As the federal government shutdown continues, Secretary of State John Kerry heads to Asia for secret talks on a sweeping new trade deal, the Trans-Pacific Partnership.

The TPP is often referred to by critics as “NAFTA on steroids,” and would establish a free trade zone that would stretch from Vietnam to Chile, encompassing 800 million people and nearly 40 percent of the global economy. While the text of the treaty has been largely negotiated behind closed doors and, until June, kept secret from Congress, more than 600 corporate advisers reportedly have access to the measure, including employees of Halliburton and Monsanto.

“This is not mainly about trade,” says Lori Wallach, director of Public Citizen’s Global Trade Watch. “It is a corporate Trojan horse. The agreement has 29 chapters, and only five of them have to do with trade. The other 24 chapters either handcuff our domestic governments, limiting food safety, environmental standards, financial regulation, energy and climate policy, or establishing new powers for corporations.”

There is little doubt that this story is bogus or just wishful thinking. The US was established to be government for the people and by the people but we have politicians in office that have made careers out of it. They understand how the game is played and manipulate the lobbyist and budgets for their personal gain. No institution on the planet needs term limits more than the both houses!

I recently read an outstanding book called An Act of Self Defense by Erne Lewis. It is rated 4 ½ stars on Amazon and is available for $ 2.01 used, $9.93 new and $ 4.99 on Kindle. Mr Lewis leans farther toward the Libertarian side than I do but this work is something every American should read. A brilliant political thriller that does not get into the"Liberals and idiots" or the "Conservatives have their heads up their ...". He just points out that we have been duped.

The only real flaw I see is that he professes that this is happening 10 years in the future, I think that he miscalculated by about 7 years. Below is a clip from Amazon.

I hope you will enjoy. Please realize that when it comes in you will loose a day from your life. I read it from start to finish in a day except for the last few pages which I restrained myself and read over a few days savoring it like a good Scotch or glass of wine.

If our right to own ourselves and make our own choices—our liberties—are diminishing with every year, how do we ever regain them? Is deadly force justified? even in self-defense? The article thinks the shutdown is "permanent" ...I think this is a very real possibility...

If we could only be so lucky. This article is just fear though, even if we were to default, all we would have to pay is the 8% interest and stop borrowing just like when you credit card is maxed out and no bank will give you a new loan. It's really just all political bull****.

If he is impeached, it will be after he's left office like G Bush was in 2008 (from memory).

To impeach, in the formal legal definition, is to charge a public official with improper conduct in office before a proper tribunal. One cannot impeach a private citizen or a former public official.

George Bush was never impeached, and, if my understanding is correct, no US public official has ever been impeached after leaving office, by definition of the word "impeached".

I was speaking "off the cuff" as I didn't have time that day to fully research everything in this thread. However, Congressman Dennis Kucinich, read at length 35 articles of impeachment in June 2008 to the U.S. House of Representatives. No impeachment ever took place and Bush left office In January 2009. So I was incorrect saying Bush was impeached "after" he left office.

My point was that things like Courts and Jails are only for the citizens, while the elite will always find ways to "get away" with their "crimes."

The Obama administration on Friday once again disrespected the Constitution by signing an executive order that circumvents Congress and the American people.

The latest move defiantly ignores a decision by Congress in 2009 to not establish a cap-and-trade system that would have supposedly discouraged greenhouse-gas emissions. The Waxman-Markey bill passed the House but was defeated in the Senate. At the time, Democrats controlled both houses of Congress.

The latest unconstitutional EO establishes a task force of state and local officials “to advise the administration on how to respond to severe storms, wildfires, droughts and other potential impacts of climate change.” according to Fox News.

The EO lumps extreme weather events under the discredited rubric of climate change. It will mandate new federal building codes under Agenda 21′s “sustainability” and promises to “address climate impacts and infrastructure needs.” The order was praised by the EPA and its administrator, Gina McCarthy, who said it serves as a “roadmap for agency work” and forces the nation to face what it deems are “climate-related challenges.”

The EO will withhold money expropriated by the federal government from the states if they do not sign on to the latest climate scam proposals. It will “bring sweeping new changes to land use and resource policies,” “refocus of climate change data and use of it to push a new agenda into every priority of the federal government,” and, importantly, make policies immune to challenge by establishing “a new internal organization for coordination efforts during a government sequestration and possible future shutdowns.”

A study released last year debunked Al Gore’s “hockey stick” graph on warming and states that the statistical outcomes on climate change produced by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and associated organizations are “quite wrong.”

Data compiled by NASA’s Langley Research Center earlier this year, writes Ethan A. Huff for Natural News, reveals that “all those atmospheric greenhouse gases that Al Gore and all the other global warming hoaxers have long claimed are overheating and destroying our planet are actually cooling it.”

Article I Section I of the Constitution unambiguously states that Congress, not the executive, has legislative power. An executive order is not lawful legislation.

“An Executive Order is a policy or procedure issued by the President that is a regulation that applies only to employees of the Executive Branch of government,” notes the Tenth Amendment Center. “When a President issues an unconstitutional Executive Order and Congress allows the order to stand they are violating their oath to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution.”

The Fed's contract is not up ... no renewal necessary. The stories I've seen claiming that the Fed had an expiring contract confused me. Perhaps it did once, but got it changed to an eternal contract.

I agree Rocky I post a lot of RT reports and am aware that they have been very
clever filling a niche between the alternative Alex Jones, David Ice sphere
and the corporate mainstream. They have a good balance of intelligent
male ,female news readers and reporter/Journalists and report on all the
events the mainstream owners tell there outlets to ignore.

A few like the Mail & Guardian seem to be joining more and reporting
events like Bilderberg. Channell 4 news has been good on certain events.
The BBC are better than you would think but a lot is buried in the web
site and you have to look for it, and less is actually reported on the TV
news itself though some of the radio shows go into detail on some subjects.

I do post from other outlets around the world but these are more sporadic.

But we still must try and balance whatever news reports or articles we read/post
imo.

I was very positively impressed by this interview with Steven Seagal. He had all the right answers, IMO. Genuine. Maybe pulled a few punches with his statements, and maybe that was appropriate for the general audience.

I like this guy. Must watch more of his movies.
