    • Unfiltered Unaltered Truth will be called "propaganda" because they always say: the added "proper context" is "missing".
But how many times they "forget" to report that the added "counter context" is also propaganda ...

    (...)

    Thanks,

"mass psychology mechanism" is not the same as "mass psychosis" nor "mass hysteria" nor plane "mass psychology" ... but it has some aspects or elements of it ... that is why I added the word: "mechanism" ... (similar when people say: "type of person" does not mean exact the same person).

    cheers,

    Thank you John.

Well.. yes, but you see, my core contention is precisely that there is nothing really like “masses” here. To make my point clearer to a Dutchman: the farmer’s protests with their tractors, those were real mass events.

But the term “mass psychology” or "mass ... mechanism" does not adequately describe what is happening. The psychology and mechanisms are strictly individual. People are being isolated from each other and in the situation they are bombarded with tailor-made propaganda (AI!). Think of this: we cannot even talk sensibly with each other about the degree in which we are subjected to propaganda because propaganda is different for each and every person! (“Have you also seen on Youtube XYZ saying horrible things about the Palestinians?” — “No, I don’t know what you mean.. Horrible things?”).
I am slightly older than you but you also will remember a culture of demonstrations when you were a kid. Industrial workers did not use to write a "letter to the editor", they went on strike and demonstrated and occasionally died being shot by the police for it. "Intellectuals” such as I did so less – the last time I participated in a rather "hot" demonstration was when Bush came to Brussels to defend his "War on Terror" and his Wars against Afghanistan and Iraq before the European Parliament.
What happens now is that demonstrations do not spontaneously erupt any more out of angry people living and sharing that anger collectively and/or communally : they are isolated, and the step from this isolation to demonstration (or more) is too big to take. Things will only change when people take full stock of the extent of their isolation. And this isolation goes together with ignorance and cowardice as you quite rightly have pointed out many times, when you have emphasised our personal responsibility.

They're not in a position to set any terms. That's how you know they are bluffing. Caterwauling, I might call it, but an absolute waste of everyone's time.

Quote "Negotiations will only take place under fire, we continue to shell Hezbollah with all our might"

Right, if by Hezbollah you mean the occasional random member that might have been with his family. "All your might" is probably accurate, bearing in mind the adversary has barely lifted a finger. The power of it is almost entirely the Air Force, which represents money, not human dedication. Do you have a 30% fanatical following? Two, maybe three million Israelis who are going to hold it down while everyone else leaves? I feel a vise tightening.

    Same in France.

I was taught it is basically a yearly thing, varying by degree.

I agree with this "core" and the importance of it, and, like most things I deal with, I recommend a careful sifting of the right words to put it in, so we don't get a forest-and-trees blur.

For example a "crowd" would not generally be mistaken for a percentage of an abstract population, it would make you think of the "mass" at a given location sharing a perceptual field.

Quote But the term “mass psychology” or "mass ... mechanism" does not adequately describe what is happening.

That's almost exactly what my grandfather told me, except it was rather more blunt: "In the future, we won't be able to talk to each other". He meant among the regular English speakers in America. In other words, the isolated individual psychology would become so strong, a mass could not even form. At least, not one of people who talked and understood each other.

It seems like it should be pretty easy to see the advent of radio around the 1930s was like giving this a rocket booster.

Before that, it was mostly printing, before that, any writing.

How easily would the isolated individual scenario unfold if your regular mode of communication was talking?

Then you get to a more difficult issue about propaganda in your individual box.

If it were possible to talk sensibly in any way about it, then, I would say this has nothing to do with factual content. I can sit here and tell lies like the Taxil Hoax, and it is not propaganda, because there is no point, it is a joke. This happens a lot, even if it makes no sense to me, some people love to come up with stuff and pose it. Maybe it is fun, maybe in some cases it is pathological, but it is just something that is untrue.

On the other hand, propaganda could be based on 100% facts, but the most thorough set of true facts is a "report".

The way I, at least, use the term, says that propaganda is the art of persuasion. It attempts to manipulate your feelings, to get you to join something, or change sides, or think or act a certain way, like a set of instructions.

If I post something, the facts or reporting are entirely secondhand. That's not mine. When I post them, I cannot cease to commit propaganda. I post things because of a value judgment one way or the other. Because my post is the same for anyone who reads it, there would not be an option for different people to have presence or absence of propaganda. Their personal reactions may vary in degrees and in different ways, but the stimulus is the same.

My long-term experience for years now is isolation, I try to work among people and public facing, and I am not sure I can say I have found anyone who appeared qualified to enter the conversation. They all seem to need some patching, before even making a basic attempt on ordinary everyday life. It's unreal! I definitely experienced times past that were quite different, it is almost literally as if a switch were flipped on 9/11. Now it's almost like "remember the human beings of the twentieth century?".

To make the worst possible insinuation, I would say the American post-World War II environment spent decades on garnering sympathy for Israel, "hunting" the Nazis, etc., up to around the point that first guy got arrested in Austria for "holocaust denial", 1989 or thereabouts. Shortly after this, the Zionist propaganda seems to have been acceptably "cemented" and then--from the federal level no less--our "national conversation" flowed seamlessly into diversity tolerance, affirmative action, politically-correct speech, etc., in a way that had not happened before. But this is just propaganda for your isolated individual box.

I am guessing it was approximately close in Europe, since, when asked what to do about Germans because some of them did not want the propaganda, or to be told what to think or say, the answer from Regan was to give them tvs. From there, my understanding is that there is a visible trend of Americanized consumerism, to the detriment of cultural legacies. While giving Israel a phenomenally large sum of money.

I suppose I am more or less on a pilgrimage to find where the "core" went.

The fleet oiler assigned to the Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group was damaged off the coast of Oman in the Arabian Sea on Monday, Navy officials confirmed to USNI News.

This is a comedy of errors:

Quote US Navy vessels don’t typically transmit AIS signals, so we don’t know the exact location of the ship but a Navy source confirms she is anchored near Oman awaiting a full damage assessment.

Fortunately, no injuries or environmental damage have been reported for the ship. This is significant because the 33-year-old vessel is one of the single-hull versions of the Kaiser-class oilers.

“USNS Big Horn sustained damage while operating at sea in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations overnight on Sept. 23. All crew members are currently safe and U.S. 5th Fleet is assessing the situation,” according to a statement from a Navy official provided to Sam Lagrone at USNI News.

It’s not looking good. I’ve been told by a shipowner the Navy does not have a spare oiler to deploy and is scrambling to find a commercial oil tanker to refuel the Abraham Lincoln carrier group.

Updates over at gCaptain forum: https://t.co/nNG6uSYGJJ https://t.co/wGP2GTYyAw pic.twitter.com/ec2oN3CpSf

    — John Ʌ Konrad V (@johnkonrad) September 24, 2024

Kaiser-class oilers, named after Henry J. Kaiser, were introduced in the 1980s and have long been the backbone of the Navy’s underway replenishment (UNREP) capabilities. These vessels refuel carrier strike groups and other naval assets at sea—a crucial task ensuring the Navy’s global reach and operational readiness. However, as single-hull tankers, they’ve been considered environmentally vulnerable since, following the Exxon Valdez oil spill, the 1990 Oil Pollution Act (OPA 90) mandated double-hull designs for commercial oil tankers.

The John Lewis-class, a modern replacement for the aging Kaiser-class, features double-hull construction, improved safety, and enhanced fuel capacity. Named after the late civil rights leader, these ships are designed to meet the Navy’s future logistical needs, reflecting a broader push to modernize the fleet and enhance operational resilience.

Compounding the problem is the fact that the Big Horn is the only oiler the Navy has in the Middle East. One shipowner told gCaptain that the Navy is scrambling to find a commercial oil tanker to take its place and deliver jet fuel to the USS Abraham Lincoln.

If the Navy resorts to using a commercial oil tanker as a temporary replacement, it would need to install a Consolidated Cargo Handling and Fueling (CONSOL) system for underway replenishment operations. This system includes specialized refueling rigs, tensioned fueling hoses, and high-capacity fuel pumps—all essential for safely transferring fuel to warships at sea. The tanker would also require robust communication and control systems to ensure precise coordination during refueling maneuvers.

This retrofitting process is no small feat. It requires significant modifications to the commercial vessel, enabling it to withstand the unique stresses and operational demands of pumping fuel while sailing at full speed. Moreover, a U.S. Merchant Marine crew trained in CONSOL UNREP procedures—a complex and high-risk operation—would need to be flown to the Middle East to supervise the operation. This adds another layer of complexity to an already challenging situation.

Commercial tankers are significantly slower than Navy oilers, which could leave the USS Abraham Lincoln more vulnerable to attack during aviation fuel loading operations.

The Navy currently faces a severe shortage of oilers and crew to operate them. Earlier this month, the Navy announced it might lay up 17 replenishment and supply ships—including one oiler—due to difficulties recruiting U.S. Merchant Mariners. While the Navy has launched five new John Lewis Class oilers – including the USNS Lucy Stone (T-AO 209) this week – and awarded NASSCO a $6.7 billion contract for eight more, challenges persist.

Official Navy and Military Sealift Command sources have repeatedly assured gCaptain that the John Lewis program is on schedule. However, two marine inspectors who have examined the new oilers tell gCaptain they’re encountering numerous problems, delaying the vessels’ overseas deployment. Despite the lead ship, USNS John Lewis, being launched in January 2021, it’s currently sitting idle at a repair shipyard in Oregon. As of today, none of the new oilers have been cleared to leave the continental United States.

The Broader Navy Tanker Crisis and Strategic Implications

The grounding of USNS Big Horn is a stark reminder of the broader tanker crisis facing the U.S. military, as highlighted by Captain Steve Carmel, a former vice president at Maersk, in an editorial for gCaptain last year. The Department of Defense is projected to need more than one hundred tankers of various sizes in the event of a serious conflict in the Pacific. However, current estimates indicate that the DoD has assured access to fewer than ten, a dangerously low number that threatens to cripple U.S. military operations. Without sufficient tanker capacity, even the most advanced naval capabilities—including nuclear-powered aircraft carriers, which still rely on aviation fuel—will be rendered ineffective.

This problem became significantly more accute with the closing of the Navy’s massive Pacific fuel depot – Red Hill – after poor maintence resulted in fuel leaking into the local water supply, poisoning thousands including children, in Hawaii.

The shortage of both oilers and tankers demands urgent action. The United States must build a larger U.S.-flagged fleet capable of replenishing aircraft carriers and support joint wartime operations. Expanding the Tanker Security Program, enforcing cargo preference, and prepositioning fuel-laden tankers are potential solutions, but they require immediate implementation. With the looming threat of conflict in the Pacific, securing a robust tanker fleet is not just a logistical necessity—it’s a strategic imperative.

This crisis—coupled with the equally troubling US Merchant Marine crewing crisis—poses a significant challenge for the US Navy. Encouragingly, Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro has called for a bold new Maritime Statecraft. Moreover, with the leadershipof RepresentativeMichael Waltz and Senator Mark Kelly, Congress is working on a bill to address our maritime dilemmas—a bill this incident makes more compelling than ever. However, major obstacles remain. These solutions take time, and other federal agencies—including the US Coast Guard but most notably the US Maritime Administration under Secretary Pete Buttigieg—are under-resourced and lack motivation to do the heavy lifting required to solve these problems.

As we await the implementation of these crucial solutions, our dedicated Merchant Mariners, operating a dwindling fleet of aging logistics ships, will undoubtedly face increased operational demands and heightened pressure to work harder. More stress on the mariners and military logistics system will inevitably lead to more incidents similar to yesterdays USNS Big Horn grounding. And that’s before we even consider the Navy’s severe shortage of working ships – salvage ships, ocean tugboats, fireboats, tenders, and floating drydocks — all crucial for quickly repairing and returning damaged ships to service.

Nobody said anything about this ship being shot.

Then, we're going to contain China by sending over aircraft carriers full of grounded planes.

Nevermind. Let's just expose the weak link in the chain, then someone will shoot it.

Must watch! The zionist lobby direct access to (and control of) the White House couldn't be more explicit...

"Love him or hate him, Donald Trump has earned a much-deserved reputation for speaking his mind, frequently revealing truths about the inner workings of the American political system that everyone knows are true but few are willing to say out loud. Most recently he mentioned during a speech to an American Jewish organization that in office he happily did the bidding of his donors Sheldon and Miriam Adelson, moving the U.S. embassy in Israel to Jerusalem and even recognizing Israel’s control over the Golan Heights. It’s a shame Trump just does his donors’ bidding like all other politicians, Jimmy says, but at least he’s up front about his participation in a corrupt system."

🇮🇱🇱🇧 The 21-day ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel demanded by the US is only for Israel to receive the new $8.7 billion arms package announced today by Israel itself

Half of that package consists of Iron Dome missiles and other air defense weapons.

Within two days, Hezbollah "dried up" the Iron Dome, after witch many direct strikes on the territory of Israel were recorded.

The goal is for that package to arrive within 21 days and with the ceasefire to be bought on time.

If Hezbollah buys into this stupid trick that was also used with Putin's naivety, they will only be shooting themselves in the foot.

Concerning what seemed to be a rather evasive statement by the Navy the other day, it turns out that an allision is a nautical and legal term for when you strike a stationary object. A collision is when you strike something that is moving.

So there is no suggestion of a missile, drone, etc., and no real need for them to deny it. The Big Horn was towed dead stick to Duqm, Oman, which means without any of its own engine power. Pretty easy to tell it has a serious problem:

But that's just the cost of doing business.

By now you'd think they'd learn not to run over the people who live in the Persian Gulf. Instead, it turned out to be relatively easy to unfold the scenario that the United States could not fight the war suggested by the aggregate of its many aircraft carriers. It is not physically possible to refuel them all rapidly enough for sustained use. Aside from a first strike capability, they can only fly the jets for about ten percent of their potential air time. Otherwise you would have to commit multiple oilers per carrier depending on how close to any fuel source it was.

This being while all the newer ones can't leave the territorial waters.

To return to some damage assessment, it appears Yemen only caused a traffic jam on the 26th. Happens to be in a significant location.

The results from Iraq towards Eilat consist in 1/2 drones being intercepted. The unit that hit carried about a ~15 kg payload. So that is dangerous in about a 50 m radius. The effect on people was such that:

Israel’s Magen David Adom ambulance service said that two people were wounded by the drone strike on the port. Both men were listed in good condition and did not require hospitalization, according to the service.

So far, no, it is not that much destructive force that has erupted in the main parts of Israel. Economic and psychological factors mainly. However, we should now think this is vastly and categorically different in a belt from Safed to Haifa:

You could probably consider all of that under sustained attack, perhaps about at parity with what the Israeli Air Force belts out. Although military targets are high priority, I do not think we will be able to say that civilian areas are unaffected. Every day that Israel shoots Lebanese civilians, HZB is most likely going to aim at a few settler kibbutzes. The smallest projectile is five times the size of that Eilat drone, and they come in batches.

Well, tomorrow, Tallahassee is probably going to be in the Gulf of Mexico, and the rest of us will be in tornado alley until we wake up in Oz. And this fiend is just going to say something ridiculous on national tv. My response remains the same. Look, you can walk out with some pre-1967 border and a radical legal overhaul, which, for example, bans you, your political party, or anything that smells like it. Otherwise, zip it mister. I could go for that kind of a consolation prize, mainly on behalf of those who happen to live there without agreeing with the regime. I don't think anything more than that can be tolerated.

Think of it. Bretton Woods 1971 is basically gone, so, along with it, take the corresponding Zionist expansions.

That's all I have to say to any of them unless I ever see it turned around.

The shot at Tel Aviv was accompanied by something more:

According to CNN, the Houthis’ attack targeted the Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyers USS Spruance and USS Stockdale as well as the Freedom-class littoral combat ship USS Indianapolis.

There is no sign that any of the stuff hit, but, again, same principle applies. The destroyers were on their way to "do something" for Israel...get them to spray out all their ammo, and they are useless. I don't know how much that takes. They are pretty good with defense, but, chances are, cheap drones can eventually drain multi-million dollar interceptors.

Watch how many delegates all walked out of the United Nations Assembly when it came to Netanyahu's turn to speak.

Delegates walk out of UN general assembly chamber ahead of Israeli PM's speech

    Edit to add:

Netanyahu in his speech then referred to "The UN House of Darkness" and "This Swamp of Anti-Semitic Bile".

(That'll be sure to win him more friends everywhere)
