Islamic Resistance in Lebanon continue operations against 'Israel'

The Lebanese Islamic Resistance - Hezbollah announced Wednesday that its fighters targeted the Israeli occupation forces' "Bayad Blida" site earlier in the day using target-specific weaponry, inflicting casualties on the IOF.

They also announced targeting the newly established command headquarters of the "Zarit" battalion, along with its vehicles and forces in Khallet Warda with artillery and missiles.

The Islamic Resistance said the offensive resulted in numerous casualties for the Israeli occupation force.

The Resistance fighters also targeted the Hadb Al-Bustan site with artillery shells, causing direct casualties.

The Islamic Resistance in Lebanon, Hezbollah, announced that its fighters targeted an Israeli occupation force on Tuesday noon, killing and injuring all of its members.

The Resistance monitored an occupation force that had set up an ambush near al-Aasi military site and later targeted the force with anti-tank guided missiles, dealing direct hits to all of the force's members.

Hezbollah carried on its operation near the Lebanese-Palestinian forces on Tuesday, announcing that its fighters targeted al-Marj military at 2:15 PM (local time) sites in northern occupied Palestine, destroying military-grade equipment.

Just 15 minutes later Hezbollah fired an ATGM at an Israeli Merkava tank in the vicinity of the "Branit" Barracks, destroying the armored vehicles and dealing casualties among its crew members.

At 4:00 PM (local time) the Resistance targeted an Israeli occupation infantry force near the al-Jerdah military sites with artillery shells, confirming direct hits.

The Islamic Resistance in Lebanon has been carrying out operations in support of the Palestinian Resistance in Gaza, after "Israel" launched an indiscriminate aggression on the Gaza Strip.

Today's operations reaffirm Hezbollah's efforts to limit the movement of occupation forces along the Lebanese-Palestinian border.

On Monday, the group carried out wide-scale attacks along the entirety of the Lebanese-Palestinian border targeting the occupation's spyware, surveillance systems, fortifications, and garrisons.

Turkey, Iran propose regional conference to prevent further escalation

Turkey and Iran on Wednesday jointly presented a proposal for a regional conference aimed at preventing further escalation in the war in Gaza.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan engaged in discussions with his Iranian counterpart, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, a day after Iran's top diplomat had talks with Hamas leaders in Qatar.

Iran has previously warned that resistance groups in the region might potentially join the battle in support of Gaza in response to the ongoing Israeli genocide of the people of Gaza.

Fidan underscored Turkey's stance, advocating for an immediate ceasefire. He emphasized that, without a lasting resolution to the conflict, it is not difficult to predict that the cycle of violence will persist and intensify.

"We do not want the human tragedy in Gaza to turn into a war that affects the region's countries," Fidan said, adding that the Iranian foreign minister "shared with us that there are strong indications that other armed elements in the region may intervene in the conflict if conditions do not change."

"A ceasefire and peace have become more essential."

Amir-Abdollahian proposed the organization of a peace conference involving "Muslim and Arab" nations as a matter of urgency.

He also urged the Muslim world to boycott Israeli products in response to the ongoing genocide.

Following these statements, the Iranian diplomat held a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara.

"If the war against the defenseless people of Gaza is not stopped immediately, there is a risk of expanding the scope of war and conflict in the region at any moment," he said in a statement issued by the Iranian foreign ministry.

"It is necessary for Islamic countries to take immediate and effective action to end the war crimes of the Zionist regime, lift the siege of Gaza, and send humanitarian aid, and in this regard, the Islamic Republic of Iran emphasizes the necessity of holding an urgent meeting of heads of Islamic and Arab countries," he added.

The Gaza Strip has been under constant attacks by Israeli forces since October 7, which led to the murder of more than 8,700 people and the injury of 25,000 civilians, according to official numbers.

According to the Palestinian health ministry, the Israeli aggression has resulted in more than 8,796 casualties, with around two-thirds of them being women and children.

LEADERS HAVE GIVEN INTERVIEWS TO ISRAELI
PUBLICATIONS THAT WOULD HAVE LANDED SECULARIST
LEADERS IN DETENTION. WE BELIEVE THAT, WHILE
ISRAELI FORCES MAY BE TURNING A BLIND EYE TO
HAMAS ACTIVITIES, THERE IS INSUFFICIENT EVIDENCE
TO CONCLUDE THAT ISRAEL IS PROVIDING ACTIVE
SUPPORT.

HAMAS--RELATIONSHIP WITH THE INTIFADA LEADERSHIP

21. HAMAS' FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES, AS SET OUT
IN ITS AUGUST 18 CHARTER (REF B), PUT IT IN
OPPOSITION TO THE SECULAR LEADERSHIP OF THE
INTIFADA. ACCORDING TO THE CHARTER, HAMAS
CONSIDERS ALL OF PALESTINE AN ISLAMIC "WAQF," OR
TRUST FROM GOD. CEDING ANY PART OF IT TO A
JEWISH STATE WOULD VIOLATE THAT TRUST. HAMAS
OPPOSES THE TWO-STATE SOLUTION TOWARD WHICH THE
PLO SEEMS TO BE INCHING. IT OPPOSES THE
CREATION OF A SECULAR STATE IN PALESTINE, AS
CALLED FOR IN THE PLO COVENANT. INSTEAD, IT
DEMANDS THE ESTABLISHMENT OF AN ISLAMIC STATE.
IT ALSO OPPOSES CONVENING AN INTERNATIONAL PEACE
CONFERENCE. AS HAMAS LEAFLET NO. 28 SUCCINCTLY
PHRASED IT, "NEGOTIATION WITH THE ENEMY IS
RETREAT AND CAPITULATION." INSTEAD, HAMAS CALLS
FOR LIBERATING ALL OF PALESTINE THROUGH
JIHAD--BOTH ARMED STRUGGLE AND PROSELYTIZING.

24. THIS HAMAS/UNLU COMPETITION HAS LED TO A
BATTLE OF LEAFLETS AND STRIKE CALLS. HAMAS
LEAFLETS EXCORIATE THE PLO--PARTICULARLY FATAH--
AND THE UNLU FOR CAPITULATING TO THE ZIONIST
ENEMY. UNLU, IN RESPONSE, ACCUSES HAMAS OF
SERVING ISRAEL BY DIVIDING THE UPRISING. AT THE
SAME TIME, UNLU INVITES HAMAS TO JOIN THE
INTIFADA LEADERSHIP.

25. HAMAS, TO DATE, HAS REJECTED ALL CALLS FOR
UNITY WITH UNLU. ONE EXCUSE OFTEN HEARD IS THAT
HAMAS WILL NOT SIT ON THE SAME COMMITTEE WITH
THE COMMUNISTS. OTHERS SAY IT WILL NOT SIT WITH
ANY LEFTIST GROUP, SUCH AS THE PFLP. OTHER
SOURCES, INCLUDING SOME CLOSE TO THE HAMAS
LEADERSHIP IN NABLUS, HAVE TOLD US HAMAS HAS
AGREED IN PRIVATE TO A TWO-STATE SOLUTION AND
WILL SOON JOIN NOT ONLY THE UNLU BUT THE PLO
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE AS WELL. ACCORDING TO THESE
REPORTS, HAMAS IS MAINTAINING ITS PUBLIC STANCE
IN OPPOSITION TO THE UNLU IN ORDER TO STRENGTHEN
ITS ORGANIZATION.

24. UNDOUBTEDLY, THERE ARE CONTACTS AND EVEN
OCCASIONAL COORDINATION BETWEEN THE TWO GROUPS.
HOWEVER, RECONCILIATION AND/OR UNITY BETWEEN
THEM SEEMS UNLIKELY AT THIS TIME. HAMAS APPEARS
GENUINELY COMMITTED TO THE GOAL OF CREATING AN
ISLAMIC STATE IN ALL OF PALESTINE. THIS IS A
FUNDAMENTAL DIFFERENCE WITH THE SECULAR
NATIONALISTS THAT CANNOT BE PAPERED OVER. IT IS
THEREFORE LIKELY THAT THE UNLU AND HAMAS WOULD
FORGE A PERMANENT ALLIANCE.

25. MOST IMPORTANTLY, HAMAS RETAINS ITS FEAR OF
BEING COOPTED INTO THE NATIONALIST MOVEMENT AND
BECOMING IRRELEVANT. THIS FEAR WAS ONE OF THE
MAIN FACTORS SPURRING THE CREATION OF HAMAS. IT
IS IMPROBABLE THAT THE MB WOULD SACRIFICE ITS
CREATION NOW, JUST WHEN IT IS GAINING ACCEPTANCE
AS A PLAYER. HOWEVER, SHOULD HAMAS FAIL TO
MAINTAIN ITS FOOTHOLD AND BECOME THREATENED WITH
EXTINCTION OR IRRELEVANCE, IT MIGHT AT THAT
POINT CONSIDER COOPERATING WITH THE SECULARIST
NATIONALIST LEADERSHIP OF THE UNLU FOR TACTICAL
REASONS.

HAMAS--PROSPECTS FOR THE FUTURE

26. GAUGING THE CURRENT STRENGTH OF HAMAS IS A
RISKY ENDEAVOR. IN MANY REGIONS OF THE WEST
BANK, ISLAMIC INSTITUTIONS ARE HELD IN HIGH
REGARD, AND SUPPORT FOR HAMAS APPEARS TO DERIVE
MUCH OF ITS STRENGTH FROM THAT TRADITIONAL
RESPECT RATHER THAN FROM A CONSCIOUS CHOICE
BETWEEN FUNDAMENTALIST AND SECULAR OPTIONS.
NEVERTHELESS, HAMAS IS BEING TAKEN INCREASINGLY
SERIOUSLY THROUGHOUT THE WEST BANK. WHETHER
THAT IS BECAUSE OF ACTUAL STRENGTH AND
INFLUENCE, OR MERELY DUE TO INSPIRED
SELF-PROMOTION, WE CANNOT SAY. IN ANY CASE, IT
IS CLEAR THAT THE HAMAS PHENOMENON WILL BE A
SIGNIFICANT FACTOR IN FUTURE CALCULATIONS.

27. ALTHOUGH ISLAMIC FUNDAMENTALISM WILL REMAIN
A FEATURE OF THE WEST BANK LANDSCAPE, IMPORTANT
FACTORS WORK AGAINST IT BECOMING A PERVASIVE
INFLUENCE OR REPLACING THE SECULARIST STRAIN IN
WEST BANK POLITICS. WEST BANKERS AS A WHOLE ARE
WELL EDUCATED, MUCH TRAVELED, AND CAPITALISTIC
IN ORIENTATION. THEY ARE UNLIKELY WILLINGLY TO
TURN TO THE NARROW ISLAMIC FUNDAMENTALIST WORLD
VIEW, NO MATTER HOW DEEP THEIR DISAPPOINTMENT
WITH THE PLO LEADERSHIP.

28. AS NOTED ABOVE, THE MB HAS HAD ONLY A BRIEF
AND UNDISTINGUISHED HISTORY IN THE WEST BANK.
IN THE CURRENT ENVIRONMENT, THE INTIFADA ENJOYS
VERY WIDESPREAD SUPPORT AMONG WEST BANKERS, WHO
ARE GENERALLY OPPOSED TO ANY EFFORT TO DISRUPT
THIS UNITY AND THREATEN THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF
THE UPRISING. THUS FAR, PEOPLE HAVE NOT BEEN
FORCED TO CHOOSE BETWEEN THE UNLU AND HAMAS, AND
SUPPORT FOR THE FUNDAMENTALISTS HAS BEEN
RELATIVELY COST FREE. IN A SHOWDOWN BETWEEN THE
UNLU AND HAMAS, MUCH OF THAT SUPPORT COULD MELT
AWAY.

29. IN ADDITION THE WEST BANK, UNLIKE GAZA,
CONTAINS AN IMPORTANT CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY. AS
NOTED ABOVE, HAMAS IS MEETING RESISTANCE IN THE
CHRISTIAN ENCLAVE OF BETHLEHEM-BEIT JALA-BEIT
SAHOUR, EVEN TO THE POINT OF STIMULATING THE
REACTIVATION OF A RIVAL CHRISTIAN GROUP. STILL,
HAMAS HAS EXTENDED ITS INFLUENCE TO THE LARGELY
CHRISTIAN RAMALLAH-EL BIREH AREA, PROVING THAT
IT CAN SURVIVE IN A MIXED CHRISTIAN-MUSLIM
ENVIRONMENT. THE CHRISTIAN CHARACTER OF THESE
AREAS IS ALSO SLOWLY BEING DILUTED AS CHRISTIANS
EMIGRATE TO FRIENDLIER CLIMES.

30. NONETHELESS, DESPITE THE FACTORS WORKING
AGAINST THE SPREAD OF FUNDAMENTALIST INFLUENCE,
THERE ARE SITUATIONS IN WHICH FUNDAMENTALIST
STRENGTH COULD GROW TO THE POINT THAT HAMAS
WOULD BECOME A SPOILER IN ATTEMPTS TO BRING
PALESTINIANS AND ISRAELIS TOGETHER. ALTHOUGH
WIDESPREAD DECAPITATION THROUGH ARREST OF THE
UNLU LEADERSHIP IS NOT LIKELY, GIVEN ITS
OVERWHELMING POPULAR SUPPORT, ISRAELI EFFORTS TO
DO SO TEND TO PROMOTE HAMAS IN SPECIFIC AREAS,
SUCH AS IN THE EXAMPLE OF THE NEW ASKAR CAMP
GIVEN ABOVE.

31. WEST BANKERS ARE BOTH RELIGIOUS AND
NATIONALISTIC. THUS FAR, THEIR POLITICS HAVE
FOLLOWED THE NATIONALIST BENT OF THEIR CHARACTER
AND CULTURE. THEY HAVE SUPPORTED THE PLO
BECAUSE THEY BELIEVE THE PLO IS THE ONLY VIABLE
INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNIZED EXPRESSION OF
PALESTINIAN NATIONALISM. THEY HAVE THEREFORE
CONTINUED TO BACK THE PLO DESPITE MANY
DISAPPOINTMENTS, AND THE MAJORITY ARE LIKELY TO
CONTINUE TO DO SO. HOWEVER, SHOULD THE PLO FAIL
TO OVERCOME ITS IDEOLOGICAL DIVISIONS AND TAKE
INITIATIVES THAT WILL LEAD TO A POLITICAL
DIALOGUE WITH ISRAEL, THE UNITY OF THE INTIFADA
COULD BEGIN TO FRAY ONE CAN IMAGINE A SCENARIO
IN WHICH PFLP, DFLP, AND COMMUNIST ELEMENTS IN
THE TERRITORIES, WHO ARE NOW WORKING WITH FATAH,
COULD REVERT TO MORE EXTREME POSITIONS IN THE
ABSENCE OF A POLITICAL BREAKTHROUGH. IN SUCH A
SITUATION, THE SECULAR-NATIONALIST PRAGMATIC
CONSENSUS THAT IS THE DOMINANT FEATURE OF THE
INTIFADA COULD CRUMBLE, AND FUNDAMENTALISM COULD
MAKE SIGNIFICANT NEW INROADS, ESPECIALLY AMONG
DISPOSSESSED GROUPS. THUS, ALTHOUGH A
MASS-BASED FUNDAMENTALIST MOVEMENT IS UNLIKELY
TO EMERGE, THE FUNDAMENTALISTS COULD TAKE
ADVANTAGE OF GROWING DESPAIR AND SECULAR-
NATIONALIST DISUNITY TO FURTHER ITS POLICIES OF
CONFRONTATION AND REJECTION.

32. DESPITE THE AVOWED ANTI-ISRAELI INTENTIONS
OF HAMAS, IT IS LIKELY THAT THE MAIN CONTEST
WILL, FOR THE TIME BEING, BE BETWEEN HAMAS AND
THE UNLU. THE MB HAS TRADITIONALLY FOCUSED ON
ONE MAINSTREAM OPPONENT AT A TIME--THE WAFD IN
EGYPT, THE BAATH IN SYRIA. ITS CURRENT OPPONENT
IN ITS STRUGGLE FOR THE SOULS OF PALESTINIANS IS
THE MAJOR COMPONENT OF THE UNLU, FATAH. UNTIL
THIS STRUGGLE IS DECIDED, HAMAS IS UNLIKELY TO
DIRECT ITS EFFORTS PRIMARILY AGAINST ISRAEL.

A little off-topic, but relevant perhaps to the affinity Jews feel for Israel.

What is Birthright?
Since 1999, the organization Birthright Israel has offered all-expenses-paid trips to Israel to Jewish people around the world between the ages of 18 and 26. Yes, you read correctly: This really is a free trip.

Why? The organization, funded by both the Israeli government and individual donors, “seeks to ensure the future of the Jewish people by strengthening Jewish identity, Jewish communities, and connection with Israel,” according to its website. In the past two decades, it has sent nearly 700,000 young Jewish people on Birthright trips.

The idea is that, if young Jews have the chance to visit Israel during this formative time in their lives, they are more likely to want to continue Jewish traditions and to marry within the religion—since they’ll get a chance to meet a bunch of other Jews their age. According to the organization, Birthright participants are 54 percent more likely to say it’s very important to marry someone Jewish than Jews who have not attended Birthright.

Birthright was a direct response to high rates of American Jews marrying non-Jews. "The vision is to ensure the continued existence of the Jewish people because of the very high rate of assimilation," a spokesman for the organization said in 2006.

Birthright trips are usually organized by separate Jewish and/or Israeli groups like Hillel and Amazing Israel, though they are all funded by Birthright Israel.

Israeli army forms ‘settler militias’: Report
According to Haaretz newspaper, criminal records of applicants may be ‘overlooked’ depending on the nature of the crime

The Israeli army is recruiting settlers who have not undergone military service in order to post them as “defense militiamen” in the settlements they reside in, Hebrew newspaper Haaretz reported on 2 November.

“The recruits are expected to undergo accelerated basic training for three weeks, after which they will be armed and stationed in the settlements,” the report says.

Settlers between the ages of 27 and 50 who have not completed their military service will be eligible to apply for the program.

“Candidates were asked to fill out a form to indicate, among other things, their religious affiliation such as ultra-Orthodox, national-religious, national ultra-Orthodox, religious or other.”

The settlements in question are the ultra-Orthodox West Bk settlements of Ibei Hanachal, Ma’ale Amos, Emmanuel, Beitar Ilit, Modi’in Ilit, and Tel Zion.

Settlers applying for the program will be examined according to “various criteria.” The training is set to begin in two weeks.

According to what an army representative told various individuals inquiring about the program, settlers with criminal records could join the service depending on the “nature” of their crime.

Another settler was told that the army would “overlook” criminal records depending on whether or not the applying settler was serious about the job.

Haaretz states that since the start of the Gaza-Israel war on 7 October, the Israeli army has distributed around 8,000 weapons to “settlement defense squads.”

“We will turn the world upside down so that towns are protected. I have given instructions for massively arming the civilian security teams to provide solutions for towns and cities,” National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir said on 10 October.

The Hebrew daily also states that around 1,500 ultra-Orthodox settlers have submitted requests to join the army’s reserve ranks.

Israel’s plan to militarize the settlements comes as West Bank settlers have stepped up violent attacks and threats against Palestinians.

A UN report released on 1 November says that hundreds of Palestinians have been forcibly displaced from their homes in the occupied West Bank.

Just days ago, 141 Palestinians from the southern West Bank town of Khirbat Zanuta fled their homes after armed settlers threatened to kill them if they refused to leave.
