Another wave of escalation between the Mali’s army and northern Tuareg rebels. Fierce fighting broke out on September 17, with the rebels claiming to have taken control of two army bases in the town of Lere, located west of Timbuktu near the border of Mauritania.

The rebel alliance, called the Coordination of Azawad Movements (CMA), has been fighting the army since August.

“CMA took control of the two camps in Lere,” said CMA spokesman.

Mali’s armed forces confirmed that an attack took place in Lere and that a response was under way.

A Chinese-made Norinco VP11 MRAP of FAMa was among the vehicles destroyed by the so-called Azawad militants during the seizure of the Léré military base. China delivered dozens of these armored vehicles to the Mali’s military in March this year.

The Malian government also issued a statement, confirming the explosion of two suicide vehicles in Gao city on Friday. According to the official government statement, in these attacks, 64 people, including 49 civilians and 15 military personnel, lost their lives.

In response to the heavy casualties from this crime, the government declared three days of national mourning. The Malian government also announced that in retaliation for the terrorists’ attack, government forces have killed 50 militants in a ground and air operation.

The Az-Zallaqa Institution also reported mortar attacks on Timbuktu Airport in the center of Mali on Monday, September 11 and 14. This attack caused damages to the airport and suspended the flights.

Az-Zallaqa also published a video of the wreckage of a Mi-8 helicopter allegedly belonging to the Wagner PMC or the Malian Army, which was shot down by JNIM elements on September 8 in Segou district. According to Az-Zallaqa, several Wagner PMC forces were killed and wounded.

According to Az-Zallaqa, elements of this group clashed with Wagner PMC forces the next day at the same spot and disabled another helicopter.

Security Service alleges coup

On the morning of September 18, the Georgian Security Service issued a statement saying that there are plans to repeat the Ukrainian Euromaidan in Georgia.

According to the SBG, behind this plan are “certain groups of individuals acting on the territory of Georgia and beyond its borders,” specifically ethnic Georgians working in the Ukrainian government and residing in Ukraine. The statement mentions three people:

Giorgi Lortkipanidze, deputy head of Ukraine’s military intelligence, who was deputy interior minister under Saakashvili’s government, is named as the author of the plan. A former security guard of ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili, Mikhail Baturin, is also mentioned. Another figure is Mamuka Mamulashvili, a member of Saakashvili’s closest entourage and commander of the Georgian Legion operating in Ukraine.

According to the SBG, the training of young people who will take part in the riots is taking place near the border with Poland:

“According to confirmed and verified information, the plan developed by Lortkipanidze is to use a rather large group of persons of Georgian origin fighting in Ukraine and a part of Georgian youth under the influence of interested parties, whose training is being conducted near the Polish-Ukrainian state border.”

The agency also names several Ukrainian organizations, which, according to its information, are also involved in the process:

“To prepare youth groups for use in the revolutionary scenario, the Kanvas organization is used, the core of which is the Otpor organization. These are the organizations that took active part in the revolutionary processes that unfolded in Serbia in the past, and, accordingly, are regularly used in different countries to train young people and involve them in destructive processes.”

According to the Georgian security service, all these individuals and people close to them are planning to stage mass riots in October-December. “The ultimate goal of this is to change the government by violent methods.”

October-December were not randomly chosen as the date for the start of destructive processes, the statement goes on, as this is the period when the interim and final conclusions of the European Commission [on Georgia’s obtaining the status of an EU candidate country] are to be published.

“The expectation of the conspirators preparing for the overthrow of state power is calculated that the published conclusion will be negative, which, with the information networks at their disposal, artificially attached to the government with the slogan of ‘pro-Russianity’, will create fertile ground for public unrest and further disturbances.”

“As for the scenario, according to the information of the SGB, several scenarios for the development of events are being considered, including the creation of the so-called “tent city”, erection of barricades on the central avenues and near strategic objects of Georgia, occupation and barricading of government buildings, as well as other illegal actions containing elements of serious provocation. In particular, it is confirmed that the organizers are considering the possibility of repeating in Georgia the Euromaidan that took place in Ukraine in 2014.”

The statement also stressed that this plan was planned with the coordination and financial support of foreign countries.

Associate Professor of Ilia State University Giorgi Meladze responds to the statement of SBG that the group “Kanvas” is engaged in preparing young people for such an event.

According to the director of “Kanvas”, no coup d’état is planned by the group, and the purpose of SBG is to intimidate people.

“SBG talks about coups… Which it always does, but this time it is adding the Kanwas organization to all this. I am currently the director of Kanvas-Georgia and I am not planning any coup. The only purpose of the statement is to intimidate people!

Last year, the European Union granted EU candidate status to Ukraine and Moldova, while Georgia was given 12 preconditions that the country can expect to fulfill. In October 2023, it will be known whether the European Commission will make a recommendation on granting Georgia EU candidate status. After the European Commission’s conclusion, by the end of 2023, European Council leaders will assess the progress of Georgia and other countries.

Russia boosting hypersonic missile production – Rostec 19 Sep, 2023

Moscow has utilized the Kinzhal missile, believed to be able to penetrate any existing air defenses, in its conflict with Kiev

Russia’s Rostec has ramped up the production of hypersonic Kinzhal (Dagger) missiles, the defense conglomerate’s industrial director Bekhan Ozdoev has revealed. He added that the amount of other types of military hardware and munitions being churned out has also increased dramatically.

On Tuesday, Interfax quoted Ozdoev as saying that the figures for certain munitions have risen up to ten-fold. He noted that “among other things, the production of missiles for the ‘Kinzhal,’ ‘Iskander,’ and ‘Pantsir’ systems, aerial bombs, artillery and tank shells is being ramped up.”

According to Ozdoev, Russian defense manufacturers are making more and more tanks, armored vehicles and multiple launch rocket systems. The director added that there are also plans to increase the production of military drones, with work ongoing on the development of guided artillery munitions.

Back in July, Rostec deputy CEO Vladimir Artyakov said that the state-owned company had “moved to serial production in earnest” of Kinzhal missiles, which had previously been limited by a need to “fully complete the research and development.”

The Kinzhal has been in service with the Russian military since 2017. The missile can travel at a speed of up to Mach 12 (around 14,800 kph), while constantly performing evasive maneuvers, which is believed to allow it to penetrate any existing air defenses.

Russia has made use of Kinzhals on a number of occasions during its conflict with Ukraine.

Kiev has claimed that US-supplied Patriot batteries are capable of intercepting Russian hypersonic missiles, and have done so more than once.

The Russian defense ministry, in turn, has said that the number of intercepts alleged by Ukraine is higher than the number of such missiles actually fired by Moscow’s forces during the conflict.

Ukraine’s Air Defense Missiles Will Continue Falling on Civilians: Here’s Why 6 hours ago



An expose in America’s main “newspaper of record” has revealed that Ukraine, not Russia, was to blame for the deadly September 6 missile strike on a market in the Ukrainian-controlled town of Konstantinovka in the Donetsk region. Veteran Russian military observer Alexey Leonkov told Sputnik why the incident won’t be the last of its kind.

The New York Times unexpectedly put a spoke in Volodymyr Zelensky’s wheels shortly before the Ukrainian president’s arrival in the US to meet with senior officials and take part in the UN General Assembly.
In an investigative report featuring video footage, witness testimony, satellite imagery, and other evidence, the newspaper concluded that the deadly missile strike on a market in the town of Konstantinovka, Donetsk that killed at least 15 civilians and injured over 30 others was likely caused by Ukraine, not Russia, as was claimed by officials in Kiev and a number of Western capitals.

The outlet indicated that evidence on the ground indicated that an “errant” Ukrainian Buk anti-air missile system was responsible for the carnage, and pointed out that Ukrainian officials had seemingly deliberately tried to cover up the facts from media in the attack’s immediate aftermath, requiring journalists to do some sleuthing to get to the bottom of what actually occurred.

The mainstream media report was unusual in its bold decision to stray from the traditional narrative on Russia’s military operation in Ukraine, which typically blames Moscow for a long list of tragedies and crimes involving civilians.

Not the First, Won’t Be the Last

The September 6 incident in Konstantinovka wasn’t the first incident of its kind, and given the air defense strategy adopted by Ukraine’s military, and the technical means at its disposal, it won’t be the last, Alexey Leonkov, a veteran Russian military analyst and editor of Arsenal of the Fatherland, a Russian military affairs magazine, told Sputnik.

This is a common problem for Ukraine’s air defense strategy, the observer said, pointing out the regular occurrence with which Ukrainian anti-aircraft rockets crash into residential areas and high-rise buildings, causing damage and casualties among civilians.
Worse yet, he noted, Ukraine has been running low on munitions for its air defenses, leaving them scraping the bottom of the barrel and turning to older, Soviet-made Buk and S-300 missiles which are long past their "use by" date.

This is taking place “because there is no localized production [of air defense missiles] in Ukraine. There is no localized production in Eastern European countries, either. Therefore, the preparation of these missiles for launch is conducted using whatever means they have, using logic they understand. And very often, rockets end up flying to the wrong place, to Poland and so on,” Leonkov noted, recalling the November 2022 incident in which a Ukrainian S-300 flew into Poland and killed two people, briefly bringing NATO and Russia to the brink of war as Kiev falsely blamed Moscow.
In Konstantinovka, the observer noted, the Soviet-era Buk M1 surface-to-air missile was unwittingly turned into a surface-to-surface missile, culminating in the tragedy.

Russian Fleet Conducts Drills to Protect the Northern Sea Route Published 19 September 202



Russia also announced its decision to withdraw from the Barents Euro-Arctic Council.

On Monday, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that Russia's Pacific Fleet is holding tactical military exercises aimed at protecting the Northern Sea Route.

The "Finval-2023" exercises are taking place in the waters of the Chukchi and Bering Seas as well as on the Chukotka Peninsula, according to the defense ministry.

Around 10,000 military personnel and more than 50 units of military equipment are involved in the exercises, it said. Among those are naval aircraft and helicopters, and coastal defense missile systems.

During the first phase of the drills, Russian forces conducted combat exercises that focused on defeating a group of ships in the northeastern part of the Bering Sea. Military personnel practiced conducting missile strikes from a guided-missile cruiser, a nuclear submarine, and a coastal defense missile system.

The drills also involved missile and artillery firing, as well as exercises on anti-submarine, anti-aircraft and anti-landing defense.

All of the exercises "are defensive in nature" and intended to improve "the training of forces and troops" during operations on Russia's northeastern borders, according to the ministry.

On Monday, the Russian Foreign Affairs Ministry announced that Russia has made the decision to withdraw from the Barents Euro-Arctic Council (BEAC).

The BEAC "has been a useful and effective format for cross-border interaction" throughout 30 years, and has contributed to the maintenance of peace and stability in the North.

In Russia, news of the European Commission’s clarifications on the import of sanctioned goods by our citizens has caused a stir.

Now it appears that a notional Russian entering an EU country may lose more than just their car. They may also have their mobile phones, cameras, toilet paper, precious metal products, cigarettes, cosmetics, soap, suitcases and bags confiscated. And, if applicable, women’s clothing and other items.

In other words, customs officers have the power to literally strip Russians crossing the border. So far, this has not happened. But it cannot be ruled out.

As part of its sanctions policy against Moscow over the conflict in Ukraine, Brussels has banned the import of a wide range of Russian goods. These include a number of items for personal use. In July 2023, there were the first signs that such items might be confiscated by customs. At the time, it was the cars of Russians that were detained by German officers. The European Commission (EC) subsequently clarified the EU’s approach to German law enforcement: The import of sanctioned goods is prohibited, even if they are for personal use.

If this interpretation is applied to the letter, the targets could become absurd.

Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky has fired all six of his deputy defence ministers with no explanation weeks after dismissing his top defence minister go.

Ukraine‘s cabinet said that the decision was made today, according to a post that revealed the mass dismissal.

No explanation was given as to why Vladimir Gavrilov, 65, Rostyslav Zamlynskii, 47, Hanna Maliar, 45, Denis Sharapov, 50, Vitalii Deineha, and Kostiantyn Vashchenko, 50, were all dismissed.

But the move comes just two weeks after Zelensky fired his wartime defence chief amid allegations of graft and corruption.

Oleksii Reznikov’s tenure at Ukraine’s wartime defence chief was marred by serious allegations of graft, which he denied.

He was accused of signing off on a deal with a Turkish company for winter uniforms that were ‘tripled’ in value.

Ukrainian journalists also proved that the military uniforms could’ve been bought at a significant lowered price.

He said in response to the allegations at the time: ‘I urge everyone to treat information more critically and responsibly, because it misleads society and, worse still, it misleads our partners, as from outside you’d say it is a disaster.

‘Everything was done in accordance with the law on public procurement… [and ‘via tender procedures.’

Reznikov was also mired by a top-level graft investigation, which alleged that Ukraine’s defence ministry had signed off on a food and catering contract worth 13 billion hryvnias (£278 million) that was hugely inflated.

While Reznikov did not personally sign off on this deal, critics said he was ultimately responsible, and pointed to his zero-tolerance policy on corruption.

He admitted at the time that his ministry’s anti-corruption services ‘failed in their task.’

Ukraine has been cracking down on wartime corruption severely, with President Zelensky moving to equate it to treason in recent weeks, amid a rising number of Ukrainians believing he is responsible for the ongoing corruption in the country.

Lobaev Arms, a Russian manufacturer of precision long-range rifles, has announced that it has begun testing hypersonic bullets.

Hypersonic sniper projectiles are capable of reaching speeds of over 1,500 meters per second, said Vladislav Lobaev, director of Lobaev Arms, quoted by the Eurasian Times.

He explained that the munitions are still called "potentially hypersonic" because they are "on the edge" of hypersonic speed.

"We can produce them in a near-hypersonic version, or actually go hypersonic." We will make this decision based on the test results when the mass of the production product is determined. A hypersonic bullet has a speed of over 1,500 m/s (over Mach 5), while a high-velocity sniper bullet is a bullet traveling at a speed of 900 m/s," the arms manufacturer explained.

Lobaev first made headlines in September 2018 when he set out to develop small arms ammunition with a velocity of 2,000 m/s. He explained then that such ammunition is necessary for high-precision sniper weapons, which provide a greater range of the so-called. floor shooting - shooting approximately parallel and no more than 1 meter above the ground. Lobaev noted that the new ammunition will no longer be filled with gunpowder, but with detonating chemicals of a special composition.

Why does a sniper need high velocity or hypersonic projectiles? The bottom line is that snipers must consider a number of external ballistic factors such as range to the target, wind direction and speed, altitude, air density and temperature in order to maximize accuracy. A high-velocity or hypersonic bullet minimizes the impact of external factors.

Lobaev explained that the company had previously suspended the hypersonic munitions project due to the need to increase the mass production of existing weapons under state defense procurement plans. Work on hypersonic munitions has resumed as the Ukrainian military has begun using new 10x100mm caliber munitions on the battlefield, developed by Blackwater Ammunition.

"These projectiles are particularly dangerous because they could penetrate personal armor protection at a distance of 1.7-1.8 km without using an armor-piercing bullet," Lobaev said. This was the reason his company renewed its hypersonic project and began testing.

I have a proxy and found out now that UK also does not load it. Strangely US loads it and so does Netherlands.

So has parts of the EU (at least DE and UK) blocked RT entirely? (I have not been reading RT for a very long time, so I just wonder now).

Same here (France) where most Media from Russia (RT, Sputnik, etc...) are banned... part of the reason Rumble isn't accessible to French IPs... so, a VPN helps.
