Officials from the charity, also known as Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF), have said that the bombing attack lasted over an hour, leading to suggestions that it was the legitimate target of the US airstrike.

According to a report by AP, a former intelligence official familiar with the details of the incident said that American analysts were scrutinizing the hospital before it was destroyed amid fears the site was being used a base for Taliban operatives.
US officials weren't aware of the media reports, while MSF General Director Christopher Stokes denied any suggestions that armed Taliban forces were present on the hospital site.
"The compound was not entered by Taliban soldiers with weapons.

On Tuesday we learn that yet another Doctors Without Borders facility has been bombed, this time in Saada, Yemen. As Reuters reports, Saudi warplanes apparently “destroyed the entire hospital with all that was inside.” Here’s more:

A Yemeni hospital run by medical aid group Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) was hit by a Saudi-led air strike, the group said on Tuesday, the latest bombing of a civilian target in the seven-month air campaign in Yemen.

"MSF facility in Saada Yemen was hit by several air strikes last night with patients and staff inside the facility," the group said in a tweet on Tuesday.

Yemen's state news agency Saba, run the Iran-allied Houthi group that is the coalition's enemy, quoted the Heedan hospital director saying that several people were injured in the attack.

"The air raids resulted in the destruction of the entire hospital with all that was inside - devices and medical supplies - and the moderate wounding of several people," Doctor Ali Mughli said.

Christopher Stokes, the general director of the Paris-based charity group,
made the comments during a Thursday event to release a report based

“The view from inside the hospital is that this attack was conducted with

‘The medical humanitarian organization Doctors Without Borders released
its internal report on Thursday about the October attack on its hospital in
Kunduz, Afghanistan, and again cast doubt on the U.S. government’s
insistence that the attack was not intentional.

The report, which found that the U.S.-led attack killed at least 30 people,
describes in brutal detail the severity of the attack, noting that “patients
burned in their beds” and that “medical staff were decapitated and lost limbs.”

The organization found that people were also killed while trying to flee the scene.

For example, the report noted that “a patient in a wheelchair attempting to
escape from the inpatient department … was killed by shrapnel from a blast.”

It also revealed that U.S. planes shot at staff members fleeing the hospital.’
