    ................
There are people, events and places that are so grand in their scale or so unusual in their nature that when encountered they evoke a sense of sacred reverence . . . however, the people I’ve found to be most evolved are those who regard all of existence as holy. It’s easy to kneel before a temple, or a saint, or a majestic scene. But to observe a tree, an ordinary stone, or a family of strangers in a restaurant and quietly honor their presence in your heart is a completely different level of being. Einstein said, “there are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.” And so it is that we approach and enter the miraculous sacredness of our own divinity. (Paul Bond)

“Nature’s Firefall” is a rare photograph of Horsetail Falls in Yosemite at Sunset in winter by John Harrison, http://www.jharrisonphoto.com. This is nature’s version of the old man-made Yosemite Fire Fall.During the winter in Yosemite, coming off of El Capitan, there is an almost non-existent waterfall called “Horsetail Falls.” Many maps don’t even have it marked. During the last two weeks in February, IF there is water trickling over the edge, and IF it is clear at sunset (which doesn’t happen too often due to the winter storms) the setting sun will turn this waterfall into a stream of molten fire. The waterfall lights up like molten lava due to the angle of the sun. Inspired by Galen Rowell, many photographers have chased this elusive photo opportunity. John spent two evenings in a foot of snow in the middle of meadow trying to get the shot. The first evening was an absolute bust as it had been clear all day and at sunset the clouds hung over the peak. Luckily he captured his photograph titled “Full Moon over Half Dome”. The next evening everything worked out for this stunning shot.

Terence McKenna said: "Every model of the universe is hard to swallow. There's always a place where the argument cannot hide the fact that there's something slightly fishy about it. The hard-to-swallow part that's built into science is the big bang."

"This is the notion that the universe, for no reason, sprang from nothing in a single instant. Before we dissect this, notice that this is the limit test for credulity. Whether you believe this or not, notice that it is not possible to conceive of something more unlikely, or less likely to be believed. I defy anyone. It's just the limit case for unlikelihood: that the universe would spring from nothing in a single instant for no reason. It makes no sense. It is in fact no different than saying, 'And then God said, "Let there be light!"'

"What the philosophers of science are saying is, 'Give us one free miracle and we will roll from that point forward, from the birth of time to the crack of doom. Just one free miracle and then it will all unravel according to natural law and these bizarre equations which nobody can understand but which are so holy in this enterprise.'

"Well I say, then if science gets one free miracle then everybody gets one free miracle."

Default Being in the Zone; the Flow State

"Being in the Zone; the Flow State"
A remix to the "Effortless Effort" of Joeecho & Guish shared in Post #1767

"This state of virtuosity and enhanced performance among artists and musicians and writers and elite athletes. They go into this zone where they experience this transient, hypofrontality, this temporary moment where the ego dissolves. You get sort of hyper-focused in what you're doing. You drop into Theta states like meditating monks and you're able to achieve excellence and virtuosity that exceeds normal human levels and thresholds for what's possible. We transcend ourselves in these moments of flow."

The Claremont Graduate University Psychology professor, Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi offers his thoughts on how to 'Be in the Zone or enter the Flow State'. Through his observations he suggests the Flow State is best arrived at when experiencing either the Arousal or Control stage (whilst carrying out a task). To enter Flow from the Arousal stage one need only improve their skill levels; while from the Control stage, you would have to increase current task load.

Arousal is still good because you are over-challenged there. Your skills are not quite as high as they should be, but you can move into Flow fairly easily by just developing a little more skill. So, arousal is the area where most people learn from, because that's where they're pushed beyond their comfort zone and to enter that -- going back to flow -- then they develop higher skills. Control is also a good place to be, because there you feel comfortable, but not very excited. It's not very challenging any more. And if you want to enter flow from control, you have to increase the challenges. So those two are ideal and complementary areas from which flow is easy to go into.

J, the quote above is as good as Buddha's teaching. I was talking to a Friend yesterday and he mentioned about the importance of stress to keep things going and not get bored. He is of the same age as you and joined our school because his older one became boring. I replied by saying that there's something else, another stage called "Effortless Effort" and that's what is the aim.
"Effortless Effort", that is an excellent term. I will do my utmost effort to arrive at "Effortless Effort"!

In sports I believe that is what is referred to as "being in the zone".

"Who possesses complete independence? Who has all the freedom he wants? Who is able to make his choices freely, unaffected by his circumstances, by social pressure, by events, or by heredity? The answer, of course, is no one. But, to the extent that anyone learns to control his thoughts,
to become master of himself, he begins to control his fate."
