Dear Ulli,
that is a very nice pic; your parents look happy and proud. I think (respectfully, kindly) most of us have regrets after our parents pass, I know I do. I helped mum care for dad (blind, deaf, couldn't speak) for a lot of years before he left. We exhausted ourselves, but still there are times when I wish I had done more for him. I think it is human nature to have these kind of feelings.

Nice cut on what appears to be a leather jacket. Good design in leather coats is a under appreciated art. (at least by some, who have no idea what it takes to make one look 'right')

Nice cut on what appears to be a leather jacket. Good design in leather coats is a under appreciated art. (at least by some, who have no idea what it takes to make one look 'right')

I got that jacket at my last job, before going out on my own as a knitwear designer.
That job was at a tiny stall in the old Kensington Market in London.
My boss was Ken Calder, a Scotsman, and his stall was called Ruskin,
he worked in leather, suede and snakeskin, as well as made-to-measure boots
for the high-heeled rockstars.
My clients were people like Noel Redding, who was Jimi Hendrix' bass player,
and many other lesser known rock musicians.
Our next door neighbor was Freddy Mercury,
who started his band Queen around the same time I left that job.

Yep, I recognize a good design in leather jackets, from a mile away. I like them, but it is near impossible to find one that is done right. First, it seems to be a case of paying for the best large pieces. Then, the right weight and the right curing, the right blend of softness and strength. Then comes the design, to cut those premium components into a mix of seams/lines which works best. So, my experience, is one can go into a shop which is just leather jackets, and find maybe one or two acceptable designs, out of possible hundreds. It does not necessarily have to be very expensive, just done right. To be classic, and sublime, to ride in the backdrop, as an understated piece of perfection...not outre'/creative.

Found a jacket of Kens (Aeroleather) on Ebay...normally they sell for $800+.
This one is under $400 but has not yet met the reserve.
