Famous American investigative journalist Seymour Hersh, who previously accused the United States of explosions on the Nord Stream gas pipelines, made a new statement. He claims that ceasefire negotiations have begun between Russia and Ukraine. According to Hersh, these negotiations are being conducted by the chiefs of the general staffs of the armed forces of both countries - Valery Zaluzhny and Valery Gerasimov.

The journalist refers to an unnamed official in Washington and states that Zaluzhny is negotiating with Russia without the consent of President Zelensky. According to Hersh, the West made it clear to Zelensky that if he does not agree to negotiations with Moscow, someone else will.

According to Hersh, during the negotiations the Russian side insists on Kiev recognizing Russian jurisdiction over Crimea and the territories of Donbass, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, which are under the control of the Russian Federation. At the same time, Ukraine, according to the journalist, can join NATO, provided that the alliance does not deploy its troops and strike weapons on its territory.

At the moment, neither Moscow nor Kyiv have officially responded to this publication of the American journalist. These statements by Hersh are of considerable interest as they may indicate possible changes in the diplomatic realities of the current conflict.

Firstly, many have understandably rolled their eyes at the claim that Russia is ready to give Ukraine the NATO allowance, or is content to simply walk away with Crimea and Donbass. But keep in mind, since this was relayed to Hersh through an alleged “American official,” it likely represents just the American side’s offers, not what the Russian side is necessarily actually willing to accept—but who knows.

Either way, I’ve already written previously about how Zaluzhny may be used as the sort of ‘Russian asset’ to bring peace, because he doesn’t want his troops being needlessly killed. He can be lured with the promise of resuming the conflict later, after much NATO rearming.

Again, if what we are witnessing does not put "voting" to the question, I don't know what it takes.

That, blended into the result of Totalitarian Democracy, leads to extraordinary results.

We could re-read the foregoing in the light of "performance of a non-capitalist economy".

It's stable, effective, and fairly unified against these mindless nuisances.

"Operators of reconnaissance drones that are part of the Russian paratrooper force detected enemy watercraft near the right bank of the Dnieper River, and personnel embarking on them to cross over to the left bank of the river for a landing operation. In order to destroy them, the command of one of the airborne units decided to use Lantset loitering munitions. Zelensky Acknowledges Defeat, Ukrainian Army Goes On Defensive

The Russian military went on the offensive and Kiev can no longer hide its defeat. Russian forces recently achieved important tactical gains in different regions, threatening Ukrainian forces with an upcoming large-scale offensive.

Russian bombs continue pounding Ukrainian hideouts in Avdeevka, while the troops are preparing for further offensive operations in the city and on its outskirts. Russian attacks continue near Severnoe on the southern flank and the Russian zone of control is expanding near the railway in the north.

At the same time, the Russians took control of Khromovo on the western outskirts of Bakhmut. The fall of the Ukrainian defense in the village threatens the strategically important Ukrainian stronghold in Chasov Yar, which Russian forces are likely to approach in the near future.

While any large operations are complicated in the southern steppes because of bad weather conditions, the sides continue local counterattacks. Meanwhile, the hopes of the Ukrainian military to develop its offensive on the eastern bank of the Dnieper are waning. Ukrainians still have a foothold in Krynki but fire from Russian artillery and aviation forced them to retreat to the northern outskirts of the village, leaving them no hope to advance to the forest areas to the south.

The Ukrainian General Staff reports Russian advances in the Kupyansk, Liman, Bakhmut, Avdeevka and Mariinka directions.

The losses of the Ukrainian military forced Zelensky to acknowledge defeat. He officially stated that the Ukrainian counteroffensive has ended, without achieving its goals, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are going on the defensive.


Kiev finally decided to start building a new line of defense following the example of the famous Russian “Surovikin line” in the Zaporozhie region. According to Ukrainian media, this was one of the bones of contention between the president and the Chief of the General Staff Zaluzhny, who insisted on the creation of new fortifications. In his turn, Zelensky opposed such a decision, since it recognizes the failure of Kiev’s “offensive” strategy and the crushing defeat of Zelensky’s media image. Finally, Zelensky was chastened by reality.

According to Kiev’s officials, the fortifications should include three lines of defense from Ugledar to Kupyansk in the east and along the Russian and Belorussian borders. “Zelensky rampart” should also reportedly protect the Mykolaiv and parts of the Kherson and Zaporozhie regions. It turns out that the Ukrainian military will be busy building some 3,000 km long defensive lines for months. According to the Ukrainian officials, Russia spent up to half a billion dollars for its Surovikin line. Thus, Kiev should find about 10 billion dollars, which is five times more than the foreign aid to Ukraine in the past month. Taking into account the top level of corruption in Ukraine, this amount should be multiplied.

There's a small but quite plausible consensus growing that Sy Hersh's article should really be viewed as a report on wishful thinking and not a realistic development diplomatically. It'd be quite straightforward to 'plant' someone in the MIC (Military-Intelligence-Complex) and use him as a way to get out a little disinformation.

This doesn't mean that Sy has 'flipped', just that this report, as opposed to the Nord Stream revelations which were, all things considered accurate, should be filed under being desirous of a western intelligence mindset outcome, not a Russian perspective. It's helpful to have the information but no way would Russia concede to what has been suggested here in relation to NATO - that's pure humbug.

There will of course be back-channeling going on - these things always happen during conflict - but to accept this report as being a true reflection of what is actually going on, from a Russian perspective, would be a little naive.

"Sorry but Hersh’s latest article is supposition from a western viewpoint at best & just because someone who’s renowned or admired writes something doesn’t mean it’s true. Especially when advocating in favor of intelligence agencies & constantly only from their perspective. The article states “It is thought that Putin would want to make a deal,” alleging Russian losses were disproportionate.

Here’s why I think this is an unlikely scenario: ✍️

1) This is supposition about what the Russian leader might do. And that’s all it is. Intelligence agents, State Dept spooks, constantly & willingly telling only one journalist said information this often, has an agenda. And that’s been clear for months from these anonymous* revelations.

2) Where are they getting this? Ukraine’s losses have been disproportionate. Yes there’s loss of life on both sides. But why would Russia have to prove anything to the west by holding new elections in the way they would want? Why would the need to appease the west? They don’t need them, quite the other way around. Also the source mentions a stalemate. This isn’t a stalemate. Ukraine has essentially lost and refused to admit defeat.

3) If Russia would be this naive to trust anything the west says as we’ve been here before, it would discredit everything they’ve done. Plus it would destroy any purpose that it had in the SMO. Putin would lose so much public support. It makes 0 sense.

4) The Minsk agreements all show the west has 0 intention of respecting anything. To accept Ukraine into NATO would literally violate its own red line. Most of NATO doesn’t even want Ukraine to join it & it’s less of likelihood now that Zelenskyy and other have admitted to the failure of the counteroffensive.

5) Russia is extremely diplomatic yes but things have changed in terms of the point of no return. Peace is possible of course as has been said by both the RFM and the Kremlin, but only if Russia’s demands are meant to ensure this won’t happen again. Yet this entire scenario lays out the foundations for this to continue and for some sort of control by the west to be established.

6) Russia wants the war to end, as do many others and Ukraine is already in bed with NATO, so it’s not even that it’s acceptance would change much outwardly. But in terms of inward actions, in terms of what joining NATO means in the language of war, even beyond article 5, this along with other concessions made by Russia doesn’t seem like a realistic solution they’d want. They understand Ukraine as a proxy will always continue to be used by the west for the final objective: The balkanization of Russia.

Top Ukrainian politician and presidential advisor David Arakhamia added a seventh confirmation that a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine was agreed in principle in March 2022 that was later shot down by UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

The parliamentary leader of Zelenskiy's ''Servant of the People'' confirmed on November 24 in an interview that internationally mediated negotiations in Istanbul had produced an agreement to bring the fighting in Ukraine to an end.
