Depending on who takes jurisdiction, it may not be the end:

“The (ICC) arrest warrant is not enough, Netanyahu’s death sentence must be ordered,” Imam Khamenei said during a meeting with members of the Iranian Basij volunteer force on Monday, as part of Basij Week celebrations.

Basiji is not intimidated by the US and Israeli propaganda, he asserted, adding that some of the prominent Iranian scientists, who were assassinated by the enemy, were members of the volunteer force.

Imam Khamenei further said that Basij will definitely destroy the Zionist regime. Basij, he emphasized, should strengthen, expand and maintain preparedness.

The leader said the United States’ ideal for the region is either submission or chaos, urging the force to counter US duality of dictator ship and anarchy.

I mean...I don't think there is a vehicle in place for that. He would literally have to be captured by Iran or something like that, and he is probably more likely to be caught by Israelis, and, well, they might do a bit of street justice without formally passing a sentence.

I don't generally agree with death sentences, only killing people on the street, battlefield, etc., while they are in process of some violent act. I recommend gulag-style labor, or, Devil's Island solitary confinement in an outhouse. But I'm not going to have a serious falling out with the Basij principles over this trivial matter. If someone does execute him, I will basically ignore the process.

Since the warrants, nominally, are only going to restrict those guys' freedom of travel, I am keenly interested on how it may spearhead disruption of the regime. So far it has only lost a few contacts with people who were not exactly big supporters. A severance of all external aid seems mandatory. Except maybe a slush fund to quarantine them in Canada. That's my closest thing to a positive remark on survival.

Shaberon! On one hand I agree with your recommendation of "gulag-style labor, or, Devil's Island solitary confinement in an outhouse". But why oh why do you add the suggestion to quarantine that demon in CANADA! I'm offended. Wouldn't Antarctica be more suitable?

Israeli Cabinet has Approved a Ceasefire in Lebanon

After months of heavy fighting which has included airstrikes and an IDF ground invasion of Lebanon, it finally looks official. Israel's Channel 12 and others are reporting Tuesday evening (local time) that the Israeli cabinet has approved a ceasefire in Lebanon.

In announcing the ceasefire, Netanyahu called out both Iran and Syria's Assad. He stressed that Israel is "Determined to prevent Iran from having nuclear arms" and that Assad is "playing with fire" in his coordination with the Islamic Republic and Hezbollah.

The prime minister also stressed that Hezbollah will be attacked if its fighters break the deal. Netanyahu added that the ceasefire deal means Israel will now focus on the Iranian threat. He pledged that all Israeli citizens in the north will be able to return to their homes.

"We were able to achieve many of our goals during this war," he said. The ceasefire is expected to take effect Wednesday.

Jerusalem Post writes, "Presidents Biden and Macron will announce the deal during the night, with the alleged agreement set to take effect at 10 a.m. tomorrow."

BREAKING: Israeli Army Radio Publishes Full Agreement Between Israel and Lebanon:

Key Provisions of the Agreement:

1. Hezbollah and all other armed groups in Lebanese territory will refrain from any offensive actions against Israel.

2. In return, Israel will not conduct any military offensive operations against targets in Lebanon, whether on land, in the air, or at sea.

3. Both Israel and Lebanon acknowledge the importance of UN Security Council Resolution 1701.

4. These commitments do not negate the right of Israel or Lebanon to exercise their inherent right to self-defense.

5. The official security and military forces of Lebanon will be the only entities authorized to carry weapons or operate forces in southern Lebanon.

6. The sale, supply, and production of weapons or weapon-related materials in Lebanon will be subject to oversight and control by the Lebanese government.

7. All unauthorized facilities involved in the production of weapons and related materials will be dismantled.

8. All unauthorized military infrastructure and sites will be dismantled, and all weapons that do not comply with these commitments will be confiscated.

9. A joint committee, acceptable to both Israel and Lebanon, will be established to monitor and assist in ensuring the implementation of these commitments.

10. Israel and Lebanon will notify the committee and UNIFIL of any potential violations of their commitments.

11. Lebanon will deploy its official security and military forces along all borders, crossings, and the southern zone specified in the deployment plan.

12. Israel will gradually withdraw its forces south of the Blue Line within a period of up to 60 days.

13. The United States will work to facilitate indirect negotiations between Israel and Lebanon to establish mutually recognized land borders.

Israel destroyed several buildings in the Beirut southern suburb less than an hour after striking the heart of the capital

Israel launched heavy and destructive air raids on Beirut and its southern suburb on 26 November, ahead of a cabinet session in which Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to greenlight a potential ceasefire deal with Hezbollah.

The attacks caused massive explosions and huge clouds of smoke were seen rising out of numerous locations across Beirut’s southern suburb on Tuesday afternoon, as shown in video footage on social media.

Several residential buildings have been completely destroyed by the strikes, which came after issued evacuation orders for over 20 buildings in the suburb. The Israeli army claimed it struck dozens of Hezbollah targets.

An Israeli strike completely leveled a building in central Beirut’s Nuwairi area less than an hour before the attacks on the suburb began.

“A fierce airstrike carried out on Tuesday by Israeli enemy warplanes targeted a building near Khatem al-Anbiyaa Mosque in Al-Nuwairi area of Beirut,” Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA) reported.

According to an NNA correspondent, the raid on Nuwairi targeted a four-story building housing displaced people. At least seven were killed and 37 wounded, the Lebanese Health Ministry said. Operations to remove rubble are ongoing, and the toll is expected to rise.

The intense bombing comes ahead of an anticipated announcement of a ceasefire agreement between Hezbollah and Israel, which US and Israeli officials say is close. Prime Minister Netanyahu is expected to approve the deal during a security cabinet meeting on Tuesday afternoon.

Beirut has expressed cautious optimism, as Netanyahu has consistently blocked a deal from going through in Gaza for over a year.

The potential agreement focuses on implementing UN Resolution 1701. As part of the deal, Hezbollah is required to withdraw beyond the Litani River, with the Lebanese army deploying its troops to the south and the Israeli army withdrawing its invading forces from Lebanon. This is all meant to happen within a 60-day period.

Netanyahu: Israeli cabinet set to approve Lebanon ceasefire


The Israeli security cabinet will agree this evening on a truce deal with Lebanon, said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday, shortly after the occupation military launched a series of unprecedented heavy airstrikes that targeted several areas across Lebanon, including central Beirut.

Al Mayadeen's correspondent said that the Israeli occupation government announced its approval of a ceasefire agreement with Lebanon.

In a pre-recorded video address, Netanyahu claimed that "with the full understanding with the US, we are maintaining full freedom of action" against Hezbollah in Lebanon.

"If Hezbollah violates the agreement and tries to rearm, we will attack," he vowed.

The Israeli premier, attempting to maintain an image of victory despite multiple criticisms leveled by officials against the ceasefire, pointed out that "the duration of the ceasefire depends on what takes place in Lebanon," adding that "the war will not end until we achieve all our goals, until we return the residents of the north safely home."

Netanyahu outlined three reasons for agreeing to the ceasefire at this time. First, he indicated that the truce would allow "Israel" to "focus on the Iranian threat."

Second, he highlighted the importance of providing rest for troops and replenishing weapon supplies, admitting that "there were delays, and big delays, in weapons shipments," without directly referencing the Biden administration.

The Israeli premier said that the "delay will soon be released," hinting at the return of Donald Trump to the White House.

He added that the third reason is to isolate the Palestinian Resistance group Hamas, which would enable "Israel" to retrieve the captives held in Gaza.

More than a year has gone by since the beginning of the war on Gaza and "Israel" has still not succeeded in retrieving the captives by force, as the Palestinian Resistance continued to highlight that they would only be returned through a ceasefire agreement.

Ceasefire to take effect on Wednesday

The agreement is set to take effect on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at 10 AM, as reported by the Israeli Channel 12.

Israeli media highlighted details of the agreement, stating that it includes a commitment that "Israel" will not undertake any military action against Lebanon and will gradually withdraw its forces from south of the "Blue Line" in Lebanon over a period of up to 60 days.

Additionally, the agreement stipulates that both Lebanon and "Israel" will adhere to United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, according to Israeli media.

In a related context, the Israeli Channel 12 reported that the ceasefire agreement lacks explicit language granting "Israel" the freedom to attack Hezbollah if it allegedly violates the terms of the truce in areas north of Lebanon’s Litani River.

Instead, the agreement specifies that "Israel" must report such violations to a US-led international body overseeing the deal, which will then assess the severity of the breach.

'No deal with Hezbollah will erase the abandonments': Lapid

On his part, Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid criticized the Netanyahu government’s handling of the ceasefire, accusing it of being “dragged into the agreement with Hezbollah” after more than a year of war.

“Meanwhile, northern communities were destroyed, the lives of the residents were destroyed, the army has been worn down while you’re advancing evasion laws,” Lapid indicated in a statement, referring to legislation to exempt ultra-Orthodox Jews from mandatory military service.

He said that "Israel's" assassination of Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and intense strikes on Beirut's Southern Suburb are “operational successes worthy of all praise, but the October 7 government did not know how to turn them into a diplomatic win.”

“Under Netanyahu’s watch, the greatest disaster happened in our history, no deal with Hezbollah will erase the abandonments. No statement to the press will change history,” Lapid stressed.
