Last week I saw our gardener walk with a herbicide tank on his back, spraying, and so I asked my husband why he was still using Roundup when I had warned against it ages ago. My husband replied he had told him not to use it any more, several times.
So I had to confront the man myself, why was he still continuing when he had been told not to.
His answer was that it was just the leftovers he was using. I told him not to use it, but throw it away.
He back-talked some more, saying that the trimmer didnt get the weeds on our cobble stone path, and I had to tell him that it didnt matter if some green showed up there, and that his health, our health and the planet's health were more important. He then asked where to dump it ( here nothing which costs money gets dumped) I said 'somewhere where it can do no harm, maybe the cesspit.
Anyway, once routines are established to make even the smallest change is like hitting a wall.
Wondering if it's not too late now....

Thank you Dennis, I don’t disagree with anything you say. I’ve made my point and won’t labour it further. We are not where we need to be, and have different not necessarily incompatible perspectives and ideas on how to move forward, if that is possible; I think it is.

What to do with unwanted Roundup? Good question. What to do with weeds in a path? That’s easier. Boiling water; or seawater I am told.

I'm much closer to Carmody's feelings about competitive sports in general, but exponentially moreso with watching professional sports. I consider professional sports as a powerful opiate to the masses, a major circus in the "bread and circuses" used to manipulate us into complacency with the status quo - or worse, to make us accept competitive outcomes (a few winners, many losers) as natural and normal and positive.

    Dennis
I watched a documentary years ago about when it was decided that each city would get a major league team as well as a stadium, for bread and circus, most of which came out of the New Deal 80 years ago and the social engineering of Edward Bernays.

Yet, bread and circus has been around since Rome, and so has slavery and control, all based on a paradigm of scarcity. Therefore, to compete for scarce resources, and survival of the fittest based on competition, rewards and punishments for revered or abhorrent social behaviors, peer pressure, the games were developed to show how the most revered classes in our society are the athletes and movie stars.

They get paid unholy gargantuan amounts of money to parade in front of the camera and keep the social programming in place, and we are told that we too can ascribe to becoming filthy rich and beautiful if we just try hard and follow all the rules of competitiveness, and then compassion for no child left behind who is less fortunate.

A good movie to watch which illustrates this is "Gladiator"

...and isn't it wonderful that about every 3rd or 4th ad on television is militarily themed at gametime!

Six kids on a bean buggy 1982 spraying weeds in a midwestern soybean field with a hand held industrial squirt gun dripping round up on our skin ,inhaling mist all day.I asked the farmer if it was ok to have the liquid on our skin,he said don't worry it's just round up.I was 12 ,the 3.00 dollars per hour was a windfall,we were all misinformed .Back then we would say dump it on the weeds!

Good One...had to share Here and Now

    .......
“I was so shocked. That was the first time I was brought face to face with what is done here to people exhibiting the same symptoms I’ve seen in my village.” What struck Dr. Somé was that the attention given to such symptoms was based on pathology, on the idea that the condition is something that needs to stop. This was in complete opposition to the way his culture views such a situation. As he looked around the stark ward at the patients, some in straitjackets, some zoned out on medications, others screaming, he observed to himself, “So this is how the healers who are attempting to be born are treated in this culture. What a loss! What a loss that a person who is finally being aligned with a power from the other world is just being wasted.”

Another way to say this, which may make more sense to the Western mind, is that we in the West are not trained in how to deal or even taught to acknowledge the existence of psychic phenomena, the spiritual world. In fact, psychic abilities are denigrated. When energies from the spiritual world emerge in a Western psyche, that individual is completely unequipped to integrate them or even recognize what is happening. The result can be terrifying. Without the proper context for and assistance in dealing with the breakthrough from another level of reality, for all practical purposes, the person is insane. Heavy dosing with anti-psychotic drugs compounds the problem and prevents the integration that could lead to soul development and growth in the individual who has received these energies.

I've said the same thing, for a long time. Some of our best are inside of asylums.

Because it is suppressed, held down, subjugated, ridiculed, etc..we get the badly formed protrusion, in mirror-reverse.

Like the hard core catholic with the closet full of pornography and whips, like the buttoned downed Japanese tightness and correctness, with it's wild sexual excesses.

We get witchcraft, satanism, paganism, cults, and so on.

When in fact, it is merely ---people... nothing more and nothing less..... just People and life.

There is currently an exhibition on at the Musée d’Orsay in Paris on the subject of ‘insanity’ in art, based on the writings of Antonin Artaud, himself a psychiatric case .
Quote Artaud was incensed by Beer's clinical portrayal of the painter's madness and challenged this analysis, accusing society as a whole of driving Van Gogh to suicide by its indifference or in order to "prevent him from uttering unspeakable truths".
"Van Gogh therefore committed suicide because the collective consciousness as a whole could no longer tolerate him".
    http://www.musee-orsay.fr/en/events/exhibitions/in-the-musee-dorsay/exhibitions-in-the-musee-dorsay-more/article/van-gogh-artaud-37162.html?tx_ttnews[backPid]=649&cHash=30091f1792

The value of Avalon and many others is safety in numbers: creating an alternative collective consciousness strong enough to resist what is not a suicidal urge per se, more like the rejection of transplanted tissue.

And of course, as we saw below, not only are the wrong people often locked, those that need to be are not.

The refusal to face and integrate one's shadow personalities leads to the hypocracy of the so-called normal person,
and their repression of that part of themselves then manifests or emerges in the behavior patterns of the more sensitive family members who are less hypocritical, and are not as adept at hiding their feelings.

So then you have moved from the divided self to the divided family. The next division level is then the split of the generations, and so you get a divided community. Then the bureaucrats compulsive need for order makes them form all sorts of societal structures, like religious congregations and clubs, and then you have the "believer" versus the "non-believer", or infidel.
At the national level you also have the split between rich and poor, and racism. And globally you have the first (western) world on one extreme and third world on the other.
To integrate opposites means to strive for balance, and an understanding of the needs of all sides.

Yes, but then they come up against decent human beings who use their religious congregations to spread loving community values, and their clubs (including professional sports clubs) to spread the message that unity and solidarity wins out every time against divisiveness, individualism and rivalry. The idea of using the herd instinct to divide the so-called sheeple was an elementary, major, fatal mistake because, whatever the quality, maturity or whatever of the individuals involved, humanity as a collective is, unlike the banks, genuinely too big to fail. This is precisely how and why a herd works.

    ...and 'they' know that, too.
Which is why there is so much effort placed in keeping the disinformation coming.

The consciousness which determines the final positive outcome is the one which has the least need for external rituals,
or even formal training, but relies primarily on solidarity, intuition and faith.

Must be the reincarnation of Sonny Liston. Funny.

The construction of the guest cottage is progressing well. Will post pickies soon.
When I saw this on Pinterest tonight I realized it was a glimpse of what the view would be like six months from now.

That's funny, Carmody. Boxing cat has gotten almost 2,400,000 hits. At the end of the video it says: "Gizmo passed away May 1, 2011. He was 12 years old."
