinking he was also, and boy she got that hula hoop a-going. Then, though, another one got tossed to her, now this gets really funny to watch after about three hula hoops, you see, because when one is thrown to you, you have to stop and reeeeeeach to one side, shifting your weight from one foot to the other.

Oh. My. That was tooooooo much fun. And for anyone who might wonder why she is not actually riding a bike, or actually walking a mile, trust me when I tell you there is no where to do this around here, and I'm tickled that she wants to do it in the living room. Better than not getting up

Giggles and laughter. That's the most magic I can muster these days. I hope it's helping in some way, helping to bring in all the good stuff being beamed this direction...

Much Love,
Life is a road we don't travel alone. But everyone's on their own journey home.

Gotta say, thinking about the 444 post makes me feel like I'm on the right track with my current path
A strange observation. Page 222 on this thread contains post #4440, page 444 contains post #8880 and page 888 contains post #17760. The page number doubled with a zero added(or multiplied by 20). What are the odds of that?

Good Morning AwakeInADream....wishing you well : )

My calculus and algebra and trigonametry and basic logical math etc. etc. and such are a bit rusty...

Paul or Carmody or???? Someone here will give a reason for that sequential multiple happening the way the pages and threads are set up to click over to the next at certain volume numbers. : ) : ) : )
I think it's simply that a 'page' consists of 20 posts regardless of their size

If 2 out of 10 members drop a “hello I was thinking of you” message once a week, that kind of juice is payed forward in countless ways here and in their personal lives.

Peace,

Hello CdnSirian,

I was just about to shut the computer down when I noticed you left a post. I looked up "cheat" in the dictionary. I thought it was one of those double meaning words. It's not. But I also know you've only been 100% supportive. I can hardly keep my eyes open and have no powers of concentration left.

I'm guessing you'd help out once in a while with dropping a hello to the newbees? "Ditto" is the word that I focused on. I'll check back tomorrow to see if you've had a chance to respond.

Night,
WhiteCrowBlackDeer

PS If you are volunteering, then I say, "Yeah and thanks!"

Been out all day, with a most amazing group of women who are visiting our valley at the moment and have been brought together by a dear friend who has a knack at making pure magic.
The sync was to do with that picture of that cat jumping out of the plane which I posted yesterday, and part of which showed the University for Peace, which I know happens to be in Costa Rica.

So one of the ladies I met today happens to be married to the director of that same university. Blew me away. Tired now, will catch up tomorrow.

Well I was just about to shut down too...

You know I never feel well "qualified" to make too much response beyond a Ditto to wonderfully written posts.

When I said "cheat" it was more like "cheat sheet" ... a quickie response or answer (as I understand it). I don't have tomes of wisdom. But, really just saying "I get it"! Or. "I think I get it"!.

Warmest regards.
(I just re-read the post above)... I definitely would be happy to tune in 2 or more times a week to help welcome new persons to the forum. I'm usually on every day... with more or less to time to respond.

If I missed something here - will be back tomorrow to check this. Yawning too!

Can't see anything, Skippy. I'm on an iPad and iPhone and need a link, without which it's just a blank page.
I changed the markup to in the original post, and in my quoted copy of your post. The markup works better for Youtube videos, as it automatically shows the Source URL.
My quite dormant website: pauljackson.us

Just don't miscalculate like this guy did...

From Youtube description:

Australian BASE jumper Dwain Weston was considered one of the world's best at the time. On October 5, 2003 while performing a proximity demonstration, Dwain Weston died slamming full speed into the Royal Gorge Bridge near Canon City in Colorado, USA.

At the time of the impact, Dwain Weston was flying at an estimated 160 km/h speed. Experts believe that Dwain Weston miscalculated his distance from the bridge and misjudged the tricky winds within the narrow gorge. After hitting the railing on what is the highest suspension bridge in the world, the BASE jumper dropped 90 meters onto the rocky bottom of the Royal Gorge.

Dwain Weston was only 30 year old when the incident took place. The slam into the bridge was so strong, it totally disintegrated him. Brutal, but he died doing what he loved. Sheer brutality of the impact along with the fact that Dwain Weston was considered to be the best wingsuiter in the world made his death video the most famous BASE jumping accident in history.

Here and Now Purdy Update : )
Just a while ago I took the lower portion of Her cast off around the paw...the underside plastic support had cracked some time ago and I had re-taped it to secure it again when that happened.
Well, She was licking the paw like crazy doing what they do to nurse matters back to norm. I stayed with Her awhile and then went outside to have some coffee and a pipe...came back in and She had pulled the rest of the cast off Herself. I was going to do that early next week. Everything looks fine...we will see how it goes, I will take Her to the Vet if anything seems unusual. So good to see the leg again : ) and I am sure She feels the same.
Thank You Village and Marianne for all the 'healing and loving' thoughts sent : )
