"In October 2011, Israel’s former foreign minister Tzipi Livni visited Britain and was faced with an arrest application over alleged war crimes committed during Operation Cast Lead, Israel’s brutal bombing campaign of Gaza in 2008-9. In line with the new legislation, the application was sent to the DPP, Keir Starmer, who according to one Israeli document was “actively considering granting his consent” to the arrest.

Starmer nonetheless deliberated on the evidence for long enough that the Foreign Office was able to attribute “special mission status” to Livni’s visit, granting her temporary diplomatic immunity.
    - John McEvoy for Declassified UK

    --------------------------------------

An article here from John McEvoy at Declassified UK published yesterday September 19th some of the details of which come as little surprise to some of us here, and some already more widely known. Still, it's well worth a read as it's informative although I do wish Declassified would actually link to released obtained files so we can see them for ourselves.

    --------------------------------------

Israel lobbied Britain to change law on war crimes arrests
Exclusive: The Israeli government waged a decade-long campaign to protect its officials from criminal proceedings in Britain, leaked files show.

Picture: General Almog narrowly avoided a British arrest warrant. (Photo: Robi Kastro via Alamy)
    - Revelation comes as the International Criminal Court considers arrest warrants for Israel’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
When retired Israeli general Doron Almog boarded his flight from Tel Aviv on 11 September 2005, he expected to soon step foot on British soil.

Minutes after landing at Heathrow airport, however, an Israeli embassy official boarded the plane and warned Almog to stay onboard.

An arrest warrant had been issued for the former army chief over alleged war crimes committed in Gaza, and British police officers were waiting at the immigration desk to seize him.

Almog remained on the plane for two hours before departing again for Israel. UK counter-terrorism police had decided not to board the jet, fearing an attempt to do so might lead to a firefight on the tarmac at Heathrow.

The incident seemingly marked the first time that an arrest warrant had been issued in Britain for an Israeli national over abuses against Palestinians, and it sent shockwaves through the Knesset.

What followed was a decade-long campaign by the Israeli government to ensure that something like this could never happen again, leaked files reviewed by Declassified reveal.

The campaign focussed on lobbying Britain to change its approach to universal jurisdiction legislation, which allows for the most serious crimes to be prosecuted in another country.

The goal was to allow Israeli officials to visit Britain without fear of arrest, particularly those accused of serious abuses against the Palestinians.

The emails and memos originate from a hack of the Israeli ministry of justice by a group called “Anonymous for Justice”, which describes itself as a “hacktivist collective”.

Israeli authorities acknowledged in April that a “cyber incident” took place and said it was “under review”. They did not respond to a request for comment.

Huda Ammori, the co-founder of Palestine Action, told Declassified: “It’s despicable and an affront to our democracy that the Israeli government has the ability to lobby our government to change the laws in their favour, to stop them from being prosecuted for war crimes”.

Ammori’s group aims to shut down Israeli arms factories in the UK. She said the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) is “now persecuting people from Palestine Action for trying to stop war crimes being committed by the Israeli state.”

She added: “Our system in this country works to favour suspected war criminals over the rights of its own citizens trying to stop those war crimes from happening”.

    Changing the law

Following General Almog’s narrow escape in 2005, the Israeli government privately lobbied Britain to water down its approach to universal jurisdiction.

Universal jurisdiction allows for the most serious crimes such as genocide and torture to be prosecuted in another country. Its present-day application was developed during the Nuremberg trials, when criminal proceedings were held against high-ranking Nazi officers.

One Israeli memo addressed to Britain’s ministry of justice, for instance, outlined concerns about the “misuse of existing criminal procedures in the UK in universal jurisdiction cases, as it affects Israeli nationals”.

The memo urged that “serious consideration be given to addressing these concerns, in the immediate term, through specific legislative amendments”.

Israel’s proposed amendments included requiring “the consent of the Attorney-General or the DPP [Director of Public Prosecutions] before an arrest warrant or summons is issued”.

The UK government was also pressed to outline what considerations would be taken into account by the Attorney General or the DPP before such consent would be offered.

Israel’s recommendations were apparently well received.

In September 2011, David Cameron’s coalition government passed new legislation requiring the consent of the DPP before universal jurisdiction arrest warrants could be issued – precisely what Israel had requested.

Britain’s then foreign secretary William Hague indicated how the changes were being implemented with Israeli officials in mind. “We cannot have a position where Israeli politicians feel they cannot visit this country”, he declared.

    Still not satisfied

Precisely why Starmer failed to reach a decision in time remains unclear. The CPS is refusing to release information to Declassified about what happened.

Livni walked free. But the incident convinced the Israeli government that Britain’s new safeguards were insufficient to protect its officials from arrest.

As a result, the Israeli ministry of justice continued to lobby Britain over its approach to universal jurisdiction cases.

In June 2013, Israel’s attorney general held “detailed and expansive discussions” with Starmer on the issue.

A follow-up meeting was attended by CPS international director Patrick Stevens and Marlene Mazel from Israel’s department of special international affairs.

The CPS declined to comment when approached by Declassified, but did not dispute that these meetings had taken place.

    UK-Israel dialogue

The high-level discussions continued into 2016 with the establishing of a “UK-Israel dialogue on Universal Jurisdiction”, the leaked files show.

The dialogue opened in November of that year, with Israeli foreign minister Tal Becker and justice minister Roy Schondorf meeting with the then DPP Alison Saunders and several other British officials in London.

It was clearly a secretive affair. “Make sure the meeting is not subject to the FOI [Freedom of Information] act”, instructed one Israeli note.

During the meeting, the Israeli delegation emphasised once again how officials “would like to visit the UK for a variety of reasons”, but “the status quo complicates their ability to do so”.

It was also noted how the issue had “taken a harsh tone that is surprising between close friendly nations”, with the Israeli government constantly applying for “special mission” certificates and taking up “a substantial amount of senior UK officials’ time”.

To this end, further modifications to British legislation were encouraged such as drafting a UK-Israel agreement on concurrent jurisdiction and replacing DPP consent with that of the Attorney General.

It was also agreed “that a high level UK official will publish a public statement regarding the independence, fairness and impartiality of the Israeli legal system”, according to one Israeli file.

Yet once again, this was not enough for the Israeli government.

Over the following weeks, Israeli officials continued to push the UK government to make further changes, grumbling about how “unnecessary and unmeritorious processes” could be initiated against “members of the Israeli government [… and] military”.

In a confidential dispatch, Britain’s ministry of justice tried to reassure the Israelis that “since the introduction of a requirement for the DPP to approve applications for private arrest warrants, no such arrest warrants have [been] issued for anyone, including Israeli visitors”.

Despite this, the issue apparently remains unresolved.

Since 2016, the Israeli government has continued to apply for “special mission” certificates for visiting Israeli officials, including Livni and the former defence minister Shaul Mofaz.

The UK government has also provided these certificates amid the ongoing genocide in Gaza, with Israeli war minister Benny Gantz receiving diplomatic immunity to visit Britain in March 2024 for meetings with then foreign secretary David Cameron.

Britain’s justice ministry and foreign office were approached for comment.

Default Re: Israel vs Palestine/Lebanon/Iran/Yemen/Syria: a New Middle East War

    Text:
The coverage of Israeli soldiers pushing three Palestinians off a roof in the West Bank – it's unclear if they are dead or near-dead – is being barely reported by the western media, even though it was videoed from two different angles and a reporter from the main US news agency Associated Press witnessed it.

AP reported on this some nine hours ago. Its feed is accessed by all western establishment media, so they all know.

Yet again, the media has chosen to ignore Israeli war crimes, even when there is definitive proof that they occurred. (Or perhaps more accurately: even more so when there is definitive proof they occurred.)

Remember, that same media never fails to highlight – or simply make up – any Palestinian crime (such as those non-existent "beheaded babies").

AP itself treats this incident in the West Bank town of Qabatiya as no big deal. It reports that it may be part of a "pattern of excessive force" by Israeli soldiers towards Palestinians.

That comment, without quote marks and ascribed to a human rights group, is almost certainly AP's preferred characterisation of the group's reference to a pattern not of "excessive force" but of war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide.

AP makes sure to give Israel's pretext for why it is committing war crimes: "Israel says the raids are necessary to stamp out militancy."

But it forgets yet again to mention why that "militancy" exists: because Israel has been violently enforcing an illegal military occupation of the Palestinian territories for many decades, in which it – once again illegally – drafts in an army of settler militias to drive out the native Palestinian population.

AP also forgets to mention that, under international law, the Palestinians have every right to resist Israel's occupying soldiers, including "militantly".

Western governments might characterise Palestinians shooting at Israeli soldiers as "terrorism", but that's not how it is seen in the international law codes that western states drafted decades ago and that they claim to uphold.

It's also worth noting that the local Palestinian reporter who witnessed this crime had his report rewritten by "Julia Frankel, an Associated Press reporter in Jerusalem".

As is true with many other western outlets, AP copy is editorially overseen from Jerusalem, where its office is staffed mostly with Israeli Jews.

Western news outlets doubtless privately rationalise this to themselves as a wise precaution, making sure their copy is "sensitive" to Israel's perspective and less likely to incur the wrath of the Israeli government and Israel lobby.

Which is precisely the problem. The bias in western reporting is baked in. It's designed not to upset Israel – in the midst of a "plausible genocide", according to the World Court – which means it's entirely skewed and completely untrustworthy.

It makes our media utterly complicit in Israel's war crimes, including when Israeli soldiers throw Palestinians off a roof.

How can we be sure that many of Israel's electronic bomb devices did not end up in Europe through private sales?

The Mossad has been making the pagers and electronic devices itself and inserting explosives into them through a network of companies in Europe for years, the Daily Mail reports.

The question is whether they were just sending them to Lebanon, which is unlikely.

Many of the devices are likely to have been distributed across multiple countries.

Many of those devices have definitely left those countries through private sales.

Many people from the Middle East countries are migrant and living in Europe, so it is not at all surprising that such bomb devices are now traveling around Europe and the world.

I will put this here although I cannot substantiate it .... it is from a unknown source (well the source is known but cannot be considered as reputable as no one seems to know anything about them!) which may have some truth or may not? .... checking it does seem to lead to seemingly correct considerations .... but?

I just want for it to maybe help in the "thoughts" about the potential future explosive devices?

NOTE .... SV17q is what we would consider as "Men in Black" or the "Collins Elite" type of group .... From all that I have read, they are fully allowed to act in any and all ways when hidden concepts, non humans, and tech etc are involved!

Quote - On January, 6th 1996 15 grams of RDX explosive hidden in a cell phone killed Yahya Ayyash, chief bombmaker of Hamas

    - DENIED tasked SV17q to explore the possibility to make a cell phone explode remotely without having to use explosives

    - SV17q final proposal on Hadda Project to include DENIED fibers in the manufacturing process of cell phones which will act as a lethal explosive if exposed to overheat, the heat being released from the DENIED components once triggered by firmware

    - SV17q final proposal to encode the triggering piece of code in the firmware of ARM drivers and to deploy the software worldwide

    - Report on the C.I.A.'s informant network in China collapse; 23 agency's assets arrested (dated 2011)

    - SoftBank acquires British chip designer ARM Holdings (2016) to start fitting chips with Hadda technology (dated 2016)

    - SV09n conclusion that China has now the Hadda technology after cell phones explosions in Australia, Indonesia, and US (dated 2018)

    - SV09n report concluding Huawei is manufacturing cell phones incorporating Hadda technology and recommending actions to counter deployment of Chinese Hadda technology to Western countries (dated 2018)

    - SV17q reports on Hadda signals being detected in downlink telemetry of Chinese Tianhui satellites via Valinta QR eavesdropping (dated April 2019)

    - President Trump forced to ban American telecommunications firms from installing foreign-made equipment that could pose a threat to national security (dated May 2019)

"in that particular simulation DENIED discovers that cell phones being manufactured by DENIED carry a firmware that, under specific conditions, causes the cell phone to explode. The software executes a module that overheats critical components which are in touch with the DENIED explosive. The company is fully funded by SoftBank and the target market was China."

"according to the simulation, Ampere Computing produced millions of explosive 64-bit ARM server processors that by 2025 were present in all hyperscale cloud providers all over the world. The simulation then modeled what would happen when the triggering signal is embedded inside a BeiDou satellite GPS signal, that is, what would happen if all active cell phones in the world explode at the same time, leaving millions of fatal casualties and severely injured users, plus all of the cloud providers being suddenly disrupted."
    Normal..!

    Text:
Russian intel expert doesn’t buy US ‘fairy tales’ that pager attack took 15 years to set up: here's why

“Such an operation, from an operative’s point of view, is quite simple. You don’t need to prepare it over 15 years. I think this claim was made to raise Mossad’s prestige, which, of course, fell to an unparalleled low after the October 7 terror attacks,” FSB reserve colonel and counterterrorism vet Andrei Popov told Sputnik, commenting on the latest media “fairy tales” citing anonymous sources in US intelligence claiming that the suspected Israeli pager attacks in Lebanon took many years of careful planning.

Popov believes with “100% certainty” that the reporting on the attacks now being published in Western media is being fed to them by intelligence services “to cover their tracks and provide a false but plausible lead. That’s how I perceive it from an operational point of view.”

From a technical standpoint, the pager plot was not rocket science, Popov said. Among its requirements were a detailed knowledge of Hezbollah’s equipment needs and what purchases it planned to make, to figure out what items can be swapped for rigged devices, and at what stage.

From the operational perspective, the attacks would have been “much easier [to prepare] by replacing the goods during transportation, during the logistical stage,” according to Popov. “What is several thousand pagers? It’s several boxes. It’s not a trainload, it’s not a refrigerator – it’s several boxes that can be transported in one minivan. The main thing to know is the marking, the packaging, the pager numbers and the preparation of duplicates,” the FSB vet stressed.

Another possibility is that the equipment was rigged in the factories making them, Popov said, although “this would be very problematic from the perspective of information leaking out,” if workers in a factory began asking questions about the arrival of new, suspiciously untalkative employees.

As for the explosives themselves, the simplest option for placing them would have been to embed them into batteries, Popov said.

“The battery is a hermetically sealed cylinder or thin plate, depending on the pager model. Apparently, Hezbollah did not open and check each battery, or at least a few. If they had, a chemical analysis using the simplest, cheapest gas analyzer available at every metro station in Moscow would have given cause for some questions. They apparently just didn’t imagine this was possible, counterintelligence did not consider this option,” Popov said.

Possibly, following a statement by Maj. Gen. H Salami:

Quote “The enemy, incapable of face-to-face confrontation, commits crimes behind the front line and magnifies the achievement of the crime in order to delay its demise and hide the scandal of its successive defeats from the world.

He said IRGC servicemen, together with the great Iranian nation, laud the numerous sacrifices made by Hezbollah fighters, pay homage to the victims of recent device explosions in Lebanon, offer condolences to their families, and pray for the quick recovery of the injured.

Salami said ‘Israel’ has not achieved any of its goals in Gaza after nearly a year of war and resorting to all kinds of crimes, despite the “ignorant and unwavering support of the Western governments”.

“The humiliated enemy which is under the daily strikes of the resistance in the center, north, east and south and besieged will get nowhere with the new massive terrorist attacks on Tuesday and Wednesday using pagers and electronic systems against women, men and children of Lebanon.”

The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor has denounced the detonation of pagers and wireless devices in Lebanon, saying it is a blatant violation of international law.

The organization said the attack did not only target Hezbollah members but also indiscriminately exploded devices used by civilians.

    While:

Israeli Channel 14 said between 150 to 200 rockets were launched from Lebanon in the last hour. “Hezbollah wanted to demonstrate that after the Israeli airstrikes yesterday, it is capable of launching rockets as it wishes, and this is evident,” the Israeli channel reported.

Israeli Channel 12 said that firefighting planes were assisting in extinguishing the fires in the Safed area, reporting outbreaks of fires in central and northern Golan following the rocket launches from Lebanon.

The logic of "a significant Israeli win" = the north is burned to the point of becoming uninhabitable.

    They won't be back.
It's always telling how the Muslim world uses the word 'humiliation'. It's an obsession as the violent ones among them perhaps feel humiliated themselves.

    What does it tell you?

That's objectively true, most people may be familiar with this famous incident:

Quote During a 14 December 2008 press conference at the prime minister's palace in Baghdad, Iraq, Iraqi journalist Muntadhar al-Zaidi threw both of his shoes at United States president George W. Bush.

As he threw his first shoe, al-Zaidi yelled "This is a farewell kiss from the Iraqi people, dog", in Arabic.

I did not get the sense the General was projecting his own sensitivities.

It sounded like he was referring to common knowledge about the group's behavior.

Humiliation is certainly is a type of "status", seen as something more like an animal. The tone of voice follows most of the legal and political norms, although there is frequently an element of rudeness, as was done here. This does not seem incorrect, considering the recent resignations of multiple high-level officials, such as the 8200 chief who admitted complete failure due to prevailing notions. No one has dissected this statement, for one it is not very important, and it is a cheap copy of the American Department of Homeland Security. They already used this excuse. In their case, they never prevented anything dangerous, and in his case, neither did he.

That they themselves feel humiliation because they're not as powerful as the Western countries. For a good while, the Arab world was a trailblazer in science and academics. Unfortunately they didn't move ahead with the times and this has stifled their development. If it wasn't for the fundamentalists and warmongers in power, I've no doubt the Arabs as a collective could have become the envy of the world.
They still might, however the racist hatred of the Jewish state and their own arab leaders corruption is holding them back.

If there was no profit in the middle eastern wars then they simply wouldn't exist. All this bull**** of painting Israel as the evil ones is propaganda. Hezbollah, Hamas and the Iranian leaders aren't poor are they?

That's an assertion, which is groundless, as far as I can tell. They tend to feel calm:

Also on Saturday, a video was widely circulated that captured a southern Lebanese child calmly enjoying sweets on his balcony, undisturbed by the Israeli airstrikes targeting the area, a testament to people’s trust in Hezbollah’s steadfast commitment to defending them.

Despite the airstrikes, the resistance’s missiles were launched towards the occupied territories,” the correspondent stressed.

Quote If there was no profit in the middle eastern wars then they simply wouldn't exist. All this bull**** of painting Israel as the evil ones is propaganda. Hezbollah, Hamas and the Iranian leaders aren't poor are they?

No, of course they are not poor. Most of that is privately donated. This is because of comprador governments, which is perhaps a more meaningful argument. That is why Lebanon is not much of a country, which is more complicated than emotional posturing.

Painting Israel as it is requires little propaganda, just objectivity. It's an invasion, which of course was more powerful to start. It's just an invasion. That one is fully backed by propaganda, such as Bible beliefs. And an ape-like level of racism. Every day there are HZB obituaries of individual fighters, whereas Israel has to hide its losses while its settlers squeal and flee. So the psychological argument is a bit backwards. Besides, this argument has evolved beyond Evil and has attained Stupid. It's just Stupid, because it can only repeat the same fractured ideas, with no ability to respond to stimuli.

If not everyone felt this way last year, if we look at the "swing vote" of the world, it has almost entirely turned away from Israel. Here, of course, we mean Columbia and similar places that are not directly involved. They have all been tricked, are making a mistake?

I believe it is just the revelation of facts without Zio-speak masking them, or censoring you or putting you in jail.

No one has yet addressed why the Jews have a 3,000 year old problem; instead we are typically pushed to one side or the other. I would be willing to listen to both sides on what makes this so bad, but the resolution is not in this modern state. We might ask why Jews have been perfectly integrated into Iran while most of the rest of the diaspora has not gone well? If Iranians were such "racists", how could this have happened? Are they suffering retributive strikes today? Not that I know of.

It would simply dustify most western thought--if anything, the Mountain Jews are the Lost Tribes, those are the real Israelis in the historical sense. They live in Iran and Russia mostly. This is an objective fact which does not fit most readily-available narratives. In ancient times, there was probably a lot of fighting, but, in the historical record, we do not find the same legacy of oppressions and revolts. Since they are not powerful, perhaps they feel humiliated, inferior? I doubt it. That doesn't seem to me to be a significant component for most...non-USA-powerful populations. Certainly there aren't any other western countries that have power these days.

It's going to be difficult to make points from a state of denial and distortion.
