At first sight the presence of US troops in Syria doesn’t seem to have anything do with Isreal. But recent history shows it has everything to do with it. There is no question that the US stoked the civil war in Syria to destabilize it, most likely at Isreal’s request, since this is helping Isreal’s illegal occupation of the Golan Heights. Both the USA and Isreal provided support to IS with weapons and medical assistance. Also, Isreal has conducted several unprovoked attacks against Syria in recent months, on the pretext that they’re preventing Iranian military forces from operating in the area.

We said it died there.

Everybody remembers John McCain and all that crazy stuff right? That includes the same Saudi Arabia that Dr. Assad has personally said has not troubled his country in years. They quit doing that, and, while assaulting Yemen, normalized other relationships, including Iran.

Well and good enough until it comes to Israel and it turns out there is something wrong with that.

Yemeni Armed Forces issued on Saturday a statement which affirms that the Yemeni navy will prevent all the vessels from crossing into the Israeli-held ports if Gaza food and medicine needs are not provided.

“After the successful efforts of the Yemeni Armed Forces, with the help of Allah, in imposing its decision to prevent Israeli vessels from navigating in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea, and due to the ongoing Zionist enemy’s heinous massacres, genocidal war, and blockade against our brothers in Gaza, the Yemeni Armed Forces declare the prohibition of passage for any vessels heading to the Zionist entity of any nationality unless they bring Gaza’s needed food and medicine. Otherwise, they will become legitimate targets for our armed forces.”

In our commitment to the safety of maritime navigation, we warn all vessels and companies against dealing with “Israeli” ports, according to the statement.

The Yemeni Armed Forces affirm their complete commitment to the continuity of international trade through the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea for all vessels and all countries, except those vessels associated with “Israel” or those transporting goods to “Israeli” ports, the statement added.

Ok, perhaps most of the military and political shenanigans are backed by some theories like a New Suez Canal and a bunch of offshore drilling. Israel would continue to do this growth and expansion with no regard for others. Almost like calling an exterminator for some rats in a barn you want to buy. Seems to be the sort of mentality I find around these places.

Notice those industrial projects have gone nowhere and would have difficulty attracting investors.

Unfortunately, yes, the opposite, destruction, is what Israel is pretty good at giving Gaza and yes, obliterating the infrastructure is far more broad reaching than a number of casualties.


As to the, eh, partnership:

Only about a third of Americans polled approve of the Biden administration’s response to the Israel-Hamas war, according to a Pew Research Center survey published Friday.

Among Republican respondents, 51 percent disapprove of the administration’s response, while 28 percent approve. Democrats polled are more split: 44 percent approve, 33 percent disapprove and 22 percent are not sure, POLITICO reported.

That’s an ominous sign for President Joe Biden heading into the election year. The conflict, which began in early October after the Hamas group mounted a deadly surprise attack on Israeli soil, has quickly emerged as one of the biggest foreign policy challenges for the Biden administration.

Divisions on the war are also generational, with younger people expressing deep skepticism of Biden’s response. Respondents under 30 years old were most critical of Biden of all groups: Just 19 percent approved of the White House’s response, while 46 percent disapproved. Older generations were generally less negative in the poll.

That tracks with an increasingly sympathetic sentiment toward Palestinians among young people.

I mean, great. There's no way you could really approve of it. That means on average it is about one third Zionist which means something like 100 million of them. How do you fix that. They are Fundamentalists.

Biden seeks to dismiss lawsuit that says he is failing to prevent genocide of Palestinians

The Biden administration has filed a motion in federal court calling for a lawsuit accusing the president and his team of failing to prevent a genocide of Palestinians in Gaza to be dismissed.

Rights groups and lawyers say that the administration's filing is an attempt to evade legal responsibility and culpability in what many scholars say is an act of genocide being committed by Israel against Palestinians in Gaza.

"The US government's filing is no less disappointing for being predictable," the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR), which is a party to the suit, said in a statement shared with Middle East Eye.

"Their lawyers focus on jurisdictional issues rather than the substance of the lawsuit."

The Biden administration's filing was submitted on Friday, a day before the 75th anniversary of the signing of the United Nations' Genocide Convention, and stated that the suit should be dismissed because the administration argues that the lawsuit would override the foreign policy decisions of the US government, and therefore would be "in violation of the constitutional separation of powers".

"Plaintiffs seek to have the Court override the Executive Branch's foreign policy and national security determinations," the administration's filing said.

"But decisions about whether and how to attempt to influence foreign nations, and whether and how to provide them military assistance, financial assistance, or other support, are constitutionally committed to the political branches of the Government."

The filing also states that the court has no jurisdiction given that Israel is a foreign sovereign nation and its actions are made independent of the US.

"Plaintiffs' alleged injuries are the result of the military and other activities of an independent foreign sovereign, Israel, over which this Court has no authority," the filing says.

Lawyers for the Palestinian plaintiffs argue otherwise. Washington sent military advisers familiar with urban combat to Israel ahead of the country's ground invasion of Gaza in October.

Biden has also rushed increased arms shipment to Israel and has pledged to give the country billions of dollars in military assistance, in addition to the $4bn the US already gives Israel each year.

Palestine - Occupation Forces have Serious Losses

The Israeli army is slowly recognizing and acknowledging that its enemies are serious fighters:

In Gaza itself, the military is amazed at the scale of Hamas' strength in the region, building a de facto terror army stationed 50 minutes away from Tel Aviv over the past 14 years, including hundreds of thousands of weapons ranging from various types of RPGs that constitute the main weapon in targeting soldiers, advanced rocket launchers, strike drones and strike drones modeled to counter Israeli ones. This also includes mortar shells, AK-47 rifles, Dragunov sniper rifles, communication devices, operational telephone lines and explosive charges in various sizes.

The resistance is stubborn. It doesn't give up even in areas the Israeli Occupation Forces have claimed to have cleaned:

In Beit Hanoun in northern Gaza, located just yards away from Sderot, the IDF has been operating from the early days of the operation, achieving tactical successes. However, the risks still remain. Last week, Hamas terrorists came out of a mosque in the town, and new weapon caches were also discovered. The IDF is targeting Hamas commanders, and most of these terrorist cells are local and small, but as Beit Hanoun can testify, it will take months to completely clear it of enemy forces- and this isn’t the location in which Hamas is at its strongest.

The occupation forces have relatively high losses, much higher than they admit. Via Haaretz:

Making its first such announcement since Hamas attacked on October 7, Israel stated on Sunday that 1,593 Israeli soldiers have been wounded during this period. The military noted that 255 soldiers had suffered serious injuries, 446 moderate injuries and 892 minor injuries. The army released the information on the numbers of wounded soldiers and their condition after Haaretz reported two weeks ago that it had been refusing to do so.

As of Sunday, the number of fallen soldiers in the war that Israel had dubbed "Swords of Iron" stands at 425 (97 of whom have been killed since the launch of the ground operation. An examination conducted by Haaretz with the hospitals where the wounded soldiers have been and are treated shows a considerable and unexplained gap between the data reported by the military and that from the hospitals. The hospitals' data shows that the number of wounded soldiers to be twice as high as the army's numbers.
For example, Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon alone reports treating 1,949 soldiers hurt in the war since October 7 (out of 3,117 injured people treated there during the war), whereas the army reports a total of 1,593 wounded soldiers. Assuta Ashdod reportedly treated 178 patients, Ichilov (Tel Aviv) 148, Rambam (Haifa) 181, Hadassah (Jerusalem) 209 and Sha'arei Tzedek (Jerusalem) 139.
In addition, another 1,000 or so soldiers were treated at Be'er Sheva's Soroka Medical Center, while another 650 were treated at Sheba Medical Center in Tel-Hashomer. This is a partial list, as the data does not include soldiers currently in rehab wards who have already been counted as wounded upon arrival at emergency wards and inpatient wards.

The Health Ministry has counted over 10,000 wounded.

There are likely also more dead soldiers than the occupation forces admit. Some special units, which are generally small, have taken serious hits:
